Service Brakes problem #1

I took my car in because the electric parking brake warning appeared while driving. I also looked it up and saw many others were having this issue. So basically Honda charged me for something that’s an ongoing Honda issue and passed it off as a glitch and cleared the codes. Clearly Honda needs to recall the 2023 Accord because this isn’t safe and clearing the code isn’t taking care of the problem. Furthermore charging me for diagnosing this is completely wrong knowing this is not a problem only I am having. Honda needs a recall before there are serious accidents.

Service Brakes problem #2

During transit, the dash displayed several errors and then finally stated that there was a "brake system problem, brake performance my be reduced. See your dealer. " the car lost power and I had to find a parking lot to exit the street to. After turning the car off and back on the car drove normal but with the break system error still on the dash console. After parking the car for a while at home, I restarted the car and the error was no longer displayed and everything seemed normal again.

Service Brakes problem #3

I was driving on the freeway doing about 65 to 70 mph and all of a sudden on the dashboard a large orange brake light came on and the vehicle hit the brakes automatically almost causing an accident. I took it to the dealership and all they did was reset some computer board but said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. If they couldn’t find anything wrong with the vehicle then why reset the computer board.

Service Brakes problem #4

This is a second formal supplemental complaint. Vann york Honda sold this car as new, but a Honda America provided carfax proved it was a prior personal use vehicle. The car has catastrophic phantom braking, causing a physical friction rash on my skin. Multiple witnesses are now afraid to ride in the car. The vehicle has suspension failures documented by irregular tire readings. Despite an active federal recall, flow Honda refused mandated repairs. During a prior headliner repair, flow Honda returned the car with a collapsed headliner and a maintenance minder a127 code. The oil life dropped from 45% to 5% without added mileage, yet I was told to drive it. Weatherstripping has been replaced. Recall work for seatbelt (which came apart) and fire risk in the engine. Manager chris moore falsely claimed a brake warning was merely a remote start issue. He has also shows a lack of understanding of the nc lemon laws. I have recorded complaints from well under 24,000 miles. Flow Honda held the car for four months, then claimed they did not know it was there. They sent a text acknowledging the recall but failed to perform it, trying to ship the car back to me to hide its 120-day neglect. The car has lot rot, tire rot, and an open battery exposed since [xxx]. My insurance company ignored warnings of retaliation and forced the car back to flow Honda. They recorded a medical diagnosis of a panic attack on my paperwork without medical expertise and falsely claimed I requested a collision shop despite no collision occurring. This matter has reached my state representatives and the governor. As a [xxx], this tax-exempt vehicle is a medical necessity. I am being denied federal safety repairs and discriminated against based on my sex, gender, and [xxx]. My first report to nshta was done March 2025. Ada accommodation: I require all communications to be in writing (email/mail) only. No phone calls. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Service Brakes problem #5

While coming to a stop on a slight incline, the brakes failed to stop the car, brakes were applied and initially slowed the car but when the slight incline was reached the brakes would not engage and the idle of the car move it forward and still the brakes would not engage. I had to put the car into neutral then park to stop. After the incident the brakes seemed to work fine. Nonetheless this is a major issue. There were no warning lights or any indication that something was malfunctioning. There were no indications after the incident either that anything malfunctioned. I will be taking the car to the dealer ASAP to have checked. We lightly tapped a truck that was in front of us on the slight incline - no obvious damage to either vehicle ( need to verify in daylight) - no injuries to anyone in the incident. If we were traveling faster there could have been serious injury or if there was a pedestrian there could have been serious injury.

Service Brakes problem #6

While driving, my 2023 Honda Accord hybrid suddenly experienced a multi-system failure affecting: road departure mitigation system tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) vehicle stability assist (vsa) hill start assist electric power steering system brake system (“brake performance may be reduced”) all warnings appeared within seconds. The vehicle is available for inspection, and the incident is documented with multiple photographs. In addition to the system failures, the vehicle unexpectedly began to lose power while I was driving, causing it to slow down rapidly in active traffic. This created an extremely hazardous situation, including: risk of being rear-ended since my vehicle slowed without warning reduced steering assist reduced braking performance loss of stability control inability to accelerate out of the way this combination could easily have caused a serious collision. I later learned that there is an active recall related to the systems that failed on my vehicle. However: I never received any communication from Honda, no letter, no email, no notice of any kind. I am extremely unhappy and frustrated about this. Had Honda informed me of the recall: I would have scheduled service immediately I would not have driven the car under normal conditions I would not have been exposed to this dangerous situation on the road the absence of recall notification directly contributed to my being put in a potentially life-threatening situation. A recall notification exists for a reason which is to prevent exactly the type of failure and danger that I experienced. Honda’s failure to notify me removed my ability to take preventative action. The issue has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a Honda dealer. I will be taking the vehicle in for inspection as soon as possible. No inspections have been conducted yet, but I have full photographic documentation from the moment the incident occurred. No prior warning lights, symptoms, or error messages occurred.

