general problems of the 2015 Honda Accord - part 1

I am reporting suspected odometer fraud and possible VIN [xxx] entation involving a vehicle being offered for sale. The seller stated the vehicle has approximately 123,000 miles. However, a vehicle history report and third-party valuation (carvana) show the same vehicle VIN [xxx] ) WI [xxx] les recorded. This is a discrepancy of more than 180,000 miles. I personally photographed the VIN plate on the vehicle and confirmed the VIN [xxx] ) matches the h [xxx] ing high mileage. The seller did not disclose the higher mileage and is advertising the vehicle at a value consistent with a much lower-mileage vehicle. This appears to be an intentional misrepresentation of the vehicle’s true mileage. I have screenshots of the listing, seller communications stating 123,000 miles, VIN [xxx] ) photos, and documentatio [xxx] er mileage history. I am submitting this complaint to report potential odometer rollback or mileage fraud so the vehicle can be investigated before another buyer is harmed. Abs modulator internal failure 85-01/61-11 the car cut off in the middle of me driving on the highway with my children also in the car with me it has been inspected by [xxx] who also states this is a major issue and should have been placed under recall years ago and that this is one of the major safety hazards they have seen when it cut off 4 lights appeared instantly information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. System charging error prompts on the dash board continuously. Check my battery and it’s not my battery. Steering wheel light turned on and car began to lock and the whole dashboard started to flicker while I was driving . I was driving and my steering wheel locked on me always causing an accident. I tried getting a jump and my battery is fine. Then when I try to move the vehicle the steering wheel starts to lock up. My radio even started to reset and glitch and my system was shutting back on and off while I was driving.

On June 17, 2025, I went with my mechanic to inspect a car I was considering purchasing. The vehicle is a 2015 Honda Accord sport, showing approximately 60,000 miles on the odometer. My mechanic performed a diagnostic scan, and everything appeared to be in good working order at the time. However, on June 23, 2025, I went to the dmv to register the vehicle, and I was informed that the car has a fraudulent odometer reading. The dmv has opened an investigation, but I won’t receive the results for a few months. I am now concerned that the car may not be safe to drive. It emits a burnt plastic smell after being driven and turned off, which raises serious safety concerns. I paid $10,700 for the vehicle and an additional $311 to register it and obtain a temporary plate.

Intermittent start of vehicle. Will drive fine even for a couple of hours. I stop for 10 minutes to go to store. Then its all dead. No power. Cannot even open the doors with my key fob. Tried pressing start - break pedal is hard. Called aaa. He did not have to jump start. I just kept pressing start. All of a sudden vehicle starts again like nothing happened. Its been fine so far for a week now. Happened twice already - same scenario. Drove it for an hour or so, then after stopping for 10 minutes its completely dead. Then will start again after several attempts -pressing the start button. Took it to Honda dealer. They cannot replicate the problem. Checked my starter, battery, alternator -did a multi-point inspection. Dealer said there are no errors. Cannot find any problem with my vehicle. They said to wait till it happens again and get it towed there dead. That's a terrible solution!.

The charging system pops up on my dashboard even though I replaced the battery charging sensor and the battery. I got the alternator check and it was good so but the car stalls on me from time to time when I take off or when am driving.

While I was driving my 2015 Honda Accord my car suddenly slowed down. Then it stopped driving so I pulled to the side of the road. When I stopped and put it in park to turn off/on it didn’t move an inch. This happened on my way to work in traffic I have no idea what is going on. I’m located in the us virgin islands ???? but the car was shipped down from florida to here. We have an Honda dealership that I can carry it to if necessary for inspection. My safety at moment was very risky because I was on my way to work and it had traffic all of a sudden my car slows down with me on the highway without any warnings or indications that it was failing so I was really scared at the moment because I had to think fast to get myself to the side of the road. I haven’t carried it to a dealer as yet because I haven’t had time to do so. None of the superior authorities have inspected or has inspected my car since it has happened I called for opinions some said it could be transmission failure. They where no symptoms of any warning signs or indications that my vehicle was going to give out it just stopped moving.

