Went into Honda for a resistant power steering hose recall installation on 10/22/18. After looking up the VIN today on 10/23/18, the recall still exists. How do I know for certain the dealer actually took care of the problem?.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2018

I got off of work early in the morning I get in my 04 Honda Accord and start driving home which only takes about 10minutes, I'm super tired so I go inside and go to sleep rougly around 2 hours, I wake up suddenly to my car alarm going off which I always keep my vehicle locked when its not visible from me, anyways I grab my key and click the unlock and lock button but I still hear the alarm going off so I head outside of my home and I see my cars interior on fire and my neighbors already on the phone with 911as he was sitting outside 20 minutes prior, me running frantic back inside for a fire extinguisher first responders we're already there so I run back out the doors are still locked so the first responder climbs on top of my car and kicked the sunroof in and starts using his fire extinguisher which at this point the fire is practically in his face he had to get checked out after incident, there was a police report stating it was a open investigation that they aren't ruling anything out but the thing is the doors and windows were all locked. They did a full scan of the car and the fire started somewhere around drivers side stating it was drivers seat steering wheel/collum and or pedals there was no issues with my car I had it fully inspected/maintenance every 3 months checking levels/gage's every other week I had no warning lights on the dash when I parked to go inside. Also in the police report everything was so melted that they couldn't figure out the cause just a idea of where it started, but I have read about other people that have had this same issue with the same circumstances stating that it's the power steering hoses that can deteriorate prematurely, causing cracks and leaks. I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else, I loved my car and unfortunately I had liability and my girlfriend and dad had passed away withing a 5 month gap of this incident so I was extremely devastated from losing my car and didn't know what to do hopefully this helps someone.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

The car was just amazing when I bought it. Even tho I purchased it used I went straight to a service shop had the oil changed and complete tune up done expecting to enjoy this car I have always heard great things about. The first couple months were great, no worries. Then it seems like out of no where I noticed a slight difference in the way it drove, just the complete feeling of the car was different. The next day I went out to eat and the transmission shifted hard. Okay I thought just need to pay attention, that night when heading to the store is when it became constant, shifting from drive to reverse a hard shift, from 1to2 slip 2to3 slip, then once it heated up stopped. Today is the second day of having to drive it and the light for the engine came on. The car has only 160,000 miles on it, supposedly still in its prime According to early Honda owners, my cousin had a early 90's model Accord I know lived to almost 300,000 on the same engine and transmission. What makes this generation not accountable or not as worthy of the same quality that has given Honda the loyalty of customers it has now. They have the audacity to turn a blind eye on this problem, knowing that these problems are a self inflicted and the direct result of cheap parts and a design flaw they allowed to be mass produced knowing, the "certainty" of mass failure it would create after the warranty freeing them of liability. Leaving the dedicated customers, the people who have helped Honda build there foot hold on the automotive industry in the USA, in the wind. Where is the justice, the accountability, knowingly producing a product that's design is inadequate, knowing due to improper fluid control or lack of proper fluid flow will undoubtedly cause failure of the powertrain. How is it not criminal where is the accountability I thought producing products which u know are default is illegal.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2016

Car is not starting we checked everything on the car.

Transmission sudden total failure, without any previous indication or symptoms, while entering a freeway at an on ramp. Near end of on ramp at about 35 mph, vehicle was merging into existing traffic that was coming faster than 35mph when car stopped accelerating but slowing instead. Nearly rear end collision from traffic and subsequent traffic snarl as there was no place to go, nor any ability to make it go.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

Car will not speed up and suddenly slowed down , been told transmission failed, needs new transmission. Just did transmission service one month ago power steering oil leak and changed pipe and and then power steering pump failed.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

Clear coat is peeling off on the roof and trunk. Deler took pictures and came back two months later saying they would paint it for $2,200. 00. This is a clearly documented manufacturer's defect. Two minutes on the internet will confirm that. Recently I paid over $2,000. 00 for maintenance annd repairs. At that time they reminded me what a good investment it was as the car woul last another 100,000 miles. Now with the paint coming off, my investment is gone. This is not right. Please help me an 100's others.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

My 2004 Honda Accord v6 transmission decided to die on Saturday November the 15th. I was driving on the interstate when I realized the rpm's were going up, but I wasn't getting any acceleration. I pulled over to check my transmission fluid, oil and etc. Everything was good. So I start back on the road trying to make it to my destination. The next thing I know I heard what sounded like a chain breaking off and the car jumped back like I was gearing down really low. I hit my head on the steering wheel and blacked out for a minute. Thankfully I had someone with me and they grabbed the steering wheel and directed us off the interstate. We lifted the hood once again and could smell something burnt. We were able to get it to a mechanic who said the transmission had failed. We had no issues prior to the date the transmission failed. I'm extremely upset by this. The car had been taken care of and maintained regularly. My family is Honda enthusiast and have never had problems. That is why we always bought Honda's, for their reliability. I think Honda needs to make this right and have the transmission fixed. From what I've read this has been a major problem affecting tons and the transmission has been recalled. I thank god I didn't kill or hurt anyone during this ordeal.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

The clear coat on my black exterior paint is peeling off on the door panels.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2014

While driving, I hear and feel a loud thump, the car begins to jerk, slows down, and three different lights appear all at once on the dashboard. It's beginning to happen more frequently. Problem has been ongoing for the past two years. No one can seem to tell me what's wrong. I am aware that Honda passed a recall on the transmission on the same year, make, and model of my car, but my car wasn't able to take advantage of the recall, because my VIN # didn't apply. I believe there is a problem with my transmission and all VIN #'s that share the same year, make, and model as I should be awarded the opportunity to take advantage of this recall option as well.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

