Failure Date: 10/22/2019

While driving, there is a random ding. No idiot lights come on this has been going on for over a month. Today I happened to look up and the passenger airbag light was flashing. As if stating there was someone in the seat. The only way to stop it is to have the passenger seat belt buckled while driving. This only happens while driving. 16 Seats problem of the 2015 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

The front passenger seat belt chime comes on even when there is nothing or almost nothing in the seat. This mostly happens when the ambient temperature is above 45 degrees fahrenheit and either during a braking event or acceleration event (either from a stop or during an overtake menuver). It also occurs when the vehicle speed goes above 60mph. In all these situations the chime comes on at most in-opportune times while the vehicle is in motion startling the driver causing him/her to take the eyes off the road to look around what is going on with the vehicle. This issue has resulted in multiple near miss occurrances while I have my 15 month old baby in the vehicle! the issue started occurring in August 2015 (about 4. 5 months after I got the vehicle). The dealer says that this is a known problem with these vehicles and that nothing can be done to fix this. I have seen multiple posts on the internet about this issue with chevy equinox and GMC Terrain.

22 Seats problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

1) brakes have always rubbed & grabbed really hard when applied. Almost like they are defective rotors. Hard to stop fast. I notice they recalled a lot of their brakes, but not mine. 2). Transmission jerks & shifts very violently @ 16 & 17 miles per hour. Seems to slip & not shift @ that speed really rough. Has always done this. 3) sometimes the collision alert goes off & there is nothing around I live in the country & have no traffic it will just go off scares the crap out of you & startles me. I saw another person had this happen also all situations are in motion while driving. Biggest concerns are the transmission & brakes. 4) okay seats are supposed to be leather however, they went cheapy on the sides. It cracked & continues to crack & tear because the sides are vinyl. This started to happen @ approximately 3,000 miles. I only have 32,000 miles on it. I don't drive much.

23 Seats problem of the 2014 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

I had this car as a rental. My wife was in the passenger seat and uses a cushion to sit on, because of back problems. We noticed that air bag "on" light was not lit. When she took away the seat cushion the airbag "on" was lit. I don't know if this is a problem, but there was no warning msg anywhere about using a seat cushion. There was no override switch to force the airbag "on" light either and activate the system.

The driver was unable to see the pedestrian until she was within an extremely close proximity. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that they would further investigate the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.

25 Seats problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

Since I first purchased the car, it has given nothing but issues, the ac went out while still under warranty, it was fixed so I thought, it broke down again and because I was unable to describe word by word, I was told it would not be covered since it was not the same issue and I no longer had the warranty. A mechanic told me that GMC installed really cheap ac compresors/unit and he has had a lot of customers with same issue. It is a shame that we pay so much money in the purchase of a vehicle and in return we get a piece of junk. I need help.

26 Seats problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

This vehicle boggs down when giving it gas and will often cut off after stopping for no reason. There is a noise when you start the vehicle (like a clicking noise). The vehicle do not get the 32 mpg as what is stated, I get about 20 mpg highway. The gas needle does not work properly. I will fill up and still show 1/4 short. The leather seats are buckling and dealer says its normal but know others with leather seats & not happening to them. Recently took in for "service engine" light and malfunction light. This is new car & none of these issues should be happening this soon. I feel like it's a "lemon" and dealer is no help and these problems will compound as car gets older and warranty is over I will be out of luck. Unhappy customer.

27 Seats problem of the 2011 GMC Terrain

Failure Date: 11/21/2010

On 11-21-10 my five year old son bumped his head on a hard surface that was not safely designed or padded properly. This happens when the brakes are applied strongly. Nothing was done by gm to correct this issue.
