Sunvisor on the drivers side just hangs down and blocks drivers view of the road. It will not stay up out of the way.
Sun visors for Honda Civic 2007 coupe crack (both passenger and driver side).
Sun visor on driver's side splits open causing it to sag and block the drivers view. There is no way to make it stay up.
The driver's side visor is defective. It appears as though the seal on the hinge for the visor has come undone (not due to any excess force, simply due to general everyday use). The defective hinge on the visor leads to the inability to properly position the visor, when in use, or not in use. When in use, this creates a safety hazard due to obstructing the driver's vision by the visor itself due to inability to properly position the visor (it does not stay in place), or affecting the driver's vision due to not being able to properly shield glare and sun due to the inability to properly position the visor while driving. When not in use, the visor may not stay in place, therefore "flopping" in front of the driver's line of vision. This is a safety concern that, when researched on the internet, is large problem with Honda Civic owners like myself. This has not yet caused me to have an accident, but I'm trying to be proactive in preventing such an incident. I have tried multiple times to speak with my Honda service people, and I've been told this is not covered under warranty. However, the service people have told me they see this complaint "all the time. " this is a safety defect that needs to be addressed and properly handled. Thank you for looking into this matter.
The sunvisor on my 07 Honda Civic cracked and hangs down, obstructing my view (especially of signal lights). This occurred on it's own. I don't pull it down often, so it's received no sort of abuses nor anything that could have possibly caused a break. . Read more...
Sunvisor of 2007 Honda Civic cracked; visor hangs down, impairing vision.
2007 Honda Civic sunvisors break - repeatedly, and hang in view of driver. I have had driver and passenger visor break and understand it is a defect that Honda does not recognize or support. Honda dealer admits that nearly all Honda Civics have had this problem.
Plastic driver's side sun visor separated at seam during warm weather and no longer maintained up or down position. Visor became an obstruction to the driver's vision and could only be removed from view with constant pressure or complete removal.
The sunvisor in my 2007 Honda Civic split at the seams and will no longer stay up. It hangs down into my field of vision. I have talked to several other Honda owners and the same thing has happened to them- and with replacement parts that they have purchased. Apparently the Honda sunvisors break in high heat. Mine exploded on July 24- when the heat was in the 100s.
2007 Honda Civic sun visor cracks/splits and drops in front of your face while driving. . . . . Very dangerous. Common issue for Honda Civic owners which needs to be addresses by Honda. . Read more...
The sun visors on both the driver and passenger side failed. The poor design of the visors is the reason for the failure. The amount of force required to move the sun visor up or down eventually "unwelds" the plastic front from the plastic back. The result is the visor is stuck in the down position resulting in a safety issue.
I own a 2007 Honda Civic that was bought new in July 2007. In August 2007 the driver's side sun visor came apart and was hanging down making it hard to see when driving. Since the car was still under warranty the dealer replaced it for free. At the time they had told us they replaced numerous visors. Now it's August 2010 and it's broken again. The car is now out of warranty and the dealer will not replace the visor for this reason. This is a safety concern because when it comes apart it hangs straight down and can't be pushed up to stay. I have read online forums where numerous people are having problems with this issue. When I called the Honda dealer where I live now in tennessee they said they have replaced a 'ton" of the visors. Obviously Honda has an issue with this and it needs to be recalled.
The driver's side sun visor of my 2007 Honda Civic has suddenly split and will not stay up. It hangs down obstructing my view of the road-a safety hazard. It doesn't stay all the way up or down. It has split at the plastic seam & the spring mechanism seems to be broken. This sun visor was replaced by the dealer when I bought the car new, as the color was tan and my car is grey. My car is no longer under warranty & I am taking it to the dealer for a replacement. This seems to be a problem related to heat in the cabin. I live in the south but leave my front windows open 2 inches as I have side visors & do not park in a garage.
The Honda 07 Civic sun visors are defective and must be recalled! the heat causes the visors to crack and become suspended in the down position. After it cracks it will not lock in the up position. The Honda dealership admits this is a common problem and I must pay to have it fixed now that my warranty has expired! this will be the second time I've replaced both visors.
Passenger sun visor cracked due to heat and will not stay in up position or correct slanted position for correct visibility. Appears to be a common problem on google blog sites where Honda is aware of the problem but is ignoring the issue (I. E. , replacement part is the same defective part that fails again).
2007 Honda Civic ex 4 door (60,000 miles), drivers side sun visor split open at the seam and now hangs down and blocks forward and side line of sight. I believe this to be a safety issue. This happened once earlier when my car was under warranty. The dealer gladly fixed it. My car is now out of warranty and I don't want to pay 100+ bucks for a design issue that I'm not responsible for.
My driver side sun visor in my 2007 Honda Civic ex suddenly fell from the stored position and wouldn't go back up in place. I was merging onto the interstate when this happened and it came down directly into my line of site and I couldn't see for a moment. My fiance's sister has the same car and it happened to her also. Took it to the dealership and asked for a replacement and the service guy said it is a known defect and Honda told them not to replace them for free anymore. This to me is a serious safety concern. If you look it up on the internet many people have had the same issue with this. Honda knows it is a problem or they wouldn't have redesigned a replacement for it.
Drivers side visor split open on hot day and will no longer stay up or down. Impacts visibility.
Sun visor failed, resulting in reduced visibility.
Driver's side sun visor split open and blocks line of sight because it won't stay up or at any angle and goes straight down, blocking the visibility of street lights especially. I have to go into Honda to have it fixed now and don't know if my warranty covers a simple sun visor or not, but if not I have seen reports online that this is going to cost me about $100. I could use the "in this tough economy" line, but regardless of the economy who wants to spend $100 on something so simple and silly as a faulty sun visor because a multi-billion dollar corporation doesn't want to spend a few bucks of their money on making this right? sorry this got a little editorial but it is just frustrating.
