Electrical System problem #1

First incident April 9 2024 not even a month after purchased. Vehicle dashboard lit up light a christmas tree all warning lights while driving on highway. Vehicle shook and sputtered and turned off. The vehicle was serviced explanation given was loose spark plugs on a new vehicle. 2nd incident roughly month after recall repair for engine propulsion campaign. February 26 and 27 2026 . While driving the following lights came on engine failure ,brake failure , service transmission now unable to shift soon. I was terrified because I could not control the vehicle. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The answer to the issues was battery failure. Third incident April 17th 2026 I driving on highway 70 miles check engine light comes on flashes dashboard goes dark. Vechicle sputters and shut down. I restarted the vehicle the warning on the display disappeared and the vehicle restarted. I reached returned the vehicle again to the dealership because the problem resumed slowing down even though I’m depressing the gas. Vehicle is shifting and dragging. Resulting unexpected lurching. My vehicle has been at the dealership since end of April 2026 it remains there currently. My representative stated a code indicating misfiring has appeared 18 times. Also everyday my vehicle keeps saying software update even I installed the update and it says complete. I know gm is not updating my vehicle software everyday. That indicates there is a computer issue as well. My anxiety level is through the roof at this point. I complained before about this same failures in a Cadillac escalade prior to it lurching forward and crashing. I filed a complaint before February 2024 . There is something really wrong with gm engines and software. I know I’m not the only one experiencing these problems.

Electrical System problem #2

From the time I got my 2024 Yukon denali I have had problems with the electrical systems not working, it was in the shop for 2 months upon delivery to me when it was brand new, and since then I have had issues with the engine racing, the start button not working, or cutting off and on , on its own, recently the motor cuts on but never turns over. It has been in the shop again for over a week now and they replaced the engine control module and it is still doing the same thing. The dealership is now telling me its a wiring issue causing it. It has been something the entire time I have owned it. I paid 90k for a vehicle that has major issues. I am looking into the lemon law in my state of nc, and filing a complaint with GMC to see if I can get a replacement vehicle or traded.

Electrical System problem #3

Vehicle shut-off while driving on the expressway, around 70-75mph. Upon vehicle turning off, I had no option but to "coast" off to the left side, which thankfully, freed me from traffic for the most part. If anyone who have been a foot over, they would've hit me. I have had numerous electrical issues with this vehicle and have taken it to the dealership but they have been "unable" to duplicate the issue. Vehicle was immediately taken to the dealership (and they still have as of this incident report submission). They told me last night that they will keep it again today and test drive it again to see if they can get it to do anything but if it doesn't show anything new, they have nothing to diagnose and will give me my car back. After requesting a copy of repair orders and a list of the history codes in my car, I am beside myself that anyone thinks giving me this vehicle back to drive is ok. See the history code report in documents uploaded. These are major safety failures in a large vehicle.

Electrical System problem #4

The SUV has 46,000 miles on it. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, prompting me to take it to the dealership for servicing. The diagnostic codes retrieved were u0285 and u1345. I was informed that the aero shutter required replacement. There was no physical damage; it merely ceased functioning. The dealership confirmed the active check engine light and conducted a diagnosis. While my safety was not immediately compromised, I felt extremely frustrated upon learning that gm would not cover the repair under warranty, despite this being a recognized issue that gm has yet to address. This situation is simply unacceptable and warrants further investigation and resolution.

