general problems of the 2005 Honda Accord

While driving on a major street all the sudden the car lost power it started up and again turned off again after days of getting everything checked I come to find out that the the security immobilizer decided it wants to lock my cars engine this almost lead to me getting hit thank god I wasn’t on the freeway.

Afraid car might kill me! hello, I have reported this issue before but am getting zero help. My car has a problem where it is burning through the oil, I've had numerous mechanics try to figure out what is causing it but, nothing. I would get an oil change today and before the month is out, I would have to continue checking and putting oil in the car because it would be completely dry. No leaks ever detected. . . I've change the oil to full synthetic and still have the problem. The vehicle continuously losses power when driving uphill, my check engine light stays on and the light in the glove compartment does not go off while driving. I'm worried my engine will blow up if the problem persist. I am the original and only owner of this vehicle. There is also a problem with the suspension or axel, when I push hard on the brakes, the car makes a noise like the bottom fell out and is dragging metal on the floor. Mechanic also cannot figure that out, I've paid over 6k in diagnosis, repairs and time trying to get help and nothing. I would like to get my Honda checked and fixed. I anxiously await a response and solution to this car. I have covid and this is my only source of transportation.

When I put key in to start car it does not start I let it sit and will do it two to three times before it will turn over. Car stereo had to take fuse out it would not shut of I was told it was electrical and may be my starter also my abs light is constantly on and only the abs works when it wants . Also have had battery replaced but problem still persists only has 104,000 miles on her problems started a few years back asked Honda about the problem and they said no recalls on these problems.

Wife was driving the car when the roof linear fabric came out blocking her visibility from the rear. She could not see driving in the fast lane and with the baby in the back she panicked and pulled over. Half of the roof linear came down blocking visibility to the rear and to the sides.

I was turning into a parking space with my foot on the brake when my engine accelerated fast and the brakes could not stop it. I crashed over a concrete thing and crashed into another car, causing major damage.

While driving vehicle transmission abruptly went into a down shift causing the vehicle to slow down while traveling at a high speed. Recall # r89.

While driving on a highway, gear shifting knob popped out. It was broken in multiple pieces. With out the knob, you cannot shift the gear. Although, you can turn of the engine, you cannot remove the key until the gear is shift to "parking". Without the knob, gear cannot be shifted.

The car has severe vibration while accelerating between 55 and 60 mph. There is no issue at slower speeds, there is not issue when driving over 60 mph.

Initially only the drivers door and right rear passenger door would lock or unlock, whether inside the car, using the key, or using the key fob. Beginning yesterday, all the door locks will neither lock nor unlock using any of the previously mentinoed methods, the lights at the bottom of the door will not turn off, and the dash symbol showing all doors ajar stays on constantly. I initally assumed it was the door actuators but after researching the problem, it seems to point towards an issue regarding three relays which are soldered on what's called a multiplex control unit located under the dash on the left. Safety issue is I can't lock or unlock the doors.

One day as I was driving at night, I happen to use my high beams. Once turning them on, it shut my engine off while in motion. There were no prior services done to my my car that would make me think it could be malfunctioning due to a mechanic's error. I also tried turning my high beams on with the engine running and in park. It still shut my engine off. Every mechanic I asked for a diagnostic, they were blown and responded with never hearing of this problem. I replaced the old alternator with a new one and it still does the same thing. Since the purchase of my car, the only parts I replaced was and o-ring for the power steering, brake calibers and rotors and recently the alternator. I completely stopped driving it to prevent any further damage or possible accidents.

I was leaving a store on hull st. And my car was at about 40 mph and all of a sudden stopped moving and I felt that it was something bad so I cut the car off and restarted my car and it started up nicely once I switched gears from park to reverse the car didn't move. So I went to put car into park and there was a really loud noise which scared me crazy. I cut the car back off and it began to roll backwards in the park gear so I had to put the car emergency break on to keep in place. Monday morning which I'd today I get my car towed to aamco and they diagnostic my car as a shaft failure which had broken which caused the car to make the loud noise when placed in the park gear and the car doesn't realize which gear it's in because it is broken inside the transmission.

This is the second time that this vehicle causes an accident due to involuntary acceleration defect. I was coming to a complete stop to park the car when all of a sudden it accelerated on its own and sped into a building. First it hit an iron bench pushing it into the wall. The car missed hitting a young mother and her four little kids by mere seconds. My insurance company sent one of their own adjusters to inspect the damages, and determined that the car should be repaired. In the meantime the people at the body shop where the car was towed to kept telling me that the car was not safe to be put on the road again. I pleaded with my insurer to have it totaled as I was too afraid to drive it again after two accidents, and my conscience did not allow me to sell the car after the repairs putting somebody else in same kind of danger. I also called Honda, but their reply was that Honda was not going to do anything about it. Honda folks were even annoyed that I called them saying that my insurer was the one to contact them through the proper channels. Finally my insurance agreed to total the car. However, I saw that the car was sold to an auction dealer listing it as "salvage title/rebuildable. " the car is for sale again stating that it will cost $4,872. 00 to fix it. My insurance company increased my premiums considerably considering me the party at fault. I ask NHTSA to act quickly to stop this unsafe and unfair practice.

Rear door locks do not work when using driver door lock switch control. Rear door lock on driver side does not open from inside even when door lock switch is in up position. Can only be opened from the outside.

