1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2021

The car drip weather trim are coming out, needs replacement which cost significantly high, I have observed this in many cars of eight generation Honda Civic, including my car. It needs investigation and decide, because of losing this trim. , car inside is leaking in rain, the seal is not proper. This will be safety concern overtime.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2020

I just bought a Honda Civic si mugen fiji blue the clear coat start flaking coming out paint starts fading its 2008 car its not a 1990 I see cars older than mine with better paint job its a cheap paint job Honda used in the first place thats not fair now its gonna cost me 4 to 5 k at least.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2019

My car went from normal temp to extremely overheating in about three minutes of idling. I have had this problem off and on over the last three years, including while driving, and have had to add coolant about five times in the last for years. The mechanic could never find the problem until today. I have to replace the radiator. The engine block recall should be extended, and she definitely included the radiator since father's cherry where the problem starts.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2019

Paint defect should extend it to fix the paint issues. Clear coat as well.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2019

My car will not open which causes a huge concern because if I go out, then I have to leave a door unlocked because it's not guaranteed that I can get into my car again and people could potientially think that I am trying to break into my own car. When I drive, the locks unlock and lock again while driving. This started getting worse after I got an oil change and as I was in the parking lot pulling out, my car completely died. I could not move it or anything. I drove around the parking lot with it dying and then restarting it. It finally worked and I haven't had a problem with it dying completely but now my locks won't unlock unless it's early in the morning.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2019

Once paint was recalled but not for the body of car that is doing the same. Paint is peeling on top of car and on both doors. Also sun visors were recal yet they are broke again. Also car has 11633 miles and I have replaced brakes 3 times.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2018

Coolant leak from the radiator. New head gaskets, new seals. Mystery coolant leak, coolant pushes from the radiator to the overflow, leaving radiator low coolant. New seals and new water pump, no drips or indication of leaking.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2018

Water leaking at side panel at air bag on passenger side. According to Honda no recall. However while researching it appears a ton of complaints. The dripping of water was noticed during heavy rainfall.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2018

Horn randomly going off, while stationary and while driving. Its a steady beep as if someone is laying on the horn. This past Saturday the horn was going off for hours until I returned home. I had to get in the car and tap the steering well and it stopped. It went off again this morning. A mechanic said that its the airbag pushing pressure on the horn. This has been going on a month or so.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

Passenger side sun visor where attached to clamp on to hinge mechanism has come apart. The little teeth that are inside are thin plastic and have broken off. Visor can only stay in the straight up and down position, and cannot be used on the side window because it bounces and is unstable. This was not the result of any accident. For some reason it won't let me add the pictures, but I can email them to you if tell me where to send them.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

The horn beeps (like that of an alarm) as soon as I start the car until I turn it off. The Honda dealership needs more than $135. 00 just to open the hood. Nobody else will touch it. I had the horn disconnected and now have nothing!.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2018

I bought a set of four(4) dextero dtr1 205/55/r16 tires in February 2017. Within a year 3 of the 4 tires had rot on the inside wall, which was not visible, and the tire blew up while driving it. While researching this problem I learned that other dextero dtr1 model tires have been found to have the exact same defect my tires had, but because my tire is a different size tire it is not part of the recall. Since my tires have the same defects that the other tires did, and because it has been determined that this defect can kill people, I believe that this recall should cover these same tires and the manufacturer should in good faith replace these tires with some that won't put my life at risk.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

Sun visor was rcalled and fixed but it is still doing the same thng it was recalled for.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

Defective engine mount causing loud vibration when starting car in cold temperatures. 57k miles, no abnormal use. In searching the internet, this seems to be a common problem for Honda Civics in the mid-late 2000s, likely manufacturing/design problem.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2017

