36 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2010

My 2007 Honda Civic began having a loud sound coming from the drivers rear wheel. Upon looking on the internet I found a safety recall notice from Honda - service bulletin # 07-055 for rear abs wheel speed sensor and o-ring inspection. It stated that some sensors were not installed properly and water may enter the hub assembly damaging the wheel bearings. In areas where road salt is used, the wheel bearings may corrode, which may result in the wheel falling off. I live in an area where road salt is used. My vehicle VIN number was listed within the range of potentially effected vehicles on the recall, but I never received a recall notice. I contacted Honda customer service, explained that my car has the wheel bearing issue as stated in the recall. They stated that my vehicle was not effected and only certain vehicles in the notice were effected, not all vins listed. They stated my vehicle would not be covered under the recall even if my vehicle has the defect. I took my vehicle to a service repair center which confirmed that my rear wheel bearing was bad and corroded. The car is only 3 years old and this should not have occurred. I had the exact problem as stated in the recall and feel that Honda should expand the recall to include all the vehicles they have listed in the recall notice. It's obvious more vehicles are effected than they thought. If they list a range of VIN numbers than they should check all on the list, not just pick and choose which ones they think might have the problem.

37 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2010

When I originally purchased this vehicle at $14,000 miles I immediately started to hear noise from the tires at highway speed but it wasnt until my failed inspection that I noticed the severity of the uneven wear/ear on mainly the back tires. Due to a control arm recall, I went to Honda in order to get this fixed and purchased my own tires at the time since they wouldnt cover it. Unfortunately, about 19,000 miles later, again my inspection failed due to the tires. I had replaced it again but at this time Honda would not do anything and told me that it is past the warranty point and if I bring it in and they find that there's something wrong, I would have to pay for it as its not covered under my general warranty. I dont get this because clearly it is a manufactures recall and I shouldnt have to pay for this plus my tires every 19,000 miles. I purposely chose to buy a Honda because they are known to be economical and reliable. None of which my '07 Honda Civic ex has been. I tried taking it out with new tires during the snow; biggest mistake. Even driving in the rain is a hazard. This should be a huge warning for those who are in the market for a Honda Civic. These cars are not woth the price if the tires are not reliable. Tires are an important sector of a car. This is really dissapointing and I would not think twice about taking this matter to court.

38 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2010

The rear suspension and the rear upper control arm cause excessive and premature wear on tires requiring replacement of premium tires after only 20,000 miles or less. My car has about 80k miles and is in need of its 4th set of tires. Needles to say the wear create unsafe conditions while driving faster than 50mph making driving on the interstate a risky endeavor.

39 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

I purchased car from Honda dealership in may 2008; a Honda service bulletin regarding problem with rear upper control arms was issued in February 2008. Therefore, the dealership knew of the problem, but did not fix it or inform me prior to purchasing vehicle. Around February 2010, I started experiencing severe problems with the handling of my car. It vibrated and shook aggressively at highway speeds and I had absolutely no control over the vehicle whatsover on wet roads. It felt like only two wheels were on the ground at any given moment. At 42k miles in July 2010, I replaced the tires at ntb. (I thought issues were related only to bad tires. ) now, 30k miles and a little over a year later, I am experiencing the exact same problems. Severe vibration, loss of control. My car feels like a death trap that I don't have the money to buy my way out of. After investigating the problem online and discovering that the car had a manufacturing flaw, I feel like I have been scammed by Honda.

40 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2009

Front left wheel bearing and left rear wheel bearing need to be replaced after 80,000 miles on these 2007 Honda Civics.

41 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2009

I have a 2007 Honda Civic lx. Today I took it to meinike to get my oil change and tires rotated. There was no tread left on the inner tires. I've rotated my tires every 6k miles and now I'm at 28k miles. The mechanic said I don't even know how you made it here. He didn't want to put them back on because their worn to the core. There is also no tread left. I didn't even know, but when I did a google search I found there was a recall on it. Honda said they wouldn't pay to have the tires fixed from their defect.

42 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2009

Rapid tire wear occurred on the inner portions of both rear tires. The problem was discovered after noticing much road noise and having the tires rotated. Two new tires were purchased and the rear upper control arms were replaced. The problem still exists to this day after consulting two different Honda garages they both confirmed that the rear control arms were installed correctly and are within spec. Both garages recommended replacing the tires again, but this is becoming very costly. The ride of the car over the last year has gotten significantly worse and now I'm noticing braking problems. The car hops in the back when applying the brakes at highway speeds. Honda is denying the problem and has offered no compensation.

43 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

Both of my rear wheel bearings failed on my 2007 Honda Civic.

44 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2009

I have to replace the tires every 30000 miles due to uneven tire wear. I guess there is a known problem with a faulty rear arms that Honda keeps ignoring after so many complaints. Sure way to lose customers when you pride your self in quality but not delivering.

