6. 2 liter engine seized on the interstate, I lost propulsion as the car switched to neural on it's own. Auto was towed to applegate Chevrolet in flint, mi.
I am submitting a complaint regarding a serious engine failure in my 2022 GMC Yukon xl equipped with the 5. 3l engine (VIN: [xxx] ). The vehicle has experienced a complete failure of the lifters and camshaft. Prior to the failure, there were noticeable engine performance issues, including abnormal ticking noises, rough operation, and loss of power. The condition worsened rapidly, ultimately resulting in the engine becoming inoperable. This failure presents a significant safety concern, as the sudden loss of engine performance or power could occur while driving at speed, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicle is currently not drivable and requires extensive engine repair or replacement. Given the severity of this issue and the potential safety risks, I am requesting that this complaint be formally investigated. I understand that similar issues have been reported in vehicles with this engine, and I believe this may indicate a broader defect affecting reliability and safety. Please let me know if any additional information or documentation is needed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
We were driving on 95s when the Yukon denali automatically shifted itself from d to n. On the dash it had a warning message to press start again. When my husband did that we could smell a smoke smell. Meanwhile, we are in the middle lane of the highway while trying to safely get off the middle of the interstate without being rear ended by the semi that was behind us. We finally made it to the side of the interstate where my husband was able to put the Yukon in park. He was never able to get the vehicle back in drive. The car would never click back over to start up again. We had to have the vehicle towed to the nearest GMC dealership where it has now been for almost 3 weeks with no timeline for a date of a new engine. I was told it needed a new engine and radiator. Said the alternator was trying to catch fire when he was trying to start the vehicle. This is the second time the Yukon has been in the dealership in 4 months for this recall issue. This time it is 2hrs away from my home.
While driving in traffic on a 2 lane road with small shoulders, the engine stopped, dash indicated automatic shift to neutral, restart vehicle. Vehicle coasted to a stop partially blocking the lane due to lack of shoulder and size of vehicle. Turned off ignition and attempted to restart. There was a click and the dashboard/electronics all went blank/off for several seconds then came back on. Attempted this 4 times with the same results. Called GMC roadside assistance for a tow to the dealership. The vehicle could not be shifted to neutral due to not being able to start. The tow driver had to forcefully pull the vehicle onto the flatbed with the vehicle still in park. I do not know what method was used to get the vehicle off the flatbed tow truck. Vehicle was partially blocking the roadway for an hour before the tow truck arrived leaving me vulnerable to a high speed crash. And leaving the tow operator open to an accident during the 30 minute loading upon diagnostic the dealer informed me the engine has seized/locked up. All recalls for loss of propulsion were completed at 48,711 miles on September 7, 2025 passing inspection and dealer performing an oil change to 0w40 oil. Engine failure was 3429 miles after the recall was performed with 52,140 miles. There was no warning or difference in driving characteristics prior to failure. There was not a loss of oil pressure prior to failure according to dash gauges.
Monday, March 30, 2026 my GMC Yukon denali had already had the recall pico test and was told it passed on September 2025 six months later March 30, 2026, driving to pick up my wife from work a tapping sound coming from the engine started and about a mile down the road from when I first heard the tapping the engine started juttering and the noise got louder like a clunking sound. I had to pull off the road into a gas station and use the onstar to get assistance the vehicle was towed to a local san antonio dealership cavender Buick west they gave me a loaner vehicle the next morning and the day after that Wednesday I was informed that yes they confirmed the engine will have to get replaced so now I am waiting for that. I was told by the dealer it could take up to two months for them to receive a replacement engine and once they receive the engine, it can take roughly for maybe five days for turnaround. I inquired whether the replacement engine isn’t upgraded engine or is it the same engine that has all the problems I haven’t received an answer for that yet. I am awaiting that answer from my service advisor. He said he is looking into that.
My car lost all power on a bridge and started jerking me forwards and backwards. High rpms and eventually lost reverse. Code number p0777. Seems aligned with the newest transmission recall, but my VIN is not listed.
While driving on the interstate at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and stalled. I was forced to pull over. After stopping, the vehicle displayed a message to restart, but it would not start. All electronic accessories (lights, dash, etc. ) remained functional, but the vehicle would not shift into drive or neutral. The message “conditions not correct for shift” appeared. Nearly rear ended, this created a dangerous situation due to loss of power in active traffic and inability to move the vehicle on a 250,000 vehicle per day very busy tollway.
