4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2023

On Saturday September 16, 2023, I opened the trunk of my car and when I reached in to retrieve my backpack, I suddenly heard a very loud bang and a long bar swung towards me and struck me across my face and luckily my eyeglasses kept the broken metal bar from striking my eyes. My eyeglasses remained in one piece but received a long scratch on it’s surface. At the same time the broken metal bar hit me across the face, the trunk fell on the top and back of my head causing bruising. The incident was disturbing and scary. It could have been worse. It is indeed a safety hazard that must be reported. There could be a defect in the part, improper installation or both. This is the second time this happened (2016 first incident not reported). I had ocean Honda install a new set of the torsion bars on Tuesday September 19, 2023. Praying they will not suddenly snap again and hurt someone seriously.

Honda issued a recall on our Accord as described above. However, this recall does not apply to our vehicle whatsoever and is an error on Honda's part. We purchased our car new - and have never had a nose mask installed on our car. We did not receive any sort of recall information from Honda until we went to sell our Accord (on 9/3/22) and learned of the recall. We have since been experiencing a massive run-around. We visited the dealer we purchased our car at - muller Honda of skokie, IL on 9/14/22 - and the earliest appointment they had for us to visit to clear the recall. Muller confirmed the recall did not apply to our Accord, and sent faxes and pictures to Honda, USA. We also opened a case with Honda, USA. Muller Honda noted that since there is no repair work to complete to clear the recall, they cannot do more than they have. Honda USA has insisted the dealer should clear the recall. In the meantime, we cannot sell our Accord as a trade-in (to the dealer we are trying to purchase a new car from) because of the hassle. We have wasted a considerable amount of time on this ridiculous attempt to get Honda to address and remediate its own errors. Please help us clear up this mess!.

Hi. So last year 2022 I was driving and the hood came up causing me to stop in the middle of the road. Honestly I cannot remember if I hit something but then the car caught on fire soon after! I received a recall notice maybe a year later and when I called in about it to the Honda dealership, no one knows what I was referring to and dismissed me. My safely was at risk because myself and my 1 year old son was in the car! the car completely locked and we almost didn’t make it out. No my car was not inspected I did not have full coverage at the time. I had to sell it to a junk yard and been without a car since. If when I called originally this would have been taken care of!!.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

Hello, I purchased my 09 Accord used in good condition from a private party and would like to utilize carsharing applications to help cover the costs of owning my vehicle. Unfortunately, there is a recall on my type of vehicle affecting those cars with a "front bumper nose mask" which my vehicle does not even have. Since this recall is outstanding even though my car does not have an issue I cannot use my car for car rental/ride sharing applications. I would appreciate if this could get resolved in a timely fashion.

My car's sunroof exploded for no apparent reason. I was driving on an uncovered stretch of highway at about 60-65 mph, and suddenly there was a loud bang on my roof, followed by what sounded like gravel being dumped on my car. A few minutes later, I opened the sunroof shade and saw that the sunroof had shattered. There were no cars or trucks in front or along side my car when this happened - so it wasn't due to gravel spun up by another vehicle. I wasn't anywhere near an overpass - so there's no chance something was dumped on my car. The temperature was about 74 degrees - so no excessive heat from the sun.

I keep getting in the mail about a takata airbag class action settlement payment. So I was told to do the form.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2017

Complaint involving webasto aftermarket retractable sunroof. While driving into work on 7 September, 2017, on a highwat, I closed the sunroof and when it closed I heard a loud pop and looked up and the sunroof was gone. I looked in my rear view mirror and observed a black car two cars behind me making emergency maneuvering into other lane appearing to avoid something. I pulled over and observed no other vehicles doing the same movements and no accidents. I reported the incident to the state police. I purchased the car new in 2009, and the dealership had the sunroof installed prior to purchasing and pickup of the car. The car was purchased new and the sunroof was covered in the original warranty. When I contacted the dealership, they referred me to their installer who informed me there was a recall on some models. When I contacted the company I learned that my sunroof was part of a recall issued in 2010, and I was never informed of this. That sunroof could have killed someone that day. The next evening when driving the retractable interior cover blew out and the metal sunroof frame came apart and metal rods came flying into the driver compartments dangling and swinging. When I reported this to the company, the representative apologized and stated that he should have told me how to secure the interior cover. That this recall is 7 years old and I was never informed in inexcusable. I have always had my car services at Honda dealerships, and I was never informed on this recall. Someone could have easily been killed directly by the flying sunroof, or as a result of swerving to avoid the sunroof. If there are any other sunroofs that have not been repaired, people need to know.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2016

