Recieved a recall notice for my 2016 Yukon xl, due to brake vacuum pump faulty. However mcgrath auto in cedar rapids, IA resolve to this recall was to simply reprogram the electronic brake control module. This was completed 12/19. By 2/20 my brakes were requiring me to push harder and at times sounded like they were skipping and braking felt delayed. I also was hearing a squeak/clicking sound coming from what seems the front of my vehicle engine area. Due to quarantine I was not driving or going places but once our state re-opened I called this dealership to report the brake concern and scheduled appt. A day before appt, while stopped at a red light as I moved forward in a very slow crawl my brakes failed me and I could not stop. I bumped the car in front of me which resulted in damage to both vehicles. I reported this to mcgrath as I was scared immensely about the safety of my vehicle. During the service appt 6/11/20 my car was diagnosed with a faulty brake vacuum pump. The vacuum pump was replaced and I was told I was still within the warranty . However they replace all 4 tires and claimed to recalibrate. On 6/25 while in colorado brake, abs and cal lights lit up, the steering wheel power was gone, trailer brake system illuminate, (never even towed a trailer) called mcgrath from colorado as I couldnt drive my car, I explained what was happening, their resolve was to google GMC dealership in area for me. I found my own in Cadillac/GMC dealership in boulder. My children and I are without a vehicle while out of state. Dealership in boulder diagnosed my vehicle with faulty electronic brake control module. I am furious as they say it will not be covered through warranty. My 2016 Yukon is in impeccable condition, issues all happened upon recall with only 35,000 miles. My experience is exactly what is being reported by others impacted by this recall.
Rear tail lights (brake lights) work intermittently. There is a "special coverage adjustment" but it is set for a maximum number of miles or time (6-years). I have a 2016 GMC Yukon xl. The passenger's side was replaced in 2018 and now the driver's side is defective/inoperable. But because we are at 96000 they won't repair.
Right rear brake light works intermittently. No warning lights or messages on the dash. People have told me we have a brake light out, but when I check it later it works. Was pulled over for inoperable brake light, but later that evening the tail light was working. Seems to be a lot of info on internet about a broken strip of metal. Safety issue.
2016 Yukon denali, both brake lights malfunction with on 78k miles. I can't afford new brake lights as they are manufacturer only and $800 a pop. I purchased the extended warranty to cover any of these expenses at another 3k, and the dealer tells me headlights, tail-lights are not covered. I should have researched better, or would not have bought a vehicle with any led lights.
Tail lights/brake lights /signal lights go on and go off danger of being hit from the rear dealer and independent service has confirmed defect and say it is common vehicle has not been inspected be the police or insurance there was no warning lamps or messages first discover 2 years ago when drivers would pull up and say the lights were out. . . . . . We would stop and look they would come back on.
Driver side tail light went out, when you pull the light out it starts to work, replace the light back into the car and it dies again. This seem to be a issues with a lot of people. Its very costly to have to keep replacing led tail lights!.
After refueling my Yukon, pulling out into traffic, the Yukon's rpm gage started jumping up and upon accelerating, the Yukon would not move. I was able to put the Yukon in m gear and slowly drive another mile before I was unable to drive the Yukon at all. Vehicle had to be towed.
Passenger side brake light does not work. This is a known issue with gm. There is poor manufacturing which has caused this chronic failure. Can not replace the bulb, you must replace the entire light assembly.
Brake light taillights intermittent turns on and off.
Brake lights stopped working almost was plowed into by 18 wheeler on I-75. Driver waved us over and informed us that he did not see us till right on top of us. Problem appears to be systemic enough that the GMC service department told us that it was common enough that they kept the brake lights in stock. Additionally there are numerous threads about this issue on the internet and even utube videos on where to remove material to access the offending circuit board to repair the known faulty circuit. The failure of these brake lights could have cost my family and me our lives. The dealership wanted to charge 1600$ to replace the brake lights. I reiterate the brake light failure is common enough that there are numerous threads on the internet to discuss the known weakness of the circuit board.
