Description of incident and safety complaint 2004 Honda Civic airbag recall I am filing this complaint regarding a safety concern involving my daughter's 2004 Honda Civic and a recalled airbag. Weeks before the accident, we contacted Honda regarding the airbag recall affecting the vehicle. Despite our efforts to address this safety concern, we never received a follow-up call or instructions on when to bring the vehicle in to have the recalled airbag repaired. On Saturday, [xxx], my daughter was involved in a serious accident in mobile, alabama. According to her account, another driver swerved, causing her to leave the roadway and strike trees. The vehicles did not make contact with each other. During the crash, the airbag in her Honda Civic did not deploy, and my daughter sustained injuries. The vehicle was severely damaged and is believed to be a total loss. I am deeply concerned that we attempted to address the airbag recall before this accident but never received the follow-up needed to schedule the repair. I want this incident documented and investigated to determine whether the recalled airbag or any related defect contributed to the airbag's failure to deploy and whether the recall had any connection to my daughter's injuries. I am also requesting that the circumstances surrounding Honda's lack of follow-up regarding our attempt to arrange the recall repair be reviewed. My primary concern is my daughter's safety and ensuring that this incident receives appropriate attention so that other families are not placed at risk. In 2019 Honda came out to fix the air bag recall. I never had problems with the air bag light coming on until after they fixed the air bag. The air bag light stays on all the time along with a check engine light. Also I’ve had to replace the whole transmission in 2019. In 2018 my engine cracked and I had to replace it with another engine. Currently the rack and pion went bad. The vehicle will at times steer on its own and sometimes the steering wheel won’t turn. I’ve spent thousands of dollars over the past few years. I do not believe Honda put in the air bags correctly. I barely had driven my car anywhere and I should not be having these types of problems. It’s a safety hazard.
As I was making a right hand turn, a key from my key ring became lodged in a screw hole in the steering wheel. As I was exiting the turn, the lodged key ran up into the arm of the wiper blades control, preventing the wheel from straightening out. As a result, the vehicle continued turning and ran into a parked car. The reporting police officer observed and noted the defect in his police report. No ticket was issued.
(1) new vehicle - steering was not as responsive as previous vehicle (same model) (2) during a left turn motion of engine caused skid into right wall of underpass. (3) left front engine mount was replaced - I have the original mount. Vehicle had approx 4700 miles when accident occurred.
Vehicle wanders, saftey related, been to dealer 3 tmes. Also have specific documentation upon request.
2005 Honda Civic with hard to control on a steep hill. Consumer states that when the vehicle was taken to the dealer for this problem no problem was found. The consumer stated when going down a stiff hill, he tapped the brake and the vehicle went left to right.
