Oil burning too quickly I recent got an oil change in Aug, checked oil and it was completely dry less then 2 months (oil consumption recall expired) I had same issue in 2017 but my was non operational due to oil consumption problem damaged my engine and dealer couldn't run test so I paid for new engine out of pocket! second issue shortage in rear passenger lights I've changed bulbs several times now I see there's a shortage definitely.
The liftgate on my 2011 GMC Terrain failed on 8/31/2021. It lifted to the 3/4 setting and then fell, hitting me in the head, and then it lifted back up and then closed. I have tried to operate the liftgate several times following this incident and it continues to do the same thing. I currently have the liftgate in the off position so that it does not cause bodily injury to anyone else. Please confirm that there will be a recall associated with this incident since bodily injuries were incurred.
Continuous excessive oil issues burns and uses 3-5 quarts of oil every week to 2 weeks causing engine issues slow acceleration lurching and chugging issues with engine won’t downshift or upshift correctly transmission seizing issues have spent 1000s of dollars trying to fix this issue and mechanic has said it’s just a commen issues with this make and model and year range just have to keep pouring oil in each week which is costly and eventually will cause my engine and transmission to fail.
On a highway way home and says reduced engine power like 3 days after getting transmission replaced had to get it towed I had my kids with me and mechanic told me it's the engine it had no oil in it when it did have oil before that happened it didn't show leaking or nothing now I'm out of my money under 86,000 miles yet 2011 Terrain.
My car has been wasting to much engine oil for no reason.
Rear tailgate door goes up fully, then comes down half way, backup fully, then closes all the way down. This happens with keyless remote, switch inside vehicle and vehicle started or not started.
My wife was driving the vehicle and went over a bump and heard a bang come from the rear driver side of the vehicle . When I looked you could see the were the rear suspension bolts to the sub-frame was all rusted away, so I inspected the passenger side of the vehicle and it was almost like the drivers side. If the bushings were not tight that arm would have fallen down and it would have ripped the whole rear of the car out causing and accident were people would have been injured or killed.
Multiple times my GMC stalls while in movement. Does it when I am making turns driving slow speeds or backing up. Multiple times it has resulted in my vehicle almost being hit. Big problem I am having as well is that oil seems to burn fast. I get my oil changes regularly but have to go back into shop between oil changes for them to put more oil in as its burning out so quickly. I am not leaking oil at all!! these two things have been a constant problem being a mom I am scared to have m uh kids in the car that it may malfunction while they are in it and result in an accident. Recalls should be in place to fix these problems as they are serious problems.
Proven oil consumption problem on my car as well as many others leading to a class act which has failed just about everyone. Car is completely unsafe and these cars require a new engine among other fixes in order to avoid the engine blowing. My engine blew on the highway with no warning despite regular oil changes and maintenance. The oil consumption problem has been documented by gm and they are still negligent to the issue. The car was in motion on the highway going around 70 mph when the engine blew. There is supposed to be an oil light signifying low oil which did not go off as well as doing 3 oil consumption tests mandated by gm in order for them to do any repairs. All were failed tests and gm still pushed for more tests that required me to keep driving it. Despite the failed tests they still fought it and the engine blew over this time.
Fuel pump problems. Misfiring and shutting off.
The automatic lift gate will open, reach the top and then automatically go down. It will go half way , pop back open to the top then fully shut. It does not read that something is stopping it from closing. The enclave, traverse, acadia and outlook are currently under recall with the same issue but not the Terrain.
Excessive engine oil consumption about a quaker of oil every 2000 miles. This vehicle was bought from a non GMC as used certified with 145450 miles date 01/18/2019. By then then vehicles was classified as recall. With especial coverage warranty from GMC please see bulletin number 15285a. I reach out to gm customer engagement center of CA, but they refused to pay for diagnoses fees and repairs , quote the vehicle is over 120000. I had also made a complain to the better business bureau. I would like GMC pay for diagnoses and repairs to a certified local GMC dealership. Thank you for you help respectfully, customer.
Driving home from work and making a right hand turn the car started making a horrible grinding noise. I thought my wheel was coming detached from the car. Had the car towed and have been told that my front differential "exploded". Not a happy camper, bought 2nd hand, has 77,000 miles now costing me 2500. 00 to 5000. 00 to repair. Sad thing is, is we never use the 4 wheel drive.
Transmission failure with no warning, torque converter replacement $3,500 around 120k miles. Check engine light unable to be diagnosed or repaired succesfully since 100k miles. Code p0420 with no catalytic converter issues. Every O2 sensor replaced, code will not clear. Stalls without any warning, low rpm, rough idles, engine just shuts down. No dash indicator lights illuminate when failure occurs. Restarts. Oil must be changed early as it seems to consume too much. Undiagnosable. Have been told by every mechanic it could be computer related, timing chain related, regardless this 4cyl GMC has too many complaints for yheae issues not to have a recall. It is incredibly dangerous when random engine failure occurs and I have had more close calls fearing for my life in this vehicle than I can recall at this point. I have spent almost the value of this vehicle in major repairs in the year I have owned it.
