Vehicle caught on fire while parked. Firefighter stated that this was the “third or fourth” of the same make and model he has dealt with. A google search stated that this year make and model had recalls for fires in florida and other states. I had searched the VIN for recalls prior to this happening to ensure this vehicle was safe and there were no recalls associated with the VIN.
While backing out of my garage, my daughter observed flames coming out from the front center of the hood. I then put the car into park, and we got out of the car. I opened the hood, and observed smoke coming out of the alternator, and flames coming from the lower engine area. I then went into my garage to get my fire extinguisher, and put out the flames. I then phoned a towing service to transport my 2010 Honda Accord to the mobil station at 12 mile and farmington roads where I normally have my Honda serviced. I then telephoned my mechanic at the mobil station to let him know that the two truck would deliver my car to him shortly. My mechanic then recommended replacing the alternator and started, which I agreed to. The next repair was to replace the engine wiring in my Honda Accord, which did not repair the vehicle. After 8-9 days, could not repair my 2010 Honda Accord, on October 8, 2024 my neighbor and I visited suburban Honda in farmington hills, and were told to contact Honda America to open a case, which we did. After phoning 800-999-1009, and sharing the details of the engine compartment fire, an official Honda case [xxx] was opened to document the engine fire in my 2010 Honda Accord. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Horrible steering. E brake gets stuck. High rpm at times.
Keeps locking ever time I stop and shakes when I try to make a turn like it loses power.
Abs modular malfunctioning and messing up brakes so lights stay on.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that when he drives his vehicle over 40 mph , his check engine light illuminates and the vehicle would loose power. The contact stated that he is no longer to accelerate when depressing the gas pedal. The contact stated as he would continue to drive the failure goes away on its own, however would eventually reoccur. The contact stated that he took his vehicle an independent mechanic who replaced his crank sensor, spark plugs , as well as the catalytic converter. The contact stated that his car was driving normally for about a year , however the failure reoccurred. The contact has not contacted the dealer or manufacturer at the time. The contact stated that upon doing his own research he found that the same failure he was experiencing was recalled on the same year, make , and model vehicle as his. Nhtsa campaign 11v004000 (electrical system) however his vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 160,000.
This past week I experienced a catastrophic malfunction with the vehicle, while driving it appeared to short circuit and shut down. It would not allow me to drive in any gear whatsoever. Upon taking it to a mechanic at jiffy lube he stated the incident is identical and experienced the same issues that Honda and the dept of transportation deemed a recall that could have ended in severe injury or death. That issue and recall being (see below) powertrain:auto transmission control module (tcm, pcm). You see the mechanic at jiffy lube referred me to this recall due to his analysis and diagnosis being the same. Whom stated that the VIN doesn't state a recall, but it being the exact same model, make, engine, year, and coupled with the fact that it has tcm and pcm catastrophic damage, I was subjected to and encountered. I request this matter be further researched and investigation conducted because 1. 5 million vehicles were effected and I'd feel more confident and place more faith in Honda upon investigation.
Stalling. Fuel consumption. Headlights repaired. Electrical.
Passenger air bag keeps going on and off . There is a electrical problem with the front and back locks . The vct actuator has gone bad on the car which cause it to make a loud rattle noise . There is also something under the car that's loosen underneath the car when you make a turn you hear a knocking noise .
When driving vehicle in city and highway the door locks keep locking and unlocking. Electronic key lock only locks and unlocks the the passenger side and not the driver side. Vehicle is in motion.
I have a broken airbag sensor wire under my front passenger seat. The wire broke on it's own from simply moving the seat for my daughter to get in the back seat. Honda wants over $400 to replace this and claims the wire looks to have been cut. However I am the only owner of this vehicle & never cut this wire. I took the car tp another auto shop who gave me their opinion the wire simply broke thru normal use. I believe Honda needs to repair this at no cost as it's a safety concern & now the airbag light stays lit up at all times & I don't know if the airbags will work in an accident. I contacted Honda again today about this & even with the opinion of an auto shop they are saying they can't help since the vehicle isn't under warranty.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the ignition failed. Once the vehicle was started, it hesitated while driving as if it would stall. Also, the maintenance and spark plug indicators illuminated. Furthermore, the tail lights shorted out and failed to illuminate randomly. The contact was uncertain if the failures were related to NHTSA campaign numbers: 11v395000 (power train) and 11v004000 (electrical system). Crown Honda of southpoint (1001 southpoint autopark blvd, durham, nc 27713, (919) 883-4960) was contacted and indicated that an appointment needed to be scheduled to diagnose the vehicle. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall or warranty campaign. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
While driving vehicle, the engine caught on fire and the engine compartment burned up. The fire department had to put out the fire. . . On a city street.
Door lock actuators have stopped locking and unlocking the doors on three of the fours doors of the car. I have to manually lock and unlock the drivers door with the key in order to lock it. The two rear passenger doors do not unlock via the interior unlock button on the driver side and must be manually unlocked and locked by flipping the door lock itself on each door. This is ridiculous for a car that is only 7 years old . . To have all three door affected is faulty equipment and not incorrect use. This has been happening for about 5 months but we initially thought it was the battery in the electronic keys. After replacing it and the problems continuing the car was brought in for diagnostics and we were told the 3 actuators needed to be replaced.
The door locks do not lock and unlock with the remote or buttons in the car. The back doors have to be unlock manually. The back hatch will only unlock every so often. We took the car to team-Honda baton rouge la dealership in September 2016 for repair and they now will not work again.
