1 Air Brake problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/23/2011

I own a 2010 Honda Accord v6. I have had this car for one year. The mileage is just over 18,000 miles. When I took my car in for inspection on yesterday at the Honda dealership, they informed me that my rear brakes will need to be replaced within the next three months. I have owned Hondas every since 1989 and premature brake wear has never occurred with any of the Honda that I have owned. Please tell me what I can do to get some type of resolution for this problem. I feel this is a safety issue because your brakes are the most important thing in a car. Also, this car has a faulty front bumper. It is attached to the car by snaps. These snaps break and the bumper starts separating from the car. I have taken it back to the Honda dealership and they sent it to their body shop but the bumper is still try to separate from the car. If the bumper comes off it could cause an accident.

2 Air Brake problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/23/2011

2010 Honda Accord. Pre-mature rear brake ware. I have 25,ooo miles, all highway. The rear brakes had to be replaced. I went to Honda. They said it was my fault. And wanted $ 250, to fix. Said I needed new roators (lie, local shop said rear brake shot, not roators. Dealer no help. Called american Honda, they said they would call the dealer, and try to help. Dealer told them I was never there. I have invoice, there is a class action suite, for 2009 rear brakes, not my 2010. (yet).

3 Air Brake problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/05/2011

When trying to brake, my car shakes and shimmies as if it is stopping on a cobblestone road--worse when trying to brake when going downhill or at higher speeds. This minimizes my control as my steering column begins to shake and I have to "pump" the brakes to a complete stop. I replaced the brakes at about 3,000 miles and have to keep replacing them as it gets worse and worse. I took it to a mechanic and he said that my brake pads are fine and can't figure out what the issue is.

5 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/22/2010

After noticing a squealing sound coming from my rear tires, I went to my mechanic to have it checked out and was told I needed new rear brakes. My 2008 Honda Accord only had 37,000 miles on it and I had to replace the rear brakes pads for a total of $140 out of my pocket!.

6 Air Brake problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/05/2010

Rear brakes prematurely wearing out after 18,000 miles.

7 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

I was backing out of my drive way when I pressed the brakes to slow down and the brakes "grind'. The following week I took my 2008 Honda Accord to the dealer and I was told the brakes "prematurely wear out" I asked about a recall and I was told that there is a class action suit so Honda can not do a recall. I bought my car preowned from carmax in December 2009.

8 Air Brake problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/29/2010

My 2010 Honda Accord coupe was making a metallic "squealing" sound when I applied the brakes (and, eventually, after applying the brakes). I took my car to the dealer (union park Honda in wilmington DE) to have the brakes looked at and was told that they needed to be replaced "with an updated factory part". Afterward I saw the numerous complaints about 2008-2009 Honda Accord rear brake wear after as little as 15,000 miles. My 2010 Accord (which was not one of the 2010's included in the class action lawsuit) had almost identical issues. Also of note is that the rear brakes were at 1mm of material left (out of 10mm), while the front brakes were at 7mm (out of 10mm), so this would not indicate wear due to driving conditions.

9 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/28/2010

I have a 2008 Honda Accord coupe. On 11/28/2010, while driving the vehicle, I heard a loud screeching sound coming from the rear tires, as I applied the brakes it felt like the vehicle was hitting bottom, I took the vehicle for service on 12/01/2010, and was advised I needed new brake pads. The vehicle has 24,046 miles. For the past three (3) years I have taken this vehicle for service to the same Honda dealer, they never warned me that the rear brakes would require such frequent repairs. I was very upset to have to paid $250. 00 for repairs. Thank you for your assistance.

10 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Back brakes are making a loud sound when I press on them. Car begins to shake as well. Many people are having the same issues.

11 Air Brake problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

My 1997 Honda Accord ex with 107,000 miles that I had owned since brand new and had serviced routinely developed an abs braking problem. My brakes were determined to be ok and the abs light did not come on, but when I stepped on the brakes they would make a loud and slow "click click" sound, the abs buzzing sound occurred, the brakes would push up and the car would lurch forward. Dealer replicated the issue and determined that it was likely the modulator needing to be replaced. This seems to be a common issue on here- please look into this!.

12 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/27/2010

Purchased Honda Accord exlv6 in 02/08. Rear brakes started squeaking at 3k miles. Brought the car into bay ridge dealership in brooklyn NY and work was done to the rotors and/or rear brake pads numerous times. I have complained to the service mgr on every oil change and they're well aware of the situation. I was told everyone's waiting for Honda to issue recall. I have sent letters to Honda in 2008 & 2009 to file complaints . The issue is well documented online and in various magazines. Honda told me it was normal wear and tear, but that is not satisfactory. Aside from the noise, there is a real safety issue here as the braking distance seems longer. I was finally so frustrated that I went to a trusted local mechanic and was told the rear brake pads needed replacing immediately. Approx 18k miles. The ironic part is that he told me to make an appointment soon because he knows this will continue to happen and worried for my safety.

