I think the manifold on GMC Terrain need to be on a recall because mine already cracked.
Took vehicle into dealer for a recall on October 17, 2023 with the recall being [primary]: recall : c/s: n192268181 -tailpipe emissions - exhaust components: c/s: n192268181 -tailpipe emissions - exhaust components. The dealership did an excellent job on the work providing a video to show work being done. Now this month of April, I received another check engine light stating the p0013 code stands for “exhaust “b” camshaft position actuator circuit/open (bank 1). ” there is not a recall from the manufacturer but according to dealership they've received a bulletin in regards to this issue. According to the dealership it will cost in excess of $500 to repair. Absolutely not true. There are a thousand videos on what causes this and even how to repair it from the same mechanics that work within these dealerships. This issue is a safety issue because if not repaired it causes damage to your engine. This code lets you know that you will start experiencing loss of power, trouble starting your vehicle, the stalling/picking up speed all at the same time. Some of these issues have been caused from the issue of the oil consumption problem associated with the Terrain's.
Hello I'm writing this letter to inform you about my 2012 terrian I have had nothing but problems with the motor and now the muffler system I have had all recalls done on this and gm is well aware of this problem I have a dealer ship to replace the timing in this motor and still uses oil and still have all the problems after the recalls have been fixed now they want me to pay over $3,000 to have new catalytic converters fixed on it now after paying $2800 for a new timing seems to me gm likes to fix the cheap stuff on these cars and make customers pay for the expensive parts must people can't afford this and junk the vehicle I will not I'm going to fight for what is right the dealer ship even told me when I took it back in to see what the code was for that gm is well aware of it and not worth putting the money into the car this is not right for customers to spend this kind of money gm needs to handle this.
Will like car facts.
When I stop at the light my car shake and rocks, then the car goes into limp mode. Where the stabilitrack comes on and the engine goes into reduced mode. And I can't go over 30mps. When this happened on the freeway is the most dangerous and scary feeling ever. I've got so many new parts and put over 3,000 into the car and it still has this issue. I've been do several different mechanics and nobody can figure out what's wrong. Gm needs to look into this, it's so many forums going on for this issue.
Once again, timing chain incident, this time while driving, wasn't expecting it, suddenly my Terrain steering when became stiff to turn, and happened to realize the car motor had shut off and rolling to the right, nearly hitting parked car. I tried to start vehicle, but made a whining sound, but did not start, yet check engine light was on. I had my obd reader handy, and got p0011, p0017 codes, which tell me it was the timing chain again in this car. This very dangerous because we could of collided with a parked vehicle, if not for me struggling so hard to steer vehicle while steering wheel was stiff.
Very high oil consumption. I recommend it's the piston rings.
Evap emission control leak detected as the check engine light comes on, when hooking a computer up to the car for a scan it pulls a code stating there is an evap leak. The gas cap has been replaced along with a sensor and no gas is seen leaking but you can smell gas vapors when the car is running and fuel mileage is terrible. Also the stabilitrak has been an underlying issue since owning the vehicle.
Vehicle began to use excessive amount of oil and idel up and down and sometimes even shuts down. After about 3 months while driving on the interstate it began to shut down while in motion. I called for someone to check the vehicle out and he arrived called someone to check the vehicle and he actually told me it seems to be the motor gone bad but he asked would I drive it back home if he followed behind. It literally scared me and my 4 children to death when it shut down while in motion with that kind of speed so I don't trust putting my children in it now. I don't think its safe at all. The vehicle I once thought was perfect for my family is turning out to be a nightmare.
Car is burning excessive amount of oil. Now the engine has seized up.
We received a notice in the mail regarding our vehicle with our VIN #. And it mentioned our particular size engine had a recall for potential emissions part condition of degraded catalytic converter and/or oxygen sensors caused by excessive engine oil consumption affecting some vehicle from our year, make, and model. We were surprised to receive this notice because we always park in reverse and we had noticed how it was turning the curb side black coming from the tail pipe. We did receive one other notice before and took it to the dealership to have it maintenance but my honest opinion I do believe they did anything to our vehicle because it was running the same and also took it to midas after taking it to the dealership because it ran the same. Anyhow I hope upon receiving this other notice we can actually maybe get reimbursed and actually get it fixed finally.
My vehicle has excessive oil consumption including the need for frequent oil refilling, combined with audible rattle and knocking sound.
My Terrain is stalling really bad some days and sometimes no problems at all. It does it more when going into reverse, I have to keep giving gas to get backed up. It has also died on me when I slow to a stop like at a light. This is really frustrating!!.
