Multiple lights on dashboard: abs, eps, parking brake, vsa, tpms. Lights were intermittent at first, then became permanent. Car still runs and drives fine but abs and traction control do not function. Local mechanic scanned for codes and found the following: 121-11 vsa solenoid valve malfunction 81-20 central processing unit internal circuit malfunction 85-01 vsa system malfunction local mechanic has seen this before and recommended replacement of the vsa modulator valve assembly (part number 04571-t2f-l01). Repair has not been completed. Transmission died (cvt belt broke) at around 195,000 miles and about 6 months after vsa system issue started. Unsure if the problems were related. Car now has a new transmission.
Driving normally , while the car is doing 30mph power steering light comes on and steering wheel locks and becomes hard to turn the wheel. Light will go off randomly and resume normal driving. Looks like it may be an electrical issue as I checked and this car is known for this problem. Last month, my driveshaft broke off and couldn't continue driving, this was a known recall and I went to get it fixed. I do not feel safe driving my car with this known problem and you all should request Honda to recall this issue.
In my 2014 Honda Accord hybrid, the power steering light suddenly lit up while driving and the steering became stiff. It has been coming on and off for few months now. For 99% of the time the car runs normal, no issue, no dash light etc. I replaced the eps unit at Honda dealer, it went away for a while, now it has come back again. It cam happen at any day of the week atleast 2 to 3 times a week. The steering goes stiff with light on, stays stiff for 30 seconds to sometimes over a minute on highway then it goes off on its own. It is a major safety risk on highway when suddenly the light comes on and steering goes stiff, it gets very hard to mauver or change lanes during this time until it goes off and returns to normal.
The power steering seemed to have gotten "stuck" in place or so it felt or seemed for a short time while driving. I have noticed that when I am turning the wheel that I can hear noise when turning as if it's not moving smoothly. If my power steering stops working while driving or gets stuck, then that could pose a serious problem to me and other drivers. The problem is daily now with the sound of every left or right turn. This component has not been inspected by anyone yet. There weren't any warnings.
The abs, vsa, eps, and the parking brake systems began to appear on my dashboard. After diagnostics, it appeared that the vsa modulator was failing to provide all these components that are needed for safety in all driving conditions. After doing some research, I came to know that the modulator failure is very common in the Honda Accord models from year 2010 and above. Yet, Honda has yet to recall vehicles for this issue that affects the brake and steering systems. So far, the lights continuously appear and disappear. However, there is a huge difference when the intermittent lights appear. The car swerves too easily on rainy days when running through a puddle on the street. Even on windy days, sometimes it cannot handle when I am driving against the wind. The car's steering system feels too vulnerable and sensitive when these lights are on given that I have none of that systems providing the extra safety components. I fear that one day when I have to brake suddenly to prevent I crash, I will lose control instead and cause a fatal accident. The part is too expensive and total costs can reach up to $3,000 or more, and like everyone else who has reported this issue. I cannot afford to repair it as of now, but will need to be on a day where the financials can support the repair.
When at low speeds especially when pulling into parking spot with wheel turned, wheel seems to stick, heat turns off and once parked, power steering makes squeaking noise. Has occurred multiple times. Realize there is already an investigation into this. Unsure what issue may be. Will likely take to Honda to ensure safe operation of vehicle.
Car occasionally experiences unintended acceleration. This happening today 9/4/2022. Car was brought to a complete stop. It suddenly accelerated while the foot was still on the brake, causing it to rear-end the car in front. Thankfully there no physical injuries reported (yet) we had experienced this a couple of time before. I had contact Honda as well as the local dealer and they cleared the car with no changes.
Power steering randomly goes out while the vehicle is in motion, sometimes on the interstate at high speed. Honda has "fixed" this 4 times and still has issues. Turning the car off and back on temporarily resolves the issue.
Replaced vsa modulator at 100k, drove for 7 months, steering locked up as I was driving down highway. I was able to control and took to dealership where they said vsa modulator needed to be replaced again. Additionally, starter went out at 168k. Not the quality we expect from Honda.
The power steering stops working and the display on the screen goes blank leaving you with no power steering momentarily to steer the vehicle. Putting the driver and other at risk because you don’t have full control of the vehicle. In my situation after the vehicle seems to shut off jerking the steering wheel in your hands then it restarts again on it own. I’m in the process of scheduling a appointment with a repair shop for diagnosis. I did not notice any warning lamps, not to say there weren’t any it’s that I didn’t notice them.
The auto is hard to steer. I have not had an incident yet but it is increasingly hard to steer. I received a questionnaire a out this issue earlier this year. Auto steering was fine at that time. That is no longer the case.
While starting my vehicle the electronic power steering indicator light remained on after engine start. Now my vehicle's steering wheel in unable to turn.
