The 2013 Honda Accord lx driver's side mirror has an outer segment designed to provide a wider view of the road to correct for blind spots. However, the design is self-defeating. The outer segment shows more area, but, to accomplish this, it compacts the field of view causing a confusing distortion. Additionally, the outer segment may appear out of focus to drivers wearing eye glasses. This issue was reported today by phone to Honda customer service and a statement was taken by a representative. A more appropriate design for the driver'¿¿s mirror would incorporate a seamless, gradual convex curve at the left side, producing an uninterrupted panoramic effect. A driver's side mirror that causes severe distortion and confusion poses a serious safety hazard. Even a momentary confusion at highway speeds may result in an accident and injury.
Auto adjusting rear view mirror has no manual override. Sensor is inaccurate and during ambient bright lights in darkness or at dawn or dusk the mirror will not adjust causing significant distraction from headlights of following cars thru the rear view mirror. There is no way to adjust or override this condition. Auto dimming rear view mirrors should come with a manual override function. I have to drive the vehicle in certain situations with the rear view pointed away from my eyesight in order to avoid being blinded.