Service Brakes problem #7

While I was driving down the road with my foot on the gas pedal, without any notice whatsoever, my brakes began to jitter/shake and my steering wheel got stuck/tight and would not move. At this point, my car immediately makes a complete stop in the middle of the road and warning lamps appear such as; brake system problem, engine light, etc. I immediately turned on my hazard lights so cars behind me would go around me. Luckily, I was close to a curb and tugged on my stiff steering wheel and managed to park my car alongside the curb on the street. I called the Honda dealership and they said my car was unsafe to drive and needed to be repaired. I immediately took my car to the Honda dealership to get repaired. This malfunction could have caused an accident putting myself and others safety at risk as my car made an immediate complete stop on it's own and my steering wheel got stiff/hard to move making it hard to steer. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Service Brakes problem #8

Left a store on a frontage rd, drove about 1/2 mile , car just breaking out of no where, stoped in the middle of the road, the dash stated breaking malfunction see dealer immidentaly car died, I restatred it , the dash still stated the same , the picture of the car had back lights flashing and the red break sign was on , took it to the nearest dealer and when they started it the warning system had erased. They inspected it, told me that they could not find anything wrong. I just leased it 2wks ago and only have driven it 3 times , not even a hundred miles and this happens. There were no warning signs of any kind . If I would have been approaching the freeway I could have been killed.

Service Brakes problem #9

Driving the vehicle at highway speeds the large orange “brake” warning illuminates and flashes, and the brake activates. This has happened approximately 5-6 times since I have owned the car. This started within 2 months of purchasing the vehicle. The dealer has tried replacing the front camera and I have changed the battery. None of this has fixed the issue. According to my innova 5610 code reader, there are 32 pending codes for the electric brake booster, including bring temperature too high, brake booster driver, circuit, overheat, brake pedal stroke sensor component, internal failure, brake pedal stroke sensor one circuit short to ground, brake pedal stroke sensor one circuit short to battery or open, brake pedal stroke sensor two circuit, short to ground, brake pedal stroke sensor two circuit short to battery or open, sensor voltage, a short circuit to ground, driver seatbelt sensor, vehicle, communication bus a performance, vehicle communication bus c performance, lost communication with the ecm/pcm a, f – can malfunction pcm – tcm, can communication failure with driving support system control unit, lost communication with vehicle, dynamics, control, module, lost communication with park brake control module, can reception error srs, can malfunction ecm/pcm gauge control, module, invalid data received – signal has too many transitions/events, invalid data received from transmission, control, module – event information, invalid data received from vehicle dynamic control module event information, electric parking brake system malfunction control module – internal electronic failure, battery voltage circuit voltage below threshold, battery circuit voltage above threshold, and control module input power a circuit open. After I changed the battery and took the vehicle to the dealer for recalibration they mentioned the pending items, but did not do anything about them or record them on their paperwork.

Service Brakes problem #10

Lost all power and the warning light came on concerning brake system failure. The car came to a complete stop and would not accellerate, so had to shut down the system and restart in the middle of the road and luckily was able to drive home with only a brake light illuminated. There is definitely something wrong with the electrical braking system.

Service Brakes problem #11

I was driving on the highway yesterday when all of a sudden several errors flashed on my dashboard, and my gas pedal stopped working. When I pulled over, I noticed an error code that read: "brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced". Not only did I lose all acceleration control, but the error codes tell me there are brake issues. After researching online it seems like many others have experienced this issue and some people found the issue was caused by a faulty ignition control module.

Service Brakes problem #12

Driving routine commute of 20 miles at highway speeds on a clear weekday. The vehicle experienced all warning lights on dash and immediately went into limp mode. No power applied to the wheels when pressing the power pedal. Brought vehicle to the side of the road and powered off. Waited 30 secs to a minute and pressed power and the only remaining error of "brake system problem" stayed up on the driver display. Dropped vehicle off at the dealer, 3 miles from my job, to have them evaluate. After half a day the dealer stated "no problem found", "intermittent error". Now there is a known problem with late Honda vehicles with water intrusion into the tail lights and that in turn causes a short in the braking system. I have noticed condensation in the tail light (drivers side) but only a very small amount. Dealer stated they checked both tail lights and found no cracks or condensation. In my opinion my car falls into this category but dealer would not agree to a replacement assembly unless they saw condensation in the tail lamp unit.

Service Brakes problem #13

While driving 2023 Honda Accord at normal speed on rural road, the vehicle began to brake on it's own and driver could not over-ride this. Alarms for multiple failures showed on the dashboard. Car was stopped and would not move. Car was turned off then restarted. Dashboard alarms went away, only small information light for brake malfunction remained. Driver began to drive and tested brakes, all acted normally. Car was brought to Honda dealership. Dealership investigated and consulted with Honda engineers. They could not find a cause of the error, so nothing was fixed on the vehicle. Honda charged owner $150 to tell them nothing was wrong, even though car had taken control of brakes and stopped itself.

