Five problems related to tire tread/belt have been reported for the 1999 Honda Civic. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The rear passenger tire experienced tread separation. Full set of new tires were installed.
Left front tire tread separtated causing car to swerve, tread damaged left front fender, hood, light assembly, and knocked off lower body panel. (dot number: w27j tiresize: p185/65/14).
While driving about 65 mph tire on the rear passenger's side busted. On 9/11/00, driver experienced the same problem with tire on the front passenger's side, however this one did not blowout while driving, right rear tire blewout while driving on 9/13. Dunlop has been contacted about the tires. Dunlop was willing to replace the tires at half price.
Consumer was traveling about 65mph on freeway and heard a loud banging noise. She almost lost control of vehicle. The right front tire's tread separated. Tires were dunlop db7c1199 . She contacted dunlop, and attendant told her that they would pro rate her tires. It was noticed that the other front tire was beginning to separate also. 2 days later, the right rear tire experienced a blowout, dunlop representative stated that the tires only last 20000 to 30000 miles and consumer's tires had 29784 miles on them.
Tire totally separated while traveling on interstate at high speed. ( dot number: tire size: p185 65r14 ).
