I wasn’t driving in my batteries started to smoke and smell burning bad!!.
The infotainment touchscreen/display system in my 2022 Honda Accord hybrid is malfunctioning and experiences repeated false or “ghost/phantom” touches even though nobody is touching the screen. The system makes selections and changes functions on its own. The problem has gotten progressively worse over time, with a significant increase during the summer of 2026, particularly during hot weather. This creates a safety concern and significant driving distraction. When the phantom touches occur, I cannot reliably use the vehicle's hands-free phone system or map/navigation display. Because the map becomes unreliable, I sometimes have to look down at my phone rather than using the vehicle's display. The system has also initiated phone calls on its own. During phone calls, it will randomly activate the mute function without me touching the screen, causing me to look at the display and attempt to correct the problem while driving. These malfunctions interfere with hands-free features intended to reduce driver distraction. I showed a video of the malfunction to personnel at a Honda dealership. A service representative/manager told me that the dealership has seen this problem on multiple vehicles and has replaced screens and/or infotainment units without necessarily correcting the problem. He also indicated that the problem appears to occur more frequently or become worse with heat. My vehicle has not yet received a formal diagnostic inspection for this issue. There were no warning lamps or warning messages before the malfunction. The main symptom is the touchscreen registering inputs without being touched. The issue has become progressively worse, with a substantial increase during hot weather in the summer of 2026. During cooler conditions, it occurs less frequently. My vehicle and infotainment system are available for inspection upon request.
The touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord has a "ghost touch" defect. It registers touches I never made. While I'm driving, it changes settings, opens menus, makes phone calls, and changes the volume or audio source on its own. This has happened about over 10 times since last year this is a safety issue. The sudden changes distract me while I'm driving, and I can't reliably control the screen, which also shows the backup camera. I request that NHTSA investigate this defect.
Touch screen on console has lots of ghost-touches . The audio screen keeps switching radio on when it was in off position. It goes into settings or prompts for factory reset while driving, and without touching it. Also, android autoplay navigation keeps jumping around on the map, and giving excessive warnings for next turn, without touching it. This is an extreme driver distraction, esp. While trying to use navigation.
2022 Accord sport 2. 0t. Wireless apple carplay repeatedly fails with “unable to connect to iphone14. ” bluetooth handsfreelink remains connected and the vehicle sees the phone. I have completely deleted and re-paired both bluetooth and carplay; it works initially and then fails again after one or two ignition cycles. Re-pairing the phone is only a temporary fix. I'm also getting what I consider a safety hazard, where the infotainment system cuts out phone calls, switches to the radio or changes radio stations without anybody touching it, sometimes several times in a 10-15 second period.
I am writing because I am having an ongoing problem with my car stereo ghosting. I understand it to be the digitizer that Honda is fully aware of. When I called to speak with the service manager at the Honda dealership where I purchased my Honda Accord from in 2022, along with a Honda care warranty, I received a well rehearsed and scripted response about Honda being aware of the problem. I was told that the issues they are experiencing with ghosting is a software issue and not a hardware issue, and for that reason Honda is no longer replacing the touchscreen or making any attempt to resolve these issues. According to the service manager at hendrick Honda of charleston, gary hamilton, their dealership has been instructed to stop switching out the hardware, as switching out the hardware has only made the problem worse than it already is. When I bought the 100k Honda care extended warranty, with my vehicle in 2022, the key selling point that the sales manager used to sell me the warranty was all the things that could potentially go wrong with the vehicle’s electronics, including the infotainment system and car computer. This problem that I have been experiencing with my car audio is not a new problem and has gotten progressively worse as time goes on. Honda has been having this same problem with all 10th generation Honda Accords (2018-2022). I pay for a monthly/annual subscription to siriusxm radio, which I can no longer seem to enjoy because the infotainment system repeatedly kicks me out and goes completely haywire on me. I have a video that I took over a period of approximately one week and I am prepared to exercise my rights to getting this problem rectified and resolved if necessary. I am seeking a class action lawyer who may be willing to file a class action suit against american Honda motor corporation. In exercising due diligence, I’ve learned that the problems I am experiencing are the exact same kinds of problems that Honda care is designed to protect us from.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the infotainment screen unexpectedly started scrolling randomly. Additionally, there was a beeping sound during the failure. The failure was a recurring failure. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed the vehicle with an electrical failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had not authorized the dealer to do the repair, even though the vehicle was under warranty. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and was made aware of the failure and stated there was no remedy available. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The infotainment touchscreen in my 2022 Honda Accord is malfunctioning and repeatedly registering phantom or “ghost” touches without any input from me. While I am driving, the system unpredictably changes screens, changes radio stations and audio settings, interferes with phone/carplay functions, and makes selections on its own. The malfunction can happen suddenly and repeatedly while the vehicle is in motion. This is frightening and creates a serious driving distraction because the unexpected activity draws my attention away from the road and causes me to try to determine what the system is doing or correct unwanted selections. I am concerned that this unpredictable malfunction could contribute to a crash. There is no warning before it occurs, and I cannot reliably predict or control when it will happen. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I am seeking evaluation by an authorized Honda dealership. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this is a widespread safety-related defect because other owners have reported similar phantom-touch behavior.