I took this vehicle in for the recall that gm had indicated. The vehicle was taken to a GMC dealer and “passed” the pico test and the oil was changed out as recommended. Two weeks ago, the engine completely seized while driving in the interstate and was towed back to the dealership. I am now waiting on engine replacement after passing their solution. The car has roughly 30,000 miles on it.
My transmission control valve failed while I was driving causing my speed to reduce on a high speed high. I know longer could go in reverse, about 35mph or above 2nd gear. This is a known issue on the 10 speed transmission for 2022 Chevrolet tahoe, suburban, GMC Yukon however my VIN number was not included in the recall but it happened to me. This was a terrifying situation and I am so shocked as to why my vehicle was not included in the recall to begin with.
While driving my 2022 GMC Yukon with approximately 150,000 miles, the engine suddenly began running rough and I immediately pulled over. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. The dealer diagnosed a collapsed lifter and camshaft damage and recommended full engine replacement at a cost of about $9,450. The vehicle had no prior engine issues and most miles are highway miles. Sudden engine failure while driving creates a potential safety hazard due to loss of power. I am reporting this because I understand there are ongoing investigations into gm v8 engine failures and I believe this failure may be related.
I was driving down the road and my vehicle went into limp mode, and I had reduced acceleration. I got to my destination then could not reverse the vehicle out of the parking space, reverse would not engage and allow me to have acceleration power. Because the parking space was on an incline we could roll backwards then drive forward, in limp mode, to a nearby mechanic. The vehicle diagnostic codes they got were: no reverse, p0700, p0776 and p18a1. They told us the repair needed would be to remove and replace the valve body assembly for $2,862. 40. There were no warning lights that came on prior to the incident. Once the vehicle went into limp mode the check engine light came on. We had a chevy dealer and got a second opinion at a transmission shop to check the transmission in December 2025, because we were concerned about a possible hard shift when shifting vehicle from park to drive, but both places concluded there were no problems. We now have had it towed to a transmission shop for a second opinion. It is available for inspection. We see a recall issued to other 2022 GMC Yukon xl that does not come up when we put our VIN # in, but could possibly apply to our vehicle too is recall #: n252536750.
On [xxx], my 2022 GMC Yukon denali xl (VIN [xxx] ) experienced a complete loss of propulsion while I was driving on [xxx] in el paso, texas, with my wife and two young children in the vehicle. Mileage was approximately 50,364. While in motion, the vehicle was displaying abnormal behavior, concerned the vehicle would stall on the highway, I exited at the geronimo exit. As the vehicle slowed, it shut down entirely. Multiple restart attempts failed. The dashboard cycled on and off, displaying a "service 4wd" warning while the vehicle was in 2wd mode. The transmission locked, and the vehicle became inoperable in the middle of the roadway with traffic passing on both sides. Onstar sos was activated to communicate the unsafe location. The el paso police department was requested to divert traffic. A city tow vehicle arrived after approximately fifteen minutes; my family was assisted across the roadway. Roadside assistance did not arrive for approximately three hours. This was the second loss-of-propulsion event on this vehicle in less than twelve months. The first occurred in March 2025 and resulted in engine replacement under NHTSA safety recall 25v274 (l87 engine loss of propulsion). The [xxx] failure occurred after the recall remedy had been applied and the engine was replaced. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who replaced the throttle body, intake air duct and a service item titled "repair open ground circuit". I am filing this report to document a second loss-of-propulsion event on a vehicle that already received the remedy under recall 25v274, and to ensure NHTSA has visibility into the potential pattern of recurring or inadequate remedy on the l87 platform. The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon xl. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle jerked as if the brake pedal was depressed and failed to accelerate as intended, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The message "reduced acceleration - drive with care" was displayed. The contact stated that when the vehicle was stopped, the gear shifter was shifted into reverse, but the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that there was a failure with the transmission valve. The contact was informed that the transmission valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon xl. While the contact’s wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly went into limp mode, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate to exceed 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission valve body had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
After a dealership repair to the rear differential, my 2022 GMC Yukon xl experienced a sudden driveline failure. A component detached underneath the vehicle, resulting in loss of control and immediate disablement. This occurred shortly after service and without warning. The vehicle is routinely driven at highway speeds while transporting multiple minor children. This appears to be a serious post-repair safety defect.
