The consumer request reimbursement from the manufacturer but was denied (dunlop sport 9000, 205/45zr17 88w sp high performance reinforced tire).
I have a 2001 Civic with 54,000 miles on it. The Civic came with firestone fr690 tires -- p185 65 r15 serial # w2fpf9h2500 (for 3 tires) and w2fpf9h2400 for the other tire. I still had the orginal set of tires at the time of the incident. I was on the expressway going about 65mph when the sidewall on the front driver side tire blew out. When I took it to the firestone dealer he could not find any puncture or other defect with the tire. He inspected the remainder of the tires and noticed that the inside sidewall on every one of them was separating from the tire. He replaced all of my tires free of charge even though the existing tires were almost all worn down. He did not prorate the replacement; just gave me them for free; in fact he gave me a better brand affinity lh30 (not hard to do). My personal feeling is that this tire should be recalled. It's defective.