Today was the 4th time my vehicle breaked on its own without any reason. The prior breaking, I kinda shrugged off thinking it maybe sensed another vehicle and was being cautious. However, today I was traveling north hwy 11 and there was nothing in front of me. My car abruptly and violetly slammed on its breaks for no reason at all. The violent deceleration caused my head and neck to whip and my neck is still very sore along with headache. There was no vehicles, pedestrians or obstacles in front of the car. There was a car coming in the opposite direction but it was approximately 200-300 feet away. This almost caused me to crash and was very upsetting. There was no warning whatsoever for this extreme break. I am grateful that the car traveling behind me did not hit me or run off the road. It was very violent and scary. I was traveling at 55 mph when this occurred. Today is Saturday and I was not able to reach anyone at the dealerships service department but I will be contacting them Monday morning. Please advise as to what my options are. Thank you.
The radio has a ghost touch, dealer does not see it as a problem. I hope government do.
This event occurred after a history of abs system issues as well as infotainment system issues since 10k miles. During morning commute at approximately 60 mph, all dash warnings began to chime associated with the touring features of the sedan. Tpms, collision avoidance, braking system, lane departure, etc. And electric power steering. The steering wheel clicked and immediately became difficult to steer. I found a safe pullover point and managed to return the car safely the short distance home.
All of the 7 warning light came up on my 2022 Accord 1. 5.
This is just a copy of what I sent to Honda. Navigation cannot even be used because of this problem. This does create a safety issue when I'm in areas I'm not familiar with and the fact that I cannot use the maps function and have to look at my phone for directions. Not to mention the constant distraction. Is Honda ever going to do anything about this trash? this is not okay and is a safety issue! this needs to be rectified. Im sick of it and the lack of care from Honda is astonishing. I have my own videos but these are links of issues that others are having. Mine is doing the exact same thing. Read the comments for the amount of people dealing with this. There is clearly a part issue here! [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. My 2022 Honda Accord sport screen / navigation is malfunctioning / failing and it is available for inspection. This is a major safety issue because unless the screen is in anti-theft mode (after a reset) which locks all functions, the screen will start glitching / ghost-tapping to where the screen nonstop beeps and flashes from feature to feature without any ability to stop it or even tap the screen to try to fix it. While driving this is a major safety issue that inherently draws the driver's attention away from the road to trying to fix the screen (which is obviously a safety problem while driving. This is a common issue among Honda Accords and I do not know how this has not been addressed yet. My car is currently in the dealership shop and they are saying because it in outside 3 years, it will cost over $1000 to fix for a safety issue that can't be worked around besides turning off the whole system. There were no problems with the car or the screen prior to this randomly starting to happen about a week ago on a hot summer's day. Please help with this, this is a huge safety issue and someone will get hurt someday because they aren't focusing on the road and instead trying to get the non-stop beeping fixed.
