Unknown Or Other problem #1

The rpm down to 0 while stopped at a red light. Tried restarting the car, the rpm would go up for a few seconds while a lot of metallic noise of loose parts flying around under the hood. Took it to two mechanics, turned out the drive belt tensioner bolt snapped in half, half went into the block.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The transmission has a rattling noise. Little apple Toyota Honda told me that I would need to replace the entire transmission. I purchased the car from little apple a little over a year ago. I also purchased an extended warranty for two years. This repair will not be covered because they said that I have exceeded the mileage.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

My 2006 Honda Civic is eating through rear tires. The tires thread on the inside is wearing out. The alignment has been checked and reading through the blogs, a lot of people are having the same problem. I don't know what else to do. I don't feel safe in the car. The dealership (Honda) is not recognizing this problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

I was driving about 25mph on a residential street when I smelled rubber burning and then my car suddenly stopped working. We had it towed to a trusted friend's shop to see what the problem was and then to fix it. We found that the tensioner bolt was broken. Our mechanic has done lots of research on this problem and have found that other owners of 2006 Honda Civics are also having the same problem. He is in the process of trying to replace this bolt. I only have 75,000 miles on this Honda and am very disappointed with this fairly new car. I hope it can be fixed.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Sun visors on 2006 Honda Civic fail and need to be replaced repeatedly due to them not staying in the up position.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Brought my 2006 Honda Civic in for oil change and tire rotation and three times were told that they were wearing evenly and didn't need to rotate brought it some where else and was told that the tires were cupping on the inside and was told I needed a wheel alignment the mechanic wouldn't rotate because the cupping was so severe on the rear tires then I took it back to Honda and was told I needed updated control arms needless to say if they would have cracked in half I could have tires flyng off my car . I can not believe there is no recall on this item it can be very serious and Honda isn't picking up any of the cost I drive very far every day and now I am not sure howi feel about it with this car and don't feel I should have to worry about it or pay for Hondas mistakes.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

My Honda has been well taken care of. I have hand waxed it twice a year since I purchased it new in 2006. This past year, the paint on the roof and trunk began to peel off. The car now looks like its 20 years old and Honda refuses to do anything about it. Both visors on the car have broken 3 times, the trunk latch broke ruining 100. 00 worth of groceries and the tires continuously warp due to a defect in the year model. Now, after replacing the battery I cannot get the alarm system to stop sounding. This year model Civic is such a lemon.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

My 2006 Honda Civic driver side sun visor is broken and defective. Honda has issued a technical service bulletin but no recall. The drivers side sun visor can not be adjusted and hangs down in the way or view and I can not see the road to drive safely. Honda has refused to fix this under goodwill assistance and my cars warranty has just expired. Many other consumers have this same issue and Honda is not addressing it. Daily use to block the sun in your eyes when you are driving is the events leading to the failure. The consequences is that I can not see to drive safely. Either sun in my eyes or sun visor blocking view of road. The visor can not be adjusted, it is broken, it just hangs down in the line of sight. To date my local Honda dealer in el paso TX has refused to replace the defective part thus I am working with american Honda for their support to replace this defective part free of charge.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

2006 Honda Civic lx overly acidic battery that caused a small fire and damage to the positive cable resulting in a $500 replacement. . I think that Honda shoudl have to pay for the replacement cable due to an inferior design.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

The driver side visor split. It will not stay in position. Due to this, I have no visual protection from the sun when I drive. It is hazardous.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

The sun visor in my 2006 Honda Civic lx has broken twice now, where the visor will hang down in my line of sight. I am unable to secure it up or down. Both incidents occurred in the warm weather months when the car is very hot. First incident occurred within the warranty, ~20k miles and fixed by the dealer. Second incident began around 70k miles and worsened until the visor has completely broken. I have not fixed the visor this time, and feel that it is ridiculous to pay a dealer to fix a part which is clearly a manufacturer's defect.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

