1 Brake Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. While attempting to shift gears, the shift lever would not shift out of the park position due to a faulty brake light switch. In addition, the rear brake lights failed to illuminate. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v402000 (exterior lighting). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2 Brake Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact received a recall notice from Honda regarding the brake light switch on April 5, 2008. The dealer advised her to bring in the vehicle for inspection. Once inspected, the dealer stated that they had to order the repair part and would call her to schedule an appointment. The contact stated that the recall has been ongoing since the end of 2007 and the parts should be available by now. She is afraid to drive the vehicle because the brake lights may not illuminate. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 14,500. Updated 4/29/08.

3 Brake Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2008

The "brake system" indicator light came on, and the brake lights on the back of the car did not illuminate when the brake pedal was pushed. The car was also difficult to shift out of park. The repair was the replacement of the brake pedal switch, a known recall on Honda Civics from the previous model year.