I was driving my 2012 GMC Terrain and as soon as I slowed down or stopped my car would shut off and I would have to try to restart it. Fortunately, I made it home without having to stop. As I was turning in my driveway it shut off again. Onstar suggests it may be a timing issue. Help! I took it to the dealership to get a new battery and when I got my car back the fuel sensor was not working. It was working before they got it and GMC collierville refused to fix it. I can't afford all these major repairs and will not by another if GMC does not resolve the consumer's issues.
My car oil consumption is excessive. I have repetitive codes: p0089, p0300, p0366, p228d, p0014 and the check engine light being on. Car is jerking back and forth when at a stop light. Tapping noise made also. Every 1000-1500 my car is always needing oil (at least 2 quarts) and I also have to put more than the usual amount of gas in it then when I first purchased.
The truck burns oil incredibly fast. Due to this ongoing issue, it caused the timing chain to break and we had to spend nearly $800 for engine repairs. Even after having it in the shop numerous times for the same issue, the truck still eats through oil incredibly fast and it seems to only be getting worse. I received a letter in the mail saying that there was a recall regarding this but that they would send me info through the mail on how to go about fixing this issue, but I never received anything else about the recall.
Emission control has went out twice within 3 months of being fixed. Cam shaft both sides had to be replaced. 4 times with 6 months the fuel light has came on stating the cap needs repaired, even though it was replaced. Alternator, battery has been replaced October 2019, while in another sate. Engine light has been on since I purchased it in Feb. 2019. Electrical shortage because of previous right side damage. Throttle has went out, while driving 65 on highways. Stability control stopped working. Crankshaft was replaced. Exhaust leak. Body control short, jerking while driving, timing warning.
2012 gms Terrain 4 cylinder flex fuel- camshaft code, cam sensors replaced, spitting and sputtering, stalled x3 and shut off, fuel consumption noted, loss of power. GMC dealership refused to perform diagnosis on my car due to my refusal to pay for ruling out the documented fuel leak recall/special coverage. My request was only to have fuel the issue looked at and ruled out, nothing further, to ensure this was not causing my problem. I reported my problems that are consistent with the noted fuel special coverage and turned away because I did not have $120 to pay if they found it was not the problem. Upon reading my issue correlates with numerous Terrain and equinox owners. I want in this action to get something done for people like myself.
At low idle or when backing up and accelerating vehicle the engine stalls. This typically occurs after driving car for 10-15 minutes. Engine light appears. It will continue to stall unless holding down brake & accelerator at same time. Stops stalling when speed increases, but stalls on low speeds & backing up continually. Code indicates camshaft adjuster sensor. First sensor replaced. Problem occurred again immediately after leaving garage. Second sensor replaced. Problem occurred once again! mechanic thinks it could be ground wiring issue is burning up the camshaft sensors. The car is not safe to drive.
Car die (stall) at idol after warmed up drive it 10 miles stop at stop sign it die restart die again may do that 3-4 times before it will take gas and run does this intermeditly run fine for half a day stop run in store come out restart and it die (no chugging just die) auto parts store said it was a crankshaft sensor when they checked what had the check engine light on (note check engine light not come on each time it stalls).
Secondary air pipe leaks and is not produced anymore! vehicle can not meet emissions standards ! vehicle uses oil due to faulty pct system.
I started out driving on highway road at approximately 5:45pm traffic was moderate, my speed was about 30-35 mph. All of a sudden I heard a clunk and then alarm ding from the dash as well as message "service stabiltrak" then "reduced engine power". I was unable to go any faster than 25mph. I drove in this mode for about 2 miles in traffic, when reaching open highway (no traffic) the vehicle would not shift by itself. I had to accelerate then let off the gas, tap pedal then the vehicle would shift. I was able to do this multiple times until reaching about 45mph. I pulled off into a neighborhood, shut vehicle off to see if this would reset something, it did not. The vehicle was in this state when I arrived at the dealership service department at approximately 6:05pm. Dealership logged following on service request: 5043 found code p228c ran diag could not duplicate problem fuel psi at spec raises to spec test drove on highway did not duplicate condition found no bull on condition test drive numerous time, could not duplicate concern. Miles out 5067.
The contact owns a 2012 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that he was driving approximately 60-70 mph when he heard a loud noise as the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull off the road. After inspecting the vehicle, he found that the fuel line was fractured and all of the gasoline spilled out from the vehicle and onto the highway. The police were contacted and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis where the contact was advised that the fuel line needed to be replaced. The fuel line was replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were approximately 12,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the contact drove over a piece of a tire in the road. The tire struck the fuel line and caused the fuel line to become detached. As a result, gasoline fuel began to spill over the highway. The vehicle was stopped and towed to a dealer for diagnosis and the fuel line was replaced. The dealer informed the contact that there was nothing to protect the fuel line from subsequent contact with road debris. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 18,000. Kmj.
