Car stopped/hit the brakes on its own without anything in front of it. The collision detection warning went off while traveling at 25 mph, hit the brakes and stopped the car. I have a dashcam and can provide video proof of it.
To whom it may concern, I am submitting this complaint to report a serious vehicle safety issue involving a Honda vehicle that was under a lease agreement. From the start of the lease, the vehicle suffered from repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensors. These issues were reported, and the vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership. Despite these efforts, the problem was never resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle had an active safety recall that was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle had been serviced at the dealership on several occasions. This failure to inform me of a recall represents a significant safety concern. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. I firmly believe that the unresolved sensor failures and the lack of recall disclosure played a role in this incident. I am submitting this report so that NHTSA may investigate this matter and determine whether there is a broader safety issue affecting other vehicles. Thank you for your attention. Sincerely, ramon duany.

This vehicle upon heavy rain/downpours the vehicle foward collision sensors may activate and cause sudden dangrous and potentially life threatening braking. One day it was raining very bad I was alone on the road going about 45 mph. The storm caused a really bad downpours and the car suddenly braked hard with no reason whatsoever. It only happens when it rains severely. Im not the only person who has experianced this. People on the facebook 2023 Honda Accord hybrid page has had the same issue. This system needs to be updated before it takes someones life. It is unsafe to drive this vehicle under heavy rains due to the automatic braking system kicking on due to being overwhelmed by heavy rains.
On December 9, 2023, while driving my brand new 2023 Honda Accord hybrid touring hpd package on the highway during snowy conditions at less than 50 mph less than 8000 miles on the odometer after my first oil change the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system suddenly and unexpectedly engaged with no obstacle, vehicle, or pedestrian ahead, causing the vehicle to skid uncontrollably and slam into a concrete highway barrier. The car was towed from the scene, and I was hospitalized for injuries sustained in the high-speed impact. The aeb component or system malfunctioned by activating without cause; it was inspected by police at the scene and I contacted Honda’s safety team to conduct an investigation. This unintended braking put my safety at extreme risk by inducing sudden deceleration and loss of control on a slippery highway, which could have endangered following traffic as well. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a Honda dealer or independent service center since the vehicle was not repaired. Police inspected it at the crash scene and issued me a ticket for “driving too fast for conditions” despite my explanation of the sudden braking; no manufacturer inspection of the aeb occurred, though I contacted Honda’s safety team and they attributed it to not following the owner’s guidebook without further review. Prior to driving, all dashboard warning lights illuminated unexpectedly; I turned the vehicle completely off, restarted it, and the lights disappeared with no further symptoms until the aeb engaged abruptly on the highway. This matches ongoing NHTSA investigations into Honda Accord and cr-v vehicles for braking problems, including false aeb activations.
The car's dashboard will flash break and will use its emergency braking system to stop when there isn't anything in the way. Thus, the car stopping short and potentially causing an accident while there isn't a reason to break.
I have reported that software cannot be updated on my car. Since my first report my rear seatbelts no longer need to be fastened with children in the car or the seat belt notification of not being fastened does not work. My air conditioner will stop if my infotainment system needs to be adjusted through my phone, and today in the rain my brakes locked up twice. The latter occurrence was coming down 1000 foot downhill in the rain with a car in front and an 18 wheeler behind me.
