Seven problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 1999 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1. My son drove the 99 Honda Civic ex on a residential area and merged into the main street. My son pressed the brake pedal to slow down approaching the intersection but it suddenly accelerated, crossed the intersection and hit the tree across the street. 2. Even pressing the brake pedal, car accelerated it self and could not stop the car on time to avoid hitting the tree. Luckily, there were no death or personal injuries. 3. Car had extensive frontal and engine damage and can not be repaired.
I marcie beebe was traveling down lee summit road, northbound, at 35 mph. I was traveling down a hill and approaching a corner, when I applied my brakes. At that point, my brakes locked up and I was not able to steer the car after that point. I cross into the southbound lane striking a car and into a ditch where my car was stopped by a street sign. I noticed my car was not running were there any lights on indicating my car was still had power. I detect my brakes locked up and this is why I lost ability to steer, causing this misfortunate accident. Dt.
Consumer was driving at 55 mph applied brakes suddenly to avoid accident, but still vehicle did not stop in time, and ended up hitting vehicle that pulled out in front unexpectedly. Upon impact, dual airbags did not deploy, vehicle was totaled.
I was traveling at less than 15 miles per hour. The traffic was coming to a stop. When I applied the brakes in order to stop, they did not work. I began pumping them, but that did not work right away. After a few times, the brakes finally worked, but it was too late. I was already about to rear end the car in front of me. This happened 2 weeks before when a relative borrowed the car. He almost had to use the emergency brake, but they worked after he pumped them. Honda does not care. They had the brakes tested and said they were fine. I don't care about a huge law suit. I just do not want this to happen to anyone else. I want justice andthe money I have lost for the deductible, the rental car fees, and other losses.
When driving at any speed and applying the brakes, the brakes go straight to the floorboard. Also, vehicle is popping out of gear.
Brakes & airbags do not work on 1999 Honda Civics.
Honda and american family act like the accident is no big deal. No safety defect listed.
