The engine light comes on, then "service stabiltrak light" comes on. It starts by making it difficult to accelerate at a red stop light when it changes green. When turning a corner, because there is no quick acceleration, it has caused near miss accidents. As time goes on it becomes worse. I have lost power on the expressway and have to pull over. I have brought this car in several times and GMC has not made any repairs. It is scary when a semi is rolling behind you and you can't accelerate to get out of the way. This is a safety issue. I have received no help from GMC.

My car completely shut down while turning a corner (powered off). I almost hit a tree because I was unable to turn the steering wheel. Once I applied the brake and put it into park, I was able to restart it with no apparent issue.
The vehicle was in motion making a right hand turn and in the turn the operator lost control of the vehicle causing her to strike a curb then head for oncoming traffic. When it was all said and done it looked like the ball joint had failed causing the loss of control. A bystander said he heard a loud pop and looked up and witnessed the vehicle slide into the curb and then see the front left tire lock up and the vehicle come to a stop.

My steering wheel started to check and fora our 6 months before that the tires always needed air. I took the car to be examin and they said it was my tires, changed them and the wheel was semi better, had a full examination done , alignement , rotation and brand new tires. Problem with the steering wheel still remain and I am worry for my safety and the people in the car with me. I drive a lot on highways for work.
Car has been a nightmare since we purchased it. Constantly breaking down and having to result in expensive repairs. 3 catalytic converters, engine used to shut off due to overheating. Engine reduce sign, stabilitrak problems. This has been the worst car to ever be created in the history of vehicles. I'd rather take the damn bus.

There are numerous defects related to the steering, the low speed forward automatic braking doesnt work and the front pedestrian braking doesnt work. The lane keep assist works most of the time but the lane departure warning never works. I brought it to the dealer 3 times and each tim eim told that since there are no computer error codes it has to be working. They even gave me paperwork where gm tells the mechanic what to tell the customers who complain that these features aren't working.

While driving on a snow- covered road with any amount of snow, the snow gets packed inside of the wheels and throws the wheel balance off causing the steering wheel to shimmy badly at highway speeds. I have to remove the snow pack evvery day, and I believe that this is an aerodynamic design flaw with the wheels where the snow doesn't get blown out of the wheel while the car is in motion.
In 2 days, the vehicle has stalled on me. I was in the parking lot and another car almost hit me since the car slowed down and the steering wheel got hard then shut off. Today, I almost got hit again after stopping at a stop sign going into a turn I almost hit someone and a car almost hit me.

Steering will not return to center under hard acceleration. Tested chevey equinox with v-6 and hydraulic steering system produced the same results. This is a severe safety problem when inexperienced driver operates vehicle as the vehicle continues in the direction of the turn. These vehicles are very quick add can cause severe damage to vehicles/pedestrians if not aware of this problem. At present dealer has not repaired/solved problem and stated it is not that severe. Of a problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 GMC Terrain. While driving 3 mph, the steering wheel seized and the service power steering warning indicator illuminated. My car since day one steering wheels locks up constantly, the brakes do not stop you the worst is the engines battery which is located under the seat constantly says I have no power it will turn on several codes and the start idling the rpms go up like your press g the gas but you not then you stall you can be going 70 or 20 mph and it will just stall with no warning. The steering wheel will and I lose traction in regular roads in perfect weather. I can't seem to locate my airbags I have had my vehicle services a million times they always say nothing is wrong also when the rpms or going up. And down I lose all headlights and dash lights. This has happened to me at night so many times. This vehicle has almost killed me so many times I lost count I take it to service there is never an issue. I'm probably going to end up in a severe accident soon the brake pedal sticks and I can't press it down I had to pull into grass one time to avoid a car.
Steering groans at low speeds and when stationary. There is also sporadic vibration in the steering wheel.
Requesting a recall on the 2010 GMC Terrain. Mileage that was on the sticker was incorrect. Far from the truth. Major oil consumption, never seen anything like it. Tapping noise was reported @ 3,000 was told it was normal. Knew it was not. Had to replace camshaft, electrical problem, head lights constantly going, never lasting anytime. Will now have to replace transmission and probably engine. GMC stated they have no record of any problems with the Terrain they stated if there were any problems there would have been recalls and that the NHTSA would have done this. Will this be done? not sure how GMC is getting away with this. So many complaints on line. Are there any class action suits for the Terrain? can we start one? there are plenty of people with the exact same problem. Not even similar it's exact.