My engine is consuming more oil than it should. I recently noticed this and have done my research and it turns out to be a common random defects with Honda Accords. I am worried that the engine might one day catch on fire or even fail while I am driving. I have gotten a letter from Honda stating that they believe that there is something wrong with the gas bump but they were wrong. The procedure to fix this may cost me a lot of money but I am not responsible for this damage. It effects my safety and I am not willing to risk that.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2016

When raining car will not come out of turn. Steering gets stuck in direction of turn. Gear shift goes from drive to neutral without pressing button took car to dealer and they state problem cannot be duplicated.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2015

Key fobs only work sometimes on parked car whether locking or unlocking. Have 2 sets of keys and both have stopped working intermittently. Replaced the batteries each time at the dealership. Cannot unlock car doors or trunk or lock or set alarm then later that day it works. I see that others have the same issue so it's not the key fob battery. When inquired at Honda dealership - they said they never heard of this. Has been occurring since purchased new. Currently happening again.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2015

I bought my Honda Accord 2009 about a year back. I really love the care. I am religious about oil changes and maintenance and run synthetics to insure the best engine performance and life. My previous owner confirmed that he was also always doing the synthetic oil changes. What I noticed after about a couple of months of buying my car was that a funny rattling and grinding noise was coming from my car. I also occasionally saw the check engine oil like come on and then immediately go off mostly at stops. My oil change was due soon, so I thought that it might be because of that. Yes, sure after the oil change that rattling and grinding sound was gone. So I felt relaxed not for long though as after about 45 days gain the rattling and grinding noise started coming with the check engine oil sign on and off. I did a few checks and when I pulled the dip stick after keeping the car stationary overnight, I was surprised that I had no oil on it at all. I have now added some oil to bring it to the level but I was really disappointed. Then I did some research online and found the information about the excessive oil consumption. I am still planning to keep this car for another 5 years or so, that's why I bought a Honda in the first place. I figure reliable and trouble free with excellent long lasting engines. After going through some online research, I found Honda Accord oil defect class action lawsuit but I never got the letter in the mail about the recall and warranty extension. I am planning to start working on it and get it resolved. My biggest battle will be that the lawsuit covers the v6 vehicles but I have v4. Truly disappointing, I just hope I get satisfaction. Btw I am also the owner of Honda pilot 2008, and no complaints so far and I am very happy with that car. I hope this thing gets resolved.

My Honda Accord 2009 needed to have both left and right control arms replaced at the cost of $500. My mechanic tells me that this is a very common among Honda Accord, civics and cvr, and my internet search also revealed that this is common problem. Shouldn't a defect like this result in a recall?.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2014

Vehicle suddendly lost all power. This exact same power loss has occurred four to five times since I own the vehicle. I bought the vehicle brand new from a gillman Honda dealership in houston, texas in late December 2009. The first time that this happened was a few months after I bought the vehicle. Afterwards, I took the vehicle to the gillman dealership that I purchased the vehicle and discussed the issue with a service manger. I also complained about a noise that the vehicle was making. I was told then that there was no such problem similar to what I described reported, I left after getting an oil change. Since the first incident, the same power lost has occurred to me 3 to 4 more times. The last time was on Sunday, November 23, 2014 while I was at a chevron gas station. This time it happened when I tried to start the vehicle after finishing pumping gasoline to the gas tank and finished with the payment. I had to get someone to push the car away from pump station and tried to get help from people who came to the gas station to fill their vehicles with gasoline. My wife eventually came to the gas station with a jump cable and I was able to jump start the vehicle then. Afterwards, I drove the vehicle to an o'reilly auto part store and proceeded to purchase a new battery. However, before I let the store clerk replace my car's battery, I asked him to run a test on the car's battery, and the result indicated that the battery is still in good condition. This reminded me of the exact same situation when I lost complete power to the vehicle, and had to jump start it about 6 - 8 months earlier. I also drove myself to another o'reilly auto part store and the same scenario played out. These experiences told me that something is not normal. Some form of short-circuitry must happen that caused my car to lose its power.

