1 Rear Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2007

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. While driving 25 mph, the contact's son wrapped the rear seat belt around his neck while seated in a booster seat. The contact was unable to loosen the seat belt and it had to be cut. The dealer stated that the seat belt tensioner was designed so that the seat belt would not extend until it had been fully retracted. As of November 13, 2007, the dealer had not inspected or repaired the vehicle. The contact felt that there should have been an emergency or manual seat belt release. The current and failure mileages were 52,000. Updated 12-12-07. The consumers son did some skin abrasions around his neck. On November 19, 2007 the seat was replaced free of charge. Updated.
