Scanned for codes. Found p0303, p0299, and p2243 stored. Found coolant entering cylinder 3. Found excessive play in the waste gate rod and found a/f sensor is not responding. Needs head gasket. Vehicle starts up and runs rough. All alerts on alerts on dash on cust states check engine light on. Honda sensing alerts on.
Christmas tree dashboard with all lights on appeared a few weeks ago. Took car to auto shops twice. First time I was told coil 1 for cylinder 1 was misfiring, replaced with new coil. Lights did not go away, got my codes read again and was same error message of coil 1 misfire. In the past week car would not accelerate past 15mph after start up. I was immediately concerned it was a head gasket issue since that is a very known defect for my exact make and model of vehicle. Took into my Honda dealership where I purchased my Accord brand new. Was just told fuel injectors need to be replaced even though vehicle has been maintained properly. To me this seems this is directly correlated with the current fuel pump recall issue, I asked the service advisor if that was the case and she said she’d get back with me, and that she’s currently waiting to hear back from my lifetime powertrain warranty company (fidelity warranty services) to see if the fuel injector replacement is covered by them. If this make and model has time and time again been known to have faulty fuel injectors and head gasket issues that directly put the drivers safety at risk and end up causing thousands of dollars in repairs, Honda needs to take responsibility for rushing out vehicles without properly testing them first. If fuel injectors are not covered under my warranty, I will be contacting american Honda to assist me with the cost of the repairs.
Se mantienen encendidas las luces del tablero.
I was on the highway with moderate traffic. My car would no longer accelerate due to a blown head gasket out of nowhere, I was on the far left lane and had to traverse over 5 lanes in moderate traffic while other drivers on the highway were going 60+ mph. This is a common issue among Honda Accords with the 1. 5 engines.
While taking off from a full stop, the vehicle's transmission shifted violently to the point where it felt as if the car was rear-ended. This is an issue for which I've filed numerous complaints before with NHTSA knowing about the problem by now, and having done nothing to initiate a recall. I have also taken the car to the dealer who failed to properly diagnose the issue. Finally, another mechanic did provide me with an entry from Honda where they sort of admit to the issue. The fix, of course, is to replace the valve body or the whole transmission. Hence, due to NHTSA sitting on their thumbs, thousands (maybe, hundreds of thousands) are now stuck with a vehicle which will need a multi-thousand dollar repair outside the warranty and NHTSA did not properly investigate the issue and push the manufacture to issue a recall.
Hi, I would like to address two issues separately for my 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5t 6mt; one dealing with the open recall and one dealing with how the vehicle operates dangerously due to poor programming under specific operating conditions. To add, I speak as an engineer working in the automotive space specifically on the design of adas and av systems with iso26262 and sotif in mind. 1) there is an open recall for my vehicle for a fuel pump issue. I am experiencing some of the symptoms of this issue, specifically, my car will hesitate at around 4000 rpms during acceleration. I immediately back off the accelerator and then the check engine light flashes and I lose all engine power. I then restart my vehicle and it operates more or less normally with the occasional illumination of all the dash lights. I have taken my car to the dealership expressing my concerns (braman Honda of palm beach in particular) and they said they cannot do anything about it unless since there are no parts. I have paid for them to diagnose the issue but since they cannot recreate the issue (as it is intermittent) they cannot do anything. Question: what is the point of a recall if a vehicle experiencing the symptoms that lead to the recall cannot be repaired due to "part shortages"? 2) I want to talk specifically of the vehicle programming to cut engine power off. I think I have a separate electrical issue that causes all the lights on the dashboard to go off and again cut engine power. I understand that engineers may want to design their vehicles to cut power off when there is a potential mechanical failure, but in this case the issue is purely electrical. The fact that I can restart my car and accelerate normally shows that the issue is not mechanical. I believe this programming needs to be addressed. To be frank, losing engine power while driving on the highway may lead to catastrophic consequences. I feel that my vehicle is unsafe to drive since it has happened to me multiple times already.
Numerous Honda Accord 1. 5t have blown head gaskets, numerous complaints of this happening during freeway travel. The car will suddenly go into a "limp mode" and won't let you travel over 20mph. This could cause an accident. Numerous examples of this can be found on youtube, facebook, reddit, and other social media outlets. Honda service techs explained this happens because of weak head bolts that stretch overtime due to pre detonation. Most commonly accruing between 20,000-75,000 miles. No recall, extended warranty, or TSB has been issued by Honda, often leaving the owner with a bill between $5000-$10,000.
