1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2026

My car started blinking the check engine light when I am going 40-50 mph. Got the vehicle scanned and the code showed “misfire cylinder 4” so I replaced the spark plugs and the coil on cylinder 4. Vehicle ran fine for about 3 weeks. Same issue happened again. I did research and found that alot of Honda vehicles with the 1. 5 turbo has had head gasket issues. I took it to a mechanic and got it diagnosed. There was no coolant when they checked as well as put the camera down cylinder 4 and seen fluids in the cylinder.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2025

My car has a hole in the motor, the throw rod shot out of it. The dealership classic Honda refused to do any real investigation and is relying solely on the dipstick reading. This clearly violates me in plenty of ways this is what I sent them. I am formally escalating this matter and requesting immediate supervisory review and intervention regarding the inspection and handling of my 2023 Honda Accord hybrid. The dealership is relying solely on a dipstick reading taken from an engine with a breached engine block. Once the engine block is compromised, the crankcase is no longer sealed, and oil redistributes into different internal cavities and passages. Under these conditions, a dipstick reading is not a reliable or valid method to determine pre-failure oil quantity or causation. I specifically requested that the oil pan drain plug be removed so the oil could be measured directly, which would provide an accurate and objective assessment of oil quantity. This request was refused. I was told, verbatim, that the dealership would not touch the vehicle any further. This refusal to perform a basic, non-destructive verification step, while continuing to rely on an unreliable post-failure dipstick reading, is not consistent with proper diagnostic procedure or good-faith warranty investigation. At this point, I am requesting: immediate supervisory review of this case assignment of a qualified Honda representative or supervisor to oversee a proper inspection documentation explaining why a direct oil measurement was refused confirmation that the vehicle and all components remain preserved for further review I am not asking for speculation or opinion. I am requesting a proper, objective, and technically sound investigation. Please treat this as a formal escalation request. I am prepared to pursue arbitration and further remedies if this matter continues to be handled without appropriate diagnostic standards. I request a response within 48 hours. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2025

Started the car and the system was not booting up properly. Had to restart the car a few times for the system to boot up properly. Took 3 min to start up after restarting the car. No error codes just major lag and delay. Car was updated to the most current update and no new updates were available at the moment. Bluetooth also has a hard time connecting to mobile devices. Engine makes weird sound when accelerating on the highway in eco mode. Sometimes feels like misfires when accelerating. When entering the car from outside the seat sometimes does not adjust back to the original position stays at the extended position it does when getting out of the car. Requires me to adjust my seat consistently.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2025

Lost all power and the warning light came on concerning brake system failure. The car came to a complete stop and would not accellerate, so had to shut down the system and restart in the middle of the road and luckily was able to drive home with only a brake light illuminated. There is definitely something wrong with the electrical braking system.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2024

Driving on town road up a hill at about 30 mph when I got a brake system warning and the engine shut off and accelerator did not work. I was able glide to the side of the road (steering worked). I turned the car off and on and was able to continue driving to my destination but the same error message was present along with several others (eg tpms, lane assist, collision mitigation). After being parked for 1 hour, I started car and there were no error messages and car functioned normally. Brought car to dealer (westbrook CT Honda) and they ran diagnostic codes but found nothing other than what they described as an older voltage flux. They had never heard of a car's engine shutting off with the break system error. Told me that if it happened again to have car towed in so that there would be no code resets. I can only imagine my fear level if this had happened at 65 mph in the middle lane of a highway! I found a on-line forum where others are describing the same thing. Time for a recall? [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2024

I went to put windshield washer fluid into my car. When I opened the hood, I saw that the under hood insulation was gone (burt away). We just had a snow storm and it happen to be heavy wet snow. I always turn on the car from my house (auto start). The heavy snow forced the hood to touch the engine and because it did not have a cover, destoyed the insulation. I went to Honda and showed the service manager the picture. He said I would have to pay to replace the under hood insulation, that does not seem right.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2024

Tried to start vehicle, would not start or go into drive. All warning lights on dash. Got out of the car and locked and got back in, same thing happened. Car suddenly dies completely while driving. Entire electrical system failure rendering car inoperable. This happens without warning other than all lights on the dashboard illuminating right before shutdown. Car cannot be steered or moved and needed to be towed. This has happened twice both times on arterial roadways. A very dangerous situation! first incident reported to you in August of 2024 only four months ago.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2024

