I jumped in and turned the car on and started driving. Right away I noticed most of the warning lights were on. The first speed bump in the complex made me realize I had lost 80-90% of my brakes as if I had a broken brake line for example and steering was a little hard and pulling a bit to one side. I check underneath I did not have any leaks. I decided to take it to the dealer to have it checked. Dealer said they were not able to find anything and cleared the codes. [xxx] while driving on [xxx] myself and my family in our 2022 Yukon 6 lane highway 65 mph the engine lost power with no warning at all and left us with no power steering ,or brakes. This was in heavy traffic with other vehicles on our right and left side. I was able to put 4 way on and carefully move to the right lane and then barely to the burm. Vehicle would not restart and the sound of it was of rattle and groan. Yukon was towed to the nearest dealer and we were told it was a bad engine of either bearings or rods. We were very lucky to not having an accident and harm my family or other persons on the highway. When a new engine was installed it ran for ony 15 minutes and also was defective for the same issue. Vehicle was returned to us on 12/14/24 and we were denied any additional warranty. At this point I have no confidence in the vehicle or general motors. We took a financial loss when we traded the vehicle because of the major problems thru no fault of ours. The dealer would offer nothing as far as extending the warranty nor would GMC customer service that we filed a formal complaint # [xxx]. On January 21, 2024, my family and I went to lunch. As we proceeded to leave to return home when I pressed the brake the braking system, traction system, and forward collision systems all failed simultaneously, causing me to be unable to stop the vehicle which caused it to go through a stop sign while the brakes were fully depressed. Luckily, we were still in a parking lot, traveling only 5 mph. There was no oncoming traffic as we rolled through the stop sign. The following error messages displayed on the dash info screen brake system failure 43 mph top speed, forward collision system unavailable, service traction control, service brake pad monitor there was no warning from the display prior to trying to stop the vehicle that indicated there were any issues with the brakes. It wasn’t until I depressed the brake that I realized that the braking system was in total failure. After safely allowing the truck to roll to a stop, I turned the engine off, and then back on to see if that would reengage the brakes, but it did not resolve the issue. At that point I called an uber to take my family home and a tow truck to transport my vehicle to my local dealer, barker motor company. My fear is that this could have happened while we were on the highway traveling faster than 5mph in traffic, which could have been potentially fatal. After having my vehicle for a week to identify and repair the brake issue, was unable to identify the specific cause of the brake failure to repair and could not insure me that the brakes would not fail again. Instead, the technician replaced the battery in response to a low voltage code that showed in the dtc report. However, he could not provide an answer as to how that could have been connected to the total brake failure.
Vehicle was purchased Friday evening. Monday morning and 223 miles later, started vehicle, message "service abs - do not drive over 43(?) mph" came to a stop sign, vehicle in front already at stop sign, applied brakes, vehicle did not stop, swerved into other lane (on coming traffic) went through the intersection, avoided getting t-boned, turned up hill and vehicle came to a stop. Towed to dealership, awaiting diagnostic.