Catalytic converter recall. I have had an issue my 2011 GMC Terrain for about a 7 months now. Back in November of 2017, so I have had a problem with my car for about a month and a half at that time, I took my Terrain in for a regularly sechedualed oil change. While getting my oil changed I asked if they could look at my car to see what the problem was. They said I had a leak in my exhaust and that my catalytic converter was broken. I was looking up prices to get the catalytic converter changed and saw there was a recall for it and called my local chevy dealership to find out more. I am now at 123000 miles, so the dealership told me that I was over the allowed miles of 120,000. I switched p. O. Boxes and never received a letter letting me know about the recall. I do have the paper saying that the catalytic converter is broken and at the time I had 119,856 miles which is just under the 120,000 mile mark, and that was after about a month and a half of issue with my Terrain. I wanted to know if you would honor the recall since I have the document stating I wasn't at 120,000 miles and that the catalytic converter was broken, the document is included in the picture below.
Vehicle keeps shutting off when driving. I was at stop sign vehicle just shut off I started it back and try to go park it back home it shut off 4 times before it got in my driveway. The truck recently did the so samething two weeks ago and I took it to the dealership and was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I just recently got the fuel pump changed, this is when the issue started right after having the fuel pump changed. We went back to the same dealership and had them check the fuel pump but I was told that it was on properly. There are no indicators that pop up, no check engine light. This is very dangerous if on busy highways/interstates.
The belt needed to fasten in my grandsons carseat in the middle of the back seat did not hold while making a sharp left or right turn. The seat slid over side ways. There is no upper stablizing device to keep the seat from tilting to the right or left. I live in ladylake and sometimes people pull out in front of you and while this happened to me and I had to vear to the right my grandson slid sideways carseat and all, scared my grandbaby.
While I was driving 35-45 miles per hour the truck turned off on its own so I parked truck on the side of the road. I waited a few minutes and tried to turn vehicle on again, it turned on again and I continued driving 20-30 per hour. Then after being stopped at a red light when it turned green I stepped on the gas and there was a loud sound plus we felt like it had jumped.
I have a 2011 GMC Terrain with 59000 miles on it and the catalic convertor is rotting away and I was wondering if there was any other problems or if it will be covered.
Was sold a vehicle with multiple mechanical problems with it within the first week of purchase as well as an open recall on this vehicle.
I bought my car used in 2014. There was no mention of the car burning so much oil! I put 3 qts in my car every 3 weeks! it burns oil like crazy!.
There was a recall for my vehicle to replace the high pressure fuel pump. This was replaced and 1 week later the check engine light came on. Taken to dealer. Diagnosed as catalytic converter. The catalytic converter is under a public service extended warranty (10 years, 120,000 miles whichever comes first). Of course I now have 138,000 mile on the vehicle. GMC will not cover repair costs. This should be a recall not an extended service warranty. The vehicle was moving when the light came on. I first called about replacing the catalytic converter when notified by mail of the extended service warranty, and because the mileage was over 120,000 miles and the light was not on, I was told there was no reason to have it repaired. Depending on what is causing the catalytic converter diagnostic to indicate it has a problem, this could be a serious safety problem. Clearly, GMC issued an extended service warranty to avoid repairing affected vehicles. The 120,000 mile limitation excludes vehicles randomly. This issue could occur at anytime.
Terrain was recalled for oil consumption and would stall about 500-700 miles after oil change because oil was at least 1 quart low. The dealership fixed it with the oil consumption recall parts and put less than 15 miles after the fix, the Terrain flat out died in an intersection when attempting to go at the green light. I almost got t-boned and rear ended because I was at the end of a green light with a car behind me and I couldn't get it started before the cross traffic's light turned green. Dangerous! I called the dealership and they said to bring it back. I'm just worried because I'm reading about several people with Terrains and equinoxes having this same issue with no end in sight and the dealerships not wanting to fix this serious issue. I checked the oil when I got it off the street but the oil was not low. It has never stalled when it was good on oil. . . . This is a brand new, dangerous problem!.
Car completely shuts down and loses all power/activity after starting it up, putting gear into drive, and trying to accelerate. Wheel gets stiff and car stops moving. This first happened within a year of buying the vehicle and has happened a second time mid ownership. During these times, the car just would not start for about 30 mins to an hour. Lately and several times a week now since mid-October, the car will start but completely shut down to the point where the car is shutting down at red lights, stop signs and anywhere I have to stop. It may take 3-5 times to repeat the process of starting the car and putting it back into drive before it drives without shutting down and me making to my destination.
