1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

My wife and I took our new vehicle on a 7k mile road trip this summer. Two times while on the freeway around 70 mph, the sensors went wild. The cars auto break came on and red lights and collision warnings went off in the seat and the hud. The vehicle slowed down to about 35 immediately! then everything turned off and we sped back went down the road like nothing happened. Luckily there was no behind us or in front of us for a good distance. The thing is during both of the there was a car in the lane next to us at our 1 or 2 o'clock position. Perhaps the sensors. Mistakingly thought we were about to hit that car. Can these seniors be adjusted?.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 06/29/2025

Driving my vehicle with no warnings, messages, or symptoms on adaptive cruise control Sunday [xxx] on [xxx] in michigan. I changed lanes into the right lane when the vehicle abruptly, without notification, and with force, caused braking that unexpectedly and dangerously slowed the vehicle then released braking before doing the same a moment later. Vehicle was pulled off the road onto the shoulder without an accident, thankfully nobody was behind because they would not have been able to stop in time before hitting my vehicle and I assume the brake lights weren't activated since I did not press the brake pedal either time the vehicle was abruptly slowed causing audible noise of traction loss due to skidding. Vehicle engine would function but parking brake remained active leaving vehicle unable to change gears and transmission warning showed on instrument panel. Vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealer in grayling, michigan where it remains and would be available for inspection. Dealer shows transmission as the cause and in need of replacement. Vehicle has been maintained at gm shops since original ownership. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 09/17/2023

Car is losing go power when accelerating on to interstate. It’s like the transmission loses power, the d illuminates, and then it kicks in to drive. It puts us at risk for an accident and I had a semi almost hit me because of this. This has been reproduced at the mechanic shop as well. No warnings before this happens.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 11/05/2022

I’m crying out to you because I bought a 2019 GMC Terrain in April of this year with about 14,000 miles. The SUV ran great for about 2 months and since then I’ve been dealing with nothing but a nightmare. We’re dealing with a situation where the SUV goes into park while driving. We’ve brought the SUV multiple times to GMC dealership and even reached out to GMC, and had no luck resolving the issue. Last night, while driving to a family event, the SUV went into park while I was driving. This is the 4th time since we got the SUV. I’m scared for my safely in this SUV, if you could please assist.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/30/2021

Not long after I bought my 2020 GMC Terrain my adaptive cruise started disengaging. There are never any warning lights, except the noise and vibration of the seat before it shuts off then tells you it's disengaging. I didn't think anything of it until it's became a regular occurrence in the last month or two. I tell my dealership about it and they drive it but it never disengages on them, so they say nothing is wrong with my vehicle. I have a picture of the "adaptive cruise disengaging" and video of where I can't reset it until after about 15 or so minutes or letting my car set for a while or turning off the engine then it works again. I also have noticed that my auto start/stop hasn't been turning on & off anymore.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2013 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/22/2021

Driving home from work last night in my car and when I got to my neighborhood, I rolled down the window a tad for some fresh air, and then noticed a weird cranking sound coming from under the hood. I continued home cautiously, noticing at this point that when I would accelerate the car would shake some and the lights would flicker some. I had not noticed anything on the 25 mile drive to work that morning and most of the drive home until slowing down from highway to neighborhood road. When I got to my carport I parked my car and got out, noticing the smell of burning oil. I quickly looked underneath and saw oil spilling, and looked behind my car to see a huge line of oil from where I had come through the neighborhood to the carport. Faint blue smoke was also visible, at this point I shut my car off. There was never a single indication light of any sort at any point in time. I have full service records I have always maintained my car every 5000 miles or less, last time being barely 2 months before this incident, $150 service and full checkup. 30 minutes later I came back out to inspect and everywhere on the underside of my car was dripping oil on the ground, a good 7x3 foot area with drips everywhere and main pool near the front. After doing some research I have seen many many claims describing this exact problem with the same year and model as me, as little as 8 days ago posting about it. I have never had any recalls or notices of this problem but I see class action law suites over this oil consumption problem online, however I see also see articles saying how over 41,000 vins were excluded and people are having extreme problems with this situation. Non-personal info as a young man with this being my first major purchase, having maintained my car as required and having paid $10980 I am extremely upset being out of transportation due to mechanical flaw on piston design.
