Power Steering Fluid problems of the 2007 Honda Accord

1 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

On startup, vehicle makes loud grinding noise coming from power steering. Vehicle is tough to turn left and right when in motion. Bubbles in power steering reservoir. Power steering fluid is leaking from hose that travels towards front of car and from power steering pump. Car has been sitting since Nov 2020 and I checked vehicle today and power steering fluid is still leaking from both hoses. Vehicle makes louder grinding noise when turning and is very stiff.

2 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Honda Accord. The contact stated that power steering fluid was leaking from the hose and the steering pump. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the same symptoms as listed in NHTSA campaign number: 12v222000 (steering); although, the vehicle was not included in the recall. Carey paul Honda (3430 us-78, snellville, GA 30078, (866) 827-6069) noticed the leak while the vehicle was being serviced for a timing belt issue. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,717.

3 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the power steering was not working properly. When the vehicle was initially started, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. After the vehicle warmed up, the steering wheel operated normally. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 12v222000 (steering). The contact stated that power steering fluid was leaking onto the engine, which caused it to smoke under the hood. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000.

4 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Honda Accord. The contact noticed smoke emerging from under the hood of the vehicle and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact added power steering fluid to the reservoir. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that power steering fluid was leaking onto the catalytic converter, and the power steering hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to john eagle Honda of houston (18787 northwest fwy, houston, TX 77065, (866) 495-7073) who stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 12v222000 (steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 192,867.

5 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

Leaking power steering fluid from high pressure hose and also from power steering pump onto Cadillac converter causing smoke and possible potential fire.

6 Power Steering Fluid problem

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Honda Accord sedan. The contact stated that while driving various speeds the steering wheel failed and would pull to the left or right the contact stated that fluid would leak on to the engine and they could smell fumes. No warning lights illuminated. The contact stated they are having the same failure as NHTSA campaign number: 12v222000 (steering). Brad barker Honda 1602 general electric rd, bloomington, IL (309) 663-9591 informed the contact that the power steering needed to be repaired. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer has been made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000. Nd.

7 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2016

Took car to Honda for steering recall. All they could do was tell me what else I needed. Power steering is not working . Having breaks put on and guy shows me my power steering fluid leak all over. They never fixed the problem when I took it in to be fixed.

8 Power Steering Fluid problem

Between 11/04/11 and 12/03/11 my power steering hose busted and leaked out all my fluid for no apparent reason. My driver-side power window stopped working,and then my transmission started slipping and is getting progressively worse.

Since purchasing my vehicle new in 2007 I have had to replace the power steering pump 5 times including hoses. My vehicle always begins making a piercing moan sound. The power steering fluid reservoir leaks all the time allowing fluid to build up on my engine.

10 Power Steering Fluid problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions; there was a loud clicking noise in the steering wheel when making a turn. While the ignition was turned off and in the lock position, the ignition key failed to release from the ignition switch. The gear shift was placed in the park position; however, there were several attempts before he was able to remove the key. There were no prior warnings. In addition, there was power steering fluid leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated the failure was related to the steering wheel rack and the part was on back order. Currently, the repair has not been performed. The contact is aware of the safety risk involved. The failure mileage and current mileages were 21,000.