I had brought my Honda Accord into Honda of muskogee to have the touchscreen looked at for ghost touching while the car was still under warranty. On the very first visit, the morning I brought it in the temperature was low and it was nice outside and they could not reproduce the issue. They also did not complete the oil change properly on my car, nor rotated the tires, they also mangled the nuts that hold the positive battery post down. This was on a brand new car when it happened. Fast forward to 2026, my manufacturer's warranty is expired. I have contacted Honda corporate probably 3 times to see if they would honor the warranty on my factory unmodified radio that came with the car. I advised them I wanted any other dealership that is certified to do the work, besides muskogee. That location has a vendetta against me now because I am reporting them for stealing people's money and not doing the work their customers paid for. Their customers are asking for work that they pretend they have no idea about. Problem: the digitizer is failing due to bad parts/delamination of some sort, it causes frequent ghost touching which can disrupt important safety information on the screen such as navigation data on a fast highway. It also ghost touches and turns off the hvac system so the microphone can hear you, in the summertime this is incredibly dangerous as you cannot bypass it to ensure you stay cool in a heat wave if the radio keeps doing this. I am afraid this distraction is either going to cause myself, or anyone else with a 2022 Honda Accord that - for whatever reason they have not issued a manufacturers' recall for defective digitizers. This radio has done this practically the entire time I have owned the car, I am so upset with it.
Ghost touch/tapping on my radio display. Screen is malfunctioning as if someone is tapping the screen when no one is touching it.
Different codes started blanking after I got gas June 11, 2026. Soon as I cranked up it started flashing warnings. Emission system, brake system, sport mode doesn’t work, cruise control doesn’t work, check engine light on, tire pressure light on. I took it to midlands Honda on June 15, 2026. They told me turbocharger and need spark plugs based off mileage. I took it to oreily, they say it only scan the engine light code which is turbocharger. Started a claim with Honda support and they denied me based off my mileage for goodwill credit. Said they contacted dealership and it’s not a manufacturer issue so I have to fix it out of pocket. Warranty expired. They kept calling me weekly until August 4, 2026 (when they told me they denied me). On August 12, 2026 my trunk won’t open. I contacted them back and they told me I have to pay for the diagnostic again (almost 200. 00) since it’s a separate issue. That’s crazy. It’s a whole group on social media where everybody having the same issue. Even some fixed the turbo and lights on dashboard still on. My turbo charger code can’t be the reason my trunk won’t open.
Erratic uncontrolled phantom touches on the primary console screen create severe driver distraction, alter settings whuke driving, and that multiple dealer replacements (screen + head unit) failed to remedy the issue under warranty.
While driving at 50 mph, the infotainment touchscreen began experiencing severe ghost touches, where the screen acts as if it is being repeatedly tapped by itself. The system rapidly cycled through menus on its own, making random phone calls via bluetooth and changing the navigation map coordinates while I was in motion. This created a massive visual and mental distraction as I try to mute or stop the erratic behavior. Also when putting the vehicle in reverse, the phantom touches freeze the screen, blocking the backup camera feed entirely. The problem is worse on hot days. The dealer stated it is a known hardware delamination issue but I was told Honda corporate told them not to replace it as the issue will re-occur do to their hardware malfunctioning. This is an extreme safety hazard and a distraction while driving. I am submitting this complaint to get Honda to resolve this issue.
The screen is now severely ghost-touching, overriding navigation, and falsely reporting accidents while I drive. This is a severe distraction and a safety hazard.
My touchscreen is experiencing "ghost touch" per the dealership. They explained it as it refers to an issue where the infotainment screen registers random taps or clicks on its own. It is highly distracting as the screen beeps consistently and blinks randomly. I have 3 young drivers and see this as a big distraction. The dealership said Honda recommended not replacing it as they are fully aware of it and the fix doesn't fix it. It's definitely not a response you want to hear while you're still paying on the car and have young drivers. I fortunately have an extended warranty and they are willing to replace it but I'm concerned that the replacement will experience the same, that is why I am filing a complaint here. I called multiple Honda dealerships and they are aware of the problem but also said Honda is advising not to replace. I have seen many complaints where Honda owners had to pay for the replacement out of pocket and that's disappointing. It sure does seem like a manufacture error and hope Honda does the right thing. I have been a Honda owner for over 30 years but with my latest purchase and experience, I'm definitely rethinking my next purchase.