25 Equipment problem

I was driving through a neighborhood one night on my way home and my car just stopped and cut off in the middle of the street. It would not turn back on so I called aaa. Once aaa arrived, they stated that it was my battery. He then said this battery is not any good, I told him I had just bought it 6 months prior from aaa . So the driver replaced my battery for free. This would be my 3rd battery in 1. 5 years. New problem, my car still would not start. Not knowing the problem, my car was towed to the mechanic. The mechanic claimed that my fuel filter had went bad, that the car was not able to receive any gas. First of all, I had never heard of a fuel filter going bad especially with the mileage on y car. Honda service states to replace the filter around 75,000. Since I was no where near 75k what is the problem. Anyway, I had the fuel filter replaced at my own expense. At this point the engine light was on showing there was still a problem. The mechanic then stated that my O2 sensor went bad. So, I replaced the O2 sensor. The engine light remained. My car is too young for this many issues. My car had a little over 60k but I have replaced the battery 3 times, replaced the ball bearings, O2 sensor and gas filter. I find out today the brand new tires I purchased from Honda are not any good and the belt inside the tires are almost broken in two. Thanks Honda, I use to love you.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2014

Airbags failed to deploy when vehicle hit in front on driver's side. Vehicle was damaged to the extent the insurance company declared it a total loss.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

Ok, to summarize I am on my 3rd battery and I can't remember how many jump starts in 1. 5 years. Since I have owned this 09 I have never been able to keep my keys in the ignition in order to listen to music while the car isn't running. It doesn't matter if it is less than a minute the battery will totally drain and require a jump or replacement. I have gotten every battery tested and I have been told that the batteries are in good working order. But for some reason if I try to use the battery, the battery dies either requiring a jump start or like my last two incidents a brand new battery. There must be something wrong with electrical system because this surely should not be happening.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2014

While pulling into parking space, with foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle violently lunged forward into a block wall. The driver was unable to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes. The driver was hospitalized for 2 days.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

Uses excess amount of oil. Have to check daily. This is not normal. Have heard there is some kind of leak into the engine and a class action lawsuit. This should be a recall!!! also, metallic paint is peeling- very cheap and stereo system components not working. Also makes a loud werid sound sound from engine when it first starts.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

There was a grinding sound on a cold startup for approximately 1 second. I took it to the dealership about a year ago and they fixed the problem at no cost. Even after they fixed the problem the sound still existed but wasn't as loud. I recently took the car back to the Honda dealership and they wanted to charge me over $500 for the same problem and claimed that they fixed a different problem last time. They said the issue had to do with the vtc actuator. Now the problem has become a lot worse and the sound is very loud.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2013

Since I purchsed the car about 2 years ago I had to replace the breaks 3 tims and the rotors twice. Recently I had to bring my car back to the shop and now the auto shop is telling me I once again have to replace the breaks, rotos and calibers. This one fix is costing me $650. I think this is crazy that I had to replace this over 3 times. Their is something that has to be done. This is really annoying and making me not want to buy a Honda ever again. I think something should be done about this problem. Their have been thousands on complaints about this one incident and it costing hardworking people like myself alot of money out of our own pockets.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

I bought my car in 2012. From 2013-present, I've had to replace my brakes and rotors at least 10 times and now I'm being told my calipers need to be replaced. There is no way that I should have to replace my brakes that many times. In the last year alone, I've had to replace my brakes and rotors 3 times. I currently have to replace my rear brake pads and rotors when I last did it 3 or 4 months ago. I don't have the money to keep fixing this problem, Honda should be responsible! also in July 2015, my ac/heater stopped working, we thought it was the fuse, so we replaced it but its still not working. I am very frustrated and upset with the problems with my car, I will never buy another Honda! I have never had this problem with any car that I've owned.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2012

My Honda vehicle’s engine grinds or rattles at cold start-up. Honda dealerships or manufacturer (Honda) are not cooperating and not able to fix it with the reason that my vehicle is out of warranty. I have complained several times since several years however Honda / Honda dealerships have been under playing and rejecting my complaints. This is clearly a manufacturing defect. Please do something about it.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

Ever since I bought my car I've noticed that my oil burns up a lot faster than other cars. When I get an oil change done it only takes less than 2 months for the oil in the tank to burn away quickly. I use the recommended 5w 20. I'm having to top off the tank more often and spend more money on oil consumption.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2009

I didn't purchase the vehicle until October 20,2015 for my daughter to drive and when I took it to a dealer they told me that there was a recall on the vehicle but they couldn't fix it without writing paperwork. But when I look but the to see if my vehicle had an air bag recall that how I found out about the nose recall that hasn't been fixed.