45 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2009

I purchased a slightly used Civic from a dealer in January of 2009 and began to drive it on icy roads in ontario winter. My wife who usually drives the car complained she was scared to drive it if there was any ice on the road surface because the car would suddenly shift position sideways in the lane. I found the rear tires worn out very fast on the inside of both wheels. I did some research and found out Honda had issued a service bulletin to replace the rear upper struts with a longer unit. The dealer did not disclose this information when I bought the car but after I brought it up volunteered to replace them and negotiated with me for half the replacement cost of the tires. I thought this would solve the problem. The next set of rear tires also wore prematurely on the inside in about 25000 miles. When I called the Honda dealer he told me I needed an alignment. I paid for an alignment at an independent garage and was told the real wheels could not b adjusted to correct the negative camber. I went back to the dealer who told me that Honda did not recognize this defect and the warranty would not cover any remedy. He did a free realignment for me with difficulty and said to rotate my tires more often. I tried that and my next set of tires wore out on the inside just the same. The dealer did say there was an aftermarket part that may correct the problem but I would have to pay for the installation ($600). I have about 180000 kilometers on the vehicle. The vehicle makes rear noise and the vibration cannot be good for the vehicle. This could be a safety issue.

46 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2008

I am on my 3rd set of tires on a car that has 58,000 miles. Research shows that this is a common problem on Honda Civics for 2006-2007. There seems to be a problem/defect in the design of the car and Honda is not standing behind their product. We need help.

47 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

Honda civi 2007 lx coupe; noise coming from wheels/tires. Took to dealer they said tires. Went to tire dealer, they said not tires but rims. Noise gets really bad around 70. This has been ongoing for a few months. Getting expensive, frustrated.

48 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2008

Small vibration heard in the rear of the car. Took car in for routine maintenance, told them of sound coming from the rear of car. They informed us that there was a service bulletin on the car, advising them to replace the upper control arms and tires. Parts were on back order. Reported on 5/22, today is 6/9, part still not replaced. Honda refusing to replace tires, even though defective part caused rear tire to ware unevenly and rapidly. Fear this is a safety issue and am concerned about driving on the highway.

49 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

Rear tire wear to the belts. No adjustment of camber possible. Owner has no way to prevent this dangerous and expensive wear. These vehicle should all be recalled and rear camber adjustable components installed regardless of vehicle miles. Wear happens very quickly and is not shown at all on the front tires which have a fully adjustable suspension.

50 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2007

Car rear end moves from side to side in adverse conditions such as ice and snow even driving at what should be a safe speed. Even on dry tar or concrete I notice something is not right. The tires wear unevenly on the rear. The 1st time I brought the car in on 12-13-07 at 5,622 miles the rear tires were shot and Honda blamed it on me. Bulletin # 08-011 (rear upper control arm kit) was performed on 1-24-08 and seemed to help some. That didn't solve the problem because on 2-12-09 at 14,489 miles the tires were shot. After that tire replacement the car was aligned all around and so I thought maybe that would solve the problem. Since then I still noticed the rear end was still unstable and went in several times to get the problem resolved and each time they either blamed it on me or said there was no problem. Then on 1-12-2011 at 38,359 miles and another week at the Honda shop I come to find out the tires are again worn badly on both rear inside edges. The only offer Honda cooperation has made is to replace the tires with them only paying some of the cost but no permanent solution. The 3rd set of tires I put on were the best cooper tires and still had the problem so I know replacing the tires again will not solve the problem. I and my family feel unsafe in this car especially under certain conditions. More important to me then anything is the safety of my family and I hope Honda will understand this and find a permanent solution before an accident happens at a result of this. Honda suggested trading the car in for something else but I can not pass this safety hazard on to another person and feel good about it.

51 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2007

I have purchased, in the last 5 years, 5 different sets of tires because of ¿cupping of my rear tires due to a defect in the rear suspension. I was told on 2 occasions by 2 different Honda dealers that the problem in my rear suspension had been solved. The last service was 10 months ago; I purchased my fifth set of tires and now have to replace them again.

52 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2007

2007 Honda Civic lx sedan has exhibited chassis vibration and wheel noise at highway speeds. Passenger side rear tire is cupping. Three visits to two Honda dealership service facilities has not corrected this chronic problem.

53 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. While approaching an exit ramp at 60 mph, the contact discovered that the ramp was full and tried to maneuver the vehicle to remain on the highway. He slammed on the brakes, but the vehicle did not decelerate or stop. He lost control of the vehicle and struck the guard rail. The contact sustained minor injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle sustained major damages. Honda was not notified because the cause of the failure was unknown. He received a recall letter (q56) regarding the wheels on October 1, 2007. The current and failure mileages were 7,000.

54 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2007

The control arms on 2006-2007 Honda Civics are defective which causes uneven tire wear in the rear tires. The inside edge of the tires go bald quickly and the rear end of the car begins to 'jump' around on the highway. There is a service bulletin issued by Honda (08-001), but they will not fix the problem. The car feels very unstable on the highway. We have had to replace the tires and get an alignment every year.

55 Wheel problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2007

I purchased this 2007 Honda Civic coupe new in may of 2007. There was a class action suit and subsequent recall for the rear upper control arms that caused severe uneven tire wear and vibration. The problem I have is that the fix did not fix the problem and Honda will not stand behind making it right. The replacement arms do not provide sufficient latitude in the adjustment in camber. There are after market fixes for this. My concern is that the tire wear and subsequent handling while driving are a hazard on the road. This may also be cause for a new class action suit, as the original "fix" was not a fix.
