Failure Date: 04/25/2023

Rear sub frame allowed for rear suspension arms to be bolted to. One of the locations where those arms have ways to be attached to is no longer safe to do so because of corrosion and rust. I noticed there was a recent safety concern for a generation of Honda crv having a similar, or indeed the same complaint.

Honda Accord paint completely fades after 10-15 years of owning the car, very embarrassing to drive the car. This did not happen to Ford mustang and Cadillac escalade I own that are at same age. I would like this issue be resolved during recall.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2017

I was going back home from work at 5. 50 am in the morning in my Honda Accord. I lost control over my car and hit side walk and a mail box on the right side of the road my car toppled on the left side. The driver side window was under my feet as the car toppled and the passenger side door window was on the top of my head as I was standing in the a toppled car. To come out of the car I removed the head rest from the drivers seat and started hitting the window glass to break it with metal part of the head rest. I hit it as hard possible, I brought the head rest down to my knees to gather force, distance and speed so that the window glass can be broken and I can come out. I tried for few minutes but the window glass did not break. I want bring it to the attention of you all that if a window glass cannot be broken with metal in case of emergency in the car. The trapped people will burn to death. Takata recall I was driving down the road when I lost control of my car. This resulted in my air bag being deployed as I came into collision with a guard rail on a city street. Luckily, only the passenger side airbag deployed. This resulted in my windshield being cracked.

A few years ago the paint started wearing away and now it's pitted all over the car after normal use and driving. It looks horrible, so bad that people keep asking me what's wrong with my car.

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

Several years ago, the clear coating on the top, back area of roof started peeling off and this year it became bigger about the size of 6 " x 18 " area. Despite to my complaints to Honda service dept. , the auto body shop said it requires whole top rework is the only option that I have to pay for. Last June, I reported to complain Honda service dept manager, I was told to buy the paint pens for $15. 00. Even though I bought it, I have not apply it yet because the problem requires professional work to be done. I requested that Honda is to be responsible to cover the work expenses, not me. After the service manager took the pictures of it, he claimed he will send paperwork to home office for review. I requested several times for a copy of paperwork to prove his claim he had processed the paperwork with photos. He never give to me. Only he claimed he has not heard form corporate office. Our last contact is last August. I researched recall and learned that civics are the only one being recalled for bad painting job. I request for an investigation that Honda should recall for Accord 2003 painting job, not just the civics! I can provide the photo when you contact me because I could not upload it to the desktop from my cellphone,.

Called american Honda today on a different matter. My concern was if the air bags in my car were manufactured by the company that is presently in the news. The case manager ,chris, assured me that the air bags in my Accord were not subject to recall. However he was unable to advise the manufacturer of the air bag. Furthermore he did advise that media reports and information from nhtsb were not totally accurate and erroneous. I did ask him to send me a written correspondence that my air bags were not subject to recall and would not explode by accident. He declined to do so. I guess Honda does not want to place itself in a product liability issue with me.

There is excessive rusting on the: wheel wells and in spots throughout the painted surfaces of the car. The rust on the painted surfaces do not seem to originate from any damage to the paint's integrity (they start as bubbles that then break, showing bare metal past the primer). I have noticed these since the car's first year of ownership (2003) and new spots appear continuously. . Read more...

Driver's car (left front) keyhole won't accept my key, electronically. I went to different auto services and have the same comments that most of the complaints were the same. I checked the internet, youtube. Com, many owners of the same make, model & year have the same issues and problems, even the Honda chat room help site. I thought this is an isolated problem, but it's not, if there is some ways that your company could do something about this matter/issue concerning the manufacturer's (Honda) defect issue, please let us know, we don't want to shoulder to expenses on their behalf. Thank you very much for your concern and looking forward to hearing from you the soonest and for the immedtiate response to repair the problem for the inconvenience that we are experiencing for a long time. I have tried cleaning the inside of the keyhole by air pressured and wd 40, nothing happened. I can insert the key halfway only and then it will stopped. All other keyholes are functioning well, except the driver's keyhole.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

The paint on this car has drastically began to peel and show chalky white. I thought to speak to the dealership about possible coverage in repainting but sat on the task. However, in the past few months ive been noticing this issue with the paint to be occurring on other Accords that appear to share not only make and model but year and color. This is not supposed to be occurring on our cars and this utter humiliation deserves repair.

