Three problems related to front seat recliner have been reported for the 1998 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After being rear ended at approximately 50 mph , the consumer struck the vehicle in front of his vehicle and the driver seat back broke. The air bag did not deploy.
The driver's side seat latch mechanism fails to lock the seat in position. The seat will lock from going forward or backwards along the floor, although it will not lock when tilting to lean back or lean forward causing a very dangerous driving situation.
After letting someone in rear seat. The front goes to reclining postion, not the upright, driving position.
