Speed Control Linkage problems of the 1999 Honda Civic

Two problems related to speed control linkage have been reported for the 1999 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2000

While attempting to apply the brakes vehicle accelerated forward suddenly, resulting in a collision which totaled the vehicle. Dealership was notified.

2 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 05/05/1999

While driving around another vehicle and turning to the left, vehicle suddenly accelerated and hit a tree, resulting a rollover. But engine was still revving up. At that point turned off the vehicle and turn back on, the engine still was revving. Please provide further information.