This vehicle is experiencing an aggressive, heat-accelerated hardware degradation of the central capacitive screen assembly commonly identified as ghost glitching, culminating in a total crash of the primary graphic interface and touch controller hardware. While your customer service infrastructure routinely classifies display anomalies as low-priority convenience or entertainment glitches, an objective systems analysis reveals that Honda has centralized critical safety telemetry, emergency communications, and vehicle calibration gateways into a single, unbacked hardware node. Consequently, the catastrophic failure of this infotainment module directly compromises the operational safety of this vehicle, presenting an immediate, unpredictable hazard not only to myself but to the general driving public sharing the roadway. The systematic failure modes of this defect are detailed as follows: 1 multi-module network failure and primary gauge cluster blindness the failure of the central display audio unit is not isolated to an entertainment screen. It acts as a network parasite that actively destabilizes the vehicle's primary driver information interface dii on the steering wheel instrument cluster. Toggling the steering wheel controls to view audio or system telemetry on the primary driver's dash gauge results in an immediate, total blackout of the left digital dashboard display. Because the central infotainment unit's microprocessor is frozen, degraded, or locked up, it fails to respond to high-priority internal controller area network can bus data requests from the instrument cluster. This creates a severe data bottleneck that blinds the operator to system telemetry directly behind the steering wheel while traveling at highway speeds. Furthermore, while the vehicle's secondary hardwired communication circuit allows background audio streaming and steering wheel track-skipping overrides to function, the manual physical volume controls, dashboard knob,.
The touch screen for the radio is having ghost tapping and it is switching from the radio to bluetooth to turning on and off by itself.
My display screen (infotainment) that has almost all the setting to my car on it has been glitching every single time I drive my car. It has what is being described as "ghost touch". It will just flick back and forth between all different settings to my car, turn on and off the radio and go between stations, set destinations on my maps, submitting incidents on my maps, calling my contacts, requesting voice commands which lowers the fan speed on my ac and heat when doing so and numerous other settings including how my car locks itself, rear camera setting, audio settings, it is going through everything while driving and while stationary. I believe it is a major hazard, it as startled me so many time by just randomly blasting a radio station while im driving, messing with my navigation on maps while driving, I have been distracted so many times when I should have been focused on the road but instead I am trying to stop it from changing settings, calling people, trying to cancel routes its setting on my maps and ect. The problem is a "known issue" According to the Honda dealership I bought it from and took in to look at for repair. Also I quick google search of "2022 Honda Accord sport screen glitching" brings up tons of other people dealing with this same issue and there is apparently no fix for it. Honda said you can buy a new screen but it may still do it since there is no official fix for this. It drives me crazy to even drive this car and I commute to work over a hour and a half on highways with it freaking out the whole way most of the time.
This car has well known issues with the infotainment system probably since it came out and nothing has been fixed. There are constant ghost touches/glitching, especially when it gets hotter outside. Now after owning it for a year, apple carplay freaks out. I’ll be listening to music and then suddenly the screen goes black. The buttons still work on the blacked out screen but nothing will pop back up. I had my dealership take a look and this is an ongoing issue with Honda. I’ve seen car forums talk about the same thing for years and nothing is being resolved permanently. This can be a distraction safety hazard. My other issue is the lane keep assist. It doesn’t detect lanes very well, especially if it’s faded or has sealed cracks. I could be driving the freeway speed limit and then the car suddenly brakes hard. I’m lucky no one was directly behind me when these incidents have happened or else I would’ve been rear-ended. Safety hazard for both complaints.
My car infotainment system keeps on having a "ghost touch" and it keeps on being a distraction when im using the gps and it is a hazard being on the road especially in [xxx] where drivers are reckless. Other people have been having same issue, at least 80% that I have seen in person and online. This should be on a recall or at least have Honda figure out the issue since theyre selling there cars over 30k+ it should st least be working for a good while and not a hazard on the road. See attached document for complaint.
Both my road departure mitigation and collision mitigation braking system both randomly turn off and show “setting incomplete” when I attempt to put them from off to on. After 5-7 days of normal driving both systems will turn back on and thereafter work for 5-7 days before turning off once again. I have not been involved in any accidents. I’m afraid off unprovoked braking from these electrical safety support systems not working correctly causing possible serious injury to me and others and also causing me emotional mental anxiety while driving due to documentation of these issues in my specific Honda causing possible accidents due to the faulty safety support systems I’m experiencing.