Within the last year when my car is first started it grinds when the key is turned. Like it is not being turned all the way or being held too long but it isnt. Does not happen after the first start and doesn't happen every time. Seems to be worse when it is cold.
When making turns the doors automatically unlock and cabin lights come on as soon as you start driving straight again door lock and lights go off.
Every time you press accelerator after a stop, the power door locks click and will keep locking/unlocking the doors while driving. This could be dangerous with kids in the car. Plus it is very annoying while driving. Just purchased this vehicle one day ago. I have read where many Honda Accord owners are experiencing the same problem.
Seat belt warning light came on. I took the car to herb chambers, seekonk, MA, and they said it was the safety harness that needed replacement. They said that they would have to order the part as there was a shortage of these parts available. It would take a couple of weeks to get the part. It has been approximately three months and I still have not heard from them.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact was made aware of NHTSA campaign number: 11v00400 (electrical system) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 97,000. The VIN was not available. Djr.
Today I went to start my car and noticed that my mileage changed from 45,000 to 700,000.
Brought a car from milenium Honda in hempstead. Less then 4 months need a new transmission service manager refuse to give me a loaner car when I went to get it fixed. Still having problems with my car. Sold me a lemon. Making a sound like the engine is going to fall out.
Driving approximately10-15 mph on a local round-about and the engine appeared to stop running. I coasted to an intersection and stopped along the road. Engine turned over initially then only buzzing sound. Shifter locked in park after stopping. Door locks and windows were functional as well as the fan motor. Limited lights on the panel, tire pressure system, and red passenger seat icons were lighted. I would consider this a dangerous occurrence. Fortunately I was not in a bad location for stopping.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that when the key is inserted into the ignition it makes a sparkling noise. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure was 36,000. Kw.
Driver entered parking garage, stopped, received parking ticket, arm raised on parking entrance machine, driver removed foot from brake, car began to accelerate. Speed continuously increased. Driver pressed brakes twice - no response from brakes. Driver swerved right to avoid car on left. Car jumped 5 inch curve, knocked over free standing metal sign. Car continued to accelerate. Driver saw wall at left and aimed car at wall, intentionally. Driver believed that crashing car was the only way to stop the car. Driver aimed at and hit wall "head on". Air bags deployed. Car judged total loss. Driver suffered damaged right knee (broken tibia plateau, torn cartilage, damaged lower femur), broken nose, broken eye socket. . Passenger suffered broken left hand and bruised ribs. Emergency medial team took driver/passengers to hospital; released after 11 hours. Total time of car acceleration incident described here - 4 to 5 seconds. Impact speed estimated between 30 and 50 mph.
All 4 of my lock actuators have gone out in about a 6 year period of time. They went out individually approximately a year apart. The problem started within the first 3 years of owning the car and should have been covered under the warranty. Honda did cover the first but refused to cover the other 4. I️ had asked to to have all of them replaced initially and was told no. Honda obviously bought a batch of bad lock actuators. I have owned 8 Honda's over the last 35 years and have never had a single lock actuator go out in any Honda I️ have ever owned.
There is a recall for 2010 Honda Accords re engine stalling while driving. Before I found out about the recall, I experienced my vehicle stalling twice on two seperate occasions and I immediately took it to Honda dealership, and they said they could not duplicate the problem so there was nothing they could do. Now that I am aware of the recall, I called Honda and they said my VIN doesnt apply. Which puzzles me when I experienced the same issues.

Transmission jumps. Hesitates and stalls somewhat frequently, a lot more than to be expected of a car only 2 years old. More so at the lower gears when accelerating. Rpm is not consistent with throttle input. Unfortunately, it does not trigger the check engine light, so Honda does not see an issue, but something is off with the drivable.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle had been parked and when he returned to the vehicle, all four windows were opened. The contact discovered in the vehicle owner's manual that if the key was turned twice, all of the windows would open whether they were locked or not. The contact stated that the mechanism should be disabled. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The current and failure mileage was approximately 3,200. Updated 4/4/11 the consumer stated that holding the holding the unlock button for 10 seconds on second push would also roll down all the windows. The dealer reprogrammed the unlock remote. Updated 04/06/11.
Unable to get the lock mechanism to engage to start the car. My mother has been left stranded five times due to lock mechanism seizing and her being unable to start car. She has called the Honda service dept. Twice and they recommended pulling hard on steering wheel (toward chest of driver). They obviously knew to recommend this remedy. But my mother is 90 pounds and frail. It took strong males (strangers in a parking lot, most recently while it was snowing) to pull the steering wheel out to affect the remedy so the car would start. Honda has not offered to correct the problem and tries to blame her for "leaning on the steering wheel" as she exits the vehicle. 90 pounds??? my extended family has owned 20+ Honda's in the past - including me owning a 2009 ex-l. We are all now disappointed. Not to mention that my mother was made to wait in Honda service for her initial 3000 mile oil change for 2 hours. They also charge her for rotating the tires at 3000 miles. . . Talking about taking advantage of an elderly widow. . . . . She went later to have the air checked in her tires because of the low pressure warning (remember, she is recently widowed with no knowledge of cars and her children are hours away) and they mad her wait 1 hour for this. Shame on Honda. Her car is up for sale and so is mine. The extended family will no longer buy Honda's. Her local dealer where she bought the car is asheboro Honda, asheboro, north carolina. They have thus far been indifferent to her situation.