In November 2023 I began to experience difficulty starting the vehicle. The issue is the ignition switch has worn out. This issue is very random, I may start my car on average 10 times per day. It may not happen for 10 starts in a row. When it does happen, the vehicle may start after 3,5 7 tries or up to 20 including breaks in-between, different keys, etc. Key factors that have been eliminated are starter, battery and fuse. One important note I discovered today was that a mechanic on youtube mentioned having to remove starter and add a plate to the one end, so this could be part of an electrical issue that may only be associated with another year Honda Accord specifically with a v6. This should be a safety issue or at least diagnosed by Honda as it seems to be very prevalent within the brand and may occur in year #2 or #8. Having this random inoperable event happen when consumer 1. In a frigid snow storm rural part of America 2. In an emergency situation like medical, or safety late at night, with possible criminal entity or environment is not safe.

Vsa module failure 94613 miles . I understand this has become a common failure with this Honda. Reporting a failure with this car. Total repair cost $2030. 16 for vsa module $465. 86 for labor.

Vsa module went out. Spoke to a lot of people with 2013-2016 and all going out at the same time.

Sunroof exploded and shattered spontaneously without any signs of being hit by a flying debris or foreign objects, while driving approximately at 70 mph along I-15 north, between the nisqualli and palmdale road exits, in victorville, CA 92392. No vehicle was ahead of me and two cars approximately 300 feet behind were following me. This happened on a Sunday between 1-2 pm. I did not know that there were incidents of spontaneous explosion and shattering of sunroofs until I was able to read an article while shopping online for a genuine Honda sunroof replacement, since valley-hi Honda informed me that the part is backordered with no eta. I hope Honda will replace it for free with a recall advisory.

Warning lights on dash (abs, brake, steering, fcw, ldw, slip/traction control) all came on at the same time, every time I started the car. Brought to holler Honda winter park, FL and they diagnosed as having faulty vsa modulator-control unit. Part has not been available for over 2 years and don't know when will be available. Dangerous, but told fine to drive car just not to jam on brakes! doesn't sound safe to me. No stability control! miraculously found Honda part at Honda dealer in NJ by searching online after holler gave me part number. Paid over $900 to buy part/shipping. Brought to holler to fix. Within 2 weeks had 2 very close calls where drivers cut right in front of me almost causing collision and causing me to have to jam on my brakes. But. . . Fcw and abs didn't work. Fcw never alerted me to possible collision (used to work perfectly for over 7 years I've had the car) and abs did not work (brakes locked up and I skidded but miraculously stopped in time). Brought back to holler Honda and they plugged it in to computer and 1st told me that I had turned off the fcw (I wouldn't know how to do this even if it were possible), then when they could not show me how to turn it back on (because I don't have the ability to turn it off) they told me I must not have fcw (I do) and that the abs was working just fine (it's not). After speaking with Honda na and sharing the info with them, they told me that I did in fact have fcw and that no one could find anything wrong with the car. I think I bought a bad "new" vsa mod. But since Honda refuses to issue a recall when I told them about the problem, I will never know and now can't do anything about it. I know I'm not the only one driving around with a potentially dangerous car because this repair cannot be done and there is an "indefinite, nation-wide waiting list" on the part (due to supply issues). Spent over $1400 to basically have all the warning lights turned off and the car not repaired.

Battery has been replaced 3 times. Starter is failing. It sometimes takes up to 15 minutes or more to crank my car making me late for work. Running errands/getting in & out of the car & having to turn the key 50 times in the heat of summer with a baby in the car is a safety hazard. Fuel pump issue when I put my car in reverse & start to back up, my car will die. Another safety hazard because I don’t have control of my car, it just keeps rolling backwards after it dies & doesn’t allow me to get out of the way if another vehicle is coming. Information center on the dashboard often tells me to check fuel cap. Anything happening in the fuel area is certainly hazardous. I’ve called the Honda dealership & they tell me my car is no longer under warranty. Yes, everything is available for inspection. The starter problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. The fuel cap notification appeared 2 weeks ago but the car has been dying in reverse for 2 years. The starter began failing 4 months ago with no help from the Honda dealership due to my warranty being expired.

Ignition switch takes multiple times to start now just failed.

Starter is faulty. Car starter does not engage engine. Needed to get it replaced.

Car is making weird static/ like someone is getting crushed near dashboard driver side but also sounds like near rear view mirror but as well as near speaker.

There are multiple complaints about starting issues and abs module issues for 2013-2016 Accords online. I myself am also experiencing starting issues and abs issues I have bought a starter 4 times from Honda and they have all had the same issue of intermittently working. My abs module has just went out and Honda wants 1,300 for a problem that has been known about since the 2013 release. Something needs to be done as I have paid well over $3,000 for the issue to not be fixed.