We are experiencing a shudder, steering vibration felt through the steering wheel and vehicle structure, combined with a moan type noise. This condition is noticed in during low speed maneuvers or when car is stationary and the wheel is turned.
Engine burning oil rapidly making loud noise had to get a new engine from GMC and had it installed at the dealership. Power steering locked twice took it to dealership they stated that the battery cable was not connecting properly and made the adjustment. Was working fine for 1 month and now the power steering locked again and I almost hit a wall and pedestrian while entering a parking garage, I am taking it back to the dealership.
My car is idling when it suddenly begins to idle roughly then stalls. There is a "reduced engine power" warning that appears with the check engine light, and "service stabilitrak" with the stabilitrak light. This has happened 3 times, twice when the vehicle was stationary, another time in motion, driving on a city street, and I was able to pull over before it died. In reading other complaints, this seems to be a known safety issue for 2010 GMC Terrains and should be investigated as a recall issue.
Car completely shuts down and loses all power/activity after starting it up, putting gear into drive, and trying to accelerate. Wheel gets stiff and car stops moving. This first happened within a year of buying the vehicle and has happened a second time mid ownership. During these times, the car just would not start for about 30 mins to an hour. Lately and several times a week now since mid-October, the car will start but completely shut down to the point where the car is shutting down at red lights, stop signs and anywhere I have to stop. It may take 3-5 times to repeat the process of starting the car and putting it back into drive before it drives without shutting down and me making to my destination.
I purchased the vehicle (car) in Feb. 2011. Attempted to start the car the other day and the yellow "engine" displayed in the speedo area. Waited one day tried again and the car started but I received a message in the red area of the dash indicating the power steering need service. Thinking I could add fluid I checked the owners manual and learned the car had electric power steering. Car started yesterday 11 oct. , drove the car to walmart and returned home. No problems. Attempted to start this am 12 oct. Same thing happened as before. Called the local GMC deealer in fort walton beach, and was told the this power steering is not coverend by the warranty since I have had it for over the 3 year period even thoungh I only have 37,800 miles. I will attempt to start the car agin in a little while. If it will not start I will call aaa to tow the car to a local garage I have used before and trust. I am pretty sure the electric power steering is the culprit.
I had purhased a 2011 GMC terrian and have gotten three letters saying don't bring in to dealer until the problems happen one side -impact circuit cause-airbag-readiness light illuminate and the service air bag message to display. GMC extened the protection for 10 years or 120,000 miles. The second that was sent the steering same protection and the third letter for oil consumption which it is doing now. This not safe for my wife and me or the any other passengers. What is your addvismentfor me.
The contact owned a 2014 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph and making a right turn, the steering wheel seized. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle that was a stop sign. It was unknown if a police report was filed and there were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,248.
I had just purchased the 2013 GMC Terrain denali and noticed that it has a bogging sensation in the steering at idle when turning. It feels like the steering is going to cut out - almost like not fully enganging the clutch on a manual transmission when the engine is about to die. Very noisy and annoying in the tight parking garage when you have to turn the steering at a standstill during idle. There is a ticking noise coming from under the dash that sounds like a construction worker jackhammering about 1 block away with the windows up. It can also be described as a helicopter hovering overhead at around 200-300 feet. You can only hear it from inside the cab. I should have noticed this during the test drive, except that the radio was on and there were no tight steering situations. I was told that both of these items are normal by the GMC dealer. Be sure to test out these two scenarios when test driving. Too late for me, and unfortunately I have to live with it but would rather not.
I couldn't restart my car right after I stopped at a parking stall in the morning, but I can hear "click" sound. Dash board shows warnings:"stabilitrak. . "(I don't remember exactly the words), "battery saver active!" and "service power steering". However, I managed to jump my cable after 20mins, and step on gas at the same time when I turned the ignition key, finally I start my engine after 3 or 4 times. In the afternoon, when I turned on the electrical systems but not crank, power windows didn't work at all, which used to work well, and "service power steering" appears again.
When driving at very low speed there is a creaking sound which seems to be coming from the front side on the bottom. GMC has a service bulletin #pi1314:creak/poptype noise from right front of vehicle during low speed maneuvers-(sept. 17,2014). The fix involves ripping up carpet and cutting a hole approx. 1 ft. Square in front wall of interior. The seat has to be removed . The blower motor has to be removed. The right side front console trim plate and body hinge trim panel, then cutting a huge hole in the wall. I had a 2011 Terrain, which I purchased new and I never experienced this problem. The noise is unacceptable for a brand new vehicle.