Service Brakes problem #14

I was driving approximately 60 mph on a local highway when my the check engine light came on. The dashboard then started flashing warning messages for multiple error messages stating that many features were failing such as power steering, acceleration, brakes, lane assist, stability assist, and more. My car then lost power and decelerated, coming to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. I was unable accelerate or steer my vehicle to the side of the road. No one hit me but this could have easily caused an accident where either myself or others were hurt. I turned the car off and when I restarted it, my dashboard message stated that I had a brake system problem and that I should see my dealer. I was able to drive to the dealer where they ran a diagnostic and could not replicate the problem. They only stated it was a loss of communication in the computer but that "it would probably not happen again. " they did nothing to identify what could have caused the loss in communication and said if it happened again, to bring the car back. I plan to take it to a certified mechanic to inspect the vehicle but I feel very unsafe driving a car that may lose power.

Service Brakes problem #15

The car suddenly lost all acceleration, the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree (5 or six lights came on. Check engine, brake problem, battery, low tire sensor ect). Once stop I could not accelerate. I had to turn the car on and off twice to go anywhere. Once back on the brake system light stayed on stating there was a problem with the electronic braking system. If I didn't put my flashers on immediately I would have been rear ended by a truck that slammed it's brakes on behind me.

Service Brakes problem #16

Vehicle has lost power twice: dashboard signals break issue - see dealer. Car totally loses power while driving. Both instances occurred under 40 mph. Must find a safe place to stop to park and restart car. Cause is unknown. Honda dealer saw car after 1st incident and could find nothing. Car will again be looked at by Honda dealer. My safety and others' could easily have been put at risk, especially if this happened at a high speed during heavy traffic.

Service Brakes problem #17

The vehicle unexpectedly stalled - lost power while driving and the brake system warning light came on. There were no warning lights, messages or other issues with the vehicle prior to this failure. Was fortunate that the car coasted to a stop on the side of a busy road with no traffic following behind. The vehicle was then towed to a Honda dealership for inspection. Was advised by the service department that there was a software update - unbeknown to us. The error code was cleared and the service department completed the pcm update per service bulletin 25-017.

Service Brakes problem #18

The yellow brake system light illuminates on my dash. . I took my car to the dealership immediately after the brake system notification illuminated and the dealer said they don't know how or why. I have a photo of the illuminated yellow light. My electronic brake doesn't engage correctly when my car is parked I have video of the electronic brake operating incorrectly. When I speak to the dealership they state that the red brake light did activate incorrectly. My car also slammed the brakes when there was nothing in front of me, causing the seatbelt to pull my neck violently. I was at risk of being rear ended. I've reported this to Honda America multiple times. The last incident caused so much anxiety and panic that I will not drive this car. I do not and will not continue to drive a car with brake issues. Please investigate. My car has been to the dealership nine times in one year and parked since 2/7/25.

Service Brakes problem #19

Honda Accord 2023 touring 11600 miles driven when I was driving, "break system probem please contact the dealer" appears on the screen. The car acceleration stops, engine light and all the other lights show up. Even when I accelerate, the car doesn't move. I turned off the car, restarted it and then did it twice then it started working again. Car acceleration reduces even when I driving.

Service Brakes problem #20

While driving the vehicle at 60 mph the vehicle powered off and displayed multiple warning lights. After pulling over and making a complete stop I restarted the vehicle and a warning message displayed "brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. " the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection.

Service Brakes problem #21

I was traveling down road clear day at 50 miles an hour and the car slowed down to 20 miles an hour immediately in seconds like the automatic breaks were applied car would not accelerate for 3/4 of a mile the card just kept slowing down. Dash was blinking ebs then transmission malfunction light came on. I was able to pull off road (very dangerous) road was crowded. And I had to go over 2 lanes I shut car off when I restarted I dash said warning brake system problem brake performance may be reduced see your dealer. At this time all systems seemed to be operating ok I was able to accelerate. I drove home shut car off started 1 hour later no warring light everything normal. I will bring to dealer this week will see what they say. This was very dangerous the car went from 50 to 20 in a matter of seconds, and I had very little control of car I am afraid to have my wife dive the car.

