Vehicle air conditioner drain hose improperly installed by factory, causing excessive water build up in a/c reservoir. Water drained onto vehicle ecu, causing corrosion. Engine started running poorly, followed by failure of ecu to recognize valid keys. Vehicle would not start and had to be towed. Problem could have easily cause stalling in interstate traffic. Internet searches show this to be a common problem due to the design and placement of the ac unit directly over the unprotected ecu.
The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. While stopped at a stop light, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal and noticed that the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. The mechanic stated that the transmission would have to be overhauled. After the repair, the contact noticed a vibration in the transmission. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic. The mechanic installed a new clutch. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,100. The consumer also stated the front hydraulic and side motor mount was replaced. Two weeks later, the consumer was informed the motor mount was broken. The consumer's vehicle stall intermittently even in traffic. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they could not find a problem. Dealer cannot find a problem. While driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic, the problem is more noticeable. Vehicle has repeated problems going into first gear. Vehicle has been in Honda shop for about 75 days as of 5/21/05 and repeats the stalling issue on a regular basis. Dealer refuses to fix the problem.