While driving the vehicle on a very busy highway, it completely stalled and several warning lights appeared: "brake system problem see dealer, check engine light, tpms, etc. I have attached a picture of the warning. Another vehicle behind me slammed on his brakes but ended up bumping my back bumper (no visible damage). Thankfully the driver was alert and was able to slam on his brakes to avoid a disaster on highway 270 (near washington, DC). I was able to restart the vehicle after a few minutes, the warning lights remained on, and I was able to drive 8 miles to the dealership. According to the work order: "the technician pulled multiple codes, followed the diagnostic tree, cleared codes. " I do not feel safe driving this vehicle and have seen other complaints regarding the same issue on a Honda website. Please research and assist as best you can.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2024

The engine completely stopped while driving on two different occasions, once on i10 freeway and on a busy surface street. Hard to pinpoint the failure either mechanical or electrical. Was inspected by two different Honda dealerships and both found no error messages. On the freeway was extremely dangerous we were lucky to safely get to the shoulder and call aaa. On the most occurrence the engine shut off and caused a traffic jam but after a short time was able to restart with no damage only many angry drivers showing their irritation. There was no prior messages or other symptoms that was evident prior to these two occurrences. Had a safety recall performed yesterday, to inspect high pressure fuel pump and no fault was found. This is definitely a safety related defect and if it happens again I don't know if luck will be with me a third time.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2024

I am a veteran. I contacted Honda customer service to escalate my situation. I have not yet received help from the winston-salem Honda dealer as of 9:00 a. M. On 10/18/24. I have complained to the department of justice's consumer protection division. I have sent documentation. I reached out on facebook. I was last contacted by dallas, even though mike's name is on my last paperwork. This is suspicious. My rubber on my door has been replaced. My seatbelt was missing a bolt. Tires with regular, correct maintenance from the dealer should last 30,000 miles. Because Honda of winston-salem did not follow the schedule, after bringing my car to them many times, I have to replace my four tires at under 22,000 miles. I have lost 30% of my tires' lifespan unnecessarily due to a lack of regular balancing and rotation, despite multiple visits to Honda of winston-salem. My last recall letter arrived over 60 days ago. My seatbelt, cvt transmission, and engine have recalls. My window tint has faded, my door is failing, my brakes have issues, there are electrical issues, and the ceiling is sagging. My Hondalink is incorrect. I asked for help with car features and I paid $3000 up front extended warranty, but they refused to assist. 18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2024

Today I was driving my 2023 Honda Accord touring hybrid with 8k miles on it. Out of the blue, a bunch of warning messages / lights came on ("brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. "; also tire warning symbol). Car automatically decelerated (wouldn't accelerate). This would have been very dangerous happening on a freeway.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2024

Traveling on the expressway at approximately 70mph the dashboard/instrument panel started lighting up with warnings regarding tires, braking, engine, etc, and the car/power started shutting down, could not accelerate, steering and braking became difficult, fortunately I was able to access an off ramp at which point the car was stopped with multiple cars and semis behind me. The emergency flasher did work which most likely saved us from being rear-ended. We turned the car off and then turned it back on twice and then it started up again.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2024

Came to stop sign. As I turned the corner, engine died in the intersection, all warning lights and dashboard warnings came on. I was dead in the intersection. I had to put car into park, turn the car off, turn car back on and then I could start the car and move out of the intersection to the side of the road. All warning lights and dashboard warnings were on. I have pic of warnings from last event (of 4). Able to drive car, everything was normal except brake warnings was on the whole trip (30 min) but brakes worked fine. Parked car for 2 hours and when I came out, all warnings were not displayed. This has happened at about the following dates and mileage on the car between events. Car purchased new 2/25/2023. First event was about 7/16/2023 at about 2994 miles. Second event was about 2/20/2024 at about 4978 miles since first event (7972 total miles). Third event was about 6/20/2024 at about 3885 miles since 2nd event (11857 total miles). Fourth event was on 11/9/2024 at exactly 3970 miles since 3rd event (15827 total miles. Each time, I have taken it into a dealer. They did a software update after 3rd event and after 4th event, replaced icm module (ignition control module). Honda factory person worked with dealership after 3rd and 4th event. To date, we do not have any evidence that replacing the icm has fixed the problem but also no evidence it has not fixed the problem as the events seem to happen every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. I have lots of documentation I have sent to Honda and have a case number with them (13997837). I have asked Honda to replace the car. They started the process but just this week in a call, they said they were ending that process for now. Not sure if I was able to add copies of my dealership invoices, my own correspondence with Honda. If they are not on this document, call me and I will send them to you or email them to you.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2024

My 2023 car has 850 miles on it I was at a stop waiting for a train to pass when all warning dashboard lights came on. The brake would not work and the gas would not work. I turned the car off and restarted it and most lights went off except for the brake warning. I was able to turn around and take car to dealership. They said it was a faulty 12 volt battery and replaced it. I haven't had issues since but also haven't driven much. I have read of other Honda owners having the similar issue.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2024