I am having an ongoing problem where my vehicle suddenly begins to rev up and accelerate forward. This issue first happened in February 2017. I was in a fast-food drive thru with my foot on the brake (automatic transmission). The engine began to rev up to 3000 rpms. I shifted into park which caused it to rev at 5000. At that point, I shut off the car. I started it again and the car was fine. I contacted Honda of north America. They sent an attorney out to talk to me at my local dealership. Honda kept my car most of the day and told me they found nothing wrong. They even insinuated that maybe I had my foot on the gas pedal. . . I've been driving for over 15 years. I think I would know if my foot was on the gas pedal. . . They told me that my car was safe and that if it happened again I should contact them. . . The problem occurred again on April 24th at lax airport. I was at the toll both paying for my parking after a trip. The car began to rev up just like before. I through the car in park and it almost red-lined. I shut the car off. The woman at the toll both witnesses the incident. I told her to get her supervisor and anyone else that could come over. Honda did not take me seriously the first time clearly! her supervisor came over. I explained the situation to him and asked him to film the car as I started it up again. He began to film and I turned the ignition. The car was revving at 4000 and rising from the moment I started it. I immediately shut it off. It did this two more times. The final time I started it, the car revved normal. I paid my fee and the woman raised the gate. As I pulled out, the car jerked forward and pulled me into traffic. I was nearly t-boned by a taxi. I pulled over and restarted the car. It was fine after that. I contacted Honda and they refused to reinspect the car unless I would pay out of pocket. The car has not done it since. Thank you.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2017

Sun visor from drivers side fall down.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

Sunvisor splits apart. Warranty extension 7 years or 100,000 miles via service bullitin 11-031 dated 10may11. Honda did not send notice to owner. Visor replaced 16jul10 under original warranty. Vehicle has only 44,000 miles. Replacement visor has again split apart and just hangs down, blocking vision. Honda states it will not replace visor as the vehicle is more than 7 years old. Honda used defective visors in its new vehicles, and then replaced the defective visors with the same defective parts. Honda should be required to replace the visors with parts that are not defective.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2016

I have had to have the sun visor/airbags on my 2008 Honda Civic replaced 3 times because something keeps popping in them. Honda replaced the first 3 times under warranty. The fourth time it popped, Honda said that they were out of warranty and they would not replace them for free. I feel Honda should still be responsible for the replacements, as they keep replacing the sun visors with the same old crappy ones that break within 2 years. Hopefully, we can get Honda to take the responsibility for knowingly replacing the parts, with parts they know are defective.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2016

Speed limit was 25 and was going 80, ran over a stop sign and nearly did it twice with children in the back seat.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

I purchased a 2008 Honda Civic ex in 2009. A few years after purchase the drivers side sun visor broke at the seams. It was replaced under warranty. Several years ago the same visor broke in the same spot. The dealer sold/installed a new one but I had to pay for it as Honda would only cover it once. Today the visor is breaking again in the same spot and in a new area. I feel pretty sure if I take it in I will be told it will not be covered under warranty. I have owned 4 Civic ex's and none have had this problem just the 08' a google search shows they have had defects with this sun visor and settle and out of court settlement to replace but not assume responsibility for the problem. In my opinion it is a safety issue as without a sun visor vision is obstructed for the driver.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2016

Driver's side sun-visor split at the rear edge while driving. This limited the motion of the visor causing it to be flipped down while driving obscuring the view of the road for the driver. This caused driver distraction.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

I have a 2008 Honda Civic ex (coupe) that has serious paint issues on the roof. The black paint has started to turn into a corroded looking awfulness.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2015

Paint is peeling on roof. Last week as I was loading a toddler into the vehicle, he managed to grab a piece of chipped paint and put it in mouth. I did some researched and discovered that Honda had issues with this particular paint. However, they are not taking responsibility since I missed their deadline. I am grateful that I was able to intercede and take the piece of paint out of my nephew's mouth and prevent him from going to the emergency room but could you imagine the potential risks out there. Based on my research it is common for this paint to chip on the roof and trunk, and I cannot believe that Honda is simply looking the other way. I guess we only have to wait and see the repercussions of their negligence and hope that drivers are vigilant when loading/unloading unruly toddlers from these questionable vehicles.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2015

Clear coat & paint still fading after it was repainted by cleobay Honda in 2014. Side airbag warning light is on most of the time for no reason. Sun visor's where replaced twice last in 2014 and are broken again. They will not stay up or down.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2015

This car is overall good but its paint quality started to become chalky and discolored on the roof and trunk in 2015. I wonder if this is going to get covered by Honda America because this issue makes my car look ugly and so the value becomes affected. Note: I park my car in my garage most of the time in California.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