Brake light on vehicle works intermittently and is no longer safe. This is a problem GMC is well aware of and no solution in sight. Cheap metal board brakes inside the lens and leaves you with no brake light. I do not want my family to be rear ended because of this professional grade? brake light failure, at any time on road. This is a 2016 GMC Yukon with 22710 miles as I write. Brake light has failed while moving on the city streets. This failure is currently on the passenger side brake light. Trying to make appointment for repair of this professional grade brake light? before the other one brakes and put my family at risk of a accident.
I have been notified on two occasions on the road that my tail light was out. When I was able to check them, both tail lights lit up then turned on. It must be an intermittent issue.
Rear passenger side light fixture led failed as a result of failure of metal contact point within led enclosure. Issue is well documented on the internet however GMC has failed to response. Vehicle is only 3 years old with 79,300 miles. Repair cost was estimated at $913.
Left and right brake/running lights work intermittently. Occasionally one side will work and the other doesn't and vise versa. More often than not, neither side works. Gm knows about this defect and refuses to correct the problem that their manufacturing caused. This is a major safety concern as my wife and three young children use this vehicle on a daily basis.
The contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact noticed water coming from the high frequency antenna, which caused a shortage to the gps and rendered it inoperable. The vehicle was taken to serra Chevrolet Buick GMC of nashville (2340 galatians pike n, madison, TN 37115, (615) 543-5456) where it was diagnosed that the high frequency antenna needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 9-5724166813. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.
My complaint relates to a known defect in 2015-18 GMC Yukon (and similar gm models) and defective brake lights. The left brake light in my 2016 GMC Yukon went out in approx early 2019. It was repaired under warranty. In November 2019, by right brake light went out. It was the same problem as the early broken light. I had less than 36,000 miles on the vehicle. I leased the vehicle in approx sept 2016 and the dealer claimed that the vehicle was past (less than 75 days) expiration of the 36 month warranty. So, the dealer quoted me $950+/- dollars to replace the entire housing. The dealer rep explained that the entire housing had to be replaced because it was led and didn't use a bulb. The dealer rep told me this is a common problem. I was incensed and refused to pay. I went home and googled the problem and found out that this is pervasive with the 2015-18 Yukon and other similar gm products. I also found a fix that was much less money only required about 2 hours of my time. This is a safety defect and, based on the dealer rep comment and google research, it is a well known problem. For example: https://www. Cargurus. . Read more...
Passenger side brake light stopped working (both in motion and stationary). It looks like many owners are also experiencing this problem, so would be great if an investigation could be started.
Both rear tail lights are out. The replacment for these are over 800. 00 and gm has know about this for years. Please help, as I cannot get my car inspected with the lights being out.
Brake lights & torque converter 2016 Yukon denali. The brake light is out on the passenger side. I brought it to the dealership, and it is within 2 weeks of the warranty expiring. They had to order the part because there's a national backorder for the assembly. So clearly I'm not the only one. Did some research and this is apparently an ongoing problem. This vehicle has been a hassle from the start. I'm beginning to believe there is an electrical issue as well. I had a battery issue that the dealership couldn't figure out even after showing them the onstar alert. Originally I was told onstar was probably just sending it as a mileage alert. Turns out after I insisted they put the vehicle on a machine and it showed the battery was indeed faulty. Multiple things have gone out on a vehicle with barely 30,000 miles on it. The torque converter is also a major concern because it shed metal pieces with the car having less than 20,000 miles they only drained the transmission fluid because that's what the bulletin told them to do. How is this not going to happen again? my Yukon drove like a lawnmower vibrating and hopping. This is the worst vehicle I've ever purchased, and with the issues that keep piling up it looks like we aren't anywhere near the bottom of the problems.
