The vsa light is on every time I drive the triangle hazard light and the abs light is on.
I was driving down the highway at 60mph when suddenly the car threw itself in reverse! no one was behind me, but I had to quickly brake and back into the shoulder and put it in “park”. It has also suddenly shut down without warning while in drive. This has happened several times at different speeds, sometimes at a red light.
08 Accord vtc failing, known issue by Honda on many models with the 2. 4l engine.
Transmission shifts hard on acceleration, causing hard jerks. When braking rpms is still high and engine is high. It is truly an unsafe situation. It seems the car doesn't know what gear to be in. And when you turn it does the same.
In 2008, I purchase a new Honda Accord v6 paid with financing $25,000. I purchase a brand new vehicle to not have to be bothered with someone else problems. When my car reached 100 thousand miles in the winter, I heard a loud knocking sound under the hood and I was loosing a lot of oil. I took my car to the dealer. My engine light was on and start blinking. The dealer pulled the dtc and the p0301 cold was present. A service bulletin 13-078 and case # 312-cv-01377-s1 told me that would be no cost to me because I was a class member. This was from a class action filing that 1. 5 million Honda were defective because of a manufacturer defect. I was told this would fix my $25,000 investment Honda I purchase and paid in full. Since then I went to the community Honda dealership in orland park illinois and on April 2019 the p0301 code was present again something new and the p0420 dtc. I paid again for tune up which the 1st cylinder was fouled out again the third time this year. The director of the service department name bob stated for this repair again would cost me $8,000 and smiled. I said I could not afford that repair and because now that the first repair which I was lead to believe was going to fix the effect and did not. I was sold a lemon and I need Honda to repurchase this vehicle and give me a brand new vehicle similar to the one I purchase for $25,000. The community Honda service director would not warranty my tune up because he said I need piston rings again. I then contacted Honda corporation and informed them of my issue with the vehicle I purchase with was a defect. Took two weeks for the regional director per dana Honda rep stated no more assistance will be given to this defective vehicle which is a manufacturer defect that I would not have purchase if I had known. I then had to go to pep boys to avoid blowing the engine and catching a fire for repa.
Grinding noise presents when cold start the car, possiblely the vtc actuator failure.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. While driving at unknown speeds, there was an abnormal knocking noise. Additionally, the vehicle burned oil excessively. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (dublin Honda located at 6300 dublin blvd CA 94588) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was irreparable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed and offered no assistance. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 180,000.
Defective vtc actuaftor. Honda & dealer knew by 2011 that the part was defective and defectively designed, and should have recalled it. Now, in spite of being "out of warranty," they should replace or reimburse. I did replace and am seeking reimbursement, so far denied.
The vtc actuator needed to be replaced. The mechanic explained that it was not merely defective, but was a design defect, for which there had been recalls for other/later models years. I confirmed this with a google search. I was told that, were the part not replaced, the damage could be catastrophic. Cost - over $600. I complained to Honda of America, and sought reimbursement. They denied it, saying it was out of warranty. Car has about 88,000 miles and warranty was for 5 years and 30,000 miles. However, Honda of America representative said he would sue Honda if it were him. I should receive reimbursement, and there should be recall on this part.
Engine is burning oil, american Honda states I am not in TSB #11-033, but they just told me my passenger air bag is involved in the takata recall, transmission 1-2 shift doesn't feel right.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Accord. While attempting to exit the vehicle with the key out of the ignition, the vehicle rolled away in reverse and dragged the driver's left leg. The vehicle crashed into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. In addition, the front driver's side door failed to latch due to the crash. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained left leg, head, and neck injuries, but did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v056000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 100,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
This is a safety raised issue on a 2008 Accord-lxp that I purchased used (which had about 29k originally when I purchased it as a certified Honda Accord) from herb chambers boston. Since I purchased the car, I started hearing an odd grinding noise when starting the car on cold days - Honda said just keep oil full. I then find out that a recall had been issued to fix the oil consumption, that Honda had finally agreed there was an issue with the engine design and would fix it and at the same time would not cause other issues to emerge such as vtc and the timing chain issues. Recently my engine light came on, I started researching the problem. It was the first time I knew about the following issues which I will be detailing/describing below. Results were bad: a timing chain failure. My car has stopped in the middle of road causing a very dangerous situation which could led to me losing my life. Not, only that, when I tried to just drive the car a mile back to my house it was accelerating and decelerating by it self. In addition, I decided to take it to the dealership for a diagnoses, I almost ended up in couple accidents. The car was uncontrollable and won't stop and the brakes won¿t respond due to issues caused by oil consumption, to vtc actuator to a timing chain failure: the car keep accelerating and decelerating by it self on the road or highway. Note: ideally the timing chain should not fail on 58k miles. Simplified sequence of problems: oil consumption issue vtc (valve timing control) actuator timing chain (either loose or broken) safety issue.