I can always feel that the transmission is not responsive. Every now and then when I back up or the car moves into the first gear after I put it in the drive mode it takes awhile before it really moves. It staggers and stalls before the acceleration finally kicks in. The scariest incident was when I needed to accelerate onto the highway on the entry ramp and the car was stalling and refusing to increase torque and speed even though the acceleration pedal was all the way floored. It almost caused a major crash from the rear. Every Honda dealer I go to cannot seem to replicate the issue I keep experiencing and dismiss my account as if it is in my head. I wish someone addresses this important warning urgently before there is a catastrophic car incident involving our lives. Looking forward to a prompt resolution to a recurring issue. My guess is that there was a transmission software update from the dealership when I first bought the car which has caused this recurring transmission issue which Honda refuses to acknowledge.

My ac compressor is failing, despite the fact that the car is less than 7 years old (purchased Nov 2015) and was driven sparingly for two pandemic years. Other Hondas and several other 2015 car models are known to have ac compressor recalls, of which I think this is related. These units should not have to be replaced so early. Also, my dealer charged $400 just to identify the issue and wanted more than $1700 to fix it despite the part being available for less than $500. That’s price gouging on top of selling defective vehicles.

It is regarding the starter grinds or spins at startup (service bulletin 16-002). My car was giving finding noise while starting. When I checked with my dealer they replaced the new starter (I paid from my pocket). Again I got the same issue, then started was replaces 2nd time. On the very next day I received the same issue. So they took their time and did the diagnosis that this is something to do with (service bulletin 16-002). Dealr is asking for parts and repair cost close to 4. 5 grand. I did the research and found that this is an ongoing issue and bulletin was issued. Please advise me as I got stranded on a cold day in chicago with my family. It is very unsafe.

The window side run channel inexplicably began to fold and buckle, making it impossible to close the driver’s side front window.

Driving on freeway went and applied foot to gas pedal and car goes into limp mode causing in ability to drive as there isnt any power and mil light starts to blink and or will set and if it sets the traction steering and tp light also come on. Have to pull over turn car off and then the car will go this mil if sets is a p0304 code but light will go off.

I am having issues starting my vehicle. I have a manufacture alarm system installed in a vehicle. I've never had issues but recently, when I sometimes (not consistently) hear my alarm honks twice before my the car engine starts. Now, my car doesn't even start, no click whatsoever. All the lights do come on when I attempt to start the car. I got a diagnosis done with napa, no issues with the battery or starter. I also changed the battery on my key. Starting my vehicle was never an issue but recently, maybe 3 months ago. I've searched this issue on the internet and saw that some customers are having the same honking issues and problems with starting their car. I am very concern for my safety that my vehicle does not start. I am not able to quickly start my vehicle when there is an emergency and IA stranded trying to start my car. Currently, I have been successful in starting my vehicle after multiple attempts, activating and deactivating my alarm, closing and opening the car door, just trying to troubleshoot the issue so I could get my car started. It's becoming an issue as my car is having issues starting daily and I fear for my safety. I contacted a Honda dealership to see what could be done but I was told it would cause me $175 to simply diagnose my vehicle which I don't have the capability of paying for. I currently have 98,000 miles on my vehicle and get an oil change, other maintenance done regularly. I don't expect this issue to happen on a reliable vehicle like a Honda Accord so this issue is surprising to me. It is causing me alot of stress and trauma whenever I start my car, not knowing if I will get stranded or not.

Honda Accord lx 2015 engine sputtered and failed 3 times while in idle with a/c on then won’t start after that. Battery, alternator confirmed good. Use medium grade gas bp, lights on, drives well after it starts. Changed battery-mechanic says good. So why does this keep happening? am frustrated as it is expensive to change out the parts. Honda has lost its good reputation. Taking back to Honda dealer in miami to fix again.

With no warning, the battery failed. The car started up again with a jump from aaa. I drove it for 45 minutes. Turned off the car and it would not start again. Had to spend almost $200 to get a new battery on the spot. I have not been to a dealer or service center. I was lucky to be in a position to get a new battery quickly. It may have affected my safety if I'd been out of the city and unable to get help.

The car will not start. Steering wheel and gearshift are locked. Beeps and flashes various symbols when attempting to start. Have done trouble shooting processes in drivers manual with no success. Car worked fine last night. Cannot get car to do anything. Dangerous and frustrating--what if it happened while traveling? if it won't operate, depending when it occurred could compromise safety--parked in a public area, etcetera. Car is up to date with maintenance and vehicle inspection. Presently waiting for car to be towed to dealer.