On January 24, 2026, my wife was driving the vehicle we purchased in may 2025 from ziegler GMC in lincolnwood, illinois. While traveling on the highway in WI the vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. She was traveling with our [xxx] son at the time and was able to safely maneuver the vehicle off the highway onto an exit ramp. Despite multiple attempts, the vehicle would not restart. She contacted me and arranged for a tow. We waited approximately four hours for roadside assistance before the vehicle was towed to the nearest GMC dealership, located roughly one mile from where the breakdown occurred. Several days later, the dealership completed diagnostics and informed us that the engine required full replacement. At that time, no replacement vehicle was provided. Approximately one week later, we were finally issued a loaner vehicle. As of today, the vehicle has remained in the shop continuously since January 24. On February 23, we were informed that the necessary parts had only just arrived. There is still no estimated completion date for the repair. The vehicle is covered under both the manufacturer’s warranty and an extended warranty. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Two weeks ago I heard a faint ticking sound. I had a professional look at it and they said that I had a cylinder sticking and to add an additive the next oil change. I still had 1,500 miles until then and so I did not do that. That noise stopped a day later. Last Friday, it started to tick again, and then it got very loud. I live rurally and was 45 minutes from home. The engine went from ticking to full clunking and very low power in just a moment. I luckily found a small engine shop to check the codes, but as I was parked there, the car would not go in reverse! he had to clear the codes to get it to go into reverse. I had to then slowly drive 45 minutes back to our small town. I drove to and immediately parked it at our local repair shop. It can not be driven now. The lights that came on were the rear axle system off, forward collision system, service traction control, engine light flashing, and service esc light. Not to forget that it would not go into reverse. Also the suspension system seemed to malfunction and not lift or lower the car. It seemed to clunk and try, but nothing happened. The whole car basically went down. I see there is a recall for this year or car, but my VIN is not included. I am hoping that it will be included as the repair shop is telling me it will be close to $10,000.
In 2023, the vehicle began exhibiting erratic transmission shifting behavior, including harsh and unpredictable shifts while driving. The vehicle was taken to a GMC dealer for diagnosis and repair. Recently, the vehicle developed additional drivetrain and engine control issues related to the crankshaft position sensor circuit. The vehicle stalled while driving on a highway mountain overpass with multiple vehicles traveling behind me. When the stall occurred, the vehicle shifted into park and would not restart for several minutes. This created a hazardous situation due to loss of propulsion in active traffic at highway speed and limited shoulder space. Following diagnosis, the servicing dealer determined that the engine wiring harness requires full replacement due to internal wiring integrity issues affecting critical engine control signals. The crankshaft position sensor and related wiring are essential for engine timing and propulsion. Loss or corruption of this signal can result in reduced engine power, erratic transmission behavior, stalling, or no-start conditions. The earlier erratic shifting behavior appears consistent with conditions described in gm technical service bulletin 21-na-149, which identifies engine harness-related causes for drivetrain and shifting concerns. This issue appears to involve degradation or defect within the engine wiring harness affecting engine management and transmission operation. Given that this condition resulted in a highway stall and temporary inability to restart, I am reporting this for investigation as a potential safety-related defect involving loss of propulsion.
Original inspection and recall was performed on my 6. 2 engine on 12/02/25 and the engine failed on 1/15/26 , the vehicle is in the shop awaiting new engine.
I noticed vehicle jerked a couple times when it shifted gears while driving. Shortly after, reduced power mode light came on. Vehicle did not shift past lower gears and had no reverse. Took to local dealership, they said it needed a transmission valve body overhaul. This is a known problem with 2022 GMC Yukon xl, however, they said it was not associated with my VIN. This cost me almost $2,000 out of pocket to repair.
My 2022 GMC Yukon with the 6. 2l v8 engine is covered under recall 25v274000 for connecting rod and crankshaft defects that can cause engine failure. Approximately three months ago, wiesner GMC dealership performed the recall inspection and stated the vehicle passed. Recently, the engine suddenly began misfiring on cylinder 6. The failure was sudden and severe—the vehicle started shaking significantly, the check engine light illuminated, and multiple safety sensors began deactivating. The vehicle was clearly unsafe to drive. An independent repair shop diagnosed oil leaking into the cylinder and stated the condition is consistent with internal engine component failure—the same type of defect the recall is meant to address. When I contacted the dealership to have it re-evaluated, they stated my vehicle is no longer under standard warranty and I would be responsible for repairs. After escalating to gm customer service, they confirmed extended coverage exists under special coverage n252494003 (10 years/150,000 miles) if the diagnostic confirms the issue is related to the recall defect. The fact that my vehicle passed the recall inspection three months ago and is now exhibiting the exact failure symptoms the recall was designed to prevent raises concerns that the inspection procedure may not be detecting all affected engines. The component (engine) is available for inspection. This defect poses a serious safety risk as the sudden loss of power and deactivation of safety systems could cause a crash.