I was attempting to accelerate on the acceleration ramp to merge into traffic on the interstate, when my vehicle began violently jerking, and suddenly lost all power. My check engine light came on and it went into limp mode. This has happened twice now. Both times I was able to make it safely into the shoulder of the road with my hazard lights on. I turned the vehicle off, reset it, and have had to drive it since. The warning lights are on and off, depending. They’ve had since December of 2023 to release a recall and they haven’t yet. I need a remedy.
My head gasket is blown. It blown while I was driving down the road, it went into limp mode. I took it to the dealership and got it inspected. My car kept running hot, it also keep losing speed and lights on the dashboard.
These Accords are an extreme safety hazzard. Experienced an instant loss of power and without any prior warning signs. Once the issue accured the vehicle was impossible to drive putting the vehicle occupants and everyone on the road at risk. Now Honda does not want to fix the problem because they feel that would be an admission of guilt. This is not the first I've heard of this issue with these vehicles and I'm sure it will not be the last please help push these vehicles for a safety recall before more people get hurt.
My 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5 turbo (original owner) 77,000 miles. Started having numerous warning lights on dash and vehicle was violently shaken. On several occasions, vehicle had no acceleration over 10mph which caused me to have several close calls on the highway. Took it to Honda dealer and they stated that I had a blown head gasket and the repairs would cost five thousand eight hundred dollars! unfortunately I have read numerous posts on Honda forums and hundreds of customers with the same vehicle year and model are also reporting the same problems. Honda will not pay for any repairs since it is past warranty. This needs to be upgraded to a recall by Honda, very upset customer!.
All of the lights in the dash came on . We took it to Honda , at first they said it was the coils and spark plugs. I had them replaced , the same thing happened again the computer read that it was misfiring on one of the cylinders . They kept it and ran several tests . They then tried to say that it the result of a bad oil change but we knew better. After about a month they said that it had over heated and blown the head gasket . I ended up having to use my warranty and pay a deductible.
I got a blown head gasket to cynlinder #3 at under 100k miles. I maintain it regularly as needed by use of the maintenance minder. Never got any indication of engine troubles before. On doing some research this seems to be a common problem for this make and model and seems to be a possible defect. The repair was $4300 to repair the head gasket.
Failed: 2018 Honda Accord hybrid 67,966 miles - headgasket replacement needed (determined by dealer dch Honda paramus, NJ / reconfirmed by a private mechanic) yes, the vehicle is available for inspection. Safety issue: the engine can suddenly overheat/seize and become inoperable. Warning message: engine temperature near limit. Avoid heavy acceleration and high speed. A warning message appeared on may 30, 2024 other details: after searching via google, youtube, carcomplaints. Com, and other sites, the issue seems to start as early as 60~70k miles. The most probable source of the issue appears to be a weak rod or with pressure.
All warning systems triggered, repeatedly, over the past year. Honda dealership misdiagnosed as a fuel injector. Had fuel injector replaced, but same issue occurred and this time all warnings came on and vehicle lost power on highway with my baby daughter inside. So, after spending thousands attempting to resolve the issue, I towed again to Honda and it was correctly diagnosed as a failed head gasket requiring $5. 5k to repair. Service advisor said he's seen "many of these" recently. Called around tampa and all mechanics advise (consistent with numerous complaints online car communities) failed head gasket is a known and common safety issue (to the extent that parts are on backorder as a result of repairs). Called american Honda corporation and they led me to believe they would repair, but after an hour of wasting my time, and repeated requests to hold so agent could speak with supervisor, agent then said repeatedly "there is nothing we can do for you. " this abject safety failure and demonstrated bad faith should not be allowed by regulators who have a duty to mandate that auto manufacturers do the right thing and issue safety recalls for known issues such as the head gasket failure I have experienced.
To whom it may concern, I understand there is an investigation on leaking timing chain/pully cover. My vehicle has this issue. Is it covered by a recall? please advise.
I have a 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5t sport. It has 113,000 miles on it. And I took it in for a diagnosis due to an inspection made by walmart and I was told by the Honda dealership I have a blown head gasket. After much research and discovery, I found out this is a common and typical issue with this model car and that Honda corporation knows about it but refuses to issue a recall. I never experienced any warnings, car never ran hot or overheated. There was never any indication that the head gasket was an issue. Now that they have determined this, they are telling me because it is out of warranty it will not be covered and I am responsible for the $3000 charge to fix the head gasket. This is very upsetting being that Honda is very aware of the situation and seem to care less about the safety of their vehicle owners and the terrible situation that this puts their customers in.