My 2022 Honda Accord has an ongoing issue with the infotainment touchscreen making selections on its own without being touched, commonly referred to as “ghost touch. ” the screen randomly presses buttons, changes menus, changes audio/settings, and interferes with apple carplay and normal touchscreen operation. The issue occurs repeatedly and can be very distracting while driving because the screen operates on its own and requires attention to correct or stop it. Restarting the system does not permanently resolve the problem. I am reporting this because it creates a driver-distraction/safety concern and I would like the issue documented and investigated.
The touchscreen something’s fails to work. It freezes and it doesn’t allow me to push on anything. If I have it under carplay and I’m gps mode to get directions to where I’m going too and then it begins to have glitches . It switches back and forth from am/fm radio then to pandora then back to am/fm non stop. The screen randomly starts clicking on its own— I tried factory reset and it hasn’t resolved my issue. It often a happens mostly when the screen is hot but it’s done it too when the screen is in normal temperature .
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there were persistent failures with the infotainment system. The contact stated that occasionally the screen flickered abnormally, the navigation system zoomed in and out unexpectedly, unintended phone calls were made while driving, and the screen occasionally became frozen or was unresponsive to touch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment head unit was replaced under warranty; however, the issues persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the dealer and the manufacturer determined that a software update was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not yet developed a fix for the failure. A case was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
Subject: safety concern – infotainment screen malfunction (2022 Honda Accord) I am reporting a safety-related issue with my 2022 Honda Accord involving the infotainment display system. The screen is experiencing a “ghost touch” malfunction, where inputs occur without any physical interaction. This causes the system to randomly change settings, switch screens, activate functions, and interfere with navigation and audio controls while driving. This issue creates a significant safety concern because distracts attention away from the road while attempting to correct the system interferes with navigation and vehicle settings causes unpredictable behavior of in-dash controls the problem persists even after restarting the vehicle and has not been resolved through basic troubleshooting. [include this if applicable: the issue has continued after a factory reset and/or prior repair attempt. ] due to the ongoing and unpredictable nature of this malfunction, I believe this defect poses a risk to safe vehicle operation. I am requesting: a full diagnostic and documented repair attempt consideration for warranty coverage or goodwill repair escalation of this issue as a potential safety defect please provide documentation of this concern and any findings, as I may also be submitting this issue to the national highway traffic safety administration for further review. Vehicle details: year/make/model: 2022 Honda Accord mileage: 66000 I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and request a resolution as soon as possible. Sincerely, alethea michael.
I’ve had problems with my steering wheel ,I’ve taken many times to alignment n it always some how loses alignment but also my gears feel weird when I drive like it pulls a bit delayed and my dash is saying electrical steering problem ,n my car don’t be trying to turn on recently it doesn’t charge I guess.
Hello, I am having issues with the infotainment system on my Accord. It is suffering from the ghost touch issue. When this happens the car constantly makes an alert beep and then randomly starts going through the menus on the system. Here are a few of the issues that can result. Navigation changes or setting change, radio can change or even turn on or off or change inputs, the cars setting can change, it can start calls to any of your contacts including emergency #s. The only way to stop this from happening is to turn off the screen. However if the radio is on, you can not turn it off. This results in the driver constantly having to divert their attention to the radio /infotainment system from the road. It is extremely distracting and very unsafe. This is a known issue and there is no active recall. As far as I can tell this has not been fixed in replacements, simply a new version of the same radio is put into the car. I would expect that this has or will create accidents if is nor recalled. As these cars age, this will get worse for all of them. I did reach out to Honda and they informed me there is no recall. Please help keep people on the road safe!.
Infotainmeny system receives multiple fals touches and switches to other screens and functions with no direct input from me the driver. This is very distracting and also dangerous as the issue also interfears with navigation, it will turn is off and switch destinations without any input. This issue has occured since I have had the car in 2022, it only keeps getting worse. This is a very distracting issue to have, it is unsafe and Honda needs to come up with a solution, I have seen this reported by hundreds of people online, this tells me that there are likely thousands of cars out there doing the same, but the people do not know how to report it.