Electrical System problem #5

This report documents two separate safety incidents involving the same vehicle that occurred on different dates. Approximately one month prior to the most recent incident, while driving my young children to school, the vehicle experienced a sudden and severe loss of braking effectiveness while in motion. I was unable to stop normally at stop signs and had to roll through and roll to a stop. I was required to press the brake pedal fully to the floor to slow the vehicle, and even then braking response was significantly reduced and not functioning as designed. The engine remained running and the vehicle could still accelerate. After stopping and restarting the vehicle, braking function temporarily returned. On a later date, while again transporting my children, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while driving. The vehicle abruptly shut down while in motion. I was unable to accelerate and experienced loss of power assisted braking. The vehicle only came to a stop after coasting. Following this shutdown, a burning or melted plastic odor was present. The vehicle was later towed and inspected by a dealership. The battery was replaced; however, this did not resolve the issue. After the battery replacement, the vehicle later hesitated to start again. The exact cause of these failures remains unknown. These incidents occurred without warning and represent serious safety critical failures involving braking and propulsion systems. Both incidents placed my children, myself, and other motorists at risk. Had either event occurred on a highway or heavily trafficked roadway, there would have been little to no ability to safely slow or stop the vehicle, creating a significant risk of collision or serious injury. Due to these events, I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle and have stopped driving it. The vehicle remains available for inspection.

Electrical System problem #6

I was driving on interstate and thank god I got off the exit and vehicle suddenly cut off. An indicator came on stating to push start to restart vehicle while the vehicle shifted to neutral on its own. Then a low oil pressure sign came up on dashboard. I tried push start again and nothing happened. Lucky by this time I was just off the exit so I was able to come to a stop and shift to park. I tried push start again and the dashboard just went dark and started making a clicking noise. After some time around 1 min I tried again and it did crank up and I was able to try and get as close the the edge as possible but still in a two lane road on the bridge of an off ramp. I say thank god because 30 seconds sooner I was going around 60mph with my 4 month old in the backseat. Lucky I got to the exit when this happened. From the research I have done apparently this happens a lot to this model I have 2024 GMC Yukon denali xl. I had a recall for this issues supposedly fixed back in October 2025. Things could of been much worse. Also this all happen coming from just having an oil change done at the dealer. Literally leaving the dealership going home. The dealership loaned me a vehicle they say for 3 days for free after that I may have to pay because it may not be covered by gm which is ridiculous. The vehicle is at the dealer and I will be waiting to hear there analysis.

Electrical System problem #7

Vehicle parked for extended period, 7-10 days, entered vehicle on 12/05/25 and proceeded to start - immediately service transmission appeared in display, check engine light on, dash flashing and door locks going up and down and chiming of alarms. Was able to place in reverse, backed up, put into drive and vehicle would move approx 5-8 ft, lock up and stop, start again and repeat, etc. . Put vehicle in low1 was able to get back in driveway and parked. Had vehicle towed to closest dealer who had a transmission specialist available and worked with gm warranty plus gm carbravo warranty to address issues (multiple dealers refused or didn’t have available personnel and/or were multiple weeks out for repairs). Called and advisor said I needed a new battery (22mo of a 36mo free battery replacement gm ac delco) and to have transmission valve body replaced and no tcm, 3-5 days for part delivery and that this was under a gm service bulletin # pip6069 (which I pulled up online), stated this repair (valve body) fixed most vehicles but knew of a few instances where complete gm 10spd transmissions had to be replaced. Glad this happened in my driveway versus while being on a long distance trip. Waiting on part delivery and unable to use vehicle due safety issue with transmission.

Electrical System problem #8

Vehicle was operating on the interstate with cruise control activated. Time was approximately 9:15pm. Weather was fair with temperatures in the lower 60's. Speed was approximately 73mph. Without any audible or warning light notifications the engine stalled and all exterior lighting, power assisted braking and steering was lost. The emergency flashers were immediately activated to warn vehicles in nearby proximity of our emergency status. I tried to restart the engine(the transmission was showing to be in n)with no success. During the attempt to restart, the exterior lighting was restored. With the path of travel now visible, I was able to slow the vehicle to a safe speed and exit from the roadway onto the shoulder. Upon stopping, the vehicle was placed into p and onstar was notified of the event. We remained in the vehicle until one of our friends was able to take us home. Onstar contacted aaa to remove the vehicle to the nearest gm dealership.

