1 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2017

On or about December 21, 2017 and on December 25, 2017 (at approximately 5:20 pm eastern time), the engine of my 2010 Honda fit accelerated rapidly for no apparent reason while I was driving on a city or suburban street. On both occasions, I was driving at 20-25 miles per hour. I was not trying to increase the car's speed by pushing on the accelerator. The car has a manual transmission. On both occasions, I was able to slow the car by pushing down on the car's clutch and putting the gear shift into neutral. The engine continued to operate at a high speed after the gear shift was in neutral.