My 2015 Honda Accord v6 exl auto transmission will not start. When I press the start button with my foot on the break, the car does not start.

The following lights are all fcw, ldw, air bag, check engine, power steering, abs, and tire pressure monitoring system these lights are on and off for at least 5 times in the last 50 days.

My daughter was driving my car on route 80 on Thursday, may 13th around 9:10 am when she heard a noise and thought it might be her tire. She pulled off the exit ramp for parsippany and pulled over. When she stepped out of the car she felt heat. She turned around and saw flames under the car. She reached in for her bag and purse and when she moved away the entire car was in flames by the time the state police arrived. She did sustain a burn to her ankle which is still healing and will take about 6-8 weeks. She got burnt on her arm, neck, ear lobe, her hair line was singed as well as her eyelashes. I am waiting for the report from the parsippany fire department. The netcong state police were on the scene and I have that report number, I have not been able to retrieve this report. The car was examined by the insurance company and listed as a total loss. Unfortunately, we do not know the cause of the fire and Honda was not the most responsive during this entire thing. There was absolutely no warning of what was going on and if she did not hear something and think it was a tire she would not be here today. I will attach the photos we have of the car.

I have 60,000 mile starter is bad.

I purchased a 2015 Honda Accord hybrid in 2015. In early April 2021, I noticed my driver’s door lock was not working. At first intermittently then not at all. I took it to my Honda dealership and paid to have it repaired. Shortly after, the other 3 actuators stopped working. This time I realized something was wrong so I spoke to my Honda dealership & they had Honda USA pay the $100 deductible on my extended warranty. In Nov. 2023 I tried to get my grandchild out of the backseat car seat but the door would not open. I had to run around to the driver’s front door, unlock it, reach over and manually unlock the passenger’s front door and then I was able to open the back door to reach my grandchild. If this had been an emergency, even the few minutes that it took me to unlock the door could mean the difference between life and death. This is a major safety isssue! I spoke with my dealership and Honda USA & they agreed to pay for most of the(5t)ahactuator. I was told “this is the last thing they will do for me!”as if I asked for their door actuators to be faulty. I have owned Honda’s since 1989 and have never had an issue like this. Yes, parts break but not multiple times the same part. It is obviously defective. Yesterday, I tried to get my grandchild out of her car seat again and again the door would not open. I have now replaced the actuators once and am on my second round of replacing them. I google searched and saw Honda recalled actuators for certain make and models, is there a reason someone’s life is more valuable based on the make and model they drive? I see it took a class action lawsuit to get Honda to recall the actuators on other models and provide a 7 year extended warranty on the part. I’m hopeful it won’t again take a class action lawsuit but rather your investigation to realize there are still too many faulty door actuators still in circulation. Rear camera stop working for no reason and forwards collision doesn't work well when it's hot.

Car was in motion on county road when the steering wheel took over the operation of the vehicle and went odd the road into a wooded area. Towed to nick nicholas Ford who telephoned to tell me that the problem cannot be repaired. I then had to total said vehicle. 30;000 plus miles is too low mileage for this to happen. Something is wrong as I did my due diligence before purchase of vehicle. Driving straight. Photos to follow don't have at this time.

Car would not start completely one night leaving me stranded. Now intermittent starting issues at less than 33k miles. Very common issue with starter and Honda has issued a service bulletin but no recall.

I was pulling slowly into a parking spot in a parking lot when suddenly car accelerated out of control and brakes did not function. . Car was going extremely fast. . I hit a post and a building. . Airbag deployed. . Car was totaled. . Airbag saved me. Car only had little over 30,500 miles. . In excellent condition. My family who drove the car car said that at times when releasing brake the car would lurch fast forward or back when in reverse. When the car came to a stop after hitting building the 1st thing I did was look where my foot was. . It was on the brake. I knew it would be considered "driver error" because I am 80 yrs. Old. But it was the car. Actually this happened before a few months ago but I was able to stop car . Same situation. . Pulling slowly into a parking spot in a mcdonald's parking lot. Car suddenly accelerated, jumped curb went down a hill and ended up on new road under construction. . That lane had not opened yet. I managed to stop at bottom of hill. No injury. I have a clean driving record. . No acciden ts. I am a retired rn. . Very clear minded. No serious health problems.