Opened remote lift gate it went up very fast then came down on top of my head leaving me with a very bad head ache. Continues to do the same thing was checking to see if there was a recall on this problem.
Noticed "check engine" light came on when I turned on the engine. Since, I just bought the car the day before, I thought may be it need an oil change. So, I drove it but it stalled when I get to the stop sign in the parking lot. I turned the engine back on, drove about 15 miles and when I got to the traffic light, I slowed down to make a right (light was green), the car stalled and locked the steering wheel! I am thankful there was no car behind me. I just do not feel safe driving that car.
We were traveling northbound on us 84 in our 2011 GMC Terrain SUV near tesuque pueblo when the driver's side front alloy wheel disintegrated, slamming our vehicle into the concrete barrier dividing the traffic. The tire was fine but the wheel spokes were all broken into pieces. The lose tire bounced over the barrier crossing two lanes of oncoming traffic. No one was injured, but it could have been disastrous for us and others. The tesuque tribal police asked us"to do something" so we are asking your agency to "do something" before someone is seriously injured in the future. The tesuque tribal police station has the report (case 15tp009) at route 42, box 360-t, santa fe, nm 87506 (telephone 505-988-9119; fax 505-983-1883). Please investigate and warn about alloy wheels. A piece of the broken wheel is stamped "a751 gm,yuan chen, thank you for your attention in this matter.
Shoulder bolt that controls height adjustment on power driver's seat. I have asked on two different occasions and always no parts available. Do not allow wife to drive vehicle as there is significant difference in our heights.
The driver side window freezes open at 25 deg f (-4 deg c). Unknown if passenger windows freeze open at same temperature. Window opening required for presentation of identification. Hazard involves risk to occupants below freezing temperatures. // climate information - outside temperature: 27 deg f (-4 deg c); area dewpoint: 25 deg f (-4 deg c); pressure: 30. 26 inches hg (1024. 8 mb); weather: mist (frost build-up present on vehicle); inside temperature: "high" setting defrost and floor, level 12; window open time: 30 seconds; window up method: continuous up/down to break-free frost/freeze build up, eventually returning to up/closed position after 2 minutes; // request oem review and investigate cause for defect. Window up/down motor seems too weak to overcome freezing temperatures.
Since I first purchased the car, it has given nothing but issues, the ac went out while still under warranty, it was fixed so I thought, it broke down again and because I was unable to describe word by word, I was told it would not be covered since it was not the same issue and I no longer had the warranty. A mechanic told me that GMC installed really cheap ac compresors/unit and he has had a lot of customers with same issue. It is a shame that we pay so much money in the purchase of a vehicle and in return we get a piece of junk. I need help.
I was on the interstate in cincinnati, ohio when a deer crossed over the jersey wall onto the roadway as I was just beginning to exit. I hit the deer at a minimum speed of 45-50mph. My airbag did not deploy. Although I was unharmed I am concerned about the failure of the airbag to deploy given my speed and front impact. My vehicle has also recently had an intermittent issue with sudden loss of power that has been attributed to the stability control system. Given the recent rash of incidents surrounding GMC vehicles and the lack of recalls on the Terrain vehicle, I am reporting these incidents at this time as I am concerned that they may be indicative of broader problem with the Terrain model of vehicle.
The 4 phone system developed static either bluetooth connection or using the onstar phone system. Over several months I changed phones at least 4 times. The static gets progessively worse as speed of the vehicle increase. At 70 miles per hour when a call is made from the vehicle the person on the other end can barely make out wha the person in the vehicle is saying. The vehicle has been in two separate dealerships. Vcim and microphone have been replaced twice. Gm customer service tells me that it is a technology issue and they are not responsible for it. Gm did work on it right up to the 36,000mile bumper to bumper. It was then their "field engineer" declared the system operated fine and there was no problem. Since then gm refuses to work on it. Their "engineer" made 1 phone call from the car for less than 4 minutes but put 86 miles on it and left it out of gas. Sitting still the system is static free. Moving it is almost useless. This is the safety aspect that bothers me is we purchased vehicle ($31,000. 00) for bluetooth handsfree and onstar both of which are nearly useless at speed and gm refuses to do anything about it. This has been ongoing for 1. 5 years. I have spent countelss hundreds of dollars on different phones and my time trying to get this issue fixed. Gm customer service is useless at any speed. If they advertise "handsfree and bluetooth" it should work. Safety wise this is an issue because my wife has to resort to holding her phone while driving if she wants to be heard. I am afraid there is a more serious issue that will disable the onstar in an emergency. The public has been sold "technology" by all of the automakers. They tout it on tv but when it comes to it they won't fix it when it breaks.