I purchased this Honda Accord from automaxx of summerville in good faith from dealer stating that vehicle passed all their inspections (including brake system). I found out within 2 weeks later by taking it to a Honda dealership, that the brakes, brake lines, caliper, exhaust system are all affected by severe, damaging rust. During inspection, inclusive were sticking caliper. I had front brakes replaced; but due to rust, technician had to bam & force brakes lose. I was informed of the risks with severe rusting causing parts to brake and fail. New brakes would not install properly after old, seated brakes came off. When vehicle is in motion and stopping, the brake system makes noise, and seems like something coming apart due to the insecure fitting of brakes/rotors/calipers, which all have a great build up of rust. This vehicle was purchased approximately 1 month ago in these conditions. It should be illegal to sell such vehicles that pose safety risk in brake system. Honda inspection suggested that rust was so severe that car could have possibly been damaged by salt water/snow/ice or flood. Car originated from up north. Re-sale should not be allowed.
The timing chain broke while driving at approximately 52 mph. This resulted in the destruction of the engine at 119000 miles on a car that has had all recommended services procedures performed. This vehicle has a timing chain not a belt.
Vsa brakeand abs light comes on after engine has warmed up. Honda dealor has dtc 122-01 vsa selenoid valve malfunction cost for this defect in the vsa light per written estimate is $1639. 00. This is a safety highway hazard. Contacted Honda corporation customer service case# 04375940 and know one has know knowledge of the safety concern and fail to fixed and pay for this saftey highway safety need. Refuses to have a supervisor contact me to discuss the class action powertrain covered til 6-2016 service bulletin 13-078. My car will not increase in speed stalls at 55 mph on high speed and speed limit on highway is 70 mph and can received a ticket for driving under speed limited that can cause a accident on the highways.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v665000 (air bags) and 11v395000 (power train) however the parts to do the repairs were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for recall repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Driver traveling speed limit on interstate 40 outside kingman, az. Driver drifted off the road, over corrected, and struck a wooden post at the end of guardrail, causing car to leave the roadway. The air bags did not deploy, leading insurance investigators concerned. Insurance adjustors felt the car could be fixed until a large hole was discovered in the transmission. Concern to all was that air bags did not deploy.

The engine of my Honda Accord 2008 started to having the rattle and scratching sound when it reached 32000 miles. The engine also started to fail as the rattle sound gets serious. I called Honda USA multiple times, but they said that they will not cover this issue because the car was made in 2008 and I'm filing this complaint in 2016. I think Honda USA is trying to avoid this defect of Accord 2008, since numerous people have had the same issue.
2008 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle repair services at dealership and transmission replacement issues. The consumer stated she took the vehicle to the dealer for a 55,000 mile point inspection. However, the dealer performed other work she did not request. The dealer informed the consumer, the vehicle needed a new transmission. After the transmission was installed, the vehicle performed even worse. The vehicle shook in a violent manner.
2008 Honda Accord ex-l model I-4 engine (2. 4l) started excessively burn oil in engine after 2,000 mile with new engine oil changed. After new engine oil changed, even the indicator of oil viscosity indicate 60% remain (Honda has the system), when oil checked, oil volume shows under minimum oil level. It make me very worry about engine oil consumption so quickly as unusual to compare other cars in my experience. When I went to check any evidence of oil leaking at 2-different local oil shop, we couldn't find any oil leaking evidence. This is 2nd time that happened. This is unacceptable to the customer. One of my college has 2008 Honda Accord coupe (2. 4l), he has same problem. He is change engine oil every 2,000 mile due to burning engine oil issue (no clue of leaking) I checked this issue via web site and find that the article " american Honda settles class-action suit over oil-burning claim for Honda v6 engine only" on automotive news (oct. 22. 2013) but unfortunately, the article says that Accord vehicles with four cylinder engines are excluded from the settlement" I am wonder why Honda Accord 2. 4l engine got this exclusion from engine oil burning so quickly. Please investigate this issue on Honda Accord 2. 4l engine ASAP. Update 9/15/cw .
On 12/22/2014, my 2008 Honda Accord lx (which has 98,300 miles on it) was towed into my local Honda dealer. The reason for my having it towed into my local dealer was due to the fact that my engine failed while driving on a residential street drive two miles from my home. There was absolutely no indication whatsoever that my engine would fail as the check engine light did not go on, there was no oil light illuminated, etc. Thus I was shocked when I was driving and tried to give the car some gas and the car did not accelerate ¿ thus I rolled to the side of the road and contacted a towing company. The service representative contacted me via phone and let me know that there was no compression in cylinder 2 and that I likely needed a new engine. The initial estimate would be $6,000 for a car with a blue book value of $6,500 (dealer trade in. ) I have all service records and faithfully serviced my vehicle at the Honda dealership. The service rep also explained that I was low on oil and I reviewed my receipts to determine that I changed my oil 2600 miles earlier. I am hoping that Honda will provide goodwill to repair the vehicle as a 6 year old vehicle with 98000 miles on it should not need a new engine.
