Four problems related to mechanical parking brake have been reported for the 1996 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The button on the emergency brake sticks. "fixed" several times w/o success. The brake will not engage in this condition and is a potential hazard.
The defective emergency braking lever is inoperative which may result in roll away or accident.
Car was parked off with emergency brake released by itself almost hit another car , please describe .
Emergency parking brake lever will not remain in the set position, causing the vehicle to roll. Dealer replaced the spring inside the lever mechanism which did not correct the problem. Please give any further details.