This is the second time that the vehicle has stalled at a stop. I am seriously concerned with the safety of my wife. What if this happens and she involved in a serious accident because her vehicle basically shuts off and leaves her very vulnerable? what if the vehicle stalls during driving? GMC is no help, I have called and all they say is there is no recall. I get on their website and it does not work. We have had trouble with the ignition, having to have it repaired and also the timing chain making horrible noise. The latest incident really concerns me as it may place my wife in serious danger. Please help!.
Vehicle quickly decelerated from about 46 mph to 5 mph. It would not accelerate above 5 mph. No warning signs before hand, happened out of nowhere. Then an error light came on the dashboard. GMC mechanic stated the throttle body was bad and replaced it, it was not covered under warranty (cost $540. 00). This could have caused a major accident on a freeway or busy street, or could leave someone stranded on the side of the road with no warning.
Dealer was rotating tires and found the sway bar link on the driver front side was broken in two. This is a all wheel drive model. I have to idea what caused this to break.
The contact owns a 2013 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, he accelerated to pass a vehicle on the left when the vehicle abruptly pulled to the left. The contact stated that he regained control of the vehicle and attempted to pass another vehicle on the right but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they advised the contact that the vehicle was equipped with a hydraulic steering, which was designed to perform in the manner in which it did. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 60.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that the steering wheel locked without warning while he drove at highway speed of 65mph the contact had to control the steering with force. The failure occurred numerous. The dealer performed a diagnostic which was unable to locate a failure code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000. Li.
Won't start, get a "check power steering"light.
A rubbing sound and vibration as you turn the steering wheel.
I was going to a 930 am doctor appt@the cancer clinic, with my husband & father as passengers. I was in the left turn lane northbound attempting to turn into the hospital. It was 910 am. There was a lg. Delivery truck opposite me in the southbound left turn lane. As I pulled in the southbound lane, easing forward to ensure clearance the other car behind the delivery truck pulled out and around the truck and sped up to go through the intersection to make the lightthat was amber at this point. My father said that her head was down and she didn't look up until just before impact. There were no skid marks & the impact was high on the pass. Side of my vehicle rocking us up onto 2 wheels on the drivers side & then back down on all 4. My vehicle was t-boned on the front passenger side. The lady came out from behind the delivery truck at the last second, changed lanes & proceeded into the intersection at the same time I was trying to turn left. At this point the light was yellow. I have, I do believe 8 air bags, with 8 sensors in the Terrain's. Also I have a full subscription to onstar which also has crash sensors in my car. * one air bag went off nor did any sensors**. Onstar did not call me after the crash to tell me that they would be sending help, ambulance, police etc. My injuries were: contusion to left side of head above ear. Scalp wound above right ear, with permanent indentation to right side of my head,2 small cuts right side of forehead. Black eye's. Pain in neck & stiffness. Right eye socket @ eye brow swollen. Husband: seatbelt bruising, neck pain/stiffness. My father, neck pain, stiffness, scraped skin on instep of right foot. This formal complaint is with general motors, GMC Terrain, & onstar for not 1 airbag having not gone off/deployed, nor did onstar make any effort to contact me. I contacted both gm & onstar & they did nothing to compensate me.
Purchased 2012 GMC Terrain in June 2012. Shortly after purchase I noticed the steering is very stiff and makes grinding sound when turning steering wheel. Had to dealer since and they said it was due to the tires pressure. They said they put in correct tire pressure and said it should correct problem. It didn't so I took back to dealer and they test drove it and said they noticed also how stiff the steering is. Was told that other models same year and mode steering were stiff. Did nothing at that time and told to keep driving and see if it corrects itself. It hasn't. What can I do to get those problems resolved?.
There is a rubbing/vibration sound/feel when the steering wheel is turned either left or right most of the time. The sound/feel is more pronounced at times than other times and there when moving or parked. My dealer has attempted to fix the problem without success. Gm says (verbal only) they know of no fix but their engineers are working to find a fix. This (no fix but working on it) has been going on now for nearly 30 days. Since the issue is related to the steering I am concerned that my ability to control the car may be lost at some point. My last communication with gm was Aug 31, 2011. This has been reported to the bbb iaw gm procedures.