I purchased this vehicle in February 2015 and the issues which I have face are: poor(worn) struts, axle(output shaft) seal leak, vtc actuator which the dealer does not want to honor the warranty defect, and poor motor mounts. In addition, the struts caused one of the tires to pop due to a bump on the tire, and the passenger front tire had to be replaced because of the bump on the tire which again is due to the struts being bad.
Replaced vtc actuator once and needs to be replaced again. Need a new redesigned vtc actuator to be manufactured.
I purchased this car last year and it had over 150000, as I checked the oil I noticed it was low I have added 1 qt in between every oil change. My second problem was durning the winter on the real cold days the starter sounded likt it was hanging up as described as the vtc actuator. My third problem is the warning light on the dash for the air bag has alluminated. I contacted Honda today and they told me the light only comes on after it has been to the body shop? also I have received a claim form for a reimbursable deployment prior to Feb 13 2014. I have not been in a accident and neither has the car. So if there is a claim for the air bag deployment why isnt there a recall for the air bag?.
8/11:certified pre-owned purchased from Honda dealer at 35787 mi oil changes: 3/15/2012: 41659mi; 9/6/2012: 48687mi 7/1/54340mi-oil pressure warning light and rattling noise appears;vehicle immediately taken to suburban Honda dealer (farmington hills, mi);no diagnostic codes given. Only explanation was the oil level was too low and the noise disappeared when oil was filled. No explanation for suspected leak/excessive consumption despite last oil change being just 6000mi back 3/18/14:oil pressure warning light flashes once and car was not started until I made an appointment with suburban Honda on 3/20/2013 3/20/62450 mi- within 0. 25mi of my way to dealer, the oil pressure light flashes in the middle of a signal intersection and engine fails amidst heavy traffic thereby, compromising my safety. On 1st notice(7/13), dealer completely neglected my concerns for oil leak/malfunction which led to massive engine damage (estimate $8000). Negligence led to engine failure on road causing massive compromise to my safety. Death could have been imminent if my car stalled on a freeway. Honda has a design flaw resulting in excessive oil consumption noted by multiple customers. Dealer did not recommend an oil consumption test despite oil levels reaching critical levels within 6000mi of previous oil change. I was informed Accord consumes 1 quart of oil/ 1000mi and since my mileage was beyond Honda limits, I'm to be held responsible. Dealer mentioned that ¿apology is what they can offer and that ¿no cost will be on dealer since it is not their responsibility. Official rep of american Honda stated that this is purely a maintenance issue and that they do not possess ownership of dealer and have nothing to say reg irresponsibility of the official Honda dealer. Honda's design flaw&irresponsible dealers neglecting this issue could result in severe bodily injury or death.
I have the 2008 Honda Accord with the 4cyl engine and drive approximately 8 miles per day. Within the last few months I have noticed significant oil loss in between oil changes. Approximately 3-4 quarts needs to be added in between oil changes. There is not a leak to be found and I am not blowing smoke out of the tailpipe. Upon additional research, I've found that mulitple other owners of the exact same make and model vehicle are having this same issue. I've taken the vehicle to a local shop to have it looked at, but still don't have a resolve. Honda just recently lost a class action suit regarding the v6 models, but still won't admit to the issue with the 4cyl model. I have had estimates anywhere from $500 on up to a complete engine overhaul, which is far more than I can afford. Honda needs to take responsibility for this and fix the problem. I've owned many other Honda's and this is the first I've ever seen do something like this. Please help! thank you.
When I start my car (usually when it is off for 4~6 hours) it will make a screech noise. But if it has been off for less than that, then the car does not make the noise. I've taken the vehicle in today at the dealership and they said that the cause was the vtc actuator. The dealership is asking for an $800 charge to fix this. My car is now out of warranty. As of right now I understand that there is no recall from Honda for this. I have done a google search on 2008 Honda Accord vtc actuator recall and have found that a lot of other people has the same issue as I do.
The vtc ( variable timing control ) actuator on our 2008 Honda Accord sedan 4 door model was found to be defective and required immediate replacement by the Honda dealership. The 4 cylinder engine is exhibiting high oil consumption and poor gas mileage. Odometer reading is approximately 40,000 miles.
Intermittent sudden uncontrolled acceleration. When merging into highway traffic or passing, vehicle continuously accelerates even when no braking; revs go up to 5000 and stays there even when stomping on brakes in attempt to slow the vehicle down. Only way to stop the sudden acceleration is to put car in neutral. Due to intermittent nature of problem, dealer could not fix during warranty period. Scheduled dealer appointment twice in 2011 and 2013, both times problem could not be duplicated.
When driving the vehicle (2008 Accord) in morning, I noticed a small rattle on inclines. Later there was a rattle when starting the car that has gotten progressively worse. I am hearing it constantly now and very loud.
I hear a grinding noise when I start my car. When I accelerate I hear noise too. Its not only me complain about this. Almost everybody that have this kind of car.