Car stalled while coming to a stop and wouldn’t accelerate. Dashboard lit up with multiple errors including battery, abs, engine, and traction control. Had to restart the car 3 time before being able to accelerate and pull off the road. All lights went off except brake light which stayed on and displayed error message “break system problem. Break performance may be reduced. See your dealer. ” vehicle available for inspection if requested.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2024

2-16-2024 my wife was driving this hybrid vehicle when it suddenly lost power in middle of road about a city block from starting location. There were no reasons for any automatic hazard overrides to become active. Dashboard displays stayed on but there was no accelerator response, and, importantly, there was an immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. Vehicle was traveling uphill and the emergency brakes had to be applied to arrest backward motion after coming to a stop. Judging by rate of slowdown, regenerative braking may also have been active. Rapidly following this, several diagnostic/warning messages (re brakes, steering, etc) started flashing in succession and then the message "see your dealer. " about 10 minutes after this incident, my wife made one attempt to restart the car after turning the car off and then on. The response was a repeat of the flashing messages. I arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after this and the car restarted in a normal fashion. So, unfortunately, this is an intermittent, difficult-to-firmly-diagnose problem. Nevertheless, in view of the severe safety issues associated with this failure, we had the car towed to a Honda dealer. They found several items in the car's diagnostic system and, in consultation with Honda engineers, performed a software update for the icm (ignition control module?) which, we were told, would address this problem, since other similar complaints had apparently been registered. The huge safety issue that this failure represents (loss of power along with steering assistance and braking assistance plus possibly more rapid deceleration) cannot be overestimated. We will be risking our lives to believe that the software fix truly addresses this problem. To believe that a software update is a sure fix is to believe that Honda knows the exact reason for this failure, and if they do, it is absurd that a software recall has not been issued. Please follow up on this matter with Honda. Thank you.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2024

I was travelling across a bridge at 45-50 mph when suddenly, every single warning light came on and the engine shut off. I had to coast over the bridge and into a parking lot. I turned the car completely off and back on and the warning lights went away. The next day, I took the car to the dealership I purchased it from where they performed tests and concluded that rain caused my vehicle to shut off, this is not the first time they have encountered a similar issue, and there is nothing they can do about it. This is not an acceptable answer, as I cannot worry about mine and my family's safety in the car every time it rains. If there was another vehicle close to me when this happened, there would have been an accident. If this is a common issue, Honda needs to address this ASAP.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

The contact owns a 2023 Honda acord. The contact stated that while driving on two occasions at 45 mph, six unknown warning lights plus the brake system warning light illuminated. The vehicle began to lose motive power and stalled. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,670.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2024

I purchased a new 2023 Honda Accord from woodland hills Honda on 1/20/24. On 1/23/24, I pull into my garage after driving home from work and turn off the car. I get out to an overwhelming smell of gasoline. I inspect the car for visible leaks, which I don’t see, but the gasoline fumes kept growing and spreading throughout my garage. Concerned for my safety, I call the fire department. They show up and inspect the car and find no visible leaks either but advise that I do not keep the vehicle in the garage overnight due to the growing fumes and to get the car towed to the dealer, as they do not want to turn the ignition on either for risk of fire. I call Honda roadside assist and they towed the car to the dealership. The next morning, I get a text message from a Honda service rep at 7:30am initiating the service. After 3 hours of waiting and not getting an update, I text the same number asking what the status of the car is and whether they have identified the cause of the gasoline fumes coming from the hood. The rep texts back saying he will call me. When he calls, the first thing he says is that they identified the issue and that “it’s not a big deal, the car wasn’t going to catch on fire. ” no concern for my safety or what I had gone through, but rather a diminishing of the issue. He says it has something to do with a pipe that is supposed to distribute the fuel to the engine and other components, but the pipe is damaged and gasoline was getting backed up in the engine, causing the fumes. I don't know whether the problem has been reproduced/confirmed by the dealer apart from my verbal conversation with the service rep. I have asked for documentation for the diagnosis of the issue, a repair order, and report regarding long-term damage to the car 3 times and the service rep has dodged my questions all 3 times. There were no warning lights/messages prior to the issue and no one else has inspected the vehicle. I am worried they will hand me back an unsafe car.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2024