Electrical System problem #9

This is a post-remedy failure of recall 25v-274 (GMC 6. 2l l87 engine). Following a full engine replacement performed by the dealer under this safety recall, the vehicle has suffered a catastrophic electrical compromise. The vehicle is currently throwing codes p2534 (low ignition voltage) and u3018 (bcm communication). Safety hazards: the vehicle experiences sudden loss of power, engine stalling at highway speeds, and total failure of the exterior turn signals (hyper-flash). The ac system has been disabled by the body control module due to low voltage, creating a hazard in high temperatures. This vehicle fits the exact profile of NHTSA recall query rq26-001 and engineering analysis ea25-007. The manufacturer's remedy for the safety recall has failed to restore the vehicle to a safe operating condition, and the dealership is attempting to charge diagnostic fees to investigate their own defective recall workmanship.

Electrical System problem #10

Start transmission was replaced by dealer at 75 miles. 2nd transmission was replaced at 175 miles transmission was humming and slipped at around 30 to35 mph this was around April of 2024 August 1 2025 while driving at 45 dash board lit up went flashing and SUV slowed dramatically down to 30 mph got to dealership and they kept the vehicle for about a week and returned it with it being supposedly fixed. About mid October while driving at 60 mph it shut down again almost causing a wreck went to 30 miles per hour again. Hurt my wife’s neck when it reduced speed so quickly. Took back to dealership and I told them this car is dangerous this was with about 20 k miles been in shop was told it is scanning with 22 repair codes we have not had the car for 5 weeks and are trying to work with gm and dealer to get us out of it. But as of this report no progress. On interstate in city traffic this car will hurt or kill many people. I’m refusing to let my family or myself drive it. There is no warning when it will flash lights in dash and reduce speed. Also the front crash sensors went out and are currently not working we have all service records and paperwork that has been done including maintenance records we were given vehicle back with no warnings. I went to nita’s and ran VIN and it still shows issues. We are still making payments but driving a loaner car. The car is dangerous. I advised the dealer the first time it happened. I didn’t want it back. My wife went and got it and it sis it the second time and now she agrees it is dangerous contacted gm and they want to fix it but dealer implies they can’t ?. .

Electrical System problem #11

Windshield needs replacement – one side window installed incorrectly (huge gap) •trim peeling (inside and outside) •heavy rust in engine area •sunroof seals need replacement •all window tints need replacement •headlights not aligned – need new ones •taillights not aligned – need new ones •spoiler damaged – needs replacement •dashboard feels loose – needs replacement •door panel misaligned •rubber gaskets/seals smushed •seat covers smushed (from dealer) •paint peeling (sunroof, edges near wheels) •plastic components worn / damaged •front bumper misaligned •two front fenders need replacement •tow hitch cover needs replacement •cargo protector installed on exterior trunk sill •check engine / transmission alert showed in app (vehicle displayed “check 4x4” while driving) •bluetooth system not working everything on this car is not aligned this is a huge safety hazard on everything electrical, engine, visibility they won’t take responsibility they said they don’t have no update on recall it’s 7 months and the nhsta all won’t take responsibility I contacted them multiple times they just say contact gm for recall info 7 months.

Electrical System problem #12

I am the owner of a 2024 GMC Yukon (VIN: [xxx] ), purchased from hatchett Buick GMC on [xxx]. This vehicle was purchased at a high price with the expectation that it would provide reliability and keep my family safe. Unfortunately, that is clearly not happening. The Yukon continues to suffer from severe power loss that neither the dealership nor gm technicians have been able to diagnose or repair. In addition, this vehicle is subject to an unresolved engine recall, further undermining safety and confidence in the vehicle. Multiple times while driving I have had total power loss with no warning or indicators of this happening through lights or warnings on the vehicle. This is separate from the engine recall issues I am currently experiencing as well. While driving the Yukon will lose all electrical power. The vehicle is still currently at the dealership trying to be diagnosed. It has been 2 weeks. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Electrical System problem #13

I have had problems with the navigation system where the screen goes blank. The radio is not responding and screen is black. When turning on the signal light you can't hear it. The speed limit in my town is 25 and after an update from the dealership it now says 55. I get an alert saying frontal crash not available atleast once a month. There are times when we are driving and we get the red alert as to detecting an object and there is nothing there. Parking assits does not work all the time.

