Nine problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 2011 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2011 Honda Accord based on all problems reported for the 2011 Accord.
On Tuesday, September 23, I was applying the brakes as I was approaching a stop sign. When I had slowed to about fifteen miles an hour the car suddenly accelerated and the brakes were not enough to stop it so I shifted into neutral and stopped. The engine continued to race in neutral. I shifted into drive and things returned to normal. I then started to move forward and the car suddenly again accelerated rapidly. I shifted into neutral and then into drive and things returned to normal. I then drove home without a further problem.
The contact owns a 2011 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle the accelerator pedal became stuck causing the vehicle to experience unintended acceleration and crashed into a building causing the airbag to deploy. No injuries were reported and no police report was taken. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.
The car accelerates on its own, when you put it on p it stays fully accelerated. When the vehicle is stationary. In motion is doing the same thing.
When driving my 2011 Honda v6 elx, purchased 1/21/15 I have experienced an intermittent hesitation in many situations. While slowing in traffic,at a stoplight or sign, making a left turn, there is a acceleration gap. This occurs when I'm ready to go and reach speeds upward of 15-40 mph, depending on the situation. There's just nothing at the peddle. I must let off and quickly re- apply the peddle again when it finally accelerates! now that I've read these complaints I see several others with the exact same issue. This must be addressed right away! it is very dangerous if you can't get out of the way of oncoming traffic or some other situation while in motion. It's occurred at intersections with no 4 way stop signs, also in the middle of a 3 lane busy boulevard waiting to make a left turn. How many accidents must occur before you pursue this?this needs a recall investigation. Other than this, the vehicle has no other mechanical/electrical issues.
The contact owns a 2011 Honda Accord. While parked, the contact shifted the vehicle into drive and the vehicle abnormally accelerated to 15 mph, crashing into another vehicle. There were no injuries. The police were called to the scene of the crash and a police report was filed. The officer declared the vehicle unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had a technician inspect the vehicle. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.
I was parking my 2011 Honda Accord coupe in a space in a parking lot, feathering the brake and about to come to a complete stop. Suddenly the car revved up and accelerated forward. The engine raced as if the throttle had been floored. In about 2 feet of space it accelerated enough to jump about a 6-inch curb where it hit a woody bush, which stopped its forward motion.
The second day after I bought my car I noticed that the car hesitates or pauses when accelerating from a stop or from a rolling stop. It frequently happens when making left or right turns going forward. The engine does not stop but remain in idle mode. No warning lights come on.
Vehicle suffers from an un-commanded acceleration/throttle problem which is completely reproducible. It affects the low speed behavior of the vehicle particularly during turns where there is potential for loss of control. The defect was confirmed by Honda staff when road testing it versus other similar new vehicles. I have documentation from Honda to corroborate that. In any case, at this point, Honda is either unable or unwilling to address and resolve this safety defect.
Owned auto for 2 days when auto began to hesitate when pushing on gas pedal and then surged forward. Dealer could not duplicate problem. 5 days later did same for a period of 20 minutes and when driving to dealer (15 min) became progressively worse. Dealer has had auto for 8 days and cannot duplicate problem.