This incident is concerning my 2005 Honda Accord ex v6, VIN (given above) . I am the first owner and car has 85000 miles on it. On 21st September 2014 automatic transmission failed without any warning while I was driving on freeway today. Check engine light never turned on . The car just stopped on a crowded interstate, which was very frightening. This vehicle has been properly maintained and I've never missed an oil change, timing belt, etc. I've never had any major problems with this car, no leaks, no engine issues and this leads me to believe there is some sort of defect with this automobile which needs to be recalled. My situation with the transmission is obviously not an isolated incident and Honda needs to step-up to the plate. The mechanic said that he has seen this same problem time and time again with Honda's especially with 2005 Accord v6 transmission failures. On further research on NHTSA website, I found NHTSA campaign id number : 11v395000 addressing similar problem and as of 23rd September 2014, 1. 5 million (1512107) vehicles has been recalled for similar issue. The Honda recall number is r89 and the recall was placed on August 27th 2011, for Honda Accords 2005-2010 for the transmission. I took my car to, grossinger Honda, my local Honda dealer. The diagnosis was that the transmission had completely failed although fluid levels were normal. Dtc codes were p0741, p0746, and p0777. Honda opened a case and gave me a case no:n012014-09-22-02450. More than 1. 5 million vehicles are affected from this recall and they tell me my car isn't one? I strongly feel that my case is genuine and with reference to NHTSA campaign id number : 11v395000, my vehicle should be considered for this recall by american Honda .

Did not receive recall notice from Honda . My current address on file! insurance company notified me of recall.

Door will not unlock on front passenger side. This is not a child safety lock issue. Seems like a common problem after a review of the internet. In a crash or fire passenger would have to crawl to the other side of the car or through a window to get out. Responders would have no way to open the door from the outside.

Original owner of this vehicle has died seven years ago. This vehicle was sold at an estate sale. The multiple previous notifications are not needed. Please update your records.

Unintended acceleration with car going out of control on the highway and the car failing to slow down after pressing on the brake. Most terrifying experience of my life.

Air bag red icon kept coming on on dash and have been trying to get this fixed for over a year. Don't understand why Honda does not consider long island, NY, a humid territory. Honda needs to visit long island to see how humid it is. This car must be used for a road test next week and I must now pay out of pocket to get the icon off permanently and the problem fixed, as well as have the air bags replaced to ensure they are good. My brother was driving our car on the 278-bqe in brooklyn, NY. The rpm on the car suddenly went to 7000 rpm and then the car started to decelerate. The car would not accelerate and it ended stopping on the express lane on the highway. He had the hazard lights on but cars were still coming at 60-70 mph, many barely missing the car as they swerved into the next lane. We took the car to the mechanic and though the car only has 78k miles on it, he said that the transmission is dead. Everything else was in order in terms of fluids. I took a look at carcomplaints. Com and there are 43 complaints on this exact issues of 2005 Honda Accord owners with 60-80k miles on their car.

I purchased my 2005 Honda Accord lx with the knowledge of the back right window not working. Within 6 months of owning this car, the passenger front window and both of the back windows just stopped working at all. I have tried using the front main switch as well as the individual switches to unroll them and all that happens is a click every time I try to unroll each one. My passenger window is stuck half way down with no way to roll it up. The only window that works is the drivers side front window now. I have confirmed that the child safety lock is unlocked each time I try to unroll each of them. Is there a recall on this kind of default?.

Windows wont come down, its a electric problem, certain lights in the car nwould go on and off example tale light. Tire problems, and other stuff.

The chrome color paint/coating on the inner door handles of my 2005 Honda Accord is starting to separate/peel at the seams. While opening the door, the peeling seam on the inner door handle lacerated my finger. I have cut myself 3 times on both inner front door handles.

Honda 2005 Accord my power windows will not always function. Window will not go down when switch is pressed. If it is down, it will not come up. Neither direction works correctly. This has been happening for almost 5 months. This week the window went down while I was driving but had not pressed the switch. Our Honda fit 2007 just received a recall notice for this exact issue. Is there also a problem with Honda Accord 2005?.

Honda's failure to disclose that a spare tire is not standard equipment on its 2005 Accord hybrid put my and my family's lives in danger. We first learned of the situation when my husband had a flat tire. Honda then told us that a retro-fit was available. Before parts arrived, I experienced a blow out on an out-of-state high speed thoroughfare at night. Two police cars and a tow truck were required to transport us to the safety of a motel. Another 6 weeks passed before Honda had the parts to retro-fit the vehicle at my expense. Honda assumes no liability for this situation.

My car is not equipped with stability control, but it does have traction control, which can be disabled by a switch on the left end of the dashboard. The traction control seems to work well at speeds above 30 mph, but when starting out, if the car hits a slippery patch, instead of pulsing the brakes to keep the wheels from spinning, as the Chrysler lhs I owned previously did, it simply gives up, cutting most of the engine power, leaving the car unable to go more than 2 or 3 mph. This is extremely dangerous when crossing intersections with stop signs and can even create a hazard when the intersection is controlled by a stop light. It can be avoided by disabling the traction control system before hand, but the disable button won't work if unless the car is at a complete stop, creating a panic situation if the system kicks in unexpectedly. No car should be allowed on the road with a system like this, but my understanding is that a number of other makes exhibit the same behavior, possibly due to a common vendor. There are traffic deaths due to improperly timed intersection crossings every day, and given the behavior of systems like this, I find it hard to believe that no deaths have resulted from it. I've been lucky enough to recognize the system's bad behavior and disable it more often than I would have to disable a properly designed system; the average driver should not be faced with such a burden. Please take action against all of the companies that allowed a system like this to get onto our roads. Please note that I listed the "date of incident" as the first occurrence I recall, because a date was required, but this has been happening, and I have been taking precautions to avoid it, from the time I got the car in 2006 up to now.
