My kids and I was on the interstate and all of sudden my Yukon reduce engine power. Dropping to 30 in a speed zone of 70. I was very afraid for our safety and appreciate there concerns for reducing engine power to save the truck, but that's very dangerous. So I paid to replace the throttle body and gas pedal cause that was the codes for the problem. But it's still doing the same thing and I don't have money to keep buying parts. Plus it a gm problem and I really need some help with the fixture. .

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

2004 Yukon xl with 91,880 miles. Replacement left front wheel bearing/hub failed catastrophically at 6,046 miles of service. The bearing separated completely leading to a towing event. Vehicle was on an interstate highway and traveling at 70 mph, in a straight line when this occurred. Service technician said the drive shaft on the 4wd vehicle was the only thing retaining the wheel. The prior bearing was replaced at 85,878 miles. The bearing was installed at at aftermarket service center. The hub face has the following numbers etched on it. 730-0093, 12fr18107. When I look this up it appears to be a bearing made by gnb.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2020

While driving on the freeway at 75 mph I felt significant reduction in speed and the rpms went pretty high. It felt as if I had my foot on the accelerator and the brake at the same time. There was also a burnt smell. After a few minutes it went back to normal. This continued to happen sporadically so I took it to my mechanic he inspected the vehicle could not find an issue he also ran a code scan. No codes pertaining to this issue only knocker sensor and O2 sensor. I replaced those anyway. Then a few days later I was driving to work at it happened again going about 55 mph it felt like the transmission had downshift to a very low gear there was smoke and really bad burning smell. I pulled over immediately and called my mechanic. He towed the vehicle to his shop still could not find a problem. After several months of sitting I had to drive the vehicle home. After approximately 5 miles there was smoke and small flames coming from behind the front drivers side wheel. My mechanic checked the brake, it had engaged without me pressing the pedal and stuck. Now we are having issues getting brake fluid to the rear brakes. Possibly the proportioning valve.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2015

While operating the vehicle on a highway I pressed the brake pedal and suddenly the brake pedal sunk and I lost brakes. I nearly lost control of the vehicle and almost drove into a guard rail. After further inspection I observe the front drivers side brake was corroded causing it to break. This appears to be an issue with GMC and the company should be required to rectify the situation. Using stainless would prevent incidents like these and possible injuries or deaths.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2014

I was heading to ocean city maryland. As I was approaching the toll plaza to go over the bay bridge I slowed down and seem to had stopped when all the sudden my foot was on the break clear to the floor and I hit the box truck in front of me that was stopped for traffic. I looked at the dash and it was all lit up and blinking. The gentlman told me I had lost my breaks and that when he would move I would begin to move as well. I was not far from the begining of the bridge but I was six or seven lanes to the left in the easypass lane. I called my brother asking him what to do and he talked me through as I was panicing. I had a full tank of gas and lots of tractor trailers going through the plaza. I was for sure I was going to be hit or hit someone else. I rolled down my windows put my flashers on and began to blow my horn and yelling out the window I have no breaks so that I could get over to the right side of the road right before the bridge. As I did people did stop and let me get over and I had my foot on the break but they were not stopping the truck. As I was drifting over a toll facility tow truck was on the side and he yelled to me what was wrong. I told him no breaks and he told me to jump out and he jumped in and hit the truck up over a small enbackment to get it out of the way of all the traffic. He got it to stop and got out and looked up under the truck and could see that two of the break lines were snapped. I had the truck towed with over the bay bridge and they had to replace the two break lines that snapped and they could not bleed the lines fully since they were afraid that the other two lines could snap at any time. I got home and had to have the other two lines done as well. I have to say I was never so scared in my life I could have died for sure if I was going any faster up an over the bridge and down the hill getting off. Worst day of my life.

11 Service Brakes problem

I had been driving on the expressway, I exited and stoped at a drive up window. As I pulled up to the window my brake peddle went to the floor, I had to put it in neutral and use the emergency brake to get the car to stop. After inspection I found that a line within the cluster of four had failed under the drivers side front door. All the lines needed to be replaced due to severe rust.

12 Service Brakes problem

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

Spring of 2013 I lost my brakes ,lines and connectors totally rusted out (replaced). July 2013 my full tank of gas poured out all over the ground. Sending unit ,feed line, return line totally rotted and blew out. But the pump still worked. Lol (all replaced). I bought this truck with 70000 miles on it at 5 years old. From a Volvo dealership. I only put 10000 miles on it in approximately 4 years. I keep it well maintained and change the oil every 3000 miles. Whats next? I have driven trucks for 35 years now. Never had anything like this happen before. What gives with these crappy made parts!!!!! . Make them in the u. S. A. !!!!. . Who are the engineers designing this vehicles. Thy make it hard for the mechanics to work on without having to disassemble everything to get to the repair thats needed! headache for them and $$$$$ unnecessary unsafe for us!!.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

There are several complaints, on the 2004 GMC denalis. It's like it starts slow your gages go out. You have no idea how fast you are going! then the oil, temp for engine, and transmission. Which I had to replace. Then the brakes get a mind of their own. Recently the radio & lights are acting up which is scary, I have a 7 yr. Old. The heat in the back doesn't work for her, so I have several blankets for her. The television quit long ago, it was one of the reasons we bought the car, so kids could watch television on long trips, or whenever. We paid a lot for this vehicle, I would think GMC would step up and do the right thing and correct the product they stand by,and are very proud of. I would love to just purchase a new vehicle. I do not have that luxury, I lost my job, we are pay check to pay check with my husbands income. I can't fix or replace this car, that I absolutely loved before all the malfunctions/defects. I have a garmin so I can tell my speed, and have to hit the side inside the car when the lights won't work. I pray, you will look into this matter before someone is seriously hurt, as so many have reported the same complaints. One gentlemen gave you a website I've seen myself of peoples complaints. I thank you for your time, and anything you can do to help us!!.

During normal driving, brake pedal will sometimes go to the floor when attemping to stop, and vehicle will not slow down at all. After second attempt, brakes start working again. No errors reported by vehicle computer. We have already hit a mailbox trying to avoid a crash, and almost rolled over another time due to not being able to slow down in time. Two gm dealers have found no problems, and we have been told to not bring the vehicle back to them as they say nothing is wrong with it. Problem happens approx. Every 5 weeks, no consistency or events leading up to brake loss.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2004

This vehicle just quits running by itself at highway speeds and then you cannot control the brakes, steering or engine. I reported this to odi in March of 2006 confirmation #10153178. I have had the vehicle in to GMC dealers to repair this issue many times and each time I was told there was no recall and that they could not duplicate my problem. I saw on the news recently that other GMC products have this issue and have caused deaths, but my vehicle was not listed in the recall. I want to know why not? I am lucky I did not go over a cliff on wolf creek pass the first time this happened and kill myself. The problem that I am having with this vehicle is exactly the same issue that is on the news now with the other GMC models. This vehicle should have been included in the recall and was not. Someone needs to correct this. I also wrote GMC on oct 11, 2005 and also called them multiple times but to no avail. I finally gave up because no one would listen to me. Well I hope someone listens now before more people are killed because GMC did not include the 2004 Yukon in this recall.

26 Service Brakes problem

The consumer would have to depress the brake pedal hard to the floor for vehicle deceleration. This would cause extended stopping distance. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined. Please provide any additional information.