There are 10 warning lights currently on the dash. This is and has been an ongoing issue for over a year. Turning off the car then turning it back on the lights would go away. The car would periodically start to slow on its own while foot was still on the gas pedal which was dangerous in the middle of traffic or going 65 to 70 miles per hour on a highway. December 31, 2024 my car got towed to the Honda dealership because the car stalled and wouldn't go past 15 miles per hour. Again the dash lit up. It was my understanding that it was because of the latest recall of the fuel pump issue that took over a year to be completed. The recall of the fuel pump was done January 6, 2025which took a week to complete and a week of work I missed with no available loaner car available to me. Once I got the car back the lights were not on the dash anymore but within 5 minutes of driving the car the lights came back on but the car did not stall and was able to go past the 15 miles per hour that was the original problem. Since January 2025 I have been dealing with these warning indicator lights and being the lights were on when Honda received the car to perform the recall I would assume a diagnosis would have been done but once I got the receipt there was no other issues recorded that was wrong with the car. There are absolutely too many Honda Accords with this problem. I've read everything from moisture in the tail lights triggering the lights, faulty battery, head gaskets, injectors to spark plugs. My car is no longer under a warranty and I have no means of paying for a guessing game when it comes to diagnosing the real problem with these cars. People are paying $5000 sometimes more and still having the same problem once they drive away. I honestly think a recall on this issue need to happen before something tragic happens. Maybe because it took over a year for Honda to get parts in to fix the recall fuel pump issue this is an exact result of going so long with the faulty fuel pump.
Fuel pump recall. Put in an order with Honda dealer January 2024 for the pump. On February 2025 asked if they submitted the order back in January 2024? they said it was. Now it's August 2025 (20 months since) and waiting. Nhtsa says if they failed to fix in a timely manner to make a report online. Is 20 months long enough? driving with a safety recall. Second making a complaint with the 10 speed auto transmission 2nd to 3rd hard shift and 4th to 3rd hard shift. Putting stress on other components can break mounts, the transmission, axles, ect. Could also launch the car into the car in front of you, in heavy (slow bumper to bumper) traffic. Wasted my own money and time draining and filling 5 quarts of Honda 2. 0 transmission fluid. (also replaced the trans filter behind the warmer housing) did not fix the issue. Contacted american Honda and they said it's out of warranty and I need to pay for diagnostic and repairs. (I just bought the car in 2023 at 45k miles. Previous owner must of felt it and should of did something while under warranty. ) Honda know this issue from the beginning and hiding the issue to save money. Check the Accord forums online. It's most of us if not all the 18-20 10 speed models. Vehicle is 2018 Accord 2. 0 10 speed 50k miles. Plus the normal phantom braking and lane departure which will automatically steer you off the road, so you have to fight the steering wheel.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started vibrating violently. The vehicle then lost motive power and was unable to accelerate above 10 mph. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined there was a misfire in cylinder #3. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 77,000.
I own a 2018 Honda Accord ex-l equipped with the 1. 5-liter turbo engine. Over time, the vehicle began showing symptoms of coolant loss without any visible leaks, a sweet odor under the hood, and intermittent white smoke from the exhaust after startup. The engine would sometimes idle roughly and hesitate under acceleration. No external leaks were found by my mechanic. I later learned that these symptoms are consistent with a possible head-gasket or coolant-intrusion issue affecting this engine type. The problem poses a potential safety risk because coolant can enter the combustion chambers, leading to engine misfire, loss of power, or complete engine failure while driving. The issue has not yet been formally recalled, but I have seen multiple complaints and reports of similar failures in 2018–2022 Accords, civics, and cr-vs with the same 1. 5-liter turbo engine. A warning light (“check engine”) appeared intermittently, and the temperature gauge fluctuated during normal driving. The problem has been inspected by an independent repair shop, but Honda has not provided a permanent repair or warranty coverage. The issue appears to be consistent with the allegations in recent class action filings regarding head-gasket and coolant-leak defects in Honda 1. 5t engines.
Fuel pump or injector has malfunctioned. It is has already been inspected by a Honda dealer. Safety at risk because there was a recall on the fuel system of Hondas in 2020. I purchased this vehicle in 2021 and was not made aware. The vehicle could stall and cause an accident. No other problem currently reported on the vehicle. I was just sitting in a parking space when the engine light came on.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle did not accelerate as intended. In addition, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact also stated that as the failure continued, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was advised to have the transmission flushed. The transmission fluid was flushed; however, the failure reoccurred. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
My car is barely at 78,000 miles and I use premium gas, and get oil changes regularly but my car all of a sudden started having a cylinder 4 misfire. Thought it was just my spark plugs having to be changed, but after changing my car was still running rough and still misfired. There is a manufacturing defect for this model where the turbo is too strong for the engine and factory head gasket. There are groves on the engine block for cooling but the turbo causes too much pressure and then air is creating too much space with the head gasket that can lead to it blowing. A blown head gasket repair is $1,500-$5,000 a repair or having to replace the whole motor if it gets too damages. There are many examples of this problem on tons of Honda Accord forums having the same problem around this same mileage. For the images the crease in the engine block is supposed to be for cooling but it part of the root of the problem and the head studs are not strong enough. . Read more...