There was an engine recall on the vehicle that was inspected and passed. My wife noticed the vehicle shaking while she was driving and the engine mounts ended up being broken. They replaced the engine mounts and they had it up on the lift when they reported that engine failed. They replaced the motor and gave the vehicle back to us. About 2 weeks later my wife noticed a grinding. She took it in and they said the differential needed to be flushed. That would be at our cost. Then they did that and it did not fix the issue. So they determined it was the rear differential that needed to be replaced. We got the car back after another 2 weeks and it was fine for about 2 weeks. My wife noticed another grinding and we turned it in before the warranty expired and now they have to replace the rear struts. All in all over the last 6 months the car has been in the shop for at least 2 months getting repairs because of major catastrophic failures in their components.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon xl. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 - 60 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended for approximately one second before accelerating. A dealer was contacted. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was in the process of towing the vehicle to another location. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact initially began to notice that no sound would emit from the vehicle while using her turn signals. The contact then stated that upon coasting into a parking spot while in reverse(r), the vehicle shut off while going over a bump in the parking spot. A red "park" warning light appeared on the instrument panel upon restart of the engine. The contact then stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle shut off while driving on a bumpy road. Due to the failure, the contact lost brake function and was forced to coast the vehicle to a stop. Once the contact restarted the vehicle, a "service transmission" warning light appeared on the instrument panel as the turn signal sound returned. The contact drove the vehicle home where it remained in her possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; they agreed to have the vehicle towed to a dealer to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
GMC refusing to provide new engine and repair. Gm sent letter with no date for repair. Gm will not provide alternate transportation. Gm states engine failure could cause loss of power resulting in an accident but will not provide alternate transportation.
Issue: transmission safety complaint: immediate reduction in forward motion dealer: dealer currently has the car, stuck transmission valve solenoid's. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer: awaiting backorder part to see 30 days warning lights: car had no current warning lights before car immediately down accelerated while on the highway.
Dropped my 2022 Yukon denali off may 7, 2025 to mike reed chevy due to failed transmission. Order was placed may 15, 2025 for a valve body part. Multiple phone calls were made without success on status of repair. I was forced to drive to the dealership for answers on June 10. I was told that due to my car being under warranty I am at the mercy of gm. The part needed is apparently on indefinite backorder. Contacted gm to expedite part and was told it could be 3+ months before I can expect my car back. Claim number with gm is 55328239. After doing research, there is over 2000 people who are experiencing the same issue. Mike reed chevy nor gm offered assistance with a rental to offset the inconvenience. It was only until I demanded to speak with the service manager that I was given a rental car. As someone who manages a hospital, the delay in obtaining this part has caused significant hardship, and to date, there has been no clear timeframe provided for when the part will become available or when repairs can be completed. As a consumer, I am left without reliable transportation as the dealership has requested me to return my rental. The lack of transparency or timeline for resolution is deeply concerning. This has not only impacted my ability to fulfill daily responsibilities, but has also raised broader concerns about the availability of necessary vehicle parts and the protections in place for consumers in similar situations. I am seeing guidance or intervention from your office to help expedite this matter, whether through direct communication with the manufacturer, identifying legal remedies available under consumer protection laws, or advocating on behalf of consumers facing unreasonable delays in vehicle repairs due to supply chain issues. Any assistance or direction your office can provide would be greatly appreciated.
On [xxx] my spouse was 20 miles west of jamestown, nd on [xxx]. Our 2022 GMC suddenly lost power at interstate speed, shifted into neutral. My spouse was able to coast the vehicle to avoid traffic and drift to the shoulder of the road leaving her stranded on the shoulder of the interstate. Vehicle has been towed to nearest gm dealer and diagnosed the problem related to recent recall. Gm has been less than helpful in this scenario. This has created an extremely frustrating issue as I am informed gm knew about this issue prior to issuing a recall which in turn resulted in unnecessary risk to myself and family. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Total valve body failure in the transmission at 30k miles. I was traveling with my daughter on the freeway at 65 mph and the vehicle went into limp mode. No indication of problems prior to this incident. Vehicle has been at dealer going on a month now. They have no valve bodies available, on a national backorder. They replace it with the valve body that is known to fail again. Gm knows about this problem and the solution they offered was only a software upgrade so the back tires don't lock up when this happens. My daughter and I could have been seriously hurt or killed.