13 Air Brake problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/25/2009

My 2009 Honda Accord started having front and back brake problems from 17,000 miles. As it went on the noise got bigger and bigger now at 21,000 miles I need front and rear brakes the dealer refuses to fix the brakes.

14 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/18/2009

I have a 2008 Honda Accord and drive about 22,000 miles mainly highway a year. At 20,000 miles my rear brakes went out a year after purchasing. I was told I must have drove w/the parking brake on and brakes were replaced. Next, as time went on many others were having the same problems and dealerships were aware and agreed this was an issue but Honda wasn't doing anything about it. I have now replaced my rear brakes a second time and called american Honda I have 42,000 miles this time. I was told due to the highway miles I'm getting more out of the brakes then intended. The brakes are working up to specs is what was said but also said that Honda knows this isn't right for the customer or for what a Honda buyer is expecting but there will be no change. I was heading toward the mountains of chatanooga when I was going to hit the mark for replacement. I was afraid to drive the car and have the brakes go out. I thought to replace them before the noise I'd hear just in case I was on the mountains. I took the car in and my rotors were effected even though I hadn't heard any signal noise yet and the rear brakes needed replacement. The dealerships apologize and admit they've brought this to Honda's attention but nothing is done about it. I could have been on those mountains with it going out but luckily I knew already it was a possibility and concern. For me, I'm going to have to replace the rear brakes yearly. It is still cheaper than me buying a new car in this economic time but awful to buy a trusted name like Honda and have this safety concern each year that a company is aware of but won't fix or take on the cost of repair. I was told that the problem was handled in this years model but don't know that for sure. No one is thinking at 20,000 miles their rear brakes might go out while driving. This is a problem that I hope will be addressed. I was told to send my complaint here by a service mechanic at Honda because he said he knows this is an issue not being addressed.

15 Air Brake problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

16 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/27/2009

2008 Honda Accords rear brake failing & rotors need to be replaced @16,000 miles. I was upset to find out that my almost new car needed brakes & rotors @16,000 miles. I have never had to have brakes replaced before 50,000 miles. I researched a Honda Accord web site & found alot of other Honda owners were having the same problem & are being told it is their driving habits. Honda refuses to acknowledge that this is a manufacturer defect & can cause a vehicle crash. I find it odd that I took the car in for an oil change & they knew the brakes were bad. Scary stuff - a major car manufacturer refusing to admit they have a design problem. I called Honda headquarters & they told me this is the first they are hearing about it. Not true! I found out that I was not the only person having this problem after researching it on line. Many others were filing complaints & being told the same thing. I paid to have the brakes replaced & the rotors resurfaced. I will not keep this car if this is what is going to keep happening. Someone will get killed because no one thinks they need brakes replaced so soon.

17 Air Brake problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/30/2009

I bought my 2009 Honda Accord lx on December 30, 2008. Less than a month after that, my brakes started making a horrific squeaking sound every time I applied pressure to them. It does not matter if I tap them lightly or I push down hard; the brakes still make terrible noises. I took my car in to the Honda dealership twice for an oil change and once for the brake sounds. All three times, I asked the associates to check the brakes. Each time, they said the brakes were adjusted (I. E. Sanded) and that the noise should cease. On the my trip, I told them whatever they were doing wasn't working. It was then I was told that Honda Accords seem to have a brake issue, but Honda is aware and working on a solution. As of last week, my car is not only making squeaking noises when I brake, it is also making a high-pitched grinding sound that is audible over music playing on a low volume. The noise occurs every day, just like the brakes' noise happens daily. This should not have happened to a car that was less than a month old and is now less than a year old. I have a little over 25,000 miles on the car and feel embarrassed to have to drive a car that looks so nice but sounds so horrible. I fear going long distances because I'm worried my brakes may not stop me in time. Honda needs to recall the brakes and replace them now. Honda owners simply do not deserve this.

18 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/15/2008

Mid-December at 28,000mi in my Honda Accord, I started hearing grinding noises when backing out of the driveway; went to the Honda dealer so they could tell me what was going on. I was told that the rear brakes had 1mm and I needed to replace them as soon as possible. I asked them to cover this expense with an extended warranty I bought when I got the car and I was told that this would cover anything from bumper to bumper. They charged me $50. 00 for the inspection (I paid for it) and told me that the estimate was $170. 00 to replace them. My total bill was $180. 00 dollars. This is a disgrace and Honda needs to stand behind this mess up and honor their customers.

19 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/10/2008

Premature wear on brakes on 2008 Honda Accord. Purchased car in 2007 and have had to replace brakes in 2008 & 2009 with less than 30k miles on it. Brakes are $200+ to be replaced and squeal and squeak even after replacing. Brakes are of poor quality and need to be recalled and replaced by Honda motor corporation.

20 Air Brake problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/06/2008