The car loses power. It starts as a misfire on cylinder 2 (p0302 code) and the engine starts to shutdown (or goes into a safe mode with no power). The result is loss of speed which creates a safety hazard especially on highways. This has happened multiple times and the car has been in the shop 4 times for this issue. We have to pull off the road, turn the car off, sit for a minute and restart the car. It will then run ok. This has happened during acceleration and when just trying to keep speed on an incline. The dealership has not been able to identify an issue. The head gasket was replaced in April 2025 because they thought there was a pin hole that was causing oil to push into the cylinder. The misfire continued to happen. It was in the shop on October 2025 and they found nothing wrong with the spark plug, induction coils, gas feed. Therefore no understanding of the root cause.
All warning lights came on and I took the car to get checked out. Head gasket is damaged. Honda dealership has performed all service on vehicle. Gasket shows signs of premature deterioration. Very expensive repair for a know problem. This should be a recall item as there are numerous complaints with this model.
My car ran good up until July 29, 2023. There was a slight tornado and lots of rain when I parked the car it was fine hour later it began to stall and became undriveable. I called my insurance company progressive and called Honda of manchester and progressive had the car towed to Honda. They came back with the diagnosis of my headgaskit needs to be replaced my fuel injectors are miss firing and the piston rings needs to be replaced. I have 84,998 miles on the car and all of the maintenance records are up to date. Honda gave me a price of $4,800+ to have it fixed. Where I’m concerned at is how can these many problems happen at one time and I had know warning signs it just stopped running all of a sudden.
Engine loss power on and off and start going slow.
I have been dealing with the check engine light codes p0172c & p219c. Honda inspected my vehicle and said the problem is that my car is running too rich and the fuel injectors are bad but they say I cant really do anything because the fuel injectors are on backorder but really they are discontinued and they are unsure when theyll comeback. Im concerned for my safety and for others on the road because the p219c code is commonly associated with a leaky head gasket, and after speaking to several third party mechanics theyve all said they have been getting others with the same problem and the fuel injector isnt the actual problem, its the head gasket. Which means unfortunately my head gasket could blow any moment im driving my car which I need to do because I need to work. I travel at least 40 miles a day in houston traffic and im very worried about the potential damages I can cause should my head gasket blow while im driving in rush hour on the highway. I had no other kind of warning for this besides the check engine light and its been on for the past 4 weeks.
Car has approximately 51k miles, beginning to shake, not accelerating as it jerks while attempting to accelerate. Check engine displays but no warnings are available. Comes on and off.
There has been a series of constant issues with this model and each issue has been brought to a certified Honda dealership and was supposedly "fixed" engine code p0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfire),p2651 b rocker arm actuator system, p0087 fuel rail/system pressure, p0304,p0303 cylinder 3 and 4 misfire, engine temperature always above normal. These issues on multiple situations has put my safety and the safety of others at the highest risk. The motor vehicle due to these issues randomly would lose power to the point where stepping on the gas doesn't not accelerate the car, forcing me to stop in the middle of the highway having other vehicles stop suddenly and swerve around me with children in the vehicle. Another occasion going up a hill the car beings to stutter losing power resulting to the car shutting off, forcing me engage these reoccurring issues have also randomly caused the vehicle to not start. Multiple warning signs are lit across the dashboard. These occurrence are random with no warning sign the vehicle has been brought to the same dealership numerous times claiming each issue was fixed but within a few weeks more issues came. The last visit I was told as a "solution" I need to buy a new engine out of pocket, unacceptable for a Honda engine with 64000 miles on it. This oil dilution issue need a proper answer before someone is serious injured.
You lose power while driving than it stalls to about 20 mph emmission warning lights come on. After cool down the car will drive normal speed again for a short time before it repeats itself driving 20 mph with emission warning light coming on. It is a very hazardous condition and dealerships can’t figure anything out. We have spent 1600. 00 on fuel ejectors and car still doing the same thing. Next morning my husband drive it to work and was put in a hazardous condition.
Failing fuel injectors. Stalls vehicle in highway. May cause accident/collision.
The vehicle had a very violent shift (perhaps it was turbo lag related?) at low speed (under 20 miles per hour - typically, this happens in a parking lot or the like as you slowly drive away). This has been mentioned to the dealer, numerous times, who claims that the issue is not reproducible.