Electrical System problem #14

Engine was replaced 11/24 found toe bar loose and rear passenger tire had excessive slack in it, well liners were broken off and missing 2/25 oil loss and had to have oil changed early 4/21 start button will not engage, truck is completely blacked out, no power to it for several minutes then it will crank. Been in the shop as of now 3 times in the month of may 2025.

Electrical System problem #15

Today while exiting an off ramp. I stopped for traffic signal. Truck immediately lost power and shifted to neutral. I placed my 4 ways 1. Put the people back in park restarted the ignition truck fired up. This is concerning as I've never had a vehicle with five thousand miles brand new shut off on me.

Electrical System problem #16

The engine of my 2024 GMC Yukon denali failed unexpectedly at 45 mph, shutting off without warning and shifting into neutral. My wife, three passengers, and two dogs were in the vehicle, which coasted to a stop. After several attempts, it restarted, and the check engine light illuminated. Alpine Buick GMC confirmed catastrophic engine failure, requiring replacement of the engine, radiator, hoses, and other parts. The vehicle remains at the dealership, and the failed components are available for inspection. This sudden shutdown posed serious safety concerns. My wife lost control over acceleration and power steering, increasing the risk of an accident. Had this occurred on a highway or in traffic, the consequences could have been severe. This raises concerns about the engine’s reliability and potential risks to other drivers. Alpine Buick GMC confirmed the engine failure and the need for full replacement. I am the sixth customer awaiting this repair, indicating a broader issue. The estimated wait time for an engine is two weeks to three months, creating a significant disruption. Inspection by manufacturer, police, or insurance the vehicle has been inspected by dealership technicians but not by GMC representatives, police, or insurance adjusters. I am open to further inspections to determine the cause and assess whether a recall or corrective action is necessary. No warning lights or symptoms appeared before the engine shut down. The check engine light illuminated only after restarting on the third attempt. The absence of prior alerts suggests a flaw in the vehicle’s diagnostic system. Expedited engine replacement – given the safety risks, I request priority replacement. Investigation into failure cause – GMC should assess whether this is a manufacturing defect. Review of similar cases – if widespread, a recall or service bulletin may be necessary. Better communication – regular updates on repairs and GMC’s actions are needed. I expect prompt action to resolve.

Electrical System problem #17

I purchased my new GMC Yukon xl in October 2024. In February, with about 9,000 miles on it, I was approaching a highway intersection and beginning to brake. My vehicle put itself into neutral, and then shut off -- while I was still moving. No dash lights came on, except for a message stating that I needed to press the brake and restart my vehicle. I took my vehicle into the dealership where I purchased it and they kept it for 8 days. They were unable to reproduce the issue and didn't do anything to mitigate the problem except for doing a "radio update" and adding lubricant to a window track. I was told I have to wait until it happens again and try to record it.

Electrical System problem #18

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the engine suffered a catastrophic failure, including a bottom-end bearing failure, causing the camshaft to seize, the flywheel to shear off, and metal to spread throughout the engine, cooling system, and radiator. This also tripped the main fuse, resulting in an electrical short. The failed engine is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was driving on a 55 mph highway when the engine completely shut off without warning. Losing all power while traveling at highway speeds was extremely dangerous, and I was barely able to glide the vehicle to the side of the road before it lost momentum. It is terrifying to think of what could have happened had I not been able to get out of the travel lane in time, especially with other vehicles moving at high speeds around me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, the dealership diagnosed the issue and confirmed the engine failure. They have determined that a full engine replacement is necessary. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has been inspected by an authorized GMC dealership service center. I have not yet had it inspected by any other parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning lights or messages appeared before the engine shut off. The failure was completely sudden and unexpected, with no prior symptoms or indications of an issue.

Electrical System problem #19

I constantly get the frontal crash not available warning the navigation picks up on conversations stereo freezes navigation screen has been blank no map data visible screen will not change from daylight to nightime anymore (I have taken the vehicle twice to the dealership and have it repaired then it happens again) when driving the vehicle will randomly brake and says something is near when there is nothing close.