I took my car to a local Honda dealer for a recall to be repaired. After getting the car back, I still get a dashboard warning light indicating that the part may still be defective. The part in question is the passenger side power seat wire harness (seat srs sensor). I was not aware of this recall, but the dealer was kind enough to inform me, but I just don't feel the issue has been corrected.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

I was heading north bound and the on coming vehicle was heading south bound he made a improper left turn in to the front of my car, the entire front of my car was damaged hood, windscreen, headlights, right and left front fender, radiator,ac condenser, horn and chassis frame. But my airbags did not deployed.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2014

While driving home from work I came to a red light, as I proceeded to hit the gas the car started to jump and would not accelerate. I was hitting the gas the engine would rev and the rpm's were super high but the car would only go about 5 mph with the ending revving really loud. After about a few seconds of hitting the gas and only going 5mph the car would finally jump into gear and go. Every time the car would come to a stop and then have to go again that's when it would happen over and over again. That night we decided to take it for a test drive and that's when the engine light came on and the "d" shift light was blinking and the "tca" light came on. There is seriously something wrong with the car when the day before the car drove like new. We looked up the recalls on online for our vehicle and see that there is one out for the auto transmission. Just weird all the sudden this would happen and there is a recall out in that. Please help!.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2014

I was driving my car for the regular maintenance and all of a sudden the transmission failed and it slowed down immediately. I was lucky enough that I didn't have any vehicle in my back so I could control the car and moved it aside. Otherwise it would have been a disaster as I was driving in one of the busiest roads. Honda should proactively take actions on these kind of defects as its the matter with lives and not about just money.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2014

Pulled up to a boulevard stop in a subdivision; made a complete stop and then made a left-hand turn. Auto began accelerating to a tremendous speed and I was unable to stop it. Within 2 blocks, I turned off the ignition and shifted into park and auto kept on accelerating. I came to a dead end and had to made a left turn and, at the speed I was going, the turn ended up a 2-wheel turn. After about 50 feet the auto finally came to a stop.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

I have noticed that when I try to turn on car there is a lost in connection and car won't turn on I have to turn the steering wheel in order for car to finally turn on. I think there is a problem with the ignition switch. I have done research and seems like other Honda owners have had the same problem. I'm just afraid that car will stop in the road while I'm driving.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

The car went crazy revving up and down on its own. Driving on the highway, it felt like the car would be applying the breaks on its own only to rev up again but felt like it was on neutral, then the gear would shift abruptly. At the intersection, once the light turned green, the engine would not proceed no matter how light I applied the gas pedal (I didn't want to "drown" it), it felt as if it were in neutral - only to speed up on its own. It felt like the car didn't know whether to speed up or slow down - the gears would jump from one to another on its own. Horrible!.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2013

I purchased my used 04 Honda Accord ex v6 from midlands Honda in October 2007 with approx. 35,000 miles on it. Never had any real mechanical issues and always got it serviced by the dealer. Low and behold I recently encountered an issue with my transmission that gave me no warning. I appeared to be slipping or something, so I had it serviced and to no surprise, it is not fixed. The shop has advised that with only 118,000 miles that my transmission is shot. I researched a past recall on my vehicle after this happened and found that other consumers has the same issue with their Accords and had to replace the transmission. I feel that Honda has misled their consumers and that their products are not living up to their marketing and suggested quality. I used to own 5 different Nissan vehicles, but the last purchase was repurchased by the dealer as a lemon because it was a new vehicle with numerous issues from sudden stalling to electronic issues, but no recalls b/c it was too new. I left Nissan and welcomed Honda into my family at that time, but I feel that my kids and are not safe. I have to replace a transmission that should have lasted as long as my engine, which received her new timing belt at 100,000 miles. I may be submitting my issue with absolutely no resolution, since Honda did and is not really taking responsibility in their malfunction. I just want other Honda owners to know that this problem with the transmission still exists and probably will for years to come. I guess after this repair is done, I may seek to investigate Toyota or even and american made car. The amount of money it is costing me to repiar this used car is senseless and the transmission issue should have been corrected a long time ago. I pray that no one gets hurt or worse from this problem. Thankfully my children and I were able to make it home ok.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2013

The gear shift release "button" dislodged from the shaft so you were unable to shift into a gear- it just fell out, never seemed loose. When I had the problem corrected I was told by Honda that this problem is very prevelant in the 2004 Accord (v-6) and that they sell many of these gear shift "buttons" a week! that tells me that there is a system-wide problem with this although I have never received a notification.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

When I attemped to shift the vehicle out of park and into gear the silver gear shift knob broke off. I super glued it back together in order to shift gears to go to store to get new part. It later fell off again and multiple pieces came out of the opening. The gear shift knob broke into about 7 to 10 pieces. Had to stick my finger into opening in order to push the shift mechanism down to get it out of park. Spoke to local Honda dealership and they reporeted they keep those parts in stock from about 03 to 05 because for some reason alot of those are breaking. He was able to tell me that without looking up the part number.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2013

My 2004 Honda Accord ex v6 has traction control. All of a sudden the tc light came on and pushing the switch it will not go out. When you start up the car the orange triangle stays lit and then when you are driving the tc comes on and stays on. Brought it to a mechanic and he put it on the diagnostic machine but he didn't have the Honda code. I called a Honda dealership and they "release" the code information and I have to bring it into a Honda dealer at $186 for the first hour just to run a test!!! the car does not even move in the snow here in the northeast without the tc. I heard that the Honda Accord was having issues with the traction control system.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

My vehicle allows me to remove the key with it not in park. I know that this was a recall on 2003 Honda Accords but not 2004. I don't understand why this can happen. It will cost me upwards of $700 to fix a defect. It has been doing this behavior since I bought the vehicle back in 2011.
