general problems of the 2010 Honda Civic - part 1

My car was in the dealership for a recall repair and every since then the srs light seems to come on. The srs light first came on when I had a passenger in the passenger side getting out from the car exiting it the car the car is a 2010 with 35000 miles it's a one owner car never in an accident and repaired always at the dealer all service history. The only person that's mess with this system is the dealer who's tried to repair and get the light off srs light and still is not fixed wanting me to pay almost $1,800.

Yhe weatherproofing strips of all my windows are melting and coming off. One already did. I dont live in a very hot city. Im afraid it will allow water to leak in door and get to electronics and mess up window function. If window goes out you wouldnt be able to roll window down if an emergency arises which would be a major safety hazard. An a rank in the automotive industry.

Hi there! I own 2010 Honda Civic and within the last year or longer, the paint on the roof and hood, trunk area keeps disappearing. I am losing my paint. I notice a lot of Honda Civics with the same problem. I am a vehicle owner who takes care of my vehicle including the appearance of it. The current mileage on my car is 85997 miles. I contacted the Honda dealership and I spoke to the service advisor about the warranty enhancement on the paint/ TSB and I was told that it is expired. . I am not happy about this. Honda should do the right thing and repair this. I only do city driving and my car was in a parking garage up until late 2018 and then right after I started noticing the paint is getting faded. I attached a couple pictures to show where the paint damage is located. Thank you kindly.

The speedometer flickers speed. For example if I am going 70 mph on the highway, my speedometer will display i0.

Driver side sun visor popped/exploded open. This happened during summer months when outside temperature was higher. Before sun visor exploded open, it had not been touched or moved for several days and was in dormant position (non-use). Car was not in use and was parked in private home driveway which had been stationed there between 20-24 hours. Had car been in motion I believe this could cause significant safety risks. After visor explodes open it will no longer be able to be set in dormant position and could block vision or hit driver. Pieces could also dislodge and hit driver.

Leaks at side curtain airbag on driver side whenever it rains.

1) a/c compressor failed. 2) tpms light constantly on regardless of tire pressure within specification.

Within two weeks both sun visors split and dropped down while parked and will not remain up. Dealer has refused any warranty work despite previous problems with these components in the past.

Sun visor has failed, split open. Very annoying. It;s always in the down position, I don't need it at night. If I try to put it all the way forward, it just goes back down. I have read about class action lawsuit on years 2006-2009 but seems like others have failed as well.

My car horn to honk is not working. I replaced the fuse and it won't work. This is very dangerous!! I can't warn cars that are about to crash into me that I'm there. I can't prevent accidents without honking. Some cars don't see me in there blind spots. I feel like if someone crashes into me Honda will be part at fault bc the horn doesn't work. I received a recall letter from Honda saying the air bags are being recalled. I think the horn situation should be investigated bc the horn and the airbag are located in the same place. My horn malfunction before but it had gotten fixed by itself.

"takata recall" I replied to the first letter on 7/22/2016, but I'm still waiting for the dealer to contact me to replace the parts. Sometimes the airbag light will turned on and off by itself apparently without any reason.

I was pulling out of my parking lot and was getting ready to drive out to turn onto the road in front of my apartment, went to put down my driver's side sun visor and it fell off.

Paint began failing, first turning chalky then peeling is several spots on roof and trunk.

Sun visor falls into driver's field of vision and can't be stowed correctly.

Sun visor on passenger side split and now just hangs down.

The paint on the roof of the car and on the trunk is peeling and fading. It started out as dull looking paint and then turned into gray spots.

There is a water leak in the interior of the car. Anytime that it rains, water leaks through the top section of the driver's side curtain airbag. We have had continued rain for the past two days and it has dripped down while sitting parked all night. The whole interior in seat are soaked wet. There was no previous damage to the top of the car.

Fading/peeling paint and clear coat on the roof and trunk so far. The problem is increasing.

We have replaced the sun visor in the second year that we had the car. Our car is now six years old and it has to be replaced again! my son has a 2002 Honda and has never had to replace them. It makes me feel the car is made very cheaply!.

I been replacing my axles 6 times , 2 in the rigth side and 4 times in the left side. The dealer or Honda cant tell me what is wrong but also they dont do nothing about it eather.

Vehicle started fine in the mornings but, when shifted into reverse, there was a loud, humming noise. I have owned several vehicles before but have never encountered this noise before. I have been advised that the engine mount needed to be changed and that this is a common problem. Honda should address this as there seems to be a design issue.

Driver's side sun visor fell down while driving and won't stay up. The seam is split and the visor just hangs making it difficult to see. Moving or stationary makes no difference, it won't stay up in either situation. I have to physically hold it up while I drive.

Drivers side visor mechanism to hold the visor in place has failed. The visor cannot be set in an upright position which impairs vision. This happens in stationary and while the vehicle is moving.

Both sunvisors on my Civic have split and will fall down in front of me and block my view of the road at any time. This is frustrating and dangerous.

Drivers side visor would not stay folded up. It had split and no longer hold to support. Seems simikar or same as earlier year product recall.

The sun visor on the driver's side won't stay up, keeps coming down while I'm driving making visibility poor. . . Visor came apart at the seam, making it impossible for the visor to stay up against the roof and out of the driver's line of vision. . . A recall for this same problem was issued for model years up to 2009. . . The same visor is on the 2010 models, why weren't they involved in the recall also? the passenger side is also looking like it's going to have the same issue.

Paint peeling and oxidation occuring bad. I bought this car may 5, 2015 and it started prior to me purchasing it. Looks horrible and I'd like it fixed. I own a chevy that's older and it looks excellent compaired to my cars paint. Please help to resolve this problem.

Sun visor fell down on drivers side scaring driver & could have caused accident. Now the visor will not stay up & blocks visibility. This is a know prior defect & it appears they are still using the same parts. Why hasn't this been addressed. Is another class action suit needed to call Honda on this? it's a safety hazard.

Paint peeling due to poor workmanship.

The driver's door power lock actuator failed and within two months the rear driver's door lock actuator failed as well.

The motor mount should not have needed replaced at 62,409 miles. It vibrates very bad when in reverse and makes this ungodly noise.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Honda Civic. The contact stated while turning into the drive way of his residence there was a loud clicking noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The failure occurred once. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for a diagnosis and the mechanic stated that the problem was common and other consumers had complained about the same problem,however,the failure was from an unknown origin. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. Gb.