Service Brakes problem #22

See video here: [xxx] description: driving at a slow speed, all of a sudden my car went dead. Brakes went out, gas didn't work, and the car went through a series of errors essentially telling me nothing on the car worked. For around 30 seconds to a minute the car was non-responsive. Then eventually power came back and I got an error message telling me to take the car in because of a brake malfunction. This brake message was on the dash until I parked the car again, then there was no error and the car started up and behaved normally. This has happened twice, once in a parking lot, once in a parking garage. Luckily neither time I was headed towards another car, as I would have crashed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Service Brakes problem #23

While driving the vehicle on a very busy highway, it completely stalled and several warning lights appeared: "brake system problem see dealer, check engine light, tpms, etc. I have attached a picture of the warning. Another vehicle behind me slammed on his brakes but ended up bumping my back bumper (no visible damage). Thankfully the driver was alert and was able to slam on his brakes to avoid a disaster on highway 270 (near washington, DC). I was able to restart the vehicle after a few minutes, the warning lights remained on, and I was able to drive 8 miles to the dealership. According to the work order: "the technician pulled multiple codes, followed the diagnostic tree, cleared codes. " I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and have seen other complaints regarding the same issue on a Honda website. Please research and assist as best you can.

Service Brakes problem #24

When driving my 2023 Honda Accord hybrid sedan, several warning lights came on, including the brakes and tire pressure. Then the accelerator didn’t work well. I pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the car. A message saying there was a problem with the braking system appeared. It also said braking performance could be reduced.

Service Brakes problem #25

Car slammed on the brakes with no apparent obstruction in the path of the vehicle. Braking caused hand injury from the grip of the steering wheel. Nearly caused rear-end collusion with vehicle follow behind us.

Service Brakes problem #26

Car stopped/hit the brakes on its own without anything in front of it. The collision detection warning went off while traveling at 25 mph, hit the brakes and stopped the car. I have a dashcam and can provide video proof of it.

Service Brakes problem #27

All of a sudden, the accelerator pedal stopped working --- all I really know is that the car wouldn't accelerate, regardless of how much I pressed on the pedal, and the car had to roll to a stop. A bunch of warning lights came on about the brakes malfunctioning, but I don't remember if the brakes actually stopped working (I was more focused on the fact that I couldn't accelerate --- this happened right as I was starting to move after a red light turned green). Thankfully this happened when I was going slowly in a residential area --- if I had been on the freeway and unable to get over to the shoulder before the car came to a halt, this could have caused a serious/fatal accident (or if the brakes really had stopped working, even in a residential area I could have crashed into something/someone). The car remained unresponsive until I turned the whole thing off and on again, at which point it started working like normal (although still with the warnings). I took the car to my dealership and they ran diagnostics, but they couldn't find anything and couldn't reproduce the problem when they drove it around, so they just shrugged and said I should "keep an eye on it and see if it happens again". So unfortunately I don't know what caused the problem or what to inspect (but I'm certainly not going to keep driving the car and risk this happening again).

Service Brakes problem #28

To whom it may concern, I am submitting this complaint to report a serious vehicle safety issue involving a Honda vehicle that was under a lease agreement. From the start of the lease, the vehicle suffered from repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensors. These issues were reported, and the vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership. Despite these efforts, the problem was never resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle had an active safety recall that was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle had been serviced at the dealership on several occasions. This failure to inform me of a recall represents a significant safety concern. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. I firmly believe that the unresolved sensor failures and the lack of recall disclosure played a role in this incident. I am submitting this report so that NHTSA may investigate this matter and determine whether there is a broader safety issue affecting other vehicles. Thank you for your attention. Sincerely, ramon duany.

Service Brakes problem #29

“brake system problem” was shown on the dashboard along with tire pressure problems and other messages. After the message, I couldn’t accelerate nor brake my vehicle. It happens randomly for 3 times and they fixed it for 2 times. The second fix last 5 months before I have this issue again in October 2024.

Service Brakes problem #30

I was pulling out of a parking lot when suddenly the car reported a problem with the braking system along with a number of other warnings. I lost all acceleration as I entered an intersection. I power cycled the car a couple of times before it returned to normal, and I was able to continue driving.

Service Brakes problem #31

When driving home the car emergency braked with no cars, debris, or anything else in the road. Car breaked to a full stop from 40mph causing serious whiplash and almost causing an accident.

Service Brakes problem #32

Today I was driving my 2023 Honda Accord touring hybrid with 8k miles on it. Out of the blue, a bunch of warning messages / lights came on ("brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. "; also tire warning symbol). Car automatically decelerated (wouldn't accelerate). This would have been very dangerous happening on a freeway.

Service Brakes problem #33

The car stalled suddenly with hand brake pulled automatically while driving at a slow speed at a parking lot. The information center shows brake indicator flashing in red with description statements that include the brake might have reduced power and how to restart the car. Was able to start the car after releasing the hand brake and drive without issue. Sent the car to dealer’s service department but they couldn’t recreate the symptom and was told there is no recall for this issue.