12 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2012

My current complaint is deteriation of the paint on the roof and trunk deck of my nighthawk black Accord. I have taken my concern to the service manager, american Honda and the regional Honda sales manager. In each instance I am told my vehicle is due to the age and mileage of my vehicle. This issue is caused by environmental exposure. The paint warranty is only for 3 year/36 miles. This is a known issue with Accords, civics, etc. Honda does not want to stand behind defective paint.

13 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Clear coat is peeling off entire car.

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2010

Both front doors on my 2003 Honda Accord 4 door will not stay open when opened. When either door is opened to the fully opened position, then released, the door will usually swing shut on its own. I feel that this is a safety issue because it could cause an injury during an unexpected closing. This problem can be corrected by the replacement of a part in each door. Honda will not fix the problem unless payment is made for parts and labor.

15 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

Clear coat began separating from the paint and has only gotten worse. Now vehicle is in unsaleable condition.

16 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2008

I own a black Honda Accord purchased new in 2003 from robertson Honda north hollywood. After about five years of ownership I noticed the edges of the roof starting to fade, at first I though it was just a little wax left on, but after I couldn't remove it I knew there was a problem starting. Every time I would go in for service I would mention it to the service writer but they would just brush it off. I still wash my Honda once a week sometimes more and wax it every three months but its starting to look pretty bad. I am afraid its going to get in the metal and rust. Please help me and all the other Honda owners I see every day on the way to work [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Body problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2007

My 2003 Honda Accord exl started to rust through the left rear wheel well lip this past winter. The car has been meticulously maintained with the records to prove so. The car was damaged at the back edge of the left rear door and repaired at the body shop both joyce Honda and grecco auto body are subsidiaries of the grecco auto group selling & repairing Hondas. The Honda factory rep. Said the rear quarter panel would have to be replaced but that the rust was due to the accident and subsequent repair and therefore Honda was not responsible. The Honda dealers body shop and state farm insur. Claims rep. Maintain that the rust was far behind the area that was repaired and was not due to the accident. Attached are photographs of the small dent by the door just above the body trim line and the rust at the very top of the wheel opening. In essence, the service manager of joyce Honda and the factory rep (who would not give me a business card or name) said the rust is a result of the repair and not their responsibility. While grecco auto body and the auto inspector for state farm insurance said the rust is far to the rear of the repaired area and not the result of the repair. I had the repair done at the dealers body shop to avoid a situation as this where no one is accepting responsibility to correct a problem. Thus the three entities of the same business, Honda motor CO. , joyce Honda dealership, and grecco auto body are blaming each other and my car continues to prematurely rust through. Attached are photographs of the rust, the car, and the itemized repair as well as contact information of parties involved. I am expecting Honda to honor the rust perforation warranty. The consumer stated the catalytic was replaced under warranty on July 10, 2009. Now less than a year later, the consumer was informed it needed to replaced again. The dealer informed the consumer Honda would not stand behind the replacement catalytic converter. Updated ivoq 12/28/10.

18 Body problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2006

Have been involved in 3 accidents where I feel that air bag should have deployed, resulting in extra damages and injury that wasnt treated.

19 Body problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2003

Falling acorns have left many pock marks on the body of my 2003 Accord. My other car is parked in the same area with no damage. The metal on the 2003 Accord feels significantly weaker to the touch than the body of my other cars. This car looks like it was pelted with hail stones. It seems to me that a car should withstand the impact of an acorn!.

20 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2003

The exterior window ledge is bubbling. It looks like cheap tape over metal. Have heard this complaint from several other 2003 Accord owners.

21 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2003

There is a constant popping noise that developed around 2500 miles. The noise occurs once or twice upon acceleration from a dead stop and while braking to come to a dead stop. The noise appears to be coming from the firewall area under the drivers side floor pan. Other people with this problem have reported that this is a common issue with v6 Accords and that the fix is to re-weld some areas between the firewall and floor pan. My dealer is not aware of any such fix and Honda customer service has no idea as well. The popping noise appears to be caused to body flex in areas that were not welded properly.