On 5/24/2022 when starting the car the power steering warning light came on, and there was no power steering. The steering wheel shakes when trying to turn. If this had happened when the car was moving at speed there would be a high potential for a (lethal) accident. We have not seen this issue before. We tried restarting the car multiple times, and the warning and issue persisted. Checked the eps fuse, and that was fine. We ended up taking the car to grainger Honda in savannah, GA, and they confirmed the issue. They had to replace the eps control unit. Not sure if they disposed of the old eps control unit. The invoice number for the repair is 420950.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon placing her vehicle into reverse, the steering wheel failed to operate as the power steering assist warning symbol appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? computer system firmware, available for inspection, currently at dealership. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? multiple dashboard functions not functioning at random. Appears related to a firmware update provided under another recall (bulletin 15-055:6zs00eps software update). It is suspected due to timing of incident onset, beginning the day after service. Firmware was installed by dealership service dept. It is unknown at this time all of the buttons affected. Since buttons on steering wheel are affected, and cruise control is also located there, this could pose a severe hazard if cruise control does not respond to a disable request. Cell phone, radio, display change functions do not work from dashboard. There was a follow up software update (on same eps system) performed by dealership on June 30, 2020 that improved condition for one day, returning to same issues on the 2nd drive. Details of this update: previous version: 39990-t2f-a010 update program: 39990-t2f-a020 program part number: 39990-t2f-3050-m1in control module 39980-t2f-a014 has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Jim at the dealership confirmed the issue within 30 seconds of his investigation. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, dealership service center. Will be at dealership 2022-07-11 to 2022-07-15 (estimated) were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no prior indication until a dashboard function is used. First appeared 2022-05-17.
Every time I start my car the eps light comes on and I have to use an unnecessary amount of strength to turn the wheel. I am unable to drive the car because I can't turn it far enough to turn. I went to the Honda dealership and paid $1,000 to replace the control unit and the problem is still here. The eps light reappeared while I was driving after Honda claimed that they fixed the issue.
I am experiencing electric power steering loss on my 2014 Honda Accord lx. Every time I make a sharp turn to pull into a parking space the electric power steering cuts out. And then comes back on when I stop turning the steering wheel. This happened to me about 3 or 4 times with the last incident happening to me today. Now a check engine light is illuminated. There were no lamps illuminated prior to this. When the steering cuts out I can't control the car as the steering is frozen and it is too hard to turn the steering wheel and can easily cause an accident. I am going to bring it to the dealer ASAP.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while their family member was driving 20 mph and attempting to make a left turn when the vehicle suddenly began to pull to left. The driver ended up having to make an u- turn and ended up on the side of the road where the vehicle crashed into a tree. The air bag did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed, however, they were still waiting on the status of the vehicle's condition. The driver received injuries bruising to chest area and medical attention was needed. The contact stated that they believed their issue related to NHTSA investigation ea21001. The contact had not spoken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 15, 000.
The eps system has an issue that caused my car to stop on the highway. I was able to move to the side of the road but the car was jerking back and forth. The engine light and tire pressure sensor also infighter.
Driving home from work on an icy road, the steering failed. The car would not turn left or right, I was on a highway, driving at 55 mph and had to stop the car. The dashboard lit with a steering fault indicator, after the failure. My safety was greatly endangered by the sudden failure, with no steering control I have had the entire steering rack replaced by my local repair shop. The selling dealer was not interested in any concessions to me, nor any admission of an existing service bulletin. I have the failed steering rack in my possession.
The power steering stops working while driving and steering becomes very difficult. The power steering warning light also goes on. Honda repair in san rafael has had my car 3 times for repair, and they also replaced the power steering at no charge. Unfortunately, the problem persists. As far as I know, Honda has not been able to reproduce the problem. It happens after at least 30 minutes of driving. When I stop the car and turn it off the problem clears. 1/23/22 was the last time it happened to me. The car is with Honda repair now.
Electric power steering light came on just after vehicle startup. Steering was very difficult. When I attempted to turn the wheel, it shook and vibrated regardless of whether I was stopped or moving. Felt dangerous to drive because of the lack of control. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I stopped and started the vehicle several times, and the problem seemed to resolve after the 4 6th or 7th restart. I was then able to drive with no further incidents over a 25 miles drive with many turns. Now the next morning the warning light is back on, and the steering is once again very difficult and shaky. I've attempted dozens of stops and restarts, with rest periods between, but no luck in getting the power steering to work again.