Service Brakes problem #34

I will be driving down the road and my vehicle will pop up with the brake message and slam by brakes. It does it randomly. It has put my safety in risk multiple times. It has done this on the interstate and thankfully there was no one behind me. I was going 80mph and it dropped me to 30mph in less then 5 seconds. The issue has not been reproduced since it does it randomly. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership many many times. There were no warning symptoms or anything. It just does it very randomly. I had an investigation open with Honda and all they said to do was take it back to the dealership. This car is an issue to public safety. I could very well be in front of someone one day who is not paying attention and there could be a very bad issue. There has been so many times these issues have occurred.

Service Brakes problem #35

Driving at low speeds in somerville MA on 6/18/2024. 1 yr old car with about $6k miles. It was a hot day. Front display lit up with warning about brakes being degraded and take to dealer. It also showed tire warnings, and traction control warnings. I believe acceleration was greatly reduced. Pulled over. Turned car off and on, and most of the errors cleared, except a brake warning. I drove 5 minutes home. Power cycled again, and the brake warning disappeared. I put a code reader on it, and it showed numerous communications issues. Problem did not repeat. I took to dealer. They confirmed the codes, and communicated with Honda corporate. Honda confirmed they were aware of the problem, but they do not have a solution yet. Google search showed that it is an isolated problem. If it had happened at highway speeds, it could have resulted in a major accident attaching code report to show communications errors.

Service Brakes problem #36

While driving the vehicle, it showed all the abs braking error and cycled through a few other errors and the car basically shut down. Car acceleration slows to a stop, and pressing the accelerator is useless. Had to cycle the power twice before all cleared and the car was drivable.

Service Brakes problem #37

My 2023 car has 850 miles on it I was at a stop waiting for a train to pass when all warning dashboard lights came on. The brake would not work and the gas would not work. I turned the car off and restarted it and most lights went off except for the brake warning. I was able to turn around and take car to dealership. They said it was a faulty 12 volt battery and replaced it. I haven't had issues since but also haven't driven much. I have read of other Honda owners having the similar issue.

Service Brakes problem #38

Power steering failure. It is available for inspection upon request. After taking a right turn, the steering got stuck and did not come back as expected. This caused car crashing into the curb on the road, severely damaging front right front rim and tire. The steering alignments after the crash has been impacted - steering has to be tilted to make the car go straight. There are multiple warnings signs that include brake system warning, vehicle stability assist system problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control system problem, collision mitigation braking system problem I have video of all the warnings that I see. The warnings disappeared for sometime and then came back. I am taking the car to a Honda dealership for inspection and repair tomorrow.

Service Brakes problem #39

Summary: vehicle shutdown while my wife was driving 25 mph, lost all engine propulsion and brakes failed. Thankfully, she was driving in community/residential street and could pull over safely, rolling to a stop in a side lot. If she were at higher speeds or on a freeway, my wife and others could have been seriously injured. Details: alerts for the brakes system "brakes system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer" and one involving tire pressure (cannot recall the exact message) came on at 35 mph. She then came to a stop at a stop sign normally about 30-60 seconds later, then proceeded to accelerate again, continuing on her short route. At 25 mph, the instrument cluster, all screens/electronics went black/off, propulsion stopped and brakes failed. She was able to steer the vehicle to a side lot as it rolled to a stop. After 20 minutes of attempts to restart the car, it finally restarted as if nothing happened. Further more, in between attempts to restart the car, the infotainment screen would randomly turn on, despite not having turned on the car at that time. Subsequently drove to dealer for inspection and awaiting response. Vehicle has had no other problems, only 5500 miles, just under 1 year old.

Service Brakes problem #40

While traveling at approximately 72 mph along the nys thruway at approximately 6pm on februay 17, 2024 the vehicle's emergency braking system activated. There were no vehicles or obstuctions present at the time. The cruise control system was engaged at the time of the incident. The vehicle slowed immediately to approximately 59 mph. The dashboard flashed a yellow light indicating to the driver to immediately brake. This happened very quickly and the vehicle then resumed normal speed. At the time of the incident the vehicle was approaching an underpass that was several hundred feet ahead of the vehicle at the time. There has been no incidents prior to this one. I believe our safety was put at risk, as the sudden slowing of the vehicle could have caused a rear end collision. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance agencies.

