1 Electrical System problem of the 2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/19/2018

All three of my door locks no longer lock electronically. They must be locked manually. I have two children and this is a major safety concern. Many complaints have been filed to gm indicating that this is a manufacturing error. My car has 85000 miles and many that have complained have far less. This is clearly an issue that should be recalled. I reached out to gm with no solution offered other than them basically saying I am on my own. They did offer to help me find a local dealer I could shell out my money to. Please help. This issue occurs when the car is at rest and in motion.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

Sometimes when I come to a stop my vehicle goes into the autostop mode, but when I go to accelerate it doesn't come out of autostop and jerks really hard then stalls out. Once I put the vehicle in park and restart it, it cranks right up but the check engine light comes on and stays on for about a day and then goes off on it's own. I have taken the vehicle to GMC dealership twice and paid out about $700 for repairs that did not solve the problem. The dealership claims to not be able to find any codes even with the check engine light on. I have been close to being hit from the back on at least 3 occasions because the vehicle initially moves slowly before jerking and stalling. Please help myself and others with this similar problem get help because obviously the dealership isn't concerned with our safety as well as our children.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/19/2014

Upon being stopped at a light at a main intersection and then making a left hand turn, the vehicle shut down and the check engine light came on the panel. We were able to coast to the side of the road. After a few minutes, the vehicle started up for about 2miles then shut off again. The dealer was not able to replicate and said no issues found. They gave us the vehicle back only to have the same issue 5 days later in which the vehicle was towed back to the dealer. Diagnostics then showed a new battery was needed (?) and a sealant resealed. Well, a few days later (less than a week) it happened again. The dealer has since had the vehicle, claiming nothing is wrong and has not been able to replicate. (all instances were during constant rainfall and the vehicle being driven at least 15-20minutes in the rain. ) we bought the vehicle used, bought a warranty and are now stuck with trading in the vehicle!!.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

My truck accelerates and abruptly stops while slowing down under 20 mph. Under 20 mph the engine is suppose to switch over to connect to hybrid battery system. Sometimes the vehicle abruptly stops while turning or sometimes the car cuts all the way off. I purchased the vehicle in 2010 and I have reported this problem since 2013. Overtime I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they would tell me that they couldn't duplicate the problem. I recently had major engine problems involving the lifters according to their diagnostic machine. The cost was 6000 to repair. After repairing the lifters the car still has the spontaneous accelerating and stopping issues. We were told by the service manager at Chevrolet that we should "just dump the vehicle and they had a hybrid in the back they had over a month and they can't figure out whats wrong with it". I paid over 38,000 for this truck at their dealer ship. Ive invested thousands in repair costs. I won't sell it because I know it has safety hazards. I drive with caution because I don't know when to expect the car to accelerate.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/05/2012

The contact owns a 2008 GMC yukon denali hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, he applied the brakes but noticed that the vehicle had independently converted from the gasoline mode to electrical hybrid mode. The vehicle then stalled but regained power once the vehicle was at a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but they could not diagnose the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/11/2012

75% of the electric door locks on the above described GMC yukon, including both rear door locks have failed in the locked position. This failure makes it difficult/impossible to open the doors - especially the rear doors. Because the car has only one exterior door lock; in order to open the interior manual rear door latches in an emergency, one must try to climb over/between the front seats (the head rests are no longer removable) - a stretch of 4'4" from the edge of the front seat to the latch which is located at the rear of the rear door. Should one attempt to access these locks through the rear tailgate, it is a long reach of 6' 6" over the third row seats. In an emergency situation, the above described failure, can easily trap infants and children in the back of the car, creating an a serious health and safety problem.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/21/2011

I have had repeated failures of all the door locks in my yukon. They will only work manually not with the auto lock feature. Safety is a concern as you need to remember to lock the door manually and then unlock it manually to get in the car. The auto door lock feature (locking at 5 mph or above) also does not work inviting a car jacking incident. I have had 3 replaced under warranty and now a 4th door is affected.