I experienced an acceleration problem on 2 occasion which prompted me to go online. Here I discovered that other people had experienced this issue and that there was a recall for Honda Civic 2 door models. What I want to know is why wasn't I contacted that there was a recall/national problem with cars like mine. Both incidents of lunging/jerking and being hard to stop the car happened (1st time: early July/ 2nd time late July). I told my dad the beginning of November in a conversation and he said to make an appointment immediately because it sounded like the Toyota acceleration type problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

The window visor on my 2006 Civic si has melted twice now and it posses a driving hazard. This is due to the fact that after the inside plastic is hit by direct sunlight the actual plastic clips melt and that causes the visor to suddenly flip down right into your line of vision.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

I purchased a used(2nd owner) 2006 Honda Civic in June 2010 with approx 60,000km. With a full inspection serviced by Honda and a brand new set of tires(98% tread). Since then I have only put on 25,000km and have already taking my car into the shop on 3 different occassions for severve "cupping" or uneven wear on the rear tires, after 25,000km I have already purchased another set of tires and those ones too are badly "cupping". 2 sets of new tires in under 2 years is not right! I have contacted Honda and they said " they haven't heard of problems with Hondas doing that" and said "that since I had my tires bought and serviced at a tire store, it is their concern!" they are not owning up or even regonizing the obvious defect that this car has. They offered to fix the issue for an amout of $900? are you kidding me? this is not a maintence issue or a part replacement it is a defect!!!! I should not have to pay for this, I should definately not have to pay for new tire every year either. . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Sun visors on 2006 Civic lx crack at the seam and no longer stay up and obstruct view.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Sun visors have malfunctioned. I am unable to lift the visors back to the "up" position. I fear that this will cause an accident. There have been people who have entered the vehicle and it there head because the visor is stuck in the "down" position.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

Sun visor started to split open two years ago at only 30,000 miles, problem has been getting worse, and now it is at the point where it just dangles in front of the eyes and won't even stay put. I have to move it to the side everytime I'm driving. Apparently, it is not covered under warranty, so I'll have to pay from my pocket to get it fixed.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

In August of 2006, I purchased a 2006 Honda Civic from bob howard automall in oklahoma city, oklahoma. Little did I know that this car was flawed from the beginning and Honda America knew it and did nothing to let any consumers know about this defect. The flaw in the car is that the rear axle is flawed and is causing tires to wear abnormally, thus causing flats and blowouts that consumers are unaware off. Currently there is no fix and Honda is unwilling to warrant any of the additional damage that their mistake has caused. This car that we own has had two blowouts on the rear tires and additional damage that was caused when we had to jump curbs to get out of the city traffic flow. Now Honda America wants to keep this flaw quiet and let consumers foot the bill for tires and any damage that this flaw from the manufacture has caused. Honda still has no fix and expects consumers to be aware of the problems. Cheers and concerned citizen.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

I have a Honda Civic 2006 (lease) this car has 2 recall one on 8/30/07 and on 11/07 but the dealer never sent me any warning, note, letter or call to notify this situation, I read that by fed law they should contact me and let me know the ricks that this issue can cause me. I called because I had a problem with my car keys code and they told about this and they said sorry because they do not know why I was not notify about this I very disappointed because that is very dangerous and I do not get notify at all, I had 3 cars with the Honda all 3 are lease cars so it is not excuse that they cannot contact me also I am living t the same place for more than one year and I got my Honda bill every month.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

According to the federal motor vehicle safety standards, standard 208 section 4. 5. 1(c), sun visors must have air bag warning labels. Honda currently provides these warnings on the sun visors. However, if the sun visor breaks, then I would be forced to remove the sun visor in order to operate the vehicle safely. Once outside the warranty period, the vehicle would no longer be operated in compliance with federal regulations. Honda is currently being sued in cooper, et al. V. American Honda motor CO. , inc. , case no. Bc 448670 because of the sun visor breaking on a regular basis. By settling the case, they are essentially admitting the sun visor is prone to breaking. I do not believe a car owner should pay to replace a requirement for federal standards.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

