1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2021

Sudden radiator failure resulting in engine failure.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2021

Dealership bought used car catches fire after just two days of purchase: I bought a used car with no warranty on it from a local dealership exactly two days ago. While driving on the second day of purchase, the car suddenly shut down and fumes started to come out of the car right and as I stopped the car on the side of the road, flames began to flicker out of the engine bay and within a minute or so, the entire car was engulfed in fire! I was able to call 911 and get out of the car in time, but the car's gone, completely. I am thinking that there may be some faults in the car that were not specified in the car fax report from the dealership because this is not an everyday occurrence that a car sets in fire. Now, as my insurance doesn't cover this type of fire damage (liability insurance) I am stuck between a rock and a hard place and I dealer is not ready to CO-operate. This is a big financial loss for me and I am seeking help to recover such big loss. The experience was very traumatizing for me as well for my girlfriend who was with me. This has definitely left us with ptsd.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2020

Got a ac problem with vehicle. Found out that this engine is missing a heater control valve. Prior years have one ,but years 2006- 2011 forgot to put one in. I live in phoenix where temp. Is high, so ac is used more. This is important to the climate control of the vechicle.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2019

My 2010 model year Honda Civic with the 1. 8l r18a1 4-cyl engine will not maintain its normal engine operating temperature during the cold winter months. The engine takes a considerable amount of time to warm up, whether it is idling in the driveway or being driven in the city/highway. This problem is especially noticeable when using the heat to warm up the car. If I try to use the defrost setting, the car will not reach its normal operating temperature and the air being blow out is lukewarm. Even if I wait until the car is fully warmed up, if I attempt to use the defrost, the engine temperature will drop. In order to maintain the engine's temperature, I must keep the defrost set between the hot and cold indicators on the climate control knob. This poses as a problem, because the air being blown out does not effectively defrost my windows. I also do not want to damage my engine and have it run too cold. Any outside temperate below 30 f is when the engine seems to struggle with keeping a normal operating temperate.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2015

The motor mount on my 2010 Honda Civic needed to be replaced at approximately 45,000 miles. A quick search on the Honda forums revealed many other people complaining about this issue, some of whom have had to replace their motor mount multiple times. This would appear to be a known weakness in the design which Honda is not addressing for owners.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

My Civic has developed excessive bearing noise in the transmission and it is getting louder, especially in cold weather.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

The motor mount should not have needed replaced at 62,409 miles. It vibrates very bad when in reverse and makes this ungodly noise.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2013

On the 7/28/2013 I was driving normal highway speeds of app 70mph in my 2010 Honda Civic hybred when suddenly every dash light came on and the engine died causing the power steering to freeze up. The resulting chain of events nearly caused me to wreck the vehicle but I was able to perform a controlled stop and exit the freeway. Approximately 10 minutes later I was able to restart the vehicle and continue on. When I took it to the dealership a few days later and have the problem diagnosed it was determined that there was a bad cell in the battery which in turn was confusing the vehicle computer resulting in the shutdown of the vehicle engine. Had the freeway not been straight at this particular point undoubtedly this would have resulted in a fatal accident. This problem should be investigated and resolved before this results in a fatal accident. Once the battery was replaced I had no more issues in regards to the engine shutting down prematurely.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

I purchased a new 2010 Honda hybrid, I have had 3 ima batteries replaced. The last one they replaced came with a software update that has reduced my mpg from over 40mpg to 30mpg and less power. I believe this is in violation of stated window sticker mileage claims, lemon laws and possibly air quality laws, not to mention the loss of power dangers.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2013

About a year ago - there was smoke coming out of engine while driving. We stopped and Honda said there was a problem with the engine and changed the engine (under warranty still). Since then, we have multiple engine warning light signs while driving in highway or middle of crowded city, as well as the drive light just starts randomly blinking forcing us to stop in the middle of the road and re-start the car. Throughout this time, they are now changing the engine for the 3rd time and there is constant leak and warning signs still. They have obviously not figured out the problem, but they know our warranty is running out in October - so they just change engine or repair a leak (without actually figuring out what the problem is) and they are waiting for warranty to run out. It is all been an engine problem and the dealer and now Honda just do not seem to care - we are still under warranty. We think this is a violation of the magnuson-moss warranty act as they have obviously not fixed the problem (ie engine) that is under warranty and just replace it with something that does not fix the problem. This is extremely dangerous for us to be driving this car as Honda and us both know that the problem is not fixed and driving in highway or a road could mean an accident anytime. However, Honda does not seem to care - they say well we will keep on replacing engine until warranty runs out. We would like to get a new car or a car with equal mileage (as of February 2013), as we have not been able to properly use the car and feel in danger every time we drive the car given all the warnings.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2013

I was parked in shopping center. I came out of cvs pharmacy and carefully backed my car out. I began a left turn lane (still in shopping center) not into main road and suddenly the car's speed escalated rapidly and I could not stop it - it jumped the curb and in trying to avoid hitting shops car crashed headlong into light pole. It would appear that the gas accelerator was stuck. The airbag came on and I was injured by that. The front end of auto was badly damaged. This is a Honda Civic 2010 and there was a crash and one person injured (me) which when I print this your form reverts to original form.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2012

While my wife was waiting in line at a fast food drive thru lane, steam was noticed coming from under the hood. The vehicle was immediately parked. A quick inspection showed the engine compartment to be extremely clean. A small amount of moisture was noticed on the inside of the hood and next to the ac compressor. The vehicle was towed to the agency and left overnight. When I called the next morning, I was informed that the compressor was failing and that they recommended to have the compressor replaced for $995. After stating that the vehicle was less then two years old and inquiring if there was a recall or other Civics with similar problems, I was told that a 2006 model was brought in with a similar problem and that there was no recall. I called some local parts stores and was told that the compressor was not stocked and would have to be special ordered because the model year was still new. The final repair was replacement of the ac compressor and ac relay for a discounted price of $824. 60 ouch!.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2010

The condenser unit in my 2010 Honda Civic ex has expired. I took it in for an oil change a little over a week ago, and ever since then, the a/c hasn't worked. I returned to the dealer this morning and the service guys insisted that the condenser was puntured by road debris. The manufacter warranty won't cover the cost to repair the damage, nor will my easy care insurance cover it. I purchased this car 7 1/2 months ago brand new.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

My new Honda Civic (2010) has had two episodes of random, unpredictable engine revving, the engine revs as if I were going 60 miles an hour and then suddenly somehow went into first gear. The first time it happened the car did accelerate and I hit a snow bank as I was pulling into my driveway. The second time it happened I was going around 35 miles per hour, the engine revved, but the car didn't accelerate. I am taking the car to the dealer tomorrow. It is very scary.
