2 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2022

The seatbelt srs system light was previously identified as defective by american Honda. When my notification light came on I immediately took vehicle to Honda dealership for repair. I have been forced to do so multiple time during my vehicle ownership. Currently the srs light has come back on yet Honda refuses to fully and completely repair the cause. I fear for my safety and others should an unfortunate accident were to occur. I reported the issue to american Honda. Incident report number 12902734.

3 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2020

Had driver seat belt buckle replaced 6/11/20 as srs light came on. Unaware there had been a recall, work not done at Honda dealer, paid out of pocket. Code 9-3. Exact same problem occurred again in early June 2018 where srs light came on. Went to Honda to purchase part, learned several days later there was an active recall for the driver seat belt buckle issue. Honda dealer did not advise active recall for issue at time part was purchased. Purchased part, learned of recall, Honda dealer repaired at no charge to me. Eighteen months later, exact same problem and code. No open recall at this time. Clearly there is an issue with the seat belt buckle/sensor failing so the airbags will not deploy. I am not going to pay again to have this issue resolved. Received safety recall notice from Honda and I am on a waiting list to get the airbag issue resolved as there is an open recall for the airbags but the seat belt problem is ongoing. Vehicle was stationary. Started car, srs light was illuminated, had code read and learned it was the driver's seat belt buckle that has gone bad again.

4 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

The "srs" light is on in the dashboard. It has been determined that the passenger seat belt latch is faulty. It is dangerous to ride a passenger in this vehicle for fear that the seat belt would not work properly if the vehicle was in an accident or just hit by another driver. Please advise on the repair procedures. The pixels on the mileage and miles driven is not working properly. The mileage and miles drives numbers cannot be read.

5 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

"takata recall" srs light has remained consistently on in the instrument panel since 10/20/16. I was told by the garage that services my car that I need to have my airbag replaced. The light had come on after I started my car, and it has not shut off since.

6 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2016

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. While driving 10 mph over potholes or bumps in the road, the seat belt ratcheting system tightened up the passenger side seat belt. The seat belt failed and would not readjust tension until unhitched and returned back to the start position. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN and failure mileage were unknown.

7 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2015

The arm broke into on my car. The welding was bad. Also the clear coat look awful, it was painted cheaply and , it a eye sore. I just want it fixed . I love my car, but should not have to deal with recalls.

8 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

The passenger side seatbelt locks prematurely at low speeds and will not retract properly. We were told by the dealer that seatbelts are not under a lifetime warranty if it is mechanical in nature. The passenger seatbelt also grinds when pulled and the dealer is being difficult to repair. The driver side seatbelt is slow to retract but appears to be working properly.

9 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

I have had trouble with my Honda's seat belt staying locked in. I've also have the srs light on after a battery change. I figured out how to reset it but it comes right back on. I have taken the car into Honda and they tell me my car is "not affected" by any recalls. . . I explained the seat belts are supposed to be covered under a lifetime warranty. They wanted 125. 00 diagnostic fee to determine if it was the seat belt and what the code is if it isn't the seat belt I have to pay the diagnostic fee and 800. 00. To get the airbags to work for something that is supposed to be covered under a lifetime warranty,. I even tried going back to a different service adviser. Reading online I see that many people have the srs failure and some suspect the cause relates to battery and alternator voltage! appears to be a convenient failure to state whatever they want and get the owner to pay! recently, Honda has had to recall airbags. Maybe it's a blessing that people's airbags have been rendered useless since they blow up and have killed people!! I hope the NHTSA realizes how many peoples airbags haven't even been working! well surprise, my car isn't covered under the latest airbag replacement. I am most dissatisfied with Honda they are not standing behind their products and don't seem to care if they lose customers (by death or otherwise). I tried calling there 800 number several times to no avail they were rude and condescending. This was my 3rd Honda and my last. The recall even states there is not to be a charge to check this however, they will not without me paying there fee! don't care the NHTSA and Honda's own recall notice is irrelevant to them. In light of the latest issues with airbags I think I will write an editorial for the local news or maybe call the local television station to highlight this issue ongoing blatant disregard for their customers.