Electrical System problem #20

2024 GMC Yukon with less than 2,000 miles decided not to start one day. Had a tow truck come to the house and pick it up to take to a local shop to get a new battery. Replaced the battery and the battery shop delivered to car back to our house and was totally fine…the next day we went to start it and again the battery was toast. So, got another tow truck to deliver to the dealership and had it checked out, the dealership says there are 12 codes popping up and they can’t figure out why the batteries are not holding at this point. This is a diesel Yukon. We had a 2022 escalade that the motor went belly up on us 3 times before we bought this diesel Yukon thinking this problem would go away but I guess I was wrong. I will be returning this Yukon to the dealership and doing a buyback. We have been stranded way too many times with these gm vehicles and I’m starting to loose trust with general motors.

Electrical System problem #21

While accelerating up to 55mph, the vehicle automatically shifted into neutral without warning. We tried to shift it back into drive, nothing happened. We pulled off the road to try and shift in a reduced speed and still nothing. We finally came to a stop and tried to shift it into drive, still nothing. There was an error message: “conditions not correct for shift”. We place vehicle into park, turned off the engine and tried to restart. The engine wouldn’t turn over. A police officer stopped and tried to jump the battery, nothing. The dashboard and lights turn on, but there was zero turn over with the ignition. We continued to try it to no avail. We had a tow company come and unplug the battery to try a system reset, and still nothing. Car was towed with no ability to get it into neutral.

Electrical System problem #22

Since purchasing the vehicle in September with 8 miles there have been several electrical malfunctions. Some “fix” themselves when I restart the vehicle and several have needed to go into service. The first issue was when my mirrors wouldn’t come back up when switching to drive. I disabled the reverse tilt option and had it serviced to be fixed. Apparently it needed an update. More recently I had several malfunctions. My vehicle would lower its self while still in gear, and it wasn’t the normal self leveling. I didn’t not have any warning lights or messages pop up. The next time I started my vehicle and had “service rear axle” warning. I called the local dealership and after restarting the vehicle several times and more error messages, I decided to attempt to drive the vehicle in, all the while recovering several message warnings. On the way I was increasingly loosing brakes and I rolled into their parking lot with no breaks. Since this episode I have had repeated lost connection codes without dash warnings. They first attempted to reprogram the brake control monitor. Then when it continued to lower itself and have other malfunctions it went back into service. They replaced the serial data gateway and reprogrammed it. Since then the vehicle is having lost communication codes every day. It is currently in service to try and figure out what’s causing it and hopefully fix it.

Electrical System problem #23

Two weeks ago, while driving on the highway, our Yukon suddenly quit accelerating and flipped into neutral. We had to quickly pull over to the left shoulder with our entire family. We put the vehicle into park and tried to restart, which it wouldn’t do. We ended up having to call onstar and having it towed to the nearest dealer. They “repaired it,” yet a week later, the same thing happened while pulling up to a stop light. This time we were 4 hours from home and on a weekend. While waiting for a tow truck, the police towed it to an impound lot. Lots of money, time and red tape to get it out of the impound lot to the nearest dealer to have it looked at. It’s been there almost a week and all I’ve heard is that it’s most likely the motor but they still haven’t confirmed.

Electrical System problem #24

Aside from constant electrical issues with the serial gateway module that gm refuses to replace many safety features fail regularly most importantly this replacement Yukon for the 2023 with engine issues also has engine issues and the same 6. 2l engine. When leaving my home and or driving on any decent up or downhill road and coasting the vehicle will misfire and trigger the mil to flash. I’ve taken it into the dealer many times for this and in the end they say it’s a software problem with afm disabling 5 cylinders. They claim that the geometry of the vehicle along with having 5 cylinders disabled causes the engine to vibrate enough to make it think it’s misfiring. This came from their factory field service tech. They refuse to fix it. They refuse to put this on paper. They told me if I wanted it fixed, I could buy a 2025 instead. This is insanity.

Electrical System problem #25

Audio intermittently goes out. This includes radio sound, onstar blinker indication sound, audible safety warnings and pedestrian alerts.