Driving on the highway the engine suddenly revved high and suddenly went into limp mode on the highway. Reverse is no longer operational. 2022 GMC Yukon with 49,000 miles. Limped the vehicle to the dealership who has indicated it needs a new transmission valve body that is currently on national backorder given the prevalence of the issue. I have been requesting a work order denoting the failure and required repair but have not yet received from my dealership. I will pass this along as soon as I receive it. I spoke with gm customer service last night requesting their assistance in getting this for me.
Vehicle has no reverse. 21,750 miles and have been told by the dealer that it needs a transmission valve body which are unavailable at this time and it could be several months before they are able to obtain the valve body.
While driving in the left lane of the interstate at 70 mph, the engine abruptly shut off, shifting the car into neutral. The dashboard read start engine, which did not compute immediately. I quickly navigated to the right lane to assess the situation and eventually to the shoulder of the highway where I parked the vehicle. I was unable to to restart and had the vehicle towed to the dealership. It took ~6 hours for the onstar tow service to arrive.
While driving the transmission will slip/hard shift very aggressively causing the rear tires to lock up. This would happen at unpredictable speeds (anywhere between 10mph-65mph), this occurred for about 2 weeks before vehicle ever gave a code. Very scary and dangerous especially if you are in traffic since it essentially "brake checks" those behind you. The last incident that finally provided a code occurred at 50 mph when the rear tires completely locked forcing the vehicle in park. Could no longer drive the vehicle after this. The error code states that a rear body valve is needed for the transmission which the dealer is unable to get and neither the dealer or manufacturer can provide any estimate of arrival. Has been in the shop for almost 2 months now waiting.
At highway speed, in heavy traffic, and falling snow, the engine seized with sudden loss of power, including loss of brake and steering sensitivity. We were traveling downhill so, while avoiding other traffic and weather, maintained momentum to pull over to the side. We were stranded at night in snowy weather in remote utah. It took hours to get towed to the nearest town, fillmore, where the mechanic determined that the engine was seized and that no mechanic in the town could repair the issue. Gm would not tow vehicle to our home, they would only tow to nearest dealership - which was farther away from our home (over 3 hours away). After repeated attempts with gm for tow assistance over the course of 13 days, we towed the vehicle to salt lake city, our home city at our own expense. The dealer said 6 of 8 rod bushings were bad, ordered a new engine which took over 2 months to receive and install. Catastrophic event occurred [xxx], time trying to get gm to tow vehicle, ending with our own expense 2/26/2025, finally returned from dealership with new engine 5/1/2025 - 64 days from dealership receipt of vehicle - 77 days from catastrophic event. Continues to have electrical issues that affect controls like radio, ac/heat, start/stop. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Valve body needs replaced, been waiting over 10 weeks for replacement. Vehicle only has 28k miles and wouldn’t reverse or shift past 2nd gear.
My vehicle radiator fan immediately cut on high when I turned on the vehicle. The temperature of the vehicle was normal. I also experienced this when the engine was completely cold. I was assured there was no need to tow the vehicle but I could drive and schedule service with dealer. The software triggered a reduced acceleration condition. This did not allow me to accelerate as needed while navigating an interstate interchange.
1-'engine oil low add oil' warning sign is being displayed. Vehicle is burning oil with no leakages. Warning sign has come on multiple times; authorized manufacture dealer service center finds no failure. Independent service center finds oil consumption to exist without leaks anywhere and beliefs this is due to a known engine failure in this model. 2-'service transmission now unable to shift soon' warning sign appears while driving but authorized manufacture dealer service center is unable to reproduce or determine issue.
Sudden loss of power while driving approximately 60 mph. Dash saying "press engine start". The vehicle lost all functions while moving at about 60 mph with zero warning signs. After diagnosis with the GMC dealer, crank bearing failure led to complete motor loss. The concern was there was no warning signs, noises etc. That would allow to get the vehicle to a safe location off the road. We were lucky we were going straight and not on a corner and able to coast to a wide enough location to get the vehicle off the main lanes of traffic.
