Two problems related to starter have been reported for the 1998 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Car wouldn't start, Jan 10, 2009 was taken to service station,battery ok engine ok, charging system ok, computer system ok they couldn't find anything wrong, car would start fine,nothing was done to it. 11 days later car wouldn't start,so ignition starter was replaced. Car was ok until Jan 26(5 days after new car ignition switch was replaced) car is still in repair shop. Just found out on internet about problems and recall of 98 Honda Civic ignition switch. Please advise as to what to do next, need car for work travel. I am afraid for my life to use this car now. I do not feel safe in it at all.
Consumer stated after having the recall work performed done on the ignition switch, the remote starter was no longer working, consumer was informed by the dealership that performed the recall, that they were not responsible if it did not work after fixing the vehicle, consumer was left without a vehicle for 4 hours to have the remote starter reconnected for at a cost of 60 dollars, because the dealership had destroyed all of the wires.