At less than 3 years old and 60k miles, the following has occurred at different times up until now: overall electrical malfunction including display illumination failure (display goes completely black and/or dim while driving - cannot see speedometer etc. This has happened multiple times while driving on both the highway and surface streets, including daytime and nighttime), audio/entertainment system glitches (radio volume changes to and gets stuck randomly on highest volume setting (was never even set to this level) while driving, causing sudden distraction/disruption), tail light malfunction (intermittently stops working both left and right sides), and now the motor to the sunroof has died (occurred while driving and at a moment when it was necessary to close for safety on the highway. ) the transmission is defective (for the second time - off shifts and downshifts unexpectedly while driving at both lower and higher speeds. Has happened on the highway requiring me to pull over and restart the vehicle. ) these incidents have been occurring for the past several months, but because they have been intermittent it has been hard to pinpoint when to bring in to the dealership for inspection.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the passenger side brake light failed to illuminated when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to greiner Buick GMC 14555 civic dr, victorville, CA 92394 (760) 245-3451 where the contact was informed that the tail and brake light assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000. Dr.
Rear brake light led strip is out. Vehicle only has 37k miles on it. Dealership will not repair it but wants to sell a new brake assembly for $750 each. If you tap on the light assembly, it comes on momentary and goes out again.
Tail lights alternating not working. There seems to be some electrical issue with the led tail lights. This is a massive problem and all over the internet. GMC is charging $1000 per tail light to fix despite this being a defect. . Read more...
The rear tail/brake lights on the GMC Yukon series have a defect that keep causing the running lights and brake lights to work intermittently. I had an entire new light installed and the same issue occurred within a few thousand miles. GMC is aware of this problem and has yet to issue a recall for these defective lights. Obviously this is an important safety feature of the vehicle in order to alert other drivers of mere presence, braking, and turning actions.
Running boards failing to work properly all the time. Sometimes will start to go down but return up when opening door. Will also fail to go up after closing door and remain down. Middle row dvd screen is black and not working. Rear brake lights working off and on. Horrible loud squealing sound under the hood. The vehicle will also begin to shake randomly and feels jumpy at times.
The right rear brake light quit working. Will come on when pushed against car. Dealer said it was electrical in the brake light unit.
Led taillight on 2016 Yukon denali is not working. This is the second time this has happened. This is a common issue and gm will not cover a known issue.
Rear passenger brake light stop working, vehicle is only 2 years old. We should not be having this issue so soon or at all, since led lights normally dont stop working. I also looked into fixing it and its gonna cost $700 dollars. This is ridiculous!.
The engine mounted mechanical vacuum pump output may decrease over time decreasing the amount of vacuum/ power brake assist. And the driverside brake stop light was defective. . Me and my wife were scared and shook up. . Yes. Dealership. . Dealership. No. .
Both rear tail lights have failed under 40,000 miles. Defective! please recall!!!.
Progressive intermittent brake light functionality that eventually culminated with complete inoperability; only the right/left brake light assemblies are affected; reverse lamps operate; upper center brake light functions normally; this is a known problem with GMC brake light assemblies per multiple forums.
GMC brake light failure - I own a 2016 GMC Yukon xl and after about 45,000 miles the brake lights have started intermittently not working. After having a GMC technician tell me that its a known issue and seeing hundreds of others posts online, it is evident that this is a very widespread problem. I was nearly involved in a rear end crash on the freeway because the driver told me I did not have any brake lights. This is a serious safety issue and GMC needs to correct it. They want me to purchase 2 replacement light units at 750. 00 each.
Gps/satellite antenna faulty due to water intrusion.
Both the driver and passenger brake lights are not functioning at all. Because it is an led lamp, the entire tail lamps assembly requires replacement at a significant cost.
Water leak due to bad front windshield seal, water leak through gps antenna, four wheel drive module was bad, dvd player stopped working, and lastly a horrible vibration that occurred around 77-83 mph. To the point the vehicle did not feel safe to handle. Trim on the b post kept coming loose. This all occurred in over a years period of time. This was my second vehicle because I traded in my 2015 tahoe because it was having many of the same issues and more. Gm did repair all issues other than the shaking, they wanted me to buy tires and after reading other complaints on the shaking I refused, the tires only had 25,800ish miles on them.
