I financed a 2007 Honda Civic on July 30 2025, this car has a faulty fuel pump from roseville car group. There is no check engine light on, this just appeared this afternoon Aug 2nd 2025.
Engine block cracked. Coolant all leaked out of water jacket. (concurrent with TSB 10-048) yes it is available for inspection. Car over heated, while traveling at speed. Manufacturer is denying inspection. No warning lamps, or lights.
Steam blurred my vision while driving on a city street at low speed in my 2007 Civic from an apparent cracked engine block leaking coolant on hot engine from a known manufactures defect of engine blocks produced in the factory for the years 2006 to 2009 Civics 1. 8l engine . The bulletin # was 10 048 TSB. Car is over the age cutoff for the free new engine from hinda. So I am stuck with an unsafe broken car from the companies defect per Honda corp. Representatives.
Vehicle would not start. Car engine cracked which is a safety issue and known issue to Honda for this model and year of the Civic. I had my three kids, including an infant in the car. Took it to Honda where they explained that there was an extended warranty that we had just missed. My car is in impeccable shape with low mileage (80,000). Honda refused to cover the engine crack in full (expecting us to play 3,000), stating that we were not loyal Honda customers as our other car was a Toyota. The car had recently been serviced by Honda and the airbag recall was fixed. At that point, they should have communicated to us regarding the engine and the changes to warranty based on the known issue.
I cant open gas cover but I can open the truck of the car.
On August 31, 2017 while I was driving on the highway, the car stopped running and smoke came out of the hood suddenly. Fortunately I managed to pull over the car to a safe place immediately beside the highway otherwise I would have been in a fatal situation. I had the car towed to the dean Honda at pittsburgh where they performed the diagnosis to find the root cause of the problem. They identified that there was crack in the engine block which has caused the coolant to leak from the engine and hence overheating of the engine has happened. They told me that the engine has to be replaced and few other parts as well (like spark plug etc. ) to make the car running again which would cost me around $4000. I did some research over the internet regarding this issue and found that most of the 2006 to 2009 Civics had the engine crack issue and TSB 10-048 was issued and the warranty of such engines were extended to 10 years and that would cover the replacement of the engine if such issues are found. I checked with my service consultant at dean Honda if this would be covered under the extended warranty. He did a VIN inquiry and said the warrant has expired 10 days ago and this won't be covered. (the original purchase date of the car was 22-Aug-2007 and this incident happened to me on 31-Aug-2017). This is a big blow to me. This is my first car in the us. I bought this car as the second owner in July 2015 with only 36000 miles on it and I have hardly driven 15000 miles over the past two years without any issues. The previous owner also never had any issues with it and that's why I purchased it with confidence. Considering customer's safety, these engines needs to be recalled by Honda and replaced with new ones or at least the warranty of these engines needs to be extended further (for at least for 5 more years). I was lucky enough to survive a fatal accident.
The 2007 Honda Civic si (manual transmission) includes a "drive-by-wire" fuel throttle system that simulates leaving your foot on the accelerator even when your foot has been removed from the pedal when attempting to shift gears or attempting to decelerate. This condition presents a safety threat as well as necessitating excessive braking force causing unnecessary premature wearing of the brake lining and rotors. A TSB was released for the 2006 Honda Civic si that attempts to address this same issue. However, this correction is either not addressed on the 2007 model or not sufficiently addressed to correct the safety threat caused by this condition.
Under humid conditions, the main battery of this hybrid suddenly drains, leaving the car without the electric motor. In this vehicle, this means that there is very limited torque (normally supplied by the electric motor). This first occurred in the summer of 2007 and has continued with increasing frequency to the present time. This brought to the attention of the selling dealership (southern motors of savannah) in August of 2007 and at the end of September of the same year. They claimed they could find nothing wrong despite being shown photographic evidence of the failure. The car was returned to the dealership on August 8, 2008 with further proof of the problem. The have claimed that they contacted american Honda and were told that Honda was aware of the problem but had found no solution. The car was returned to me on August 27, 2007 with the condition unresolved.