Service Brakes problem #41

2-16-2024 my wife was driving this hybrid vehicle when it suddenly lost power in middle of road about a city block from starting location. There were no reasons for any automatic hazard overrides to become active. Dashboard displays stayed on but there was no accelerator response, and, importantly, there was an immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. Vehicle was traveling uphill and the emergency brakes had to be applied to arrest backward motion after coming to a stop. Judging by rate of slowdown, regenerative braking may also have been active. Rapidly following this, several diagnostic/warning messages (re brakes, steering, etc) started flashing in succession and then the message "see your dealer. " about 10 minutes after this incident, my wife made one attempt to restart the car after turning the car off and then on. The response was a repeat of the flashing messages. I arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after this and the car restarted in a normal fashion. So, unfortunately, this is an intermittent, difficult-to-firmly-diagnose problem. Nevertheless, in view of the severe safety issues associated with this failure, we had the car towed to a Honda dealer. They found several items in the car's diagnostic system and, in consultation with Honda engineers, performed a software update for the icm (ignition control module?) which, we were told, would address this problem, since other similar complaints had apparently been registered. The huge safety issue that this failure represents (loss of power along with steering assistance and braking assistance plus possibly more rapid deceleration) cannot be overestimated. We will be risking our lives to believe that the software fix truly addresses this problem. To believe that a software update is a sure fix is to believe that Honda knows the exact reason for this failure, and if they do, it is absurd that a software recall has not been issued. Please follow up on this matter with Honda. Thank you.

Service Brakes problem #42

The contact owns a 2023 Honda acord. The contact stated that while driving on two occasions at 45 mph, six unknown warning lights plus the brake system warning light illuminated. The vehicle began to lose motive power and stalled. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,670.

Service Brakes problem #43

While running car warning light came on and vehicle stalls. Car wont go faster than 10 to 15 mph. This happen 4 times withing 5 months of purchase. First time took it to dealer and they were unable to find any problems. One more call dealer and dealer rep. Said it probably was sensor or windshield camera but did not fix the problem. It happen again 2 times and took it to dealer and dealer said battery failed test and replace it. Same day after picking vehicle out of dealer it happen again. Purchase this vehicle as a relieable car for my daughter leaving to university and all it been is unsafe and unrealiable to her.

Service Brakes problem #44

I was driving , went to turn onto a street from another when my car lost power. Warnings popped up but I was so concerned about getting out of oncoming traffic, that I did not have time to read them, let alone take photos. I turned the engine off and restarted the car. It started without problem but a brake system problem alert popped up. It advised to take the car to the dealer. After turning the car off and on again, the alert went away. The car was towed to the dealer on 1-18-24. The dealer is working on it as of today, 1/31/24.

Service Brakes problem #45

The warning lights dealing with the braking system malfunctions. All warning lights dealing with the braking system come on the dash. The brakes failed to engage and the car began to roll backward on a hill had to use the emergency brakes to stop the car. This problem has happened twice since I had the car on 12/6/2023 at which time all warning lights came on dealing with the brake system and on 01/09/2024 both times the car was tested by the dealership and no codes were showing but I have a video of both incidents I provided. Both incidents were reported to the dealership on the same day of occurrence. 12/6/2023 and 01/09/2024. During this time the car was in ev mode and the acceleration would not respond as well. The only way to get the car back running normally was to turn the car off wait a few minutes and turn it back on. The photos attached will show speed and any other information needed because it is two different occasions of the same issue. In the second incident, a vehicle was behind me as the car began to roll back on a hill and I engaged the emergency brakes to avoid rolling back into the other vehicle.

Service Brakes problem #46

On Tuesday evening, December 19, 2023, while driving at highway speeds, the following message appeared on my digital display: brake system brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Other system messages began to appear, including, I believe, concerning the steering. More important, the car immediately went into a “limp mode“ with the speed dropping to 20 miles an hour, and then further down to as slow as 2 mph. Fortunately, I was not far from an exit and at the exit I pulled off the exit ramp onto the grass. I then shut the engine off and restarted it immediately. I was able to get back onto the exit ramp, but the initial message quickly reappeared and I was able to make it home driving between 10 and 15 mph. The next day the car was towed to the dealer who advised me that the issue was resolved by updating the software. At no point, did I ever receive a message or other indication that a software update was needed. The car has fewer than 5000 miles on it. The safety issue results from my being forced to drive at a very low speed while still on the highway. I independently did some online research and discovered that this type of issue has happened before with both this model and other Honda hybrids.

Service Brakes problem #47

I was driving at 40mph and the vehicle was driving normally when it abruptly lost all power. There was no acceleration when the accelerator was pushed and I had to guide the vehicle to the side of the road. When the car stopped, a brake warning appeared and instructed me to see the dealer. I turned the car off and it would not restart for about 30 seconds. It finally restarted and I was able to drive the short distance home, however the brake warning remained on the dash. I just had the car towed to the dealer. The road conditions were clear and dry and I had no previous problems with the car. Brake warning: "brake system: brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. " thankfully I had not yet entered the highway where the car's rapid deceleration could have caused an accident at highway speeds and jeopardized the safety of those in my vehicle and others on the roadway. I read that there has been a very limited recall on Accord hybrids due to similar issues (NHTSA campaign id number: 23v588000) and I believe this issue should be further investigated to determine whether the problems are more widespread.