As I was driving through I-95, I noticed that the interior roof lining mostly on the rear area started flapping and sagging. It was blocking my rear view vision, which was very dangerous when driving at high speeds. I was forced to shoulder at i95 because of this and closed my windows just to avoid the distraction. It was still sagging yet no flapping occurred, I exited prematurely at i95 to drive to the side streets to be safe. Now the reason why it was flapping in the wind is because I was forced to open my windows because of another Honda Civic problem, an a/c problem that was unresolved for almost two months. I kept going back and forth to service centers to have it fixed but no leakage was found. My a/c was not working and was later found out that the compressor malfunctioned. It was a series of unpleasant events then that involved my Honda Civic aside from the tires that I need to replace 3 times in a span of three years. .

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

The paint on the back of my roof and the top of my trunk has been slowly peeling off over the last few years. I have seen the same peeling paint pattern on several other Honda Civics in the 2007-2010 range. This is clearly a defect.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2015

My son was involved in a car crash with a large SUV. He hit them from the rear. My Honda Civic went under the bumper of the large SUV. Due to the impact my bumper tore off, my headlights broke, my hood was smashed in and the front end of the car was smashed in. Why weren't the air bags deployed?? that is our concern? my son could have died in this crash due to faulty air bags. We have pictures of the crash. Our main concern is the air bags not being deployed. I would like to notify Honda corp of this incident.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Vehicle is a 2008 Civic si mugen painted in fiji blue pearl. Paint and clear-coat are oxidizing, chipping and peeling. When we've complained about this to the authorized service departments, the existence of a known problem has been denied and it's been stated this issue is 'normal wear & tear', which it clearly is not. We just found out yesterday there was actually a TSB (TSB 14-034) put out on this, along with a warranty extension that is now expired. According to the TSB, owners were being notified of the warranty extension. We have never received notification and as stated above, when we've complained, we've been told there was no problem. The cost to fix this will be significant and as time goes by, the paint issue is becoming worse.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

The paint is coming off my blue 2008 Civic lx coupe. The roof and hood look like the paint just peeled off.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

2 things: 1) the passenger side visor broke for no reason. It now hangs in the way of my vision. It doesn't stay up. It is a hazard. I can't have a passenger sit there because it completely obstructs their view. 2) the paint is damaged. Server all spots are "worn out".

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2014

I was rear ended at low speed at the end of September. The bumper was replaced and when I got my car back, I started noticing changes in vision, headaches, and hearing loss. About two weeks later, I was traveling on the highway at about 70 mph when I started feeling faint. I pulled over to the side of the road and thought I was well enough to drive. I got back on the highway and started to feel worse. My vision dimmed, my left hand started cramping, I started sweating and shaking, and a very nearly fainted while operating the vehicle. I was able to pull over and call 911 and was taken to the hospital. The doctors could not find anything wrong with me. The following week, I had issues with forgetfulness, disorientation, and impaired vision and hearing. My roommate, who drove the car home from where I left it on the side of the road to go to the hospital, also felt strange after she drove it. I've since been to a neurologist and a cardiologist and neither can find an issue with me and agree it must be something related to the car. The longer I've been away from the car, the better I've felt. I've taken the car to an independent repair shop and a dealership and neither can find the source of the issue. It's not carbon monoxide (I have a sensitive detector in my car), but it has to be some substance. The independent shop found a hole in the sealing around the rear quarter panel, which was resealed, but I drove it this weekend and started having issues again. I was traveling at about 60 mph when something came out of the air vents. Immediately after breathing it, I felt strange again and my vision and hearing are again impaired. I am about to junk the car and sell it for scraps because I don't want anyone else becoming ill from driving it. There are no lights to indicate that there is a problem but clearly there is. I am able to drive other cars without issue.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

The car was vibrating so hard that it felt like the motor was going to fall out. According to two mechanics this is very early for this type of problem in a car with less than 50000 miles. Had to replace the lower rear engine motor mounts and the front right engine mount.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

While driving down the freeway, I could hear a vibration coming from the passenger window and when I looked over, I could see part of the rubber seal, that holds the windshield in place, flapping in the breeze. After examining the seal on both the driver side and the passenger side, the top half of the seal is no longer there. With the rainy season approaching, I am worried that water will get into the inside of the car and cause the windshield to pop out. This is differently a safety issue.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

Defective paint job.