On 11/18/2021 afternoon, once I turned on the engine, the steering was so tight and did not move at all. After that, the eps yellow light indicator was appeared, so I turned off the engine and turned on again. However, the same symptoms appeared again, so I called the tow and dropped off my car at the body shop. After the body shop diagnosed my car, they said it might happen because of the software error and recommend to bring the car to the dealer since the malfunction issue is related with the software. So, I called the tow again and the towing company dropped my car at dealer on sat. (11/20/2021). I went to dealer service center on Monday (11/22/2021) and the technician diagnosed that this was related to electronic power steering computer system (because the computer is so bad) not related to with the software of the driveshaft recall service (we got driveshaft recall service from this dealer a month ago) since the steering is the main part of the driving, if it's malfunctioned, it will lead the serious injuries to drivers, passengers, and other drivers. This problem diagnosed by the dealer service center technician. No, it was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or other, but I called american Honda and explained about the issue. However, they just said because it's out of warranty, they can't pay the service. The car has been only 6 years and I never ever heard from other nor had have experience that the steering was not move because of the bad eps computer system. There is no warning symptoms or message. It just appeared without waring on 11/18/2021 afternoon. (the car work properly in the same day of the morning). Because this problem is not made or cause by the driver, it is seriously unfair to pay the repair fee by the customer. Because America Honda used the malfunctioned computer part, they must pay the repair fee regardless warranty period. The report is pending and will be available by end of this wed.

While driving on freeway at 65 miles an hour power steering went out for a few seconds and cause me to veer out of lane. Luckily no one was in the lane next to me. Several time when pulling into parking space and making a sharp right or left turn the steering will have the same issue. The car has not been taken to a dealer and no warning lights or other symptoms appear prior to the failure. The issue on the freeway was the week of 11/15/2021. The other issue has been happening for several months. This is a very serious safety issue and could result in death of me or my children and grandchildren. I am very hesitant to drive this car on the freeway which is very inconvenient.
The power steering system of the car (68000 miles on odometer) abruptly stopped working while pulling away from the curb at the airport. Car was turned off and restarted; the steering warning light which had appeared went away. Steering worked well for a couple of weeks when it failed again while driving 60 mph on the interstate. This was very scary and dangerous to myself and other motorists! fortunately I was able to steer across lanes to right berm and stop. Car was restarted and taken to service location. The steering warning light was cleared and we were told to take the car to a Honda dealer. Honda dealer had car for over a week but could not get steering to 'act up'. For approximately the next 11 months, steering would randomly go off without warning. This happened in parking situations and also while turning on city roads. Eventually steering warning light could no longer be cleared by turning off motor and restarting. Honda dealer replaced entire steering rack and assembly for over $3500. Since steering system has been replaced, we have had no steering problems.
Starter not working all the time. Will not start engine. Constantly doing oil changes. Battery replacements too often. Won’t start.
Total loss of steering control which happened suddenly without warning. Traveling at 70 mph on us 75 20 miles south of naples florida. Car suddenly steered hard right. Unable to control steering. Collided with guard rail, then car turned hard left, crossed 3 lanes of interstate and came to stop in grass median. Turned off engine, turned it back on, then car was able to steer normally. It was lucky that there were no cars around me at the time. Accident happened at 12:30 pm 10/11/21. There were 2 people in car. Passenger side airbags deployed. Neck soft tissue injury to one person. Travelers insurance unable to arrange towing in timely fashion, so I pried the right rear fender away from the tire, with a jack handle. Drove slowly to Honda in naples, FL. They sent me to supreme auto collision in naples, where the car is located now. They have asked Honda to inspect it.
Momentary loss of power steering while maneuvering out of parking space. Jerking, power steering goes in and out. It's happened a handful of times recently. No service lights. It's difficult for me to understand problem and if, at some point, it may occurs at higher speeds. I don't want to take car to dealer because I can't preproduce problem.
When I turned the car there were no alarming lights. I reversed out my driveway, but once in the street I realized I could not turn my steering wheel. This is when several of the dashboard lights illuminated. The following lights illuminated: engine, power steering, and abs. I drove back into my drive way and placed the car in park. After about one minute in park the car turned off on its own. This put my safety at risk because this was at peak morning traffic and if I cannot steer to drive off after I reverse into traffic it can be severely dangerous. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no precursors to this issue. It drove fine the day before.
The steering is tight on the sharper turns such as parking and reversing the car. The steering wheel seems to be jammed and requires force to turn it. I bought the vehicle from the Honda dealer in 2017 and it has only 40,000 miles on it.
Unknown.
My car exhibited the identical problem described in TSB# 10152446. When I reported it to Honda, they said my vehicle doesn't qualify because the VIN # does not fall within the range of vehicles covered. This is a very obscure, specific and costly failure/repair. The fact that other identical vehicles (make, year, and specific model) are covered suggests to me that the method used to determine which cars to cover was in error. What do I need to do to have this investigated?.
Driving on expressway steering in my vehicle stop functioning, my car veered into a guard rail, almost causing myself and my passenger to lose our lives. We a suffering from severe pain and injuries.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle loss power steering assist and was difficult to steer. The contact manually steered the vehicle to the side of the roadway. The contact's husband arrived at the scene and drove the vehicle to the residence with manual steering only. The contact took the vehicle to mcconnell Honda (2840 eastern blvd, montgomery, al 36116, (334) 271-2500) to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