Service Brakes problem #48

The 2023 Honda Accord sport hybrid has 8302 miles and it had complete brake failure. We had just refueled the car and moving away from the pumps, the pedal sank to the floor. I pumped the brakes several times and was able to stop the car. This was at about 3mph. Received a message on the dash that the brakes were compromised and not to drive the car. Shut the car off and restarted. The brake pedal was spongy. We drove home (about 2 miles) very slowly, using the brakes minimally. When I got home, I shut the car off. I decided I wanted a picture of the dash warning, but it didn't return. Went for a very low speed drive to try to duplicate the problem, but it seems normal now. Bringing to original dealer, 12-17-2023. We've had several other issues related to the parking brakes and cruise control on 11-13-23. Brought to dealer on 11-16-23 and they were unable to fix due to part shortage. They failures displayed are: 1 - brake system - parking brake not available. 2 - brake system - brake hold system problem. 3 - adaptive cruise control system problem. The drivers side rear seatbelt will not retract. Brought to dealer waiting for part to repair. We are fortunate this happened in a parking lot with little traffic. If this happened on a roadway at speed I would have no way to slow the car. This is a hybrid so I am not able to downshift, the parking brake is not functioning due to previous problem and the electronic drive doe not provide compression braking if I shut the car off. I would be happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Service Brakes problem #49

On December 9, 2023, while driving my brand new 2023 Honda Accord hybrid touring hpd package on the highway during snowy conditions at less than 50 mph less than 8000 miles on the odometer after my first oil change the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system suddenly and unexpectedly engaged with no obstacle, vehicle, or pedestrian ahead, causing the vehicle to skid uncontrollably and slam into a concrete highway barrier. The car was towed from the scene, and I was hospitalized for injuries sustained in the high-speed impact. The aeb component or system malfunctioned by activating without cause; it was inspected by police at the scene and I contacted Honda’s safety team to conduct an investigation. This unintended braking put my safety at extreme risk by inducing sudden deceleration and loss of control on a slippery highway, which could have endangered following traffic as well. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a Honda dealer or independent service center since the vehicle was not repaired. Police inspected it at the crash scene and issued me a ticket for “driving too fast for conditions” despite my explanation of the sudden braking; no manufacturer inspection of the aeb occurred, though I contacted Honda’s safety team and they attributed it to not following the owner’s guidebook without further review. Prior to driving, all dashboard warning lights illuminated unexpectedly; I turned the vehicle completely off, restarted it, and the lights disappeared with no further symptoms until the aeb engaged abruptly on the highway. This matches ongoing NHTSA investigations into Honda Accord and cr-v vehicles for braking problems, including false aeb activations.

Service Brakes problem #50

Good afternoon. I am contacting you because the dealer is not doing their job. For half a year of owning a car, we visited more services than we drove the car. The reasons for this: the steering wheel shook when driving this car from the very beginning, because the chassis was faulty. When braking, sounds and creaking are heard as if the car's chassis is shaking. The dealer said this is how it should be, but I know it shouldn't be this way. From the very beginning, the driver's front left wheel behaved incorrectly when driving at any time (the reason for this) was that the suspension system was not working properly. And all this is conveyed to me by the shaking steering wheel. The dealer says that's how it should be. (not true) lately all the lights on the dashboard have been giving errors, including the check engine light. While driving on the road, we almost had an accident because all the lights on the dashboard lit up and the car itself stopped right on the road where there were a lot of cars. And the children were sitting in the car. We almost had an accident. 5 minutes later the car started and we drove off. Over the past six months this has happened 10 times. Solve the problem or we will go to court. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the "power train failure" warning light illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated to approximately 20 mph. The emergency braking system began activating. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the residence. The failure also occurred while driving approximately 30 mph. The failure had occurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The dealer reset the vehicle to disengage the warning light that was illuminated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000.

When driving the car at 45 mph, warning lights came on for: (1)vehicle stability system problem. Reduced traction and handling. See your dealer. (2)electric power steering system problem. Steering assist reduced. See your dealer. (3)hill start assist problem. Vehicle my role upon brake release. See your dealer. (4)adaptive cruise control system problem. See your dealer. (5)brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. While these messages flashed, the car lost ability to accelerate, steer very well, and brake very well. The car came to a stop after it slowed and I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could. I placed in in park, turned it off, and then turned it back on. It drove normally for a few minutes and then another warning light came on for a few seconds. It disappeared and the car drove normally. The dealer said a code showed up but they couldn't replicate the issue. They ended up replacing the battery because they didn't want to give it back to me without a fix. About 4 weeks later, we were stopped on the highway and in park waiting for over an hour. As we sat there, the warning light came on that said, "electric parking brake system problem. Parking brake not available. See your dealer. " the dealer kept the car for 2 weeks, couldn't replicate the problem, and said there were no codes. They offered no fix. 2 weeks after that, the car flashed up a warning light while driving 5 mph in a parking lot. The warning light said that the "lane assist" was not operational and that I should contact the dealer. I couldn't take a pic of it because it only flashed up for 5-10 seconds. I'm taking the car in later today.