We were driving south on [xxx] when lights on the dash started flickering and the vehicle switched itself to neutral and had a sudden loss of power. We were lucky enough to get out of traffic and spent 5 hours waiting on roadside assistance and a tow truck. It was a very dangerous situation. The service department at sullivan GMC ocala (352)-414-4962 first said that replacing the fuel module would fix it. 5 days later they said it needs a new engine. They plan to replace it with the same 6. 2 engine. (same part number that is defective) the electrical safety system should be recalled. With no warning, the vehicle loses power and stops. GMC and every service department manager that I have spoke to knows about this issue. GMC continues to market and sell these engines and vehicles. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed because of GMC's negligence. GMC case [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was driving on an expressway in chicago heading to work at 5am on [xxx] morning. While driving my engine shutdown and I lost engine power to my vehicle while doing 70mph. There was no warning, no warning lamps and no noise to indicate there was any issues. The vehicle just died while I was driving. I had to coast to the shoulder with traffic all around me. Luckily I was able to avoid other vehicles and they were able to avoid me when they realized I was having trouble. Though there was a very close call where I almost got into an accident. When I pulled onto the shoulder the vehicle completely shutdown. It would not restart. I had to call a tow company to have my vehicle towed to the dealership. Luckily, I was able to find one nearby that was open at that time on christmas eve. The dealership mechanics went over my vehicle and determined that I had complete engine failure. The bearings on the bottom end of the engine spun out. I now need a complete engine replacement along with whatever other components were also damage. This incident was a major safety issue. I was luckily that I did not end up in a major accident due to the loss of complete engine power. This is a major issue that needs to be looked into and gm needs to be held responsible for not only my vehicle but all others that this is happening to. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The engine started making a rattling sound. Brought it to the dealer and they told me the engine is bad and it needs a new one. They told me this issue with lifters and the fuel management system is a common problem leading to internal metal components breaking. My car has been with the dealer since 12/30/24 and I was told this week from the dealer the problem is so big there aren’t any engines available and they have no idea when I’m getting it back. When I initially dropped it off, they said approximately a month. Now they are saying they don’t have a clue.
Engine failure as a result of a bearing failure. I have been waiting since December 3, 2024 for a replacement engine.
My transmission began having problems the day it was delivered to me. After the oil change which they delivered to me at low percentage was completed the motor was ticking. It has had a burning smell and has been in and out of the shop and going back soon. I was on the expressway and the speed declined with error messages on the dash almost resulting in an accident. No one is listening to my concerns and now the motor has a metal clinking noise.
I bought my 2022 Yukon xl on [xxx]. On Friday [xxx], only a few weeks after having my car in the shop (at the dealer) for running rough, it started to make an odd high-pitched noise and running very rough at higher speeds. I immediately called the dealer and asked how quickly I could bring the car in to be checked. They said they had no availability for over 10 days, and offered me an appointment for then. By the next morning, it seemed to be running better and I didn't have to drive much that day so I hoped it would make it until the appointment. That Sunday [xxx], my husband and I drove the car to a sporting event with our children and it seemed to be ok. On our way home, however, just after crossing a long causeway over the bay, the car's motor just stopped working in the middle of driving on [xxx] in miami. We were in the left lane and had to try to change multiple lanes while coasting only, and were only able to get off the traffic lanes because there happened to be a side street that came up quickly enough to turn onto before the car came to a stop. It was completely unexpected and without warning, and had we been on the interstate or even the causeway we had just come off of, it could've easily caused an accident with my whole family in the car. Once stopped, it wouldn't crank or even try to turn over, no matter what we tried. It took 2 tow trucks because we couldn't even change/move gears enough to put it in neutral, so couldn't use the flat bed that arrived first. We were stuck for hours in a less than desirable area of town. The dealer took a week to look the car over, then said the engine had seized up and would need to be replaced. The engine was on back order and it took over 6 weeks for the replacement. After replacement, 2 separate issues arose over the following 2 weeks, each the result of a component not being properly tightened during the engine replacement by dealer service technicians. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My wife and I were going 70 plus mph on [xxx] in georgia in the far left lane. Our car completely lost power were had to maneuver across 2 lanes to get to the emergency lane it was very scary traffic was blowing horns and it was awful. We made it to the emergency lane and proceeded north at a creeping pace with engine making lots of noise. We made it to a hotel next to [xxx] we were in savannah georgia. Transmission shifting gears sporadically between 49-57 mph and 19-24mph. If I’m driving at 53 mph, I take my foot off the gas and slow down to 50 mph, when I start to slowly accelerate again, it jerks and makes a loud noise as if the transmission has trouble shifting. Took it to the dealer 3 times now. First time they said they can’t find anything wrong. Second time they replaced a valve body that supposedly would fix it. It didn’t. Third time they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I don’t feel safe driving around my 3 kids all the time.