Sunvisor on passenger side has split and will not stay up. This is annoying and a safety hazard. The drivers side did the same thing while car was still under warranty therefore Honda replaced it for free. This is an ongoing problem for many people I don't understand why Honda has not given this issue some attention in redesigning. I guess its a good money maker because the cost is not cheap. This is something you would never think you would have to replace on a car.
2007 Honda Civic ex sunvisor broke and it now limits visability.
Putting down my sun visor caused something to crack, and now it will not go up and it is constantly blurring my vision and I have to tape it to the roof of my car. Nothing has been done to fix it. This is a common occurrence with the vehicle in question.
Driver side and passenger side visors fell apart almost like they melted. I don't think they fixed it the first time I brought it in. Now they are saying it isn't covered under warranty. They knew the visor design was flawed. Now I can't move either visors from my view.
1. Nothing happened to lead up to it. It just broke. 2. Driver side sun visor split and won't stay up. It is safety issue when driving as it's always falling down and constantly taking my attention away from the road to try and get it to stay up or to the side. 3. Tried to find a used one, but no luck. Honda wants me to pay to replace it.
2007 Honda Civic driver's side visor split open just a few months after it was purchased in may 2007. Dealer could not replace right away because visors were on back order because so many had failed. Since that time I have made sure visor was never left in the down position, however the visor split open again while in the up position. I was only out of the car for 30 minutes. The mileage is 53000, so it is no longer under warranty. This appears to be a manufacturers defect, especially seeing how many others have had the same experience. Can Honda not be made to replace or redesign these visors.
Our 2007 Honda Civic sun visor has broken twice. The first time was only a month or so after purchasing brand new from the dealer. When the sun visor breaks, it dangles in front of the driver's view. Whether in the front or pushed to the side, the broken sun visor tilts down and dangles in a distracting way which is dangerous for the driver of the Civic. The sun visor was very poorly designed by Honda. Structurally speaking, the torsional resistance required to rotate the visor from the up position to the down position wasn't correctly designed for. The result is that the internal plastic clamps that are supposed to resist all forces from the internally rotating metal arm, fail and after these plastic clamps internally get torn apart, the sun visor dangles oddly in front of the driver and causes a dangerous distraction. This poorly designed sun visor fails very easily under normal use, and gives no warning of distress, before failing suddenly. This sun visor should be recalled and replaced with a correctly designed sun visor that won't brake and cause this safety issue.
2007 Honda Civic driver's side visor split and no longer lays flat against the roof, creating a visibility problem.
Driver's side visor was loose and did not stay in the full up or full down position reliably, trouble began a year after delivery and gradually became worse. In June, 2010, the visor suddenly split open and the visor hung loosely and would stay in the up position. I repaired the visor by clamping the split parts together with a u-shaped piece of stainless steel. Seems to be holding for now.
The sun visor in my Honda keeps falling apart and sometimes it falls right in front of my face which is a safety issue. I see online this is happening to a lot of Honda owners. Can you do anything about it? this is the second visor that went bad. It is very distracting when you are driving.
I have owned a Honda Civic for at least 2 year maybe mores. Its a 2007 model. I had been living in chicago (had moved there) since the end of 2008 (December to be exact-making it almost the beginning of January 2009. I lived there till April 2010. We then moved back to texas. I had not had a problem with the visor until a month and a half later before my girlfriends and I left for a trip to dallas. The visor refused to stay up. I have not however had the money to buy a new one until l now. Still I find this very risky and very much of a safety issue.
There is a design flaw with 2007 Honda Civics, which is a potential safety issue. The sun visors split in hot weather, which causes them to no longer be adjustable to block the sun while driving.
Honda Civic models 2006 and 2007 have defective sun visors. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of reported cases online. Twice in the past 14 months, I have been driving when my sun visor unexpectedly split at the seam and suddenly fell into my line of sight. Both times I was startled and my vision was obstructed while operating the car at speeds exceeding 60 mph. Fortunately, I was able to avoid an accident both times. I am on my 3rd visor, but feel uneasy behind the wheel, worried it will happen again. Additionally, when waiting for a service appointment, I am forced to drive without a functional visor, and have been temporarily blinded by the sun on more than one occasion. I called Honda and spoke with "morris" who readily admitted that this is a common complaint that they receive, but Honda was unwilling to do anything on my behalf since my car is no longer under warranty. I still have the last faulty sun visor.
Sun visor broke. I put my sun visor down to block the sun coming in my eyes, and when I went to lift it back up, it 'snapped' and won't go back up to the locked up right position. I took it to Honda while I had my oil change to have them look at it, and they said it would be 100 dollars plus labor to change it. I refused to pay for it, and have since looked and seen many other complaints of the same type. Maybe this should be recalled!.
I own a 2007 Honda Civic with 40,000 miles on it. The sunvisors on this vehicle are complete junk. I already had the oem sunvisors replaced, and now the replacements have broken in exactly the same way. The Honda dealer attempted to tell me that it was my fault the visors had broken, when it is extremely obvious that in fact they melt every time the temperature goes over 90 in my area. I have found numerous complaints of this exact same issue online and would like to let you know that it is not just a problem in the southwest. Having a sunvisor flop into your eyes/line of vision or not being able to properly block sun from your vision are both safety issues. It is completely irresponsible of Honda not to replace something as inexpensive as a sunvisor at their own expense.