I was driving , went to turn onto a street from another when my car lost power. Warnings popped up but I was so concerned about getting out of oncoming traffic, that I did not have time to read them, let alone take photos. I turned the engine off and restarted the car. It started without problem but a brake system problem alert popped up. It advised to take the car to the dealer. After turning the car off and on again, the alert went away. The car was towed to the dealer on 1-18-24. The dealer is working on it as of today, 1/31/24.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

This past December (2023) while driving my 2023 Honda Accord hybrid I experienced an issue where multiple warnings about the engine, the break system. . . Etc lit up on the dash along with a warning to contact a dealership. As the warning messages lit up the dash, the car lost all drive-power and slowly decelerated to a stop. I had not made it out of the parking lot of my apartment complex, and a power-cycle allowed me to return back to my parking space. The obvious safety concerns, especially if I was in traffic, are self-evident as a crash could occur. The sporadic, unexplainable, and unpredictability makes it 10x more concerning from a safety standpoint. I've had one checkup since, and I have an subsequent appointment to have this checked even further. I've found other testimonies online from customers who've had this or similar experiences with this same make/model/year. I felt it best to report this as it could be a larger issue than the manufacturer currently understands or is making public.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2023

While driving at speeds between 3-70 mph, the vehicle will intermittently display multiple warning lamps along with having an immediate loss of motive power (go into limp mode). When this occurs, the car must be coasted over to the side of the road & restarted typically twice to clear all of the dash alerts. Having a car go into limp mode while driving on city streets, highways or interstates puts our family in danger as well as the safety of others on the road near us. This issue has reproduced itself over a dozen times for our family & the service department has not been able to reproduce/confirm when brought in for repair. The service team on the 1st service date found multiple codes for loss of communications. They cleared the codes, found no permanent codes, performed a hard reset on the system & sent the car home. The 2nd service call again showed multiple codes for loss of communications. They were not able to reproduce the issue & sent the car home. The 3rd service call displayed the same codes as before. They updated the icm software & sent the car home. The 4th service call displayed the same codes. The service team attempted to reproduce the issue by driving the vehicle for ~250 miles unsuccessfully & wanted to send the car home. We disagreed & they mentioned we should open a case with Honda which we did. Several days later Honda & the service team replaced the integrated control unit. It will take much time & many miles before we can be certain the icm replacement did or did not resolve the issue. The issue 1st occurred near 6,200 in mileage and roughly 4 months after purchase. The car now has over 27,000 miles. As far as warning lamps during an event, multiple pop up that are images/icons as well as text of issues you can scroll through. Battery lamp, vehicle stability assist reduced traction and handling, brake system problem brake performance may be reduced, electric power steering system problem steering assist reduced, etc.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2023

Well, I don't really know what to do. . Last night the car was sitting in the garage on. And playing a seminar I was watching. On my phone. The keys were nowhere around the car, and the door was unlocked and the car was just sitting there on in the garage. We've only had the car five days, but this worries me. . It reminds me of christine. This is the first year of this body styles and I hope it never does anything weird like this on the freeway (cutting off) or parked in front of a store. Then again this morning the door was unlocked already and didn't beep to open.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2023

The vehicle has a feature that when transmission is in park, and certain parameters are met the vehicle engine turns off after 20 minutes. There are no warnings offered. I nearly died when taking a nap in my car on a hot day in my car with a/c running. Then, without warning the vehicle just turned off while I was sleeping. I was woken by a passerby who noticed my overheating body. This is obviously especially dangerous for children. I reached out to Honda and they confirmed this "feature". However, they offered no solution. There should at least be an override on this system for when the weather is severe.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2023

The Honda Accord lx is equipped with a seven inch audio infotainment screen that does not detect nor capable of having wifi. The car's computer will update through bluetooth and/or tethering to my phone. After I set up my Hondalink and free att wifi(which wifi is on my phone), I went to Honda dealer I bought from and another local technician to speak to them about my phone tethered settings being on no file transfer. At both locations I was told my car does not update through my phone, they looked for a wifi connection in my car, and then asked to see my phone. I thought a recent update had made my engine go to 4rpms without switching gears. I was told where I bought it at that this was not on my cars computer and it did not happen. I have contacted Honda corp to be told the same that the car does not update through my phone. Hondalink has a locator and engine updates were applied to my car at 8pm on Friday night in my driveway. Bluetooth does not have enough strength to install engine updates.

Hondalink app indicated update was requested while car dashboard indicated the update was installed and complete. Immediately thereafter, the check engine light went off (not blinking) and received following message: "emissions system problem. Power may be reduced. See your dealer. ". Habitual problem for Honda. I was forced to trade in a 2019 Accord hybrid due to emissions problems causing blinking check engine light with car computer not retaining error codes - see prior complaint to NHTSA - tracking #11521930.
