Transmission is not catching going from second to third gear. When it does finally shift it jerks hard. Doesn't happen all the time though. Dealer cant get it to do it. 2 weeks after my passenger seat heater light went out, I only drove my car 6 miles; I took my key out, and it was burning hot. I touched the ignition and it too was burning hot. It did it 2 other times. I went straight to the dealership. They looked at it the next day and couldn't get it to get as hot as it was with me. They said it was "normal. "I only have 58,000miles.
I drive a 2003 Honda Accord with 71,000 miles. The ignition key is stuck at position 1 of 3 and cannot be returned to 0. I am unable to get the key out in any gear position (others have tried it as well) and am unable to retrieve the key.
This problem has been occurring intermittently for 2. 5 years, has never manifested itself while at the dealer. It all started with the yellow traction control triangle lighting up, right after we bought the car. No symptoms, just solid non-blinking light on dash. Dealer had no solution. The problem got worse when my wife noticed that the car's transmission seemed to "bog down". I never experienced it, just my wife. Dealer said this was just the traction control kicking in, no solution. Last July, 4 hours from home, the car suddenly bogged down on me, I immediately looked down at the dash. . . The car was traveling 70 mph, the speedometer was dead, the engine was dead, I happened to be at an exit ramp, so I coasted off the interstate to a stop. I called the dealer in the nearest city, and they said to restart the car, I did, and it ran. I took the car to auto zone where they said the code was "speed control sensor/short". Dealer checked it, and said there was no problem with sensor. They blamed it on having too much transmission fluid in the transmission. A few times since July, the car has mysteriously gone dead in traffic, notably while in the turn lane. 2 weeks ago, the red brake light started coming on. An isolated and separate issue I think. Last week, I drove 1 hour to the airport. The traction control and check engine light came on, and every time I used the turn indicator, the car died. It restarted itself as soon as the turn indicator was released if moving fast on road. While looping around the airport terminal, it stalled several times as I tested to see if the turn signal still killed it, having to shift to neutral and restart, as the car was idling when it stalled this time. I turned the car off to load bags, and when I turned it back on, no symptoms, and it has not done it since last week. The dealer could not reproduce the problem, again no solution.

2003 Honda Accord coupe has hard starts. Will occasionally turn the key several times before engine will start.
Feel a grinding noise when moving the car forward (under 10 mph). The problem happens only when first starting the car and moving from park. It doesn't happen after the car runs and stops for red light.
This is a redo with corrections of #10079025 the following is what happened to my daughter:while traveling in rush hour(5-10mph) traffic on i80 in new jersey on her first day to a new job,her radio died. She then realized that there was white smoke coming from under hood. Other motorists noticing this beckoned her to move out of the lane & onto the shoulder. As she was doing this, she realized that she had no brakes. When she got to the shoulder she applied the emergency brake & turned off the ignition. While calling her boyfriend for help she heard people yelling at her to get out of the car. Not understanding why, she was scared, got out & saw sparks coming from the front & bottom of the car. She then heard someone yell to get away from the car. As she took a few steps away a loud explosion was heard. Her brand new car had 15ft flames shooting out of it. She was devestated. First impressions were that this is electrical related. After 3 weeks of calling Honda, naturally they disagree. They said the "probable cause" was a "non-Honda" oil filter. At this site alone I found several heat related complaints about dashboard issues. My daughter mentioned to Honda city in levittown,NY about her "check engine" light staying on, she was told"it's nothing". Please contact us lemonhonda2003@aol. Com with any electrical related issues. Signed a mom.
Car does not start up immediately when I turn the key (particularly in cold weather). Turns over, but seems almost as if it is not going to start. Onda service manager tells me 10-15 seconds of crank time is considered normal. However, I don't think this is normal.
I have a new 2003 Accord v6 less than 5,000 miles. The car has hard starts one out of every 5-10 times. There seems to be a growing trend and I am worried about the durability of my new car. The ignition turns over continuously but the car won't start.
New 2003 Honda Accord v6 - about 1 out of every 5 times I start my car, it does not start smoothly. Usually takes a couple of seconds for the engine to turn over.
I recently purchased a 2003 Honda Accord v6 6speed. Overall, I feel the car has been very nice but there are a few problems that I have noticed with the car. I seem to have a "hard" start problem every so often where the car will crank it just wont turn over. I also noticed a popping sound every time I start to go after the car has been sitting for a while. I'm very skeptical on the quality of the Accords now as I'm a former owner of a 2000 Accord.
I have a 2003 Honda 4door Accord v6 and sometimes it won't start on the first crank.
The vehicle was parked in the driveway with park brake engaged when the vehicle rolled out into the street due to a faulty ignition.
Vehicle has hard starts. Will occasionally turn the key several times before engine will start.
Feel a grinding noise when starting to move the car (under 10 mph) after starting the engine. The problem does not happen thereafter for other stops and starts at red light. This is only only occurs when engine is off, then starting up and driving away from park.
2003 Honda Accord. The consumers vehicle only 3500 miles and has been serviced 5 times for the same ignition problem. The consumer was told nothing can be done and the consumer would have to live with the vehicle not starting. The cabinet door under the radio had to be replaced because it began vibrating audibly, the sunroof had to be re-greased and shimmied.
Intermittently vehicle will hesitate to start. It will have a hard start. Dealership cannot locate cause.