Both visors in passenger compartment failed, due to poor design. Welded plastic seam is not tough enough to handle spring tension, both failed and fell to down position all time, causes a visibility issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

I took the car to a Honda dealership because the back tires were wearing out prematurely on the inside. They replaced the upper control arms with the "supposedly" correct control arms marked c and did an alignment, but that did not solve the problem! I just bought a full set of new tires in July of 2010 and my car was aligned and I am about to need new tires again! in addition, the driver's visor fell off and was replaced. However, both visors fell off the second time, and are now held on with zip ties. There is a design flaw in the visor as well.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

I own a 2006 Honda Civic. I purchased it new and have been satisfied with the vehicle with one exception. The rear tires wear unevenly (flat spots) causing a roaring sound that is very annoying. Also, during high speed (45 - 70 mph) the vehicle vibrates as if the wheels were out of balance. This could present a safety hazard. When I first experienced this problem I thought that it may have been my fault for not rotating the tires as recommended in the owners manual. However, I have since discovered that rotating the tires and having the wheels balanced does absolutely nothing to correct the problem. During my research of the problem on the NHTSA website I found that there are many other Civic owners that are experiencing the same problem. During the past 5 years I have asked numerous Civic owners if they were experiencing similar problems with their vehicle. Nearly every one that I asked did in fact have the same problem with their vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

I purchased a brand new 2006 Honda Civic in January of 2006 from a dealership in auburn, wa. . Two weeks ago I noticed the a/c had stopped working, so I brought the car into the dealer to have it checked and repaired. The car has only 11,000 miles on it. I was told that it was not covered under warranty because the problem occurred in the condenser which is between the open grill of the bumper and the radiator. The condenser, made of approximately the same material as aluminum foil and actually aluminum, is completely unprotected. The problem, according to the mechanic is widespread and across new Honda models. If a small pebble or any other tiny hard element happens to strike the completely unprotected condenser it knocks a nearly invisible (we can't see it) hole in it, which in turn knocks out all a/c. I explained that this is a poor design to have absolutely no protection for this part. The person said, yes, they understand but can do nothing to help and that they see this every week. I was told to call Hondas consumer complaint line, which I did, and was told the same story and that they are looking into fixing it for future models. They all told me to claim it on insurance, that it is a road hazard problem. Obviously it's a design problem, and had I known about it I would have purchased a Toyota. Deductible on my insurance is $500. 00 and the cost to fix is $600. 00, it would make no sense to claim it and take the hit on insurance costs. Honda not only will not discuss any assistance for the present problem, but offers no fix to keep it from happening again. If I have this repaired tomorrow it could be knocked out again next week.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

The a/c condenser on my 2006 Honda Civic was damaged by a small pebble. The repair bill is $500. I believe this is a design issue with Honda.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

The trunk on our 2006 Civic ex coupe which was assembled in canada has had several problems since delivery. 1. Passenger & driver visors broke off 2. Foot pedal rest broke 3. Passenger side seat trim broke off 4. Trunk will not open at all. This includes pressing the button on the key or using the interior trunk release latch. 5. Rear speaker deck lid has come lose.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

My husband and I just finished and extensive search for a new car. I found very few cars that were comfortable to me due to the active head restraints. I am five feet four inches tall and I like my seat to be more upright. Unfortunately, when you put the seats in this position, the head rest forces your head down, chin to chest. This would not be a problem if I were a man with large shoulder muscles or if I liked my seat to be in a reclining position. My reaction to the restraints is that they feel very unsafe. When I checked the federal web site, I found that the government tested only for the size of an average man. Will the rest of us die or sustain incredible injury? I am really worried about this, especially after reading that the restraints come further forward in the event of a rear collision. Can you check into this problem? I have bought a Honda Civic, but I will have to have a pillow behind my shoulders to keep my head from being in an impossible position for driving. This is not about an accident but I am afraid their will be problems. I will put today's date in your form to make it work.
