My 1999 c1500 Suburban caught fire while parked and completely off. It had been parked fro 9 hours when we were awakened at 2am by neighbors and police trying to evacuate our home. The car burned to the ground and was the most frightening experience. I have a 9 and 6 year old that are traumatized by the incident. I reported the matter to the GMC customer care and they replied saying that they would contact me in 2 days. This is unforgiveable.

While driving along towing a trailer, driver made a right turn, and the receiver to the trailer hitch broke. Problem was reported to dealership. Trailer hitch was replaced by the dealership.
The issue I want to discuss concerns the placement of the gas tank on Suburbans. The Suburban my wife purchased did not have a trailer hitch. At the time of purchase I owned a 86 vw scirroco. I noticed without a trailer hitch on the Suburban the 43 gallon was very exposed. In fact my vw would go under the bumber and hit the gas before hitting anything else on the Suburban. This has to be dangerous!!. I bought a class iii trailer hitched and installed it soon after purchase of the vehicle. Most Suburbans have trailer hitches but for the ones that don't is this a problem???.