16 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2010

I am not on the recall list however I called Honda as the srs light remains on. After speaking to 4 representatives at Honda they informed me that the previous owner responded to a recall in 2006 service bulletin recall 06-009 - code opds which is for faulty airbags and seatbelts. The previous owner had repair done According to Honda 3/31/2010 - 10 year warranty. I bought this car at 89000 odometer on 10/11/2012. Approx. 6 months ago the srs light came on. I contacted Honda with no assistance as they said there is a 10 year warranty on this recall. Yesterday I started by getting assistance from emily, briana, nicole and alexis at Honda - case no. N012015-05-2002159 and to expect a call from Honda. Yesterday afternoon james (no id or last name) regional case manager. He informed me that he could not assist me. 1. I am not the original owner. 2. I am not a loyal Honda owner as I have not bought another Honda. 3. No repairs through Honda. 4. The car is over 10 years old. I informed him to check another recall which supercedes the previous recall and dated 3/14/2006. He informed me to have the repair done at my expense at Honda and the case is closed. I told him that this was a fault with Honda and it is not 10 years since the recall and I fear driving my only car with an enormous problem in case of an accident - seat belts and airbags and an enormous danger to me and my grandchildren. He informed me that this was not his or Honda's responsibility. Please help me. I need Honda to take responsibility.

17 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

Srs light illuminated, airbags will not deploy if involved in accident. This has occurred on our 2000 Honda Accord with 67k miles on it. We understand that the warranty has been extended for this issue to 10 years or 150k miles, ours is now ten years old. We feel this is unacceptable and that Honda should cover this for the lifetime of the vehicle. This is why people buy vehicles with all the airbags. . . Safety! Honda should cover this problem no questions asked!! for life.

18 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2010

Honda Accord 2000 srs light on and stays on. Checked on line many Honda owners have that issue and airbag would not deploy. Called Honda customer service told me my VIN is not covered under their extended warranty, need to pay for diagnostic check. This is serious safety issue, wanted to bring to your attention.

19 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2009

For no apparent reason at all (no moisture problem; no cell phone, computer, etc. Use; no disconnecting anything at all, much less related to seat belts, passenger seat occupancy, seat removal, etc. ) the srs light came on and has remained on for many months. Google shows this to be a widespread problem, which has triggered a very wide range of responses from Honda. This has been a wonderful car given timely completion of all scheduled maintenance. But the srs light problem, since it involves the safety restraining systems, should be guaranteed for the life of the car. But, given the various ways people with this issue have been treated, I am reluctant to take the vehicle to Honda. It may only require a reset for the light, which should cost nothing. But charges for a diagnosis are in the $70-100 range. Then, if there is actually a problem with safety, fixes have cost in a range of $600-1500. The whole situation is absurd.

20 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2009

I have a 2000 Honda Accord. The "srs" light came on the dash and stays on whenever the ignition is on. I took it to the dealer and they told me it is a switch within the driver's side seat belt buckle. They told me the belt and the buckle are covered under the seat belt warranty but the switch is not covered and the diagnostic test is not covered either. The whole assembly is part of the safety system and should be covered along with the diagnostic test.

The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer for repair, but they could not make the repairs. She was advised to call the Honda manufacturer to check if the recall pertained to her vehicle. The failure mileage was 165,041.

23 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2009

The srs light came on and has remained on since. My car is garaged, has 48,000 miles on it and has suffered no accidents. Your listing shows that many other Honda Accords have the same defect. Since this is a safety device I feel NHTSA should treat this seriously.

24 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2008

Srs light is on constantly. Paid dealer $100 to diagnose problem. I was told that both the left and right seat belt buckles need to be replaced at a cost of $600. I feel that this should be covered by the lifetime seatbelt warranty.

25 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2008

In may of 2008 my 2000 Honda Accord lost power while driving and would not restart. All of the gas ran out from the front of the car. The computer board had gone out. The computer board was replaced by another mechanic and then was towed to the Honda dealership to be reprogrammed. Since then it has gone back and was diagnosed with misfires. The coil packs , plugs and wires, fuel injectors, egr valve all have been replaced. The car is still spitting and sputtering like it is running on 4 cylinders and it is a v6. I have researched and there seems to be alot of these problems. Also the srs light stays on and you can turn the car off and remove the key without the car being in park. I never received any kind of recall from the dealerships on this recall. This car was bought new in 2000.

26 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2007

The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the srs (safety restraint system) lights illuminated in her vehicle and would not dim. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the passenger side seat belt switch was the cause of the failure. The manufacturer asked her to sign a release, but the contact refused. The parts for the repair were ordered in March of 2008 and when she called again in April 10, 2008, she was informed that the parts were on backorder. Most recently, when she went to the dealer to check the status, she was informed that there was no record of the order. The current mileage was approximately 47,800 and failure mileage was 45,834. Updated 06/16/08.

In the mean time, the dealership stated that the air bags in my car are not working because of the srs light being on.