Service Brakes problem #53

25aug2023 at 75 mph multiple vehicle systems failed simultaneously and car lost power. Numerous codes were displayed on the dash in succession. Vehicle's loss of power slowed it rather quickly. Messages that I recall being displayed as the car lost power: tpms; brake system, power steering, air bag; vehicle stability assist, etc. Small video clip was taken during the event; however, due to obvious safety issues related to trying to move the car safely to the shoulder of the road during morning rush hour traffic, the video is short. Soon after pulling onto the shoulder the vehicle began flashing all electrical items in the car and then there was complete loss of power including the hazard lights. (other videos were taken of the various flashing warnings and the vehicle's behavior as it finally went into complete failure. . . . However, I am unable to upload to this site. ) vehicle was towed to the nearest Honda dealer. Honda north, butler PA 16001 28aug2023 Honda dealer verified that the car logged multiple dtc codes for various systems modules but could not replicate the failure. Car was given a short road test and no issues presented themselves. Honda north requested to keep the car for one more day for further investigation and a longer test ride with more diagnostics. 29aug2023 Honda north performed a longer (@20 mi) road test and stated the vehicle performed without issue. They explained that they had nothing from Honda engineering to indicate any action to take related to such an event. They again acknowledged that multiple dtc codes were logged and all systems were operational while restating that there was nothing to do unless it happened again and a module failed completely.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 48 mph when the vehicle suddenly displayed the word, "brakes," on the dashboard causing the vehicle to jerk as if it was coming to a stop. The contact floored the accelerator pedal to avoid the vehicle from stopping. The dealer was contacted however the vehicle had not been taken the vehicle to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 8,000.

Service Brakes problem #55

Regenerative braking system remains applied/engaged/enabled when accelerating.

Service Brakes problem #56

All the lights on my dash came on and the car would not move no faster than 10mph. Took it to the dealership and the mechanic stated that the brake light switch was not properly installed at the factory.

Service Brakes problem #57

I have reported that software cannot be updated on my car. Since my first report my rear seatbelts no longer need to be fastened with children in the car or the seat belt notification of not being fastened does not work. My air conditioner will stop if my infotainment system needs to be adjusted through my phone, and today in the rain my brakes locked up twice. The latter occurrence was coming down 1000 foot downhill in the rain with a car in front and an 18 wheeler behind me.

Service Brakes problem #58

I have had 2 separate experiences with starting my car and the lights on the dashboard come on. A message comes on with rolling alerts that states the automatic emergency braking, steering assist, lane keeping assist, braking assist, hill hold, adaptive cruise control are all turned off. Additionally regenerative braking was also turned off. I took it to two different Honda dealerships for maintenance. (may 8th, July 20). If you wait 30 mins the alert will disappear. My most recent incidence occurred on sept 2, I was out grocery shopping and the alerts reappeared while in motion. I was very afraid bc I have never had it come on while in motion. From my second visit July 20th I took it to get looked at and they said that they could not re-create the issue. So both dealerships restored the factory settings. Now this is my third time dealing with this. I took it on July 20th to have them update the system bc it continues to alert when turned off that there is a system update. I had to take the care back twice bc the system update kept alerting. While reading other people's issues I see it is connected to getting the system updated. I have paid a lot of money for this car and it only had 39 miles on it. I see that someone else has had this problem in the past. I travel for work and this is certainly an inconvenience. I want to know how serious is this problem and has other people reported this. See NHTSA id number: 11533957 for reference. I will be putting my photos on this report to show how the dashboard lights up. In my first visit they thought it had something to do with the electricity or battery as they explained to me, but the problem keeps happening. For the cost of this vehicle someone needs to find out what the issue is and fast. I do not want to have to abandon this care for my safety.

Service Brakes problem #59

I was driving the car on I four east toward orlando going towards disney world. Just bought the car two days ago and had 10 miles on it. Service Brakes problem #60

My car makes a weird sound when it gets to a full stop. The dealerships identified the issue but need help fixing it. I and the dealership have contacted hoda customer service, but they are not willing to fix the problem. This may be a safety threat. I have 3 technician report backing the same and attaching the last one only. No fix done so far.

Service Brakes problem #61

While driving in nc tonite, I was coming to a stop light near road construction. Suddenly my Accord hybrid jerked and stuttered and then stalled out. When I restarted my Accord hybrid the instrument cluster had a large amber warning that my braking system has a problem and that braking may be reduced. Really? and the warning on my instrument cluster also said to take my 2023 Accord hybrid with 248 miles on it, to the dealer. I just bought the vehicle on Feb 28, 2023! did I buy a lemon?.
